Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to chairs, in particular swivel chairs.
[0002] Chairs, especially swivel chairs, are well known in the art. In particular, the present invention relates to chairs that include a transmission mechanism that couples a pivoting movement of a backrest element with a displacement movement of a seat element (so-called synchronous mechanism). Such a transmission mechanism, for example in the form of a kinematic chain, allows the seat element to be displaced with a predetermined movement pattern in accordance with the movement of the backrest element upon "rearward pivoting" of the backrest element. Such a mechanism is known, for example, from DE 20 2012 012 606 U1 or EP 3 622 860 A1.In particular, the transmissions described here are characterized by the fact that they ensure, via an elastic storage element, that a return movement for the coupled movement sequence is realized, whereby a return to an initial position for the backrest and seat element is possible when the backrest or the chair is no longer loaded, i.e. is no longer in use.
[0003] By coupling the displacement movement (also referred to as "displacement movement") of the seat element and the pivoting movement of the backrest element, it is advantageously possible, for example, for the seat element to follow the movement when the backrest element is displaced or pivoted backward, thus creating a lifting movement, at least in the rear section of the seat element. This lifts the person sitting on the chair in such a way that, for example, pulling a shirt out of trousers can be counteracted.
[0004] Based on this prior art, the present invention aims to integrate additional functionalities into a chair, particularly a swivel chair, without increasing its complexity. In particular, it should be possible to integrate additional functionalities into the chair using as few components as possible, without having to take measures that would impact the chair's aesthetic appearance.
[0005] Chairs in which the seat is movable are known from DE 101 06 791 A1 and from US 2015 245 713 A1.
[0006] The present object is achieved by a chair, in particular a swivel chair, according to claim 1. Further developments can be found in the appended claims, the description and the figures.
[0007] A chair, in particular a swivel chair, is provided, comprising a seat element which is displaceable by a displacement movement, a backrest element which is pivotable about a first axis by a pivoting movement, and a transmission which couples the displacement movement with the pivoting movement, wherein the transmission -- comprises a kinematic chain which has at least one elastic storage link with a restoring force which returns the backrest element and seat element to an initial position, and -- is pivotally connected to the seat element via a front pivot point and a rear pivot point, wherein the seat element is pivotable about a second axis via a joint for a lateral tilting movement which is designed in addition to the displacement movement, wherein the second axis runs obliquely, in particular perpendicular, to the first axis and wherein the joint is integrated in particular in the rear pivot point.
[0008] Compared to the prior art, the joint is intended to enable an additional functionality, namely lateral tilting with a tilting movement for the seat element. The integration of this joint into the rear pivot point in particular means that no further additional components need to be implemented that would have to be mounted on the underside of the seat element, in particular its outer side. In particular, the rear pivot point and in particular the joint are integrated into the underside of the seat element. This allows the component responsible for the tilting movement to be recessed into the seat element together with the rear pivot point in such a way that it is not visible or recognizable from the outside. For example, an additional external hinge or joint can be avoided.
[0009] In particular, the chair is a swivel chair used, for example, in an office setting. Such chairs preferably have a seat support that allows the seat element to be pivoted with the backrest element. Furthermore, the seat support preferably has a footrest with casters, which allows the chair to be moved. This allows the seating position to be adjusted as freely and flexibly as possible to a desk, enabling the most ergonomic seating position possible. "Front" refers in particular to those areas that are further away from the backrest than the "rear" areas, particularly along a horizontal direction.
[0010] Furthermore, it is conceivable for the seat element to have a cushioned part and / or a seat area on which a user of the chair can sit. Furthermore, it is conceivable for the backrest element to also have a cushion and / or a leaning area, which is held, for example, by a backrest support of the backrest element. The leaning area or cushion can be designed to be deformable or non-deformable. In this case, the term "deformable" is understood by those skilled in the art to mean the adaptation of the cushioned part or the leaning area to the shape of the respective back of a person sitting on the chair. In addition to foam-filled cushioned parts, fabrics or braids are also conceivable. For example, it is also conceivable that, using a corresponding adjustment mechanism, an initial position of the leaning area relative to the seat surface can be adjusted, in particular to variably adjust the initial position.
[0011] Preferably, the displacement movement is a lifting movement, in particular a movement along a substantially vertical direction, to ensure that the seat element is raised or lowered when the backrest element is pivoted. In particular, the rear region of the chair element is raised and shifted backward. Furthermore, it is conceivable for the chair to be height-adjustable independently of the coupled lifting movement, for example, by means of a corresponding telescopic mechanism in the seat support.
[0012] In particular, a kinematic chain is an arrangement of several rockers that are connected to each other in an articulated manner in order to determine a specific course of movement.
[0013] According to a preferred embodiment, a single joint is provided for the lateral tilting movement, in particular only a single joint in the rear pivot point, and preferably an elasticity of the storage member supports tilting and / or returning the seat element to its original position. In other words: a joint in the front region of the seat element is dispensed with, and the preferably dual storage members are hinged to the front pivot point. These hinges allow the storage member to be displaced relative to the seat element about an axis that is parallel to the first axis, but not parallel to the second axis. In particular, it is provided that the hinge in the front pivot point for the storage member has a width that - measured in a direction predetermined by the first axis - is greater than 3 cm, preferably greater than 4 cm.
[0014] Due to the elasticity of the storage element, particularly in the event of deformation caused by torsion, the storage element(s) supports the return or restoration of the seat element to its original position in the event of a deflection caused by the tilting movement. Thus, in addition to returning the backrest element and the seat element to their original position, the storage element also restores the seat element if it has been tilted sideways about the second axis.
[0015] Furthermore, it is intended that the second axis be essentially defined by the shape of the seat element. This takes into account, in particular, that tilting can also occur if the seat element is tilted accordingly due to the coupled movement sequence.
[0016] Preferably, the transmission is connected to the chair support at a connection point, and the rear pivot point is arranged substantially above the connection point. Substantially above means that the rear pivot point is offset forwards or backwards by no more than 10 cm in a horizontal direction. This ensures, in particular, that when the backrest element is displaced, the seat element essentially only experiences a lifting movement and no pivoting movement forwards or backwards. In other words, a comparatively small deflection is also provided for the seat element, which is sufficient to ensure that the seated person follows accordingly when the backrest is deflected. Furthermore, the pivot point is located substantially below a rear section of the seat element. This also provides increased legroom (to the rear) for the seated person. In particular, the rear swing arm is designed to be comparatively short, especially in a direction perpendicular to the seat surface, and, for example, no longer than 20 cm.
[0017] According to the invention, the joint is a ball joint. This allows a corresponding pivoting bearing in the rear pivot point, which is required for the movement sequence and is determined by the kinematic chain or transmission, to be ensured with a single component. Furthermore, a joint or a ball joint can be integrated relatively easily into the lower side of the seat element. Alternatively, an elastic plate or a "power joint" is also suitable for implementing the joint. A "power joint" is an elastomeric rubber joint that can be pivoted in all directions relative to the vertical.
[0018] Furthermore, the transmission comprises a rear rocker that connects a backrest pivot point, about which the backrest element is pivotable about the first axis, to the rear pivot point on the seat element. The backrest element and the rear rocker are rigidly connected to one another or are formed integrally with one another. As a result, when the backrest element, in particular a backrest support, is displaced about the first axis, a simultaneous movement of the rear rocker is initiated, ensuring a direct coupling between the backrest element and the seat element and executing the lifting movement. In particular, it is provided that the rear rocker forms a lower section of the backrest element.
[0019] Preferably, the rear rocker arm is curved, particularly in a section that runs parallel to the first axis, and the joint is formed substantially at the apex of the curved profile. For example, the curved profile has a trapezoidal shape.
[0020] In particular, it is provided that two kinematic chains formed essentially parallel to one another are designed as a transmission below the seat element, wherein the front section of the kinematic chain in each case provides an elastic storage link, while in the rear section of the respective kinematic chain a common rear rocker is formed, which extends essentially transversely below the seat surface, in particular a rear section of the seat surface. This advantageously makes it possible for only a single joint to be used for both kinematic chains in the rear pivot point in which the joint is integrated, whereby the number of components required to carry out all movement sequences, i.e. for the pivoting movement, the tilting movement and the displacement movement, is reduced or remains reduced.
[0021] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the storage element has an elasticity that varies along its longitudinal extent. This advantageously makes it possible to achieve a desired deformation, which is particularly necessary when the pivot point or the connection point of the seat support to the base element is located in a rear region of the seat element.
[0022] Preferably, an adjustment mechanism is formed on the storage member, with which the elasticity of the storage member can be adjusted. For example, it is conceivable that the elasticity or deflection of the storage member is influenced by a rigid body that can be displaceably arranged on the storage member and, for example, engages around the storage member. For example, this could be a clamp-like structure made of plastic that extends over a certain longitudinal region of the storage member and surrounds it. The rigid body has an elasticity that is less than that of the storage member. Depending on the position of this adjustment mechanism or of the rigid body, no or lesser deformation occurs in this region, thereby influencing the elasticity of the storage member.
[0023] Preferably, the inclination of the transmission is adjustable. For example, it is conceivable that the base element, to which the transmission and the backrest are connected, is not fixed relative to the seat support and instead allows, for example, a displacement or tilting of the entire seat base element or base element in order to adjust the inclination of the entire seat support within a certain range.
[0024] Preferably, the seat element is equipped with a return mechanism for the lateral tilting movement. For example, it is also conceivable that, in addition to the return force of the storage element, a further mechanism, such as an additional spring, is integrated into the second pivot point, which is provided for returning the seat element when deflected by a tilting movement.
[0025] Further advantages and features will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments of the subject matter according to the invention with reference to the accompanying figures. Individual features of the individual embodiments can be combined with one another within the scope of the invention.
[0026] It shows: Fig. 1: a chair according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, Fig. 2 a detailed view of the chair Figure 1 , Fig. 3 Joints in a chair according to further exemplary embodiments of the present invention Fig. 4 the joints Figure 3 in a starting position and Fig. 5 the joints Figure 3 in a pivoted position.
[0027] In Figure 1A chair 1 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown. Preferably, the chair 1 is a swivel chair, in particular an office swivel chair. Such chairs have a backrest element 20 and a seat element 30. In order to ensure the most comfortable sitting possible, it is provided that the backrest element 20 is pivotally mounted about a first axis A1, for example, to follow a "leaning back" of a user's back. In addition, in the embodiment of the Figure 1provided that the seat element 30 is displaceable with a displacement movement VB. The displacement movement VB is preferably a substantially vertical movement which ensures that a seat height is adjusted, in particular is adapted to a degree of inclination of the backrest element 20. It is also conceivable that only a rear section of the seat element 30 carries out this displacement movement VB or that the rear section of the seat element 30 carries out a greater displacement movement VB than the front section of the seat element 30. In particular, it is provided that the chair 1 has a transmission 40 with which the pivoting movement SB of the backrest element 20 is coupled or mechanically coupled to the displacement movement VB of the seat element 30, so that a movement sequence for the seat element 30 is defined when the backrest element 20 is pivoted. In particular, it is provided that – upon a pivoting movement VB of the backrest element 20 to the rear – the seat element 30, or at least the rear section of the seat element 30, performs an upward movement. This prevents, for example, a person sitting on the chair 1 and pivoting the backrest backward by a corresponding movement from having to fear that a top, for example a shirt, will be pulled upward.
[0028] The "front" section refers here to those sections that are further away from the backrest element than the "rear" sections.
[0029] The transmission 40, through which the displacement movement VB is coupled to the pivoting movement SB, comprises a kinematic chain. Such kinematic chains are designed to define movement sequences, in particular by coupling several links, preferably rockers, to one another via several pivot points. The transmission 40 and the backrest element 30 are connected to a base element 18, which in turn is supported by a seat support 4. For this purpose, the base element 18 is mounted on the upper side of the seat support 4. Further components of the seat support 4 include a foot area 7, which is equipped, for example, with rollers 9, with which the swivel chair or chair 1 can be moved. Furthermore, the seat support 4 comprises a pivot rod 5, around which the seat element 30 can preferably be rotated about a substantially vertical axis. This makes it possible to align the seat element 30 in the desired orientation, for example, so that the chair 1 is oriented relative to a table for comfortable seating. In particular, the base element 18 is mounted to the upper end of the pivot rod 5 via a connection point 6.
[0030] The backrest element 20 preferably has a cushioning part 23 arranged on an upper section of a backrest element support 21. The cushioning part 23 can, for example, be connected to the backrest element support 21 in a height-adjustable manner or be rigidly connected to the backrest element support 21. The person skilled in the art understands the cushioning part 23 to be, in particular, an elastic mesh that adapts to the shape of the respective back or deforms accordingly.
[0031] The backrest element 20 is preferably rigidly connected to a rear rocker arm 20 of the kinematic chain. In particular, it is provided that the rear rocker arm 22 and the backrest element 20, in particular the backrest element support 21, form an integral, i.e., one-piece component. "One-piece" is to be understood in particular as meaning that the component cannot be disassembled into further subcomponents without being destroyed. The backrest element 20, preferably together with the rear rocker arm 22, is pivotally mounted in the base element 18 about a first axis A1. Furthermore, the rear rocker arm 22, with its section facing the seat element 30, is pivotally mounted on the seat element 30 via a rear pivot point D2. By actuating or "pivoting backwards" the backrest element, it is ensured in particular that the seat element 30, in particular its rear region of the seat element 30, is moved upwards via the rear rocker 22.
[0032] Furthermore, the embodiment looks like Figure 1proposes that an elastic storage member 8 is part of the kinematic chain. In particular, the storage member 8 connects the base element 18 to a front section of the seat element 30. In particular, the elastic storage member 8 is pivotally mounted at a front pivot point D1 on the seat element 30. Furthermore, it is provided that a hinge-like component with a hinge axis running parallel to the first axis is used for the pivotal mounting of the storage member 8 at the front pivot point D1. Furthermore, it is conceivable that the elastic storage member 8 is, for example, rigidly mounted on the seat element 30 and / or is connected via a connection point D3 to the base or to the base element 18. The connection point D3 can, for example, be rigidly connected in the front region of the base element 18. However, the storage member 8 preferably extends as far as the backrest pivot point D4 orto the first axis A1 (hidden by the base element 18 in the illustration). The storage member 8 is rigidly (i.e., rotationally free), preferably mounted or attached to the base element 18, in the region of the first axis A1 or the backrest pivot point D4. In other words: while the front end of the storage member 8 is connected to the seat element 30 via a hinge, the rear end is rigidly attached. It is also conceivable for the storage member 8 to be rigidly mounted to the seat element 30 with both the front end and the rear end.
[0033] In particular, the elasticity of the storage member 8 ensures that the chair 1 returns to an initial position when the seat element 30 and / or backrest element 20 are not loaded. In other words, the elastic storage member 8 ensures a return movement of the seat element 30 and backrest element 20 to the initial position after the chair 1 has left its initial position by using the coupled movement mechanism.
[0034] In particular, it is provided that the elastic storage member 8 is bent at least in sections in the starting position, in particular in a front section, i.e. in the front third. Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the elastic storage member 8 is essentially strip-shaped. Furthermore, two storage members 8 running parallel to one another are provided, which run essentially along the lateral edges of the seat element 30 below the seat element 30. It is conceivable that the elasticity of the storage member 8 changes along its longitudinal direction, which is essentially predetermined by the direction of the seat element 30 or the course of the seat element 30. It is also conceivable that the elasticity can be adjusted via an adjustment mechanism in order to control the return movement, for example. In particular, it is provided that the base element 18 supports both the backrest element 20 and the transmission element 40, and thus the seat element 30. It is provided that the base element 18, viewed in the vertical direction, is arranged substantially below a rear region of the seat element 30. In other words, the base element 18 is not arranged centered below the center of the seat element 30.
[0035] Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the connection point 6 is arranged substantially below the rear pivot point D2 when the chair 1 is in the starting position or initial position. Furthermore, it is provided that the rear rocker 22 is curved in a section extending parallel to the first axis A1 and, in particular, is designed integrally in order to provide legs for the transmission on the left and right sides, which each serve as rear rockers 22. In other words: While individual storage links 8 are used for the respective kinematic chains on the left and right sides under the seat element 40, the same component, in particular a curved section or a trapezoidal section, is used for the rear region of the kinematic chains on the left and right sides.
[0036] Furthermore, it is provided that the seat element 30 is designed to perform, in addition to a displacement movement VB, at least one tilting movement KB to the side about a second axis A2. For this purpose, the chair 10 according to the embodiment of the Figure 1 It is provided that a joint 15 is formed in the rear pivot point D2, which joint enables lateral tilting, in particular about a second axis A2, which runs obliquely to the first axis A1, preferably perpendicular to the second axis A2. In particular, it is provided that the second axis A2 essentially follows the general course or orientation of the seat element 30 and runs perpendicular to the first axis A1. In particular, it is provided that a mechanism is provided in the rear pivot point D2, which allows both a lateral tilting movement KB and the rotatable mounting of the rear seat element section and thus of the entire seat element 30.
[0037] In Figure 2a front view of the arched rear rocker arm 22 is shown. In particular, the illustration shows the integration of the joint 15 into the second pivot point D2, whereby a lateral tilting movement KB of the seat element 30 is provided in addition to the alignment of the rear rocker arm 20 for orienting the seat element 30 to realize the displacement movement VB. For example, the integration of the joint 15 into the second pivot point D2 is a pivotable hinge joint, i.e. a pivotably mounted hinge joint. Alternatively, it is conceivable that a ball joint is realized in the rear pivot point D2. In this case, the joint 15 and the rear pivot point D2 are preferably embedded or countersunk into the seat element 30.
[0038] In particular, it is preferably provided that exclusively the joint 15, which is integrated into the rear pivot point D2, is provided for the lateral tilting movement KB. In other words: In particular, it is provided that no joint is provided in the area of the front pivot point D1 or in the front pivot point D1 or that this is omitted. Due to the elastic design of the storage member 8, it is nevertheless possible for the tilting movement KB to be possible for the front section of the seat element 30, in particular a rigid seat element 30. In particular, it is provided that, due to the restoring forces present in the storage members 8, the storage members 8 additionally ensure that a restoring movement into an initial position for the seat element 30 takes place when a tilting movement KB has tilted the seat element 30 out of its initial position. In particular, it is provided that the storage elements 8 initiate a corresponding restoring force when, for example, they are twisted or subjected to torsion. In this case, it proves advantageous, for example, to use strip-shaped or band-like storage elements 8, since they provide the geometric prerequisites for providing such a restoring force counteracting the torsion. At their front end, the band-like storage elements open into the hinge, which preferably extends across the entire width of the band- or strip-shaped storage element 8.
[0039] The tilting movement KB can be realized, for example, by a ball bearing. It is also conceivable that two pivot axes inclined to one another are used to initiate a lateral pivoting movement. The tilting movement KB can, for example, be designed such that it occurs about at least two axes. Furthermore, it is conceivable that a power joint or a rubber element is used. Two plates that are pivotally connected to one another and are each rigidly connected to the seat element 30 and the base element 18 would also be conceivable. It is also conceivable that several hinge-like elements are combined to initiate the desired tilting movement. The bearing can, for example, also be realized using springs, in particular one or more leaf springs, which allow a tilting movement.
[0040] Furthermore, it is conceivable (not shown) that, for example, via an articulated connection of the base element 18 to the seat support 4, the transmission 40 can be pivoted with the backrest support 20 in order to be able to set a preferred starting position for the user. In other words: the transmission 40 is not fixed in its position relative to the seat support 4. Furthermore, it is preferably provided if the kinematic chain is free of a link. It is also conceivable that, in addition to the integration of the joint, a link guide is provided in the rear pivot point D2, with which, for example, the hinge and the rear pivot point, in particular together, can be displaced forwards or backwards. It is also conceivable that an additional damping element is integrated into the rear pivot point D2 and / or the joint 15 in order to prevent a hard stop when performing the tilting movement KB.
[0041] In Figure 3Two different joints 15 are shown by way of example which can be used in a chair 1 according to the present invention. In particular, it is provided that the joint 15 in the rear pivot point D2 is designed in such a way that both lateral tilting about the second axis A2 and a change in the inclination of the seat element 30 by pivoting about the first axis A1 or about an axis which runs parallel to the first axis A1 are possible. In particular, a joint 15 is provided which enables tilting movements and pivoting movements at the same time. For example, a cardan joint (left) or a joint head (right) is used for this purpose as the joint 15. In particular, the cardan joint provides a first section which is fastened to the seat surface 30. In particular, the first section of the cardan joint is pivotally embedded within the seat element 30.The first section is arranged within the seat element 30 so as to be pivotable about the second axis A2. Preferably, the seat element 30 has a corresponding recess on its underside into which the first section of the universal joint is pivotably integrated or embedded. The rear rocker arm 22, as the second section of the universal joint, is pivotably connected to the first section so as to be pivotable about the first axis A1, in order to ensure, in addition to the lateral tilting movement KB, a change in the inclination of the seat element 30 via the pivoting movement. The universal joint is thus designed to support or initiate both the lateral tilting movement KB and the inclination movement of the seat surface or the seat element 30.
[0042] As an alternative to the universal joint, it is also conceivable to use a joint head that is embedded in the seat element 30, in particular in the underside of the seat element 30. Such a joint head has, for example, a housing section in which a through-bore is recessed. A bearing shell is arranged on the inside of this through-bore, which in turn supports an inner ring, enabling a pivoting movement via the joint head that adjusts the inclination of the seat element 30. At the same time, the mounting of the inner ring on the bearing shell allows a lateral tilting movement about the second axis A2.
[0043] In Figure 4 are the ones in Figure 3The joints 15 described in more detail are shown in an initial position. In this position, the seat element 30 or the seat surface extends essentially horizontally or parallel to the floor surface. In this situation, there is preferably neither a displacement of the seat element 30 due to an adjustment of the inclination of the seat element 30 about the first axis A1 nor a lateral tilting due to a tilting movement KB about the second axis A2.
[0044] In Figure 5 the two joints 15 are made of the Figure 3 and 4 shown in such a position in which the seat element 30 is tilted laterally by a tilting movement about the second axis A2. Reference symbol:
