Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a method for manufacturing an assembly of a connector and a coaxial cable, as well as an assembly consisting of the connector and the coaxial cable. Furthermore, the use of the assembly for high-frequency applications is proposed.
[0002] A conventional assembly consisting of a connector and a coaxial cable typically features a support clamp or sleeve surrounding the outer conductor of the coaxial cable. This support clamp or sleeve serves to achieve high holding forces. Depending on the design, a separate crimp clamp or an additional crimp tube may also be present, enclosing the outer conductor portion of the assembly. These measures primarily serve to ensure the operational reliability and dependability of the assembly. As a rule, the support clamp, sleeve, crimp clamp, or crimp tube is located at a connection point of the outer conductor portion. A crimp clamp or crimp tube can, for example, be used to apply the necessary holding forces according to FAKRA specifications. The outer conductor part can, for example, be a tube that, as an integral part, forms a connection between the cable outer conductor and the outer conductor part of a complementary connector.
[0003] Tests have shown that high-frequency characteristics (for example, impedance curve and reflection coefficient) are negatively affected by a support clamp, support sleeve, crimp clamp, or separate crimp tube. Excessive compression or deformation of an insulator can also negatively impact high-frequency characteristics.
[0004] It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a solution to this problem. In particular, it is an object of the invention to resolve the conflict between high holding forces and good high-frequency properties, i.e., to offer a solution that fulfills both desired properties.
[0005] According to the invention, a method for manufacturing an assembly consisting of a connector for high-frequency applications and a coaxial cable or a component for such an assembly is proposed in particular, comprising: Providing an outer conductor section, wherein the outer conductor section has at least one connecting section with an inner wall that is at least partially designed as a hollow cylinder; providing an inner conductor section and an insulating section; providing a coaxial cable, wherein the coaxial cable has an outer conductor having wires, an inner conductor that is at least partially arranged inside the outer conductor, an insulator that is at least partially arranged inside the outer conductor and at least partially encloses the inner conductor, and a cable jacket that at least partially encloses the outer conductor; stripping an outer conductor section of the coaxial cable; turning the stripped outer conductor section inside out around a first cable section of the coaxial cable and arranging the wires outside the cable jacket in the first cable section; joining the coaxial cable with the outer conductor section to form the assembly or component.wherein the outer conductor part with the connecting section of the outer conductor part is pushed over the first cable section, reducing the inner diameter of the connecting section, whereby the cable sheath is compressed at least in a first partial area of the connecting section and the wires lie against the inner wall of the connecting section and the cable sheath, , wherein the first sub-area comprises at least 70% of an area of the connection section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath.
[0006] Features are sometimes described in the singular below. Such a description may alternatively or additionally include a corresponding disclosure for several such features, if any. The term "at least partially" is synonymous with "wholly or partially".
[0007] The "wires on the inner wall of the connecting section" and the "wires between the inner wall and the cable sheath" refer to the wires of the inverted outer conductor section or, in other words, the sections of wires in the inverted outer conductor section.
[0008] The statement that the first sub-area comprises at least 70% of the area of the connection section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath is to be understood as meaning that the inner diameter is reduced everywhere in at least 70% of the said area (in other words: along the entire length of at least 70% of the area) and the cable sheath is compressed everywhere in at least 70% of the said area (in other words: along the entire length of at least 70% of the area).
[0009] Where the wires lie against the inner wall of the connecting section and the cable sheath, the wires are preferably clamped between the inner wall of the outer conductor part and the cable sheath.
[0010] In the area of the connection section where the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath, the wires are preferably clamped between the inner wall of the outer conductor part and the cable sheath.
[0011] In the first sub-area, at least 70% of the area of the connection section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath, the wires are preferably clamped between the inner wall of the outer conductor part and the cable sheath.
[0012] In the first section, the inner diameter of the connecting section is reduced. Reductions in the inner diameter of the connecting section do not necessarily have to be uniform, consistent, or of the same extent. However, reductions in the inner diameter of the connecting section preferably occur uniformly, consistently, or of the same extent in the first section.
[0013] At least in the first subsection, the connection section is designed as a hollow cylinder, either entirely or at least partially. Specifically, in the area of the connection section where the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath, the connection section can be designed as a hollow cylinder, either entirely or at least partially. The reduction of the inner diameter can be uniform across all points in the aforementioned area and / or the first subsection. This can positively influence the high-frequency characteristics while simultaneously ensuring high retention forces.
[0014] During assembly, additional parts can be added to form the connector. The method can relate to the assembly of a component that can be supplemented or assembled with further parts or components to form the assembly according to the invention. Any assemblies according to the invention, which are described structurally below, can be produced using the method. Features of the presented embodiments or method features described below can be the subject of the method according to the invention. With regard to the method according to the invention, full reference is made to the embodiments of the assembly according to the invention, and vice versa. The presented method can be carried out at least partially automatically.
[0015] Stripping the outer conductor section of the coaxial cable involves, in particular, removing the cable jacket from the corresponding section of the coaxial cable that contains the outer conductor section before stripping. Turning the conductor inside out describes moving the wires of the outer conductor section towards the coaxial cable (towards its cable jacket) and can be similar to turning a shield inside out. Arranging the wires on the outside of the cable jacket in the first cable section can be done practically simultaneously with turning the conductor inside out.
[0016] An optional arrangement of the wires along the longitudinal direction of the first cable section can be performed simultaneously with the inversion. Inversion and / or arrangement of the wires (optionally, arrangement along the longitudinal direction) can, in particular, involve a partial or complete unbundling of the braid of the stripped outer conductor section. The wires of the stripped outer conductor section can then, for example, form only a loosely woven braid or, preferably, no braid at all. That is, the wires overlap and cross only to a minimal extent or not at all. Overlapping or crossing is advantageously avoided to a particularly high degree when the wires are arranged along the longitudinal direction. Subsequent re-overlapping processes caused by assembly (sliding over the connection area) are then greatly reduced. This arrangement is therefore preferred.A beneficial consequence is that particularly high holding forces can be achieved when there are few or no overlapping layers. Furthermore, the uniform compression of the cable sheath and the cable itself has a positive effect on the high-frequency characteristics.
[0017] The outer conductor section and the insulating section can form a common unit, for example, in the form of a shared and / or joined and / or prefabricated part. The inner conductor section and the inner conductor of the coaxial cable can form a common unit, for example, in the form of a shared and / or joined and / or prefabricated part. It may be provided that at least two further parts of the assembly form at least one common unit, for example, in the form of a shared and / or joined and / or prefabricated part.
[0018] The insertion of the connecting section onto the first cable section can be carried out under pressure.
[0019] The assembly of the aforementioned parts may include, in particular, one, more, or all of the following steps: Inserting the insulating part into the outer conductor part (unless the outer conductor part and the insulating part already form a single component and / or are already joined together, in which case this step may be omitted); Connecting the inner conductor part to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable (unless the inner conductor of the coaxial cable and the inner conductor part already form a single component and / or are already joined together, in which case this step may be omitted); Connecting the outer conductor part to a housing of the assembly.
[0020] In general, the procedure may exhibit the following features: Assembling the inner conductor part and the insulating part with the coaxial cable and with the outer conductor part to form the assembly or component, wherein the outer conductor part is pushed over the first cable section with the connecting section of the outer conductor part.
[0021] The reduction of the inner diameter of the connecting section is advantageously carried out when the first cable section is already located within the connecting section. The reduction of the inner diameter can be achieved by applying pressure to the connecting section from all sides, for example, using two half-shells as will be explained later. Other methods of applying pressure are also possible, for example, by changing the ambient pressure in the area of the connecting section. The inner diameter of the connecting section can be reduced in a partial area of the connecting section (where the area of the connecting section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath is included to at least 70%) or with respect to the entire connecting section.
[0022] The presented method represents a simple, cost-effective, fast, and automatable way of manufacturing the assembly according to the invention with all its advantages (see below). Reducing the inner diameter of the connection section, including at least 70% of the area of the connection section where the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath, provides an effective way to increase the holding forces while maintaining the high-frequency properties. A particular advantage is that reducing the inner diameter over such a long area does not result in excessive compression of the cable (and the insulator) (which is beneficial for the high-frequency properties), yet high holding forces are still achievable.
[0023] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the connecting section is designed entirely as a hollow cylinder.
[0024] This can mean, in particular, that no cuts, breaks, omissions, or gaps are provided in the outer contour of the connecting section. Specifically, no cuts, breaks, omissions, or gaps may be provided at an outer end of the connecting section.
[0025] The described embodiment of the method according to the invention represents a simple way to increase the holding forces while maintaining the high-frequency properties. A continuous hollow cylinder can exert forces on the cable particularly evenly, thus enabling high holding forces without excessive cable compression. Furthermore, the manufacturing effort for the outer conductor section and the manufacturing effort for producing the assembly according to the invention are low.
[0026] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the first sub-area completely comprises the area of the connection section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath.
[0027] The inner diameter can be reduced wherever folded wires are located. The reduction of the inner diameter can be carried out by the same amount at all points within the first section.
[0028] The presented embodiment represents another effective way to increase holding forces while maintaining high-frequency properties.
[0029] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the reduction of the inner diameter of the connecting section is carried out using two half-shells, each having a semi-cylindrical recess, wherein the two half-shells with the semi-cylindrical recesses are pressed onto the connecting section, wherein the inner radius of the semi-cylindrical recesses is smaller than the outer diameter of the connecting section before the reduction of the inner diameter.
[0030] In particular, the inner radius of the semi-cylindrical recesses can be smaller, preferably slightly smaller, than the outer diameter of the connecting section before the reduction of the inner diameter, for example preferably by at least 2%, more preferably by at least 4%. A suitable upper limit can be particularly preferably 7% or 10%, or even more preferably 5%. An interval between 4% and 5% has proven to be particularly advantageous. Other suitable intervals are: 2–5%, 2–7%, 2–10%, 4–7%, 4–10%. An excessively small inner radius of the semi-cylindrical recesses would lead to uneven deformation of the connecting section and to burr formation.
[0031] The presented embodiment enables a simple and easily automated realization of the advantages of the invention. In particular, it represents a simple method for applying pressure in virtually all directions.
[0032] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the inner diameter of the connecting section is reduced by at least 4%.
[0033] This already results in a significant increase in the holding forces between the connector and the coaxial cable, even with such a reduction in the inner diameter.
[0034] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the inner diameter of the connecting section is reduced by a maximum of 5%, 10%, or 15%. These limits can be combined with the aforementioned lower limit of at least 4%.
[0035] This advantageously and reliably prevents the diameter reduction from occurring unevenly and / or with burr formation, even when taking component tolerances and tool tolerances into account.
[0036] In one embodiment of the method according to the invention, the stripped outer conductor section is turned inside out around the first cable section of the cable sheath and the wires of the stripped outer conductor section are arranged along the longitudinal direction of the first cable section by brushing, in particular by means of a wire brush.
[0037] Practical trials have shown that using a wire brush is a simple, fast, cost-effective, and easily automatable way to combine the steps of turning the wires inside out and arranging them lengthwise into a single step. A rotating wire brush is particularly suitable.
[0038] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the method additionally comprises: Including at least one inwardly pointing depression in the connecting section, wherein the depression has a smaller axial extent than the first sub-section.
[0039] In one embodiment, at least one recess is introduced into the first part of the connecting section, in which at least a reduction of the inner diameter of the connecting section takes place.
[0040] In one embodiment, at least one recess is provided in the area of the connection section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath.
[0041] The insertion can be carried out, for example, using a punch, a crimping tool, or another tool. The advantages of a single or multiple recesses, as already described, can be implemented simply, quickly, cost-effectively, and with easy automation.
[0042] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the insulator of the coaxial cable is compressed by introducing at least one recess.
[0043] Reference is made in particular to the following explanations. The additional compression of the insulator advantageously leads to an increase in the holding forces.
[0044] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the assembly does not have an additional support clamp or support sleeve or crimp clamp and no additional crimp tube arranged around the first cable section and / or the insulator.
[0045] Reference is made to the advantages and remarks of the corresponding embodiment of the assembly according to the invention. In particular, the high-frequency properties can be improved and the process simplified, as a corresponding connection step (e.g., crimping or plugging) is not necessary.
[0046] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the outer conductor part is designed as a tube, in particular as a thin-walled tube.
[0047] Preferably, the outer conductor part is made of metal.
[0048] Preferably, the outer conductor part is a single piece.
[0049] Preferably, the outer conductor section is designed as a tube along its entire length. Preferably, the outer conductor section has no material accumulations (especially on the outside) that extend beyond its design as a thin-walled tube. In particular, the outer conductor section preferably has no material accumulations (especially on the outside) whose wall thickness exceeds 0.5 mm, or, more preferably, 0.3 mm, or, even more preferably, 0.1 mm.
[0050] Large accumulations of material, or further accumulations of material, particularly on the outside of the pipe, can be avoided. This can refer to accumulations of material that may be present at any point on the outer conductor section. Alternatively or additionally, this can refer to accumulations of material that may be integrally connected to the pipe (i.e., as a single, unified part).
[0051] The proposed embodiment is again advantageous with regard to its high-frequency properties and is also particularly simple in design and manufacture. The high-frequency properties are favorably influenced if there are no large accumulations of material on the outside of the outer conductor section. Handling a tube is easier than with parts of more complex geometries, especially with regard to automated implementations of the process.
[0052] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the outer conductor part is one piece.
[0053] An outer conductor section in the form of a tube does not need to have the same diameter everywhere, but the diameter can also be constant.
[0054] The wall thickness of the outer conductor section can be, for example, 0.20 mm. In particular, the wall thickness can be 0.03 to 1 mm, 0.03 to 0.5 mm, or 0.1 to 0.5 mm, preferably 0.1 to 0.3 mm, and most preferably 0.15 to 0.25 mm.
[0055] In an advantageous embodiment, after reducing the inner diameter, the connecting section has a length in the range of 5 to 15 mm, preferably 7 to 10 mm.
[0056] In an advantageous embodiment, the connecting section has a wall thickness in the range of 0.1 to 0.5 mm after reducing the inner diameter, preferably 0.1 to 0.3 mm, particularly preferably 0.15 to 0.25 mm.
[0057] In an advantageous embodiment, the connecting section has an inner diameter in the range of 3.0 to 4.0 mm after the inner diameter has been reduced. The inner diameter does not need to be constant over the entire length of the connecting section.
[0058] The aforementioned embodiments are advantageous in terms of a good compromise between favorable high-frequency properties and high holding forces. The high-frequency properties are favorably influenced if there are no large accumulations of material on the outside of the outer conductor section, no significant geometric variations in the longitudinal direction of the outer conductor section, and if the outer conductor section is not too long (but still long enough to achieve good holding forces). Handling a tube is easier than with parts of more complex geometries, especially with regard to automated implementations of the process.
[0059] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, it additionally features: Arrange the wires along a longitudinal direction of the first cable section.
[0060] Reference is made to the other remarks and advantages of this embodiment.
[0061] In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the diameter of the coaxial cable is reduced by compressing the cable jacket in the first cable section, wherein the diameter reduction is at least 4%, preferably 4% to 15%, compared to the second cable section. Further values are specified below in the disclosure of a product.
[0062] Reference is made to the other remarks and advantages of this embodiment.
[0063] The invention further proposes a product in the form of an assembly, which is obtainable in particular by the inventive method: An assembly consisting of a connector, especially for high-frequency applications, and a coaxial cable, wherein the connector comprises an outer conductor part, an inner conductor part which is at least partially arranged inside the outer conductor part, an insulating part which is at least partially arranged inside the outer conductor part and which at least partially encloses the inner conductor part, wherein the outer conductor part comprises at least one connecting section with an inner wall, wherein the connecting section is at least partially designed as a hollow cylinder, wherein the coaxial cable comprises an outer conductor having wires, an inner conductor which is at least partially arranged inside the outer conductor, an insulator which is at least partially arranged inside the outer conductor and which at least partially encloses the inner conductor, a cable jacket which at least partially encloses the outer conductor, wherein the coaxial cable comprises a first cable section which is arranged inside the connecting section, wherein the coaxial cable has a second cable section which is arranged outside the connection section, wherein in the first cable section an insulated outer conductor section of the coaxial cable is arranged lying on the outside around the cable jacket, wherein wires of the insulated outer conductor section are located between the cable jacket and the outer conductor part of the connector and lie against the inner wall of the connection section and the cable jacket, wherein at least the cable jacket is compressed by the outer conductor part at least in a first partial region of the connection section.
[0064] The first sub-area comprises at least 70% of an area of the connection section where the wires are arranged between the inner wall and the cable sheath.
[0065] The assembly consisting of the connector and the coaxial cable can be used particularly for data transmission purposes. This assembly can be used, for example, in the field of automotive engineering.
[0066] The assembly can have features, individually or in any combination, that have already been described using a method according to the invention. The assembly can be obtained using a method according to the invention.
[0067] The connector may, in particular, have a housing made of electrically insulating material. The outer conductor may be at least partially enclosed within the housing. The connector may be a straight connector. Alternatively, the connector may be an angled connector, which in particular has an angle of 90° between the coaxial cable and a plug-side connection. The connector may be a male connector, also called a "plug," or alternatively a female connector, also called a "coupler."
[0068] The outer conductor section can be designed, in particular, as a tube. On the mating side opposite the connection section, the outer conductor section can, in particular, have a connection for a complementary connector or be connected to such a connector. The outer conductor section can be electrically and / or mechanically connected to the outer conductor section of a complementary connector. The outer conductor section and the insulating section can form a common unit, for example, in the form of a common and / or joined and / or prefabricated part.
[0069] The outer conductor is electrically and physically connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable. The inner conductor is at least electrically connected to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable. A direct physical connection between the inner conductor and the inner conductor may also exist, for example, by means of a crimp connection. The inner conductor and the inner conductor of the coaxial cable may form a common unit, for example, in the form of a shared and / or assembled and / or prefabricated part. It may be provided that at least two further parts of the assembly form at least one common unit, for example, in the form of a shared and / or assembled and / or prefabricated part.
[0070] The connecting section can be designed wholly or partially as a hollow cylinder. The connecting section serves to receive the coaxial cable through the connector. If the outer conductor section is partially or completely designed as a tube, the connecting section can be part of that tube. The connecting section can be a section of the outer conductor section that surrounds and / or touches the coaxial cable, including its outer conductor (regardless of whether the outer conductor is stripped or not), or encompass this section. The connecting section can be the entire section of the outer conductor section that surrounds and / or touches the coaxial cable, including its outer conductor (regardless of whether the outer conductor is stripped or not), or encompass this section. The connecting section can partially or completely encompass the area of the coaxial cable where the wires of the stripped outer conductor section are located.
[0071] The connecting section can have at least one recess, which will be discussed in more detail in a specific embodiment described below. The recess has a smaller axial extent than the first section. A recess can, for example, be a bead in the transverse direction to the connecting section or a bead in the longitudinal direction to the connecting section. A bead can, in particular, be a linear or edge-like indentation (in a radial direction to the inside). Alternatively, a recess can be a circumferential groove or a crimp. Several recesses can be provided on the connecting section. For example, a recess can be provided at a first end region of the connecting section and another recess at a second end region of the connecting section, which is opposite the first end region.Recesses can also be located radially opposite each other on the connection section. These recesses serve to increase the holding force of the coaxial cable within the connection section.
[0072] The outer conductor contains wires, for example, in the form of a braid. The outer conductor can be at least partially a braid. In other words, the outer conductor can be at least partially composed of tendons, wires, strands, and / or fibers. It is possible for the outer conductor to contain tendons, wires, strands, and / or fibers that do not form a braid or only partially form one. A shielding foil can optionally be present beneath or as part of the outer conductor.
[0073] Wires are preferably arranged in the first sub-area.
[0074] The first cable section is located within the connection section. For example, it may have been inserted into the connection section or pushed in under pressure. A reduction in diameter, preferably of a hollow cylinder, is present. In particular, this reduction occurs during the manufacturing process after the first cable section has been inserted into the connection section. Because the outer conductor part, here the inner wall of the connection section, and the wires of the stripped outer conductor section are then pressed against the cable jacket, compression of the cable jacket can be achieved. Additionally, this can result in compression of the insulator of the coaxial cable. Compression of the cable jacket or the insulator can, in particular, mean that pressure is exerted on the cable jacket or the insulator by the connection section. The pressure from the connection section on the cable jacket can act directly, originating from the inner wall of the connection section, or indirectly, originating from the inner wall of the connection section via the stripped outer conductor section. The pressure from the connection section on the insulator can act indirectly, originating from the inner wall of the connection section, possibly via the stripped outer conductor section, the cable jacket, the outer conductor contained in the coaxial cable, and possibly a shielding foil. Compression of the cable jacket or insulator can also mean that there is a reduction in volume and / or diameter of the respective part (cable jacket and / or insulator) compared to the second cable section. The second cable section is located outside the connection section and may, in particular, be in a state under ambient conditions, meaning it may not be compressed apart from normal ambient pressure. Compression of the cable sheath or insulator can also mean that it is subjected to pressure exceeding ambient pressure.
[0075] Compression of the coaxial cable's insulator can further increase holding forces, as this automatically causes a change in the shape of the cable jacket in conjunction with the connection section. However, excessive compression of the insulator can negatively affect the high-frequency characteristics. Therefore, the reduction in insulator diameter should be a maximum of 25% or 20%, preferably a maximum of 15%, and particularly preferably a maximum of 10%, 8%, or 5%, in each case compared to the uncompressed state as found in the second cable section.
[0076] Optionally or additionally, at least one recess may be present in the connection section, wherein the recess has a smaller axial extent than the first subsection. In particular, it may have been introduced after the first cable section has been inserted into the connection section during the manufacturing process and after the inner diameter of the connection section has been reduced, for example by pressing or crimping the connection section.
[0077] Because the outer conductor section (its inner wall of the connection section) and the wires of the stripped outer conductor section are pressed against the cable jacket in at least one recess, additional compression of the cable jacket can occur. This can also compress and / or increase the compression of the coaxial cable's insulator. This, in turn, can increase the holding force of the assembly (between the connector and the coaxial cable).
[0078] The second cable section is a normal part of the coaxial cable under ambient conditions. The first cable section (in its state before it enters the splice section) can be identical to the second cable section in terms of construction and dimensions. In particular, both cable sections can be part of the same coaxial cable and have an identical construction. Both cable sections can be adjacent to each other.
[0079] The exposed outer conductor section can be a folded, turned, inverted, and / or brushed portion of the coaxial cable's outer conductor. This means that, prior to folding, turning, inverting, and / or brushing, the cable jacket may have been removed around the exposed outer conductor section, leaving it initially exposed. The exposed outer conductor section may then have been repositioned so that it is now located around the cable jacket, for example, by folding, turning, inverting, and / or brushing. In practice, brushing with a wire brush has proven effective.
[0080] The connecting section, or at least a portion thereof, surrounds the stripped outer conductor section. This connecting section can press the wires of the stripped outer conductor section against the cable jacket, particularly where the inner diameter is reduced, i.e., especially in the first section. This can lead to partial deformation of the cable jacket. For example, the wires can create groove-like indentations in the cable jacket, which can be elastic and / or plastic deformations. This allows the desired high retention forces between the coaxial cable and the connector to be achieved.
[0081] The wires of the stripped outer conductor section can be arranged along the longitudinal direction of the first cable section. "Along" in this context means that slight deviations from the longitudinal direction, for example, deviations of a maximum of 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 degrees, are permissible. Preferably, the deviations are less than 20 degrees, and particularly preferably less than 10 degrees. Such a longitudinal arrangement can be achieved, in particular, by folding, turning, inverting, and / or brushing. In tests, a longitudinal arrangement of the wires has proven beneficial with regard to high-frequency characteristics and holding forces.
[0082] The cable sheath and, optionally, the insulator can be made of a deformable material. This means that they can be made of an elastic and / or plastically deformable plastic. The cable sheath and, optionally, the insulator can therefore be easily compressible, especially compared to the inner conductor, which is usually made of metal.
[0083] To achieve compression of the cable jacket and, optionally, the insulator, the inner diameter of the connection section can be smaller than the outer diameter of the second cable section, or smaller than the sum of the outer diameter of the second cable section and the thickness of one or twice the thickness of one of the wires of the outer conductor. A reduction in the inner diameter of the connection section can be achieved, in particular, by applying pressure to the connection section from all or nearly all sides, as explained later. Reference is also made to the explanations regarding recesses, which can be designed, for example, as beads. A further reduction in the inner diameter of the connection section can be achieved by means of a recess (for example, a circumferential groove or a circumferential crimp).
[0084] A recess can be, for example, a crimp, a bead, or a partially circumferential recess or groove. A recess can be oriented longitudinally or transversely. The connection section can correspond to the area of the outer conductor section in which the stripped outer conductor section is located. The connection section can be larger or, in particular, longer than the aforementioned area. For example, the connection section can include a further area in which no wires are present between the inner wall of the outer conductor section and the cable sheath.
[0085] The first section of the connection, where the outer conductor (through the inner wall of the connection) compresses the cable sheath and optionally the insulator, can be a section of the connection containing one or more recesses. For example, one or more recesses can be provided as follows: a single depression in the area of the connection section in which the stripped outer conductor section is arranged, and / or two radially opposite depressions in the said area, and / or several depressions in the area of the connection section in which the stripped outer conductor section is arranged, and / or several pairs of two radially opposite depressions in the said area.
[0086] The following can be provided alternatively or additively in any combination: a single depression in an area of the connection section in which the stripped outer conductor section is not located and / or two radially opposite depressions in the area of the connection section in which the stripped outer conductor section is not located and / or multiple depressions in the area of the connection section in which the stripped outer conductor section is not located and / or multiple pairs of two radially opposite depressions in the area of the connection section in which the stripped outer conductor section is not located.
[0087] In particular, an assembly according to the invention is disclosed, wherein a plurality of recesses are provided in the form of two first recesses and two second recesses, wherein the two first recesses and the two second recesses are radially opposite each other, and wherein the two first recesses and the two second recesses are provided on different longitudinal sections of the connecting section. The different longitudinal sections can be longitudinally opposite end sections of the connecting section, i.e., for example, the first and last 15% of the connecting section viewed from one side.
[0088] The first part of the connection section, in which the cable sheath and optionally the insulator are compressed by the outer conductor part (by the inner wall of the connection section) and the wires of the stripped outer conductor section (since the inner diameter is compressed according to the invention), can comprise almost and preferably the entire area of the connection section in which the wires are arranged between the inner wall of the outer conductor part and the cable sheath, for example at least 70, 80 or 90% of this area.
[0089] The compression described above is achieved by reducing the inner diameter and optionally by adding one or more recesses. The compression of the cable sheath and optionally the insulator can preferably also be achieved in the entire area of the connection section where the wires are arranged between the inner wall of the outer conductor section and the cable sheath, again by reducing the inner diameter and optionally by adding one or more recesses. The reduction in inner diameter and the recesses together can cause compression of the cable sheath and optionally the insulator.
[0090] Additionally, in a further section of the connection where no wires of the stripped outer conductor section are present, the cable sheath and, optionally, the insulator can be compressed. Compression then occurs only through the inner wall of the connection. The first section of the connection where the cable sheath and, optionally, the insulator are compressed through the inner wall can also comprise almost the entire connection, for example, at least 70, 80, or 90% of the connection, achieved by reducing the inner diameter and, optionally, by adding one or more indentations. Alternatively, the compression of the cable sheath and, optionally, the insulator can also be achieved throughout the entire connection, again by reducing the inner diameter and, optionally, by adding one or more indentations.A reduction in the inner diameter and indentations can together cause compression of the cable sheath and, optionally, the insulator.
[0091] In particular, an assembly according to the invention is disclosed, wherein the cable sheath and optionally the insulator are compressed over a length of at least 70% or at least 80% or at least 90% of the connection section by means of the inner wall of the connection section and due to the inner diameter of the hollow cylinder.
[0092] The wires of the stripped outer conductor section can be arranged such that they do not cross, or only cross to a minimal extent, within the stripped outer conductor section. For example, the wires can be arranged such that only a maximum of 30%, or a maximum of 20%, or preferably a maximum of 10%, or, particularly preferably, a maximum of 5% of the wires cross. "Crossing" can also be understood, in other words, as "overlapping" or "superimposing".
[0093] Practical tests have shown that compression by means of the outer conductor section (its inner wall of the connection section) and the wires of the stripped outer conductor section makes it possible to achieve high retention forces while maintaining good high-frequency characteristics. This is a significant advantage of the invention. A friction-fit connection is established between the coaxial cable and the connector, with a form-fit component also being present due to the reduction in the inner diameter of the connection section. If a recess is also present in the connection section, a friction-fit and—to an even greater extent—a form-fit connection between the coaxial cable and the connector can be established, resulting in particularly high retention forces. Furthermore, the assembly is inexpensive and technically easy to manufacture, even in an automated manner.
[0094] In an advantageous embodiment, the insulator of the coaxial cable is additionally compressed by the outer conductor section at least in a second sub-section of the connection. In this second sub-section, if present, the inner diameter of the connection is also reduced. The reduction in the inner diameter in this second sub-section can be smaller, equal to, or larger than in the first sub-section.
[0095] Such compression can be achieved in particular by reducing the inner diameter of the connecting section and / or by one or more depressions.
[0096] A depression is present in the connecting section, preferably in a second sub-area mentioned above.
[0097] There may be several second sub-areas.
[0098] There may be multiple depressions.
[0099] Further in-depth study can take place in a second sub-area.
[0100] If the isolator is already compressed in the aforementioned first sub-area, the isolator is preferably compressed more strongly in the second sub-area than in the first. Percentage values for compression are specified elsewhere in this description and may differ accordingly between the first and second sub-areas. If the second sub-area overlaps with the first sub-area or lies within the first sub-area, the compression values subsequently specified as percentages are not to be considered additive; instead, specified minimum values, maximum values, or ranges apply. For example, if a range of 4–10% is specified (see ranges specified below) and the second sub-area lies within the first sub-area, then the isolator is compressed by a total of at least 4% and at most 10% in the second sub-area.In the first sub-area, where it does not overlap with the second sub-area, the isolator can be compressed by, for example, 4%, and in the second sub-area by a total of 4% to a maximum of 10%, particularly 5-10%. Alternatively, the isolator can be uncompressed in the first sub-area where it does not overlap with the second, and only compressed by a total of 4-10% in the second sub-area.
[0101] Compression of the insulator (note: and also of the cable sheath; see further explanations regarding this) can, in particular, mean that pressure is exerted on the insulator from the connecting section. This pressure from the connecting section to the insulator can be indirect, originating from the inner wall of the connecting section, possibly via the stripped outer conductor section, the cable sheath, the outer conductor contained within the coaxial cable, and possibly a shielding foil. Compression of the insulator can also mean that there is a reduction in volume and / or diameter of the insulator compared to the second cable section. The second cable section is located outside the connecting section and may, in particular, be in a state under ambient conditions, i.e., apart from normal ambient pressure, not be compressed.Compressing the insulator can also mean that pressure is exerted on it that is higher than the ambient pressure.
[0102] The second sub-area can lie within or overlap the first sub-area. Multiple second sub-areas may be present. The first and at least one of the second sub-areas may overlap completely or partially. Preferably, the at least one second sub-area lies within the first sub-area. The at least one second sub-area may contain at least one recess (e.g., designed as a bead, circumferential groove, crimp, and / or circumferential crimp). If multiple second sub-areas are present, then each of the multiple second sub-areas may contain at least one recess (e.g., designed as a bead, circumferential groove, crimp, and / or circumferential crimp).
[0103] The presented embodiment allows holding forces to be advantageously increased. Provided that a maximum diameter reduction of 25% of the insulator is observed, the high-frequency properties are not degraded or only insignificantly impaired.
[0104] In an advantageous embodiment, the first sub-area is larger than the second sub-area and the insulator is compressed only in the second sub-area.
[0105] If the second sub-section is preferably smaller than the first sub-section, the high-frequency characteristics, which can be negatively affected by excessive or excessively large-area compression of the insulator, are only marginally impaired. Nevertheless, the holding forces can be advantageously increased to a significant degree. The second sub-section can be the area of the connection section where there is no stripped outer conductor section. Alternatively, the second sub-section can also be a section of the connection section where there is no stripped outer conductor.
[0106] In an advantageous embodiment, at least one inwardly pointing recess is provided on the inner wall of the connecting section, wherein the insulator is preferably compressed by the at least one recess.
[0107] A depression can be used to initially cause or increase the compression of the cable sheath. The inner diameter may already be reduced at the point where the depression is created, especially if the depression is located in the first section. Alternatively or additionally, the insulator may be compressed by the depression. See the further explanations regarding the compression of the insulator and the cable sheath.
[0108] Recesses can be single or multiple. Recesses can be radially opposite each other on the connecting section, thus achieving symmetry in the cross-section and / or longitudinal section. A recess can be, for example, a bead, a crimp, or a groove. Reference is made to the further explanations regarding recesses. At least one recess can be located in the second section.
[0109] By using one or more recesses, particularly high holding forces can be achieved between the coaxial cable and the connector. If the insulator is compressed by the recess, the holding force can be advantageously increased further, as a stronger positive fit is possible. However, a small and relatively shallow recess does not lead to excessive insulator compression, so the high-frequency characteristics are not affected or only minimally impaired.
[0110] In an advantageous embodiment, the insulator in a longitudinal section of the coaxial cable is compressed in its outer diameter by a maximum of 25%, or a maximum of 20%, or a maximum of 15%, or a maximum of 10%, or a maximum of 5% compared to the outer diameter of the insulator in the second cable section.
[0111] This avoids, in a particularly advantageous way, the adverse effects of excessive compression of the insulator on the high-frequency properties.
[0112] In an advantageous embodiment, the diameter of the coaxial cable is reduced by compression of the cable sheath in the first cable section, wherein the diameter reduction is at least 4%, preferably at least 5%, or at least 10% or at least 15%, compared to the second cable section.
[0113] The diameter reduction is present in at least 70% of the area of the connection section where the wires are located between the inner wall and the cable sheath. The diameter reduction may also be present in the area of the connection section where no wires of the stripped outer conductor section are located.
[0114] A diameter reduction of at least 4%, preferably at least 10%, and particularly preferably at least 15%, enables desirable retention forces between the coaxial cable and the connector. Preferably, the diameter reduction is a maximum of 20%, and particularly preferably a maximum of 25% or a maximum of 30%.
[0115] The aforementioned minimum and maximum diameter reductions can be combined to form any desired range. Desirable intervals are therefore: 4-10%, 4-15%, 4-20%, 4-25%, 4-30%, 10-15%, 10-20%, 10-25%, 10-30%, 15-20%, 15-25%, or 15-30%. Excessive diameter reduction negatively impacts high-frequency characteristics, particularly due to excessive insulator compression.
[0116] In one embodiment, there is a (possibly further) reduction in the diameter of the coaxial cable at a depression on the inner wall of the connection section.
[0117] The recess can be located, in particular, in the area of the connection section where wires of the stripped outer conductor section are situated between the cable jacket and the outer conductor part of the connector. A further recess, radially opposite the first, may be provided. Compression in the form of a reduction in the diameter of the coaxial cable may already be present due to the inner wall of the connection section and the wires. The reduction in diameter (and consequently the compression) due to the recess can be an additional factor. The recess can, for example, be a circumferential groove or a circumferential crimp.
[0118] The embodiment is advantageous because it represents a simple and effective means of increasing the holding forces between the coaxial cable and the connector.
[0119] In an advantageous embodiment, the maximum reduction in diameter of the insulator of the coaxial cable due to compression in the first cable section is a maximum of 25% compared to the second cable section.
[0120] A greater reduction in the insulator diameter negatively impacts the high-frequency characteristics, particularly due to excessive insulator compression. With a maximum insulator diameter reduction of 25% compared to the second cable section, which represents the uncompressed state, the high-frequency characteristics are reduced to an acceptable degree. Nevertheless, a (potentially additional) reduction in the insulator diameter allows for desirable retention forces between the coaxial cable and the connector. Desirable ranges for the maximum insulator diameter reduction are 4-10%, 4-15%, 4-20%, 4-25%, 10-15%, 10-20%, 10-25%, 15-20%, or 15-25%.
[0121] In an advantageous embodiment, the cable sheath is compressed over at least 80% of the connection section.
[0122] This length can include, in particular, a section of the connection where only the cable sheath, and not the wires of the stripped outer conductor section, are in contact with the connection. "80%" can also refer to the first cable section. The cable sheath can also be compressed throughout the entire connection. Compression can be achieved, in particular, by reducing the diameter of the inner wall of the connection and, optionally, by at least one recess in the inner wall of the connection. A uniform deformation of the insulator, which can be achieved in this embodiment, is particularly advantageous for the high-frequency properties. Compression over a comparatively long area also enables high retention forces. At least one recess can also be provided to further increase the retention forces.
[0123] In an advantageous embodiment, the assembly does not have an additional support clamp or support sleeve or crimp clamp and no additional crimp tube arranged around the first cable section.
[0124] The support clamp, support sleeve, crimp clamp, or additional crimp tube can be any part that is at least partially arranged around the first cable section, that is, surrounds the first cable section. In particular, the support clamp or support sleeve can be a metallic part. Specifically, the support clamp or support sleeve can be part of a crimp connection. The support sleeve, support clamp, crimp clamp, or additional crimp tube is not the outer conductor part.
[0125] As already discussed, omitting the aforementioned parts improves the high-frequency properties of the assembly. The assembly according to the invention nevertheless advantageously achieves a high holding force with good high-frequency properties, particularly since the compression of the cable sheath on the outer conductor section results in increased compressive stress.
[0126] In another aspect, the invention relates to the use of the assembly according to the invention as previously described in general and specific embodiments for the transmission of high-frequency (signals), as a high-frequency connector, in a high-frequency connector or for the manufacture of a high-frequency connector.
[0127] In another aspect, the invention relates to the assembly according to the invention, comprising a high-frequency connector.
[0128] The term "high frequency" refers to a frequency of at least 1 kHz (kilohertz), preferably at least 10 kHz, more preferably at least 50 kHz, even more preferably at least 100 kHz or at least 1000 kHz, and most preferably at least 10 MHz. 20 GHz (gigahertz) is preferred as the upper frequency limit, which can be combined with any of the aforementioned lower limits. Therefore, "high frequency" means 1 kHz to 20 GHz, preferably 10 kHz to 20 GHz, 50 kHz to 20 GHz, 100 kHz to 20 GHz, 1000 kHz to 20 GHz, or 10 MHz to 20 GHz.
[0129] The invention is described below with reference to exemplary embodiments. The figures shown are: Fig. 1 : a section of an assembly according to the invention, Fig. 2 : an enlargement of the section of the Fig. 1 , Fig. 3 the male outer conductor part according to the invention made of Fig. 1 , Fig. 4a the assembly according to the invention made of Fig. 1 in a simplified exploded view, Fig. 4b an assembly according to the invention with a female outer conductor part in a simplified exploded view, Fig. 5 a schematic representation of the step of reducing the inner diameter of the connecting section, Fig. 6 a schematic representation of a method according to the invention for producing an assembly according to the invention, Fig. 7a an exemplary impedance curve in the time domain (comparison of assemblies according to the invention with a conventional assembly with a support sleeve), Fig. 7b an exemplary course of a reflection factor in the frequency domain (comparison of assemblies according to the invention with a conventional assembly with a support sleeve).

[0131] Fig. 1 Figure 1 shows a section of an assembly 40 according to the invention as a longitudinal section. The assembly 40 comprises a connector 41 and a coaxial cable 4. The connector 41 has an outer conductor part 1, an insulating part 2, and a male inner conductor part 3. Alternatively, the female inner conductor part 7 could be used instead of the male inner conductor part 3 ( Fig. 4b ) or, more generally, an inner conductor section is installed. The male inner conductor section 3 is partially located within the insulating section 2. The coaxial cable 4 has a cable jacket 18, a braided outer conductor 17 with wires, a shielding foil 16, an insulator 15, and an inner conductor 14. The shielding foil 16 is to be understood as an optional part in this embodiment; it is not necessarily required.
[0132] The outer conductor section 1 has four recesses 19 located in a connecting section 21. Two of the recesses 19 (left in Fig. 1 The two recesses 19 are radially opposite each other and are located in a region 25 of the connecting section 21, where the wires are arranged between an inner wall of the connecting section 21 and the cable sheath 18. In other words, in this region 25, a stripped outer conductor section 17b is arranged circumferentially between the cable sheath 18 and the outer conductor part 1. The two other recesses 19 are also located in the connecting section 21, but in a region where no stripped outer conductor section 17b is arranged. They are also radially opposite each other. The recesses are designed as beads and each has edge-like extensions in the transverse direction to the plane of the Fig. 1 on.
[0133] The coaxial cable 4 has a first cable section 22, which is located in the connection section 21. It also has a second cable section 23, which, directly adjoining the first cable section 22, is located outside the connection section 21.
[0134] The stripped outer conductor section 17b consists of wires. They originate from a cable area on the left in Fig. 1 , before the first cable section 22 in the direction of the plug-side cable end. The cable sheath 18 and the insulator 15 are partially removed here. The stripped outer conductor section 17b is folded over and is present in the form of individual wires that do not cross or lie on top of each other, but are present individually along the longitudinal direction of the first cable section 22 (which here corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the connecting section 21).
[0135] The inner diameter of the connection section 21 is slightly smaller than the diameter of the cable sheath 18 in its uncompressed state. This means that the cable sheath 18 is noticeably compressed along the entire length of the connection section 21 (see in particular the end of the connection section 21 on the right side of the Fig. 1 ). The area in which the cable sheath 18 is compressed is a first sub-area 24.
[0136] The insulator 15 can also optionally be compressed along the entire length of the connection section 21 (not shown).
[0137] The inner diameter of the connection section 21 can be reduced, for example, from 3.97 mm to 3.78 mm (which can correspond to the inner diameter of the connection section 21 without recesses 19) if an RTK031 coaxial cable is to be used as coaxial cable 4. Alternatively, the inner diameter of the connection section 21 can be reduced, for example, from 4.17 mm to 3.78 mm (which can correspond to the inner diameter of the connection section 21 without recesses 19) if an RTK044 coaxial cable is to be used as coaxial cable 4.
[0138] The inner conductor 14 of the coaxial cable 4 is electrically and mechanically connected to the inner conductor part 3 of the connector 41 by means of a crimp. The outer conductor 17 – in the form of the stripped outer conductor section 17b – is connected to the connecting section 21 of the outer conductor part 1 by frictional force. A positive-locking component is also present because the inner diameter of the connecting section 21 is reduced. Due to the recesses 19 on the left, there is an additional, more pronounced positive-locking component.
[0139] Due to the indentations 19, the cable sheath 18 is further compressed in the adjacent areas. Likewise, the insulator 15 is compressed in the adjacent areas, as shown in the Fig. 1 This is evident. Here, pronounced positive locking mechanisms exist between the coaxial cable and the outer conductor section. This design achieves high holding forces with good high-frequency properties for the assembly 40 according to the invention.
[0140] In Fig. 2 An enlarged view of the upper section of the connecting section 21 and the first cable section 22 is shown. It can be seen that the outer conductor 17 has several layers within the coaxial cable 4. The outer conductor 17 is designed as a braid. In the Fig. 2 (and also the Fig. 1 The braid is simplified to represent wires arranged one above the other. The stripped outer conductor section 17b is, as intended, shown as a simple wire. Wires lie side by side all around.
[0141] In Fig. 3 The outer conductor section 1 is shown separately. In the illustrated embodiment of the assembly 40 according to the invention, the recesses 19 each have a depth of 0.11 mm (for simplicity, the reference numerals on the upper recesses 19 are not shown). This numerical value is an example. The outer diameter of the connecting section 21 is, for example, 3.78 mm. The inner diameter is, for example, 3.38 mm. The diameter of the coaxial cable 4 is, for example, 3.5 mm. Including the stripped outer conductor section 17b, the diameter of the coaxial cable 4 is, for example, 3.85 mm. That is, based on these exemplary values, there is compression of the cable jacket 18 over the entire connecting section 21, although it is slight in the area of the connecting section 21 where no wires of the stripped outer conductor section 17b are present.
[0142] The inner diameter of the connecting section 21 was reduced during the manufacturing process after the insertion of the first cable section 22 (numerical examples: see above). Previously, the inner diameter was, for example, 3.57 mm, and the outer diameter was, for example, 3.97 mm. The reduction of both diameters of the connecting section 21 was achieved, for example, by (in practice) applying pressure from all sides using two half-shells 30 (see above). Fig. 5 ), each of which has a semi-cylindrical recess.
[0143] The transfer of the stripped outer conductor section 17b onto the cable sheath 18 was carried out, for example, using a rotating wire brush.
[0144] The Fig. 4a shows in a simplified exploded view the components of the already in the Fig. 1-3 The assembly 40 shown according to the invention. The inner conductor part 3 is connected to the inner conductor 14 by means of crimps. It is an assembly with a male connector 41. Fig. 4b A corresponding assembly 50 with a female connector (coupler) is shown in a simplified exploded view. The outer conductor part 5 has a different design, in particular with spring-like segments at the mating end for receiving a complementary male connector. An insulating part 6 is designed differently than the insulating part 2, and likewise, a female inner conductor part 7 is designed differently than the male inner conductor part 3. The design of assembly 50 is analogous to the design of assembly 40.
[0145] In Fig. 5 A schematic representation of the step of reducing the inner diameter of the connecting section 21 is shown. Two half-shells 30, each having a semi-cylindrical recess, exert a force F on the connecting section 21. Because the two semi-cylindrical recesses have an inner diameter that is only slightly smaller than the (still unreduced) outer diameter of the connecting section 21, the outer diameter, and thus also the inner diameter, of the connecting section is reduced while maintaining its round cross-section (hollow cylindrical shape). As a result, the connecting section 21 can be slightly lengthened, since the material has to give way.
[0146] In Fig. 6 The inventive method for producing an assembly according to the invention is shown schematically.
[0147] In a first step S1, an outer conductor part 1 (see Fig. 1 ), with a connecting section 21 (see Fig. 1 ) are provided. Likewise, an inner conductor section 3 (see Fig. 1 ), an insulating part 2 (see Fig. 1 ) and a coaxial cable 4 (see Fig. 1 ) provided. The coaxial cable 4 has - from the outside in - a cable sheath 18 (see Fig. 1 ), a braided outer conductor 17 (see Fig. 1 ) with wires, a shielding foil 16 (see Fig. 1 ), an insulator 15 (see Fig. 1 ) and an inner conductor 14 (see Fig. 1 ) on.
[0148] In a second step S2, an outer conductor section 17b is stripped (see Fig. 1 ) at one end of the cable. This means that the cable sheath 18 is removed at this end of the cable.
[0149] In a third step S3, the stripped outer conductor section 17b is turned inside out around the coaxial cable 4. The stripped outer conductor section 17b is then turned inside out and brushed over the cable jacket 18 of the coaxial cable 4 using a wire brush. The braid of the stripped outer conductor section 17b is unwound, so that the individual wires are no longer connected to each other by overlaps and crossings. During the brushing process, the individual wires are turned inside out in the longitudinal direction of the coaxial cable 4.
[0150] In a fourth step S4, a section of the inner conductor 14 of the coaxial cable 4 is stripped from the cable section from which the stripped outer conductor section 17b originates. The inner conductor 14 is then crimped to the inner conductor section 3.
[0151] The insulating part 2 is now pushed up onto the inner conductor part 3 with its through-opening in a fifth step S5.
[0152] In a sixth step S6, the outer conductor section 1 with its connecting section 21 is pushed over the insulating section 2 onto a first cable section 22 under pressure. The stripped outer conductor 17b is now clamped between the cable sheath 18 and the inner wall of the connecting section 21.
[0153] In a seventh step S7, the inner diameter of the connecting section 21 is reduced, wherein the reduction of the inner diameter of the connecting section is carried out using two half-shells 30, each having a semi-cylindrical recess, wherein the two half-shells 30 with the semi-cylindrical recesses are pressed onto the connecting section 21 from the outside, wherein the inner radius of the semi-cylindrical recesses is smaller than the outer diameter of the connecting section 21 before the reduction of the inner diameter.
[0154] In an eighth step, two radially opposite recesses 19 are impressed into the connection area 21 at both the front and rear end regions using a suitable tool. The recesses 19 (see Fig. 1 These are transverse ribs. While the cable sheath 18 is compressed throughout the entire connection area 21, the insulator 15 is only compressed in the areas of the first cable section 22 where the depressions 19 are located.
[0155] In Fig. 7a Impedance curves (ohms) in the time domain over time in picoseconds are shown. The first, dotted line shows the impedance curve for an assembly (coaxial cable and connector) with a support sleeve. An unfavorable minimum forms at approximately 200 ps, followed by unfavorable maxima. The second, dashed line shows an impedance curve for an assembly according to the invention without a support sleeve and with a crimp (indentation on the outer conductor). The extrema are already significantly reduced. This is advantageous. A further, even more advantageous reduction is shown by the third, dashed-dotted line without a support sleeve and without a crimp.
[0156] In Fig. 7bThe reflection coefficient (dB) is shown in the frequency domain (MHz). The solid boundary line indicates a reasonable limit that should not be exceeded. The first dotted line shows the reflection coefficient for an assembly (coaxial cable and connector) with a support sleeve. The limit is exceeded at higher frequencies. The second dashed line shows the reflection coefficient for an assembly according to the invention without a support sleeve and with a crimp (recess on the outer conductor). The limit is not exceeded. This is already advantageous. A further, even more advantageous reduction significantly below the limit is shown by the third dashed line without a support sleeve and without a crimp. Reference symbol list
