[0001] Pressure measuring module for a pneumatic device of a vehicle
[0002] Description
[0003] The invention relates to a pressure measuring module for a pneumatic device of a vehicle, comprising a pressure sensor, a mechanical interface by means of which the pressure sensor can be directly or indirectly mechanically connected to the pneumatic device, a pneumatic interface via which a pneumatic pressure of the pneumatic device can be detected by means of the pressure sensor, and an electrical interface by means of which an electrical pressure measurement signal generated by the pressure sensor can be transmitted via the detected pneumatic pressure. Furthermore, the invention relates to a pneumatic device of a vehicle having such a pressure measuring module.
[0004] Pneumatic pressure sensors are used in compressed air systems of vehicles, for example, in commercial vehicles with air suspension systems, pneumatic braking systems, and / or pneumatically switchable automated manual transmissions for monitoring and pneumatically actuating these systems. In commercial vehicles that already have a compressed air supply system, the automated manual transmission, associated friction clutches, and, if applicable, a transmission brake, are often actuated by means of an electropneumatic switching device. The selection and shifting operations in the manual transmission itself are then carried out via bidirectional pneumatic selection and shift actuators. One or more pneumatic pressure sensors are required to control such electropneumatic switching devices.
[0005] Electropneumatic switching devices in commercial vehicles are available in various designs with different types of contact technologies for the mechanical and functional connection of pressure sensors, for example, via cable connections, flexible foil connections, or printed circuit board connections. However, the various types of common contact technologies require a pressure sensor adapted to them. Special tools are often required for their installation. This results in high costs. Furthermore, with some types of contact technologies, replacing a pressure sensor once installed is not easily possible or involves considerable effort, which is considered unfavorable.
[0006] DE 10 2019 126 526 A1 discloses a pressure sensor for use in an external component, in particular for use in a valve block of an air suspension system of a vehicle. The pressure sensor comprises a sensor housing in or on which a pressure measuring cell is arranged, as well as a printed circuit board that is arranged completely or partially on an outer side of the sensor housing and is firmly connected to the sensor housing. The printed circuit board has a plurality of contact pads or contact surfaces for external electrical contact with the printed circuit board. In addition to this electrical interface, the sensor housing also has pneumatic and mechanical interfaces. For example, the sensor housing has a cylindrical connecting piece with one or more O-rings arranged on a radial and / or axial outer surface of the connecting piece as a pneumatic interface. The connection piece is designed to position the pressure sensor in a corresponding receptacle, for example, for insertion into a bore in the external component or the valve block. As a mechanical interface, the sensor housing has retaining means, for example in the form of protrusions, recesses, locking lugs, and / or threads, which interact with corresponding retaining means of the external component or the valve block to fix the pressure sensor to this external component or the valve block. The mechanical retaining means of the pressure sensor housing can be arranged entirely or partially on the connection piece.
[0007] A disadvantage of this known pressure sensor is that a circuit board with contact pads is required for the electrical contacting of the pressure sensor. Therefore, a corresponding counterpart must be present, for example, on a component of an electro-pneumatic switching device of an automated manual transmission, or must be arranged for this purpose, which can incur additional costs. Particularly in the case of a plug-in electrical contact between such a pressure sensor and a circuit board on a valve block or on a gearbox shifter of a commercial vehicle, the aforementioned contact pads are not well suited for undisturbed electrical signal transmission due to the comparatively strong vibrations that occur during operation. If, as an alternative, electrical cables are to be soldered to the contact pads, this disadvantageously represents an additional work step.It is also not possible to quickly and easily replace a pressure sensor soldered in this way in the event of a defect.
[0008] Against this background, the invention is based on the object of presenting a pressure measuring module with a pressure sensor of the type mentioned above, which is easily adaptable to a pneumatic system of a vehicle and is also cost-effective to manufacture. In particular, such a pressure measuring module should be suitable for use in a pneumatically actuated automated manual transmission of a vehicle.
[0009] The solution to this problem results from the features of the independent claim, while advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are defined in the subclaims.
[0010] The invention is therefore based on a pressure measuring module for a pneumatic device of a vehicle, comprising a pressure sensor, a mechanical interface by means of which the pressure sensor can be mechanically connected directly or indirectly to the pneumatic device, a pneumatic interface by means of which a pneumatic pressure of the pneumatic device can be detected by means of the pressure sensor, and an electrical interface by means of which an electrical pressure measurement signal generated by the pressure sensor can be transmitted via the detected pneumatic pressure. To achieve the stated object with regard to the creation of a pressure measuring module, the invention provides that the mechanical interface has a plate-shaped carrier on which the pressure sensor is arranged, that the carrier has at least one first holding means for mechanically connecting the carrier to associated holding means of the pneumatic device, that the first holding means has at least two extensions formed on the carrier and each provided with a through-bore, that the extensions of the carrier are arranged at a distance from one another and from the pressure sensor, that the pneumatic interface is arranged on a first carrier side, that the pneumatic interface protrudes from the first carrier side and is provided with a sealing means such that when the carrier is mechanically connected to the pneumatic device, a pressure-tight connection between the pneumatic interface and the pneumatic device can be established, that the electrical interface is arranged on a second carrier side, which is located opposite the first carrier side, that the electrical interface has an electrical spring contact device protruding from the second carrier side and having at least one electrical contact spring designed as a compression spring, and that the electrical interface is electrically connectable directly or indirectly via an adapter to an electronic control device of the pneumatic device. In a preferred embodiment, the electrical interface has an electrical spring contact device protruding from the second support side and having three electrical contact springs designed as compression springs. In this preferred embodiment, at least one of the three electrical contact springs designed as compression springs is designed as a signal path between the pressure measuring module and an electrical circuit that is not part of the pressure measuring module.
[0011] This arrangement of a pressure measuring module creates a simple pneumatic pressure measuring device that can be adapted with little effort to various structural conditions of a component of a vehicle's pneumatic system. The pressure measuring module is particularly advantageously suited for use in an electropneumatic switching device of a pneumatically actuated automated transmission. However, the pressure measuring module can also be advantageously used in other pneumatic systems, such as, for example, in a pneumatic level control system of an air suspension system or in a pneumatic braking system. The inventive arrangement of the mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical interfaces allows the pressure measuring module to be used with great flexibility. The pressure measuring module is also advantageously robust and insensitive to vibrations. In particular, it can be used with simple and cost-effective spring contacts in various applications that require different contact technologies.
[0012] The mechanical interface of the pressure measuring module enables simple screw connection to the associated component of a pneumatic device. Using the sealing means of the pneumatic interface, for example a simple O-ring that can be inserted into a groove surrounding a pneumatic opening, a secure, pressure-tight connection between the pressure sensor and the pneumatic device can be easily established. According to the invention, the electrical interface is designed as a spring contact device, which enables simple electrical contacting of the pressure sensor. In particular, it is not limited to specific mating contacts. In any case, the pressure measuring module according to the invention allows a simple and cost-effective option for pneumatic pressure detection, without the need for complex structural adaptation to the structural specifications of the respective manufacturer of the pneumatic device.
[0013] According to a first development of the pressure measuring module according to the invention, the electrical spring contact device is arranged decentrally on the second support side, and the spring contact device has three electrical contact springs arranged in a triangular shape and designed as helical compression springs or spiral compression springs, which protrude from the second support side in their axial extent. This arrangement of electrical compression springs allows a simple, direct electrical connection to an electrical mating contact surface of an electronic control device or similar electrical device. For example, the pressure measuring module can be mounted directly in a circuit board frame or on a circuit board. An electrical connection of the spring contact device can be established just as easily using a suitably designed adapter. The adapter can then, for example, have an electrical cable connection or a circuit board with contact pads to establish an electrical connection with an electronic control device or the like.
[0014] According to a second development of the pressure measuring module according to the invention, it is provided that the carrier has a second holding means for optionally mechanically connecting the carrier to holding means of an adapter for the electrical interface, that the second holding means has at least two locking pins or similar connecting elements which are arranged at a distance from one another and from the pressure sensor, wherein as a result of the mechanical connection of the carrier to the adapter by means of the second holding means, an electrical connection of the electrical interface to the adapter is simultaneously established.
[0015] Accordingly, the carrier can have simple locking or snap-in elements onto which an adapter with corresponding counter-locking elements can be locked or snapped into place. The carrier can, for example, be manufactured as a plastic injection-molded part onto which the corresponding holding means are molded. The second holding means or the locking or snap-in elements serve at least to align the pressure measuring module according to the invention in the correct location during an installation process, for example to a valve block or the like, in order to enable subsequent, tilt-free screwing of the pressure measuring module to the valve block or the like. However, the locking or snap-in elements and their counter-elements can also be designed to be so precise and rigid that a sufficiently good mechanical, pneumatic and electrical connection can be established with them alone at an installation location that is vibration-free or low-vibration during operation.
[0016] According to another embodiment, it can be provided that a first adapter is designed as a transmitter connection, that the first adapter has a cover which can be fastened to the second holding means of the carrier, and that a pressure signal transmitter is integrated into the cover, which is electrically connected to the electrical spring contact device in the mounted state.
[0017] As a result, the pressure measuring module can advantageously function as an electrical or electromagnetic transmitting part, via which the electrical pressure signal of the detected pneumatic pressure can be transmitted wired or wirelessly to an electronic control device or the like.
[0018] Furthermore, it can be provided that a second adapter is designed as a plug connection, that the second adapter has a plate which can be fastened to the second holding means of the carrier, that the plate has an extension which extends geometrically beyond the carrier, that an electrical plug contact device is arranged on the extension, that the plug contact device has at least one number of electrical plug contacts corresponding to the number of electrical contact springs of the spring contact device, and that in the assembled state at least one plug contact is electrically connected to a contact spring.
[0019] As a result, the pressure measuring module can advantageously function as a plug part via which the electrical pressure signal of the detected pneumatic pressure can be transmitted to an electronic control device or the like by means of a corresponding mating plug, for example a plug of a wiring harness.
[0020] The adapters mentioned are merely examples. Depending on the specifications and structural conditions of the pneumatic device in question, the person skilled in the art may design additional adapters that are compatible with the pressure measurement module according to the invention.
[0021] According to a further embodiment of the pressure measuring module, it is provided that the pressure sensor is designed as a piezoelectric microsensor with a pressure-sensitive piezoresistive membrane and with evaluation electronics, that the evaluation electronics are electrically connected to the electrical spring contact device, and that the membrane is pneumatically connected to the pneumatic interface.
[0022] The pressure sensors used here are available in various designs as pressure measuring devices for pneumatic pressure measurements. Due to their compact design and sensitive response, they are particularly well-suited for use and integration in a pressure measuring module according to the invention.
[0023] Furthermore, it can be provided that the pressure sensor is attached to the carrier as an interchangeable module. This makes it possible to equip carriers with different pressure sensors, depending on their geometry, in order to create pressure measurement modules that are suitable for the respective application. The mechanical connection between the pressure sensor and the carrier can be achieved, for example, by a locking mechanism, especially if vibration-free or low-vibration operation can be assumed.
[0024] Finally, the invention also relates to a pneumatic device of a vehicle, which serves to actuate shift actuators and / or selection actuators of an automated manual transmission, with an electropneumatic shifting device and with a pressure measuring module for detecting a pneumatic pressure of the shifting device, wherein the pressure measuring module is constructed according to one of the device claims, as well as to a vehicle, such as a commercial vehicle or passenger car, wherein the pressure measuring module is constructed according to one of the device claims.
[0025] The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings.

[0033] Some components in the figures are the same and are therefore designated by the same reference numerals.
[0034] Accordingly, Figures 1 to 6 show various views of a pressure measuring module 1 of a pneumatic device 2. The pneumatic device 2 can, for example, be an actuator for selecting and / or shifting gears of an automated manual transmission. The selection and shifting processes in the manual transmission itself take place in a known manner using pneumatic actuators, which are designed as piston-cylinder arrangements. One or more pressure sensors are required to control and monitor the electropneumatic shifting device. Such manual transmissions are known. Only the pressure measuring module 1 proposed by the invention is important here. One or more of these pressure measuring modules 1 can be installed on such a manual transmission or on its electropneumatic shifting device. Fig.Figure 4 shows such a pressure measuring module 1 installed on a merely indicated pneumatic device 2, here installed on a transmission actuator of an automated manual transmission. The structure of a pressure measuring module 1 according to the invention is explained in more detail below.
[0035] Accordingly, the pressure measuring module 1 has a mechanical interface 4 on a plate-shaped carrier 5. The carrier 5 is manufactured, for example, as a plastic injection-molded part. A first holding means 6 for establishing a fixed connection to the pneumatic device 2 is formed on the carrier 5. The first holding means 6 essentially consists of a first extension 7 with a first through-bore 8 and a second extension 9 with a second through-bore 10. The two extensions 7, 9 are diametrically opposite one another in the carrier plane and offset from one another on the short end faces of the carrier 5 on its plastic body.
[0036] Fig. 4 shows an axial section through the two extensions 7, 9 of the support 5. As can be seen in Fig. 4, the two through-holes 8, 10 can each be additionally lined with a sleeve 11, 12 and each serve to receive a threaded screw 13, 14. Using the threaded screws 13, 14, the support 5 can then be firmly screwed to the pneumatic device 2 using corresponding threaded holes (not shown).
[0037] In addition, a second retaining means 17 is arranged on the carrier 5 on its second carrier side 16, shown obliquely from above in Figures 1, 5, and 6. The second retaining means 17 consists of a first locking pin 18 and a second locking pin 19, which are provided for locking with an adapter 35, 40, which will be described in more detail later.
[0038] As a central component of the pressure measuring module 1, a pressure sensor 20 is integrated into the carrier 5. The structure of the pressure sensor 20 is best seen in Fig. 4. Accordingly, the pressure sensor 20 in the present example is designed as a so-called MEMS sensor. This is a compact microsensor with a centrally arranged elastic membrane 21, on the surface of which several piezoresistors are arranged and interconnected to form a Wheatstone bridge and are firmly connected to the membrane. The membrane 21 is integrated into a circuit board 22 with evaluation electronics 24, which detects and evaluates the signals from the Wheatstone bridge. The membrane 21 is located at the end of a pneumatic opening 23 or bore in the carrier 5, which forms a pneumatic connection to the pneumatic device 2. The circuit board 22 is covered at the top with a cover 25 for protection.
[0039] The pneumatic opening 23 is part of a pneumatic interface 26 of the pressure measuring module 1. The pneumatic interface 26 can be seen in full in the perspective views of Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 and in section in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6. Accordingly, the pneumatic interface 26 is designed as a cylindrical body which protrudes axially on one side from the first support side 15 of the support 5, as viewed from below. At its free end, a pneumatic sealing means 27 designed as an O-ring is arranged, which is inserted in a groove 28 of the support 5 and surrounds the opening 23 in a ring-shaped manner. Due to the arrangement of the sealing means 27, the pressure measuring module 1 or the pressure sensor 20 is connected to the pneumatic device 2 or to a pneumatic bore of this device in a way that is sealed to the outside. For the mechanical connection of the pneumatic interface 26 to the pneumatic device 2, screw, clamp, or hook connection means (not shown here) can be provided. The pressure measuring module 1 also has an electrical interface 30. The electrical interface 30 is arranged on the second, i.e., upper, support side 16. The electrical interface 30 has an electrical spring contact device 31, which projects axially from the second support side 16. In the present example, the spring contact device 31 comprises an assembly of three electrical contact springs 32a, 32b, 32c, which are designed as helical compression springs. For better contact, the contact springs 32a, 32b, 32c can be coated with a highly electrically conductive gold or silver layer. The electrical spring contact device 31 is electrically connected to the evaluation electronics 24 of the pressure sensor 20 so that the electrical pressure signal can be picked up at the electrical spring contact device 31.
[0040] When the elastic membrane 21 of the pressure sensor 20 is subjected to a pressure change in the pneumatic device 2 and thereby expands or contracts, an electrical voltage change is generated at the Wheatstone bridge, which is proportional to the pressure change. The electrical voltage or pressure signal can be tapped directly at the electrical spring contact device 31 via a corresponding electrical connection of a control device 3 of the pneumatic device 2. Alternatively, an adapter can be connected.
[0041] Two suitable adapters are described in more detail below by way of example: Figures 7 and 8 show a first adapter 35. This first adapter 35 has a cover 36 which can be plugged onto the carrier 5 and latched onto the locking pins 18, 19 by means of the second holding means 17. For this purpose, two associated receptacles 37, 38 for the locking pins 18, 19 are formed on the cover 36. A pressure signal transmitter 39 is arranged on the cover 36 and is electrically connected to the electrical spring contact device 31 of the pressure sensor 20 in the assembled state. By means of the pressure signal transmitter 39, the measurement signal can be picked up wirelessly, for example, and made available on a data bus system such as a CAN bus.
[0042] Fig. 9 and Fig. 10 show a second adapter 40 from its top and bottom sides, respectively. The second adapter 40 has a plate 41 with an extension 42 that extends beyond the carrier 5, essentially extending it. The plate 41 has two receptacles 43, 44 for the locking pins 18, 19 of the carrier 5 and, as with the first adapter 35, can be locked onto the carrier 5 by means of the second holding means 17. An electrical plug-in contact device 45 is arranged in the extension 42 of the plate 41. The electrical plug-in contact device 45 has three plug contacts 45a, 45b, 45c, which corresponds to the number of contact springs 32a, 32b, 32c of the electrical spring contact device 31. Each plug contact 45a, 45b, 45c is electrically connected to an electrical contact spring 32a, 32b, 32c in the assembled state of the adapter 40.Via the second adapter 40, the pressure measuring module 1 or the pressure sensor 20 can be electrically connected to a plug connection of the pneumatic device 2 or to a control device 3 of the pneumatic device 2, for example to a plug connection of a cable harness.
