Description

[0001] The present invention relates to an extractor hood with a lighting device.

[0002] It's common to install "atmospheric" lighting, also known as mood lighting, on an extractor hood. This involves illuminating the wall to which the extractor hood is attached via lighting elements, which can be located, for example, on the rear of the hood. This creates indirect lighting in the room.

[0003] Furthermore, it is known to provide a lighting module on an extractor hood with a shade device with an intake window and a decorative device that covers the intake window. The lighting module comprises several lighting groups, each with a light source, which provide different lighting methods. Such an extractor hood is described in DE 10 2015 101 099 B4.

[0004] A disadvantage of the prior art is that the light emitted by each lighting element or lighting group can only be used for one type of lighting. Furthermore, the extractor hood described in DE 10 2015 101 099 B4 requires a lighting group to illuminate the extraction area located below the extractor hood. This lighting group protrudes from the intake window, counter to the airflow direction.

[0005] The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an extractor hood with a lighting device which allows flexible illumination with a simple structure.

[0006] According to the invention, this object is achieved by an extractor hood comprising an extractor housing with an inlet opening, a front panel arranged upstream of the inlet opening in the direction of flow and covering the inlet opening, and a lighting device having at least one light source. The extractor hood is characterized in that the lighting device is arranged on the inside of the front panel at a distance from an edge of the front panel, and an optical element for deflecting a portion of the light emitted by the lighting device is arranged on the inside of the front panel between the lighting device and this edge.

[0007] An extractor hood is specifically an extractor device that is installed above a cooktop in a kitchen. The extractor hood draws in and preferably cleans fumes and vapors created during cooking. For this purpose, the extractor hood has an extractor housing. A fan is preferably housed in the extractor housing. The extractor housing has an inlet opening that is provided in the front of the extractor housing or offset from the front to the rear of the extractor housing. The inlet opening allows fumes and vapors to enter the interior of the extractor housing. Therefore, a filter is preferably provided in the inlet opening to filter out particles from the fumes and vapors.

[0008] According to the invention, a front plate is arranged in front of the inlet opening in the direction of flow. The front plate can also be referred to as a baffle plate. The front plate covers the inlet opening. The front plate can have a width and height that corresponds to or is greater than the width and height of the inlet opening. In these cases, the front plate can be arranged at a distance to the front of the inlet opening and in particular the front side into which the inlet opening is inserted. The distance between the inlet opening and the front plate can form a circumferential gap between the front plate and the front of the extractor housing, through which vapors and fumes can pass. Alternatively or additionally, the area of the inlet opening can be smaller than the area of the front of the extractor housing. In this embodiment, a recess is formed in the front of the extractor housing, at the lowest point of which the inlet opening is located. The recess can be a trough-shaped recess, and the inlet opening forms the bottom of this recess. The side walls of the recess represent inclined walls. In this embodiment, an extraction chamber is thus formed in the extractor housing, which tapers from the front of the extractor housing towards the inlet opening. The extraction chamber is delimited at the front by the front panel. In particular in this embodiment, in which the inlet opening is formed in a recess, the front panel, whose width and height correspond to the width and height of the front, can be moved upwards, at least for the operation of the extractor hood. As a result, the lower edge of the front panel is at a higher level than the lower edge of the front of the extractor housing. This creates an intake gap in this area through which a large amount of fumes and vapors can enter the extraction chamber. The amount of fumes and vapors that can be sucked into the extraction chamber in the extractor hood through the intake gap is preferably greater than the amount of fumes and vapors that may exist through any additional circumferential gap on the side edges and the top between the front panel and the front of the extractor housing. In the version with a sliding front panel, the front panel can also rest against the inside of the front panel on the front of the extractor housing when closed, so that when closed there is no gap between the front of the extractor housing and the inside of the front panel. With an upwardly sliding front panel, the front panel should preferably only be moved upwards to such an extent that the level at which the lower edge of the front panel is located is not higher than the level at which the lower edge of the inlet opening is located. This means that the front panel still prevents the user from seeing the inlet opening of the extractor housing from the front.

[0009] Unless otherwise stated, directional references such as front, rear, top, and bottom refer to the extractor hood and its components in the installed state. In this state, the front of the extractor hood is the side facing the user. The rear of the extractor hood is preferably attached to a room wall.

[0010] According to the invention, the extractor hood has a lighting device. The lighting device has at least one light source. Each light source can have one or more lighting elements. The lighting element is preferably an LED (light-emitting diode). In addition to the at least one light source, the lighting device can have a housing, which can also be referred to as a cover. The housing or cover preferably has at least one opening through which the light emitted by the light source can exit the housing. The opening can be covered with a translucent material.

[0011] The extractor hood is characterized in that the lighting device is arranged on the inside of the front panel at a distance from an edge of the front panel and an optical element for deflecting part of the light emitted by the lighting device is arranged on the inside of the front panel between the lighting device and this edge.

[0012] The inside of the front panel is the side of the front panel facing the extractor housing, and in particular the inlet opening. The inside can therefore also be referred to as the back of the front panel. The lighting device can be attached directly or indirectly to the inside of the front panel. For example, the lighting device can be glued to the inside or attached to a bracket that can be used to connect the front panel to the extractor housing.

[0013] By arranging the lighting device on the inside of the front panel, several advantages can be achieved. In particular, the lighting device is not located in the direct airflow of fumes and vapors flowing towards the inlet opening. Furthermore, the lighting device can be freely positioned on the surface of the inside, in particular, for example, in the area that covers the inlet opening. Furthermore, due to the gap that preferably exists between the extractor housing and the front panel, light emitted by the lighting device parallel to the front panel can reach the area below the extractor hood and thus easily illuminate a cooking surface below it or at least the fumes and vapors flowing towards the extractor hood.Furthermore, the present invention allows for the simple, targeted illumination of at least part of the front panel, allowing it to be used as a decorative element. The illumination of the incoming vapors and steam, i.e., the intake area of the extractor hood, and the front panel is achieved according to the invention using the same lighting device. Finally, the arrangement of the lighting device on the inside of the front panel requires no structural modifications to the extractor housing.

[0014] The lighting device is arranged at a distance from an edge of the front panel. This edge can also be referred to as the edge of the front panel. This edge is preferably the bottom edge of the front panel.

[0015] In addition, an optical element is arranged on the inside of the front panel between the lighting device and the edge to which the lighting device is spaced. The optical element serves to redirect a portion of the light emitted by the lighting device.

[0016] The lighting device is arranged on the inside of the front panel so that it emits light toward one edge of the front panel. The main direction of the light is preferably parallel to the inside of the front panel. However, the light is usually emitted in a conical shape, so that at least some of the light is also emitted in directions deviating from this main direction.

[0017] Preferably, the optical element is mounted separately from the lighting device on the inside of the front panel. This allows the lighting device to be selected independently of the optical element. Furthermore, the shape and material of the optical element can be freely selected.

[0018] The optical element can be provided at a distance from the lighting device. This allows, for example, the dimensions of the optical element along the edge of the front panel to correspond to the edge length of the front panel, whereas the lighting device has smaller dimensions in this direction. Because the light emitted by the lighting device is generally non-linear, the entire optical element can also be illuminated by the lighting device in this embodiment.

[0019] However, it is also within the scope of the invention that the optical element is directly adjacent to the lighting device.

[0020] Redirecting the light refers to a change in the main direction of the light emitted by the lighting device. The redirected light is preferably directed toward the inside of the front panel. This can, for example, involve a change in the main direction of the light by 90°. Alternatively or additionally, the light can be directed toward the extractor housing. This can also involve a change of 90°.

[0021] By redirecting only a portion of the light emitted by the lighting device through the optical element, the light emitted by the lighting device can be split into two different light outputs. For example, the portion of the light not redirected by the optical element can be used to illuminate a portion of the space below the extractor hood, while the redirected portion of the light can be used to illuminate a portion of the extractor hood. The portion of the extractor hood that can be illuminated can be, for example, the front panel or part of an intake chamber in the extractor housing.

[0022] The present invention thus provides a number of advantages. In particular, the lighting device allows for the simple implementation of multiple lighting types, while the extractor hood still has a simple design.

[0023] According to a preferred embodiment, the optical element has a lower overall height than the lighting device. The overall height is understood to be the dimension of the lighting device and the optical element, which extends from the inside of the front panel toward the extractor housing.

[0024] This embodiment has the advantage that the design of the optical element can be simple. Particularly in the case of a lighting device that emits light across its entire height, a splitting of the light emitted by the lighting device can be achieved in a simple manner using an optical element that has a lower height. In particular, with this embodiment, a portion of the light emitted by the lighting device radiates past the optical element, while another portion is deflected in the optical element. A subdivision of the optical element into different regions, one of which deflects the light and another of which does not, is therefore not necessary.

[0025] In addition, the design of the lower height of the optical element and the arrangement of the lighting device at a distance from the edge of the front panel achieves the advantage that the air flow is less influenced by a gap between the front panel and the extractor housing, in particular an intake gap at the lower edge of the front panel, than if the lighting device were arranged at the edge of the front panel. Thus, compared to the prior art, in which one of the lighting groups must protrude forward beyond the intake window at its outer edge in the direction of the decorative element in order to fulfill the function of this lighting group, this embodiment has the advantage that the lighting device, which usually has a great height, can be arranged in an area that lies in the area of the air inlet opening and thus the air flow is not impeded by an intake gap.Only the optical element is located in the area of the intake gap, but due to its lower height it does not impede the air flow or only slightly.

[0026] The height of the optical element can be in the range of 2 to 10 mm, for example 3 mm, while the height of the lighting device can be in the range of 15 to 30 mm, in particular in the range of 20-25 mm.

[0027] According to a further embodiment, the overall height of the optical element is preferably less than the extension of a light outlet of a housing of the lighting device, through which light is emitted by the lighting device, in the direction from the inside of the front panel to the extractor housing. In this embodiment, a portion of the light emitted by the lighting device can bypass the optical element, while a portion of the light can still be guided into the optical element and thus redirected.

[0028] Although the present invention is also applicable to extractor hoods in which a baffle plate is offset downwards relative to a horizontal inlet opening, the extractor hood is preferably a sloping hood or a vertical hood. A sloping hood can also be referred to as a head-free hood. With such a sloping hood, the front of the extractor hood lies in a plane that is inclined upwards from the horizontal, with this front being inclined forwards from bottom to top. In this case, in particular the front panel and preferably the inlet opening lie in a direction that is inclined from the horizontal. A vertical hood can also be referred to as a wall hood. With this chimney, the front panel and preferably also the inlet opening lie vertically.

[0029] The advantages of the present invention can be utilized particularly advantageously with these types of extractor hoods. Furthermore, the front panel of these extractor hoods is visible to the user and can thus be used as a decorative element.

[0030] The front panel can be made of a translucent material. In particular, the front panel can be made of plastic or, preferably, glass. The front panel can be transparent or translucent.

[0031] This translucent front panel is preferably opaque in some areas, i.e. non-transparent. In particular, the front panel can be opaque in this non-transparent area. In the case of a front panel made of translucent material, in particular glass, the non-transparent area can be printed or coated. In particular, one of the surfaces, for example the inside or the outside of the front panel, can be printed or coated in some areas. The edges, i.e. the borders of the front panel, can be unprinted or uncoated and thus still translucent. Additionally or alternatively, part of the inside or outside of the front panel can also be translucent. In this case, the translucent area is left out during printing or coating. However, it is also possible to print only diffusely on the translucent area during printing.

[0032] According to one embodiment, a translucent region, in particular an unprinted, diffusely printed, or uncoated region, is at least partially covered by the optical element or adjacent to the optical element. In particular, the translucent region is provided on the inside of the front panel and is at least partially covered there by the optical element. In this way, light can be introduced from the optical element into the front panel. In this embodiment, at least one further region of the front panel is preferably translucent. In particular, the edge adjacent to the optical element can be translucent. Additionally or alternatively, other regions of the outside of the front panel can also be translucent. For example, the region on the outside of the front panel opposite the translucent region of the inside can be translucent. However, it is also within the scope of the invention that, in addition to or as an alternative to the edge(s) of the front panel, a region of the front panel offset from the translucent area on the inside is translucent. In this offset area, for example, a logo can be left unprinted or coated. When light is introduced into the front panel via the optical element, the logo can be illuminated, making it visible to the user.

[0033] According to one embodiment, the translucent region, in particular the translucent region on the inside of the front panel, borders the lower edge of the front panel. This means that the translucent region extends upwards from the lower edge of the front panel, which is preferably also translucent. According to one embodiment, this translucent region is provided only on the inside of the front panel. According to a further embodiment, a corresponding translucent region is also provided on the outside of the front panel. Preferably, the translucent region only extends from the lower edge to such an extent that its upper end is at a lower height than the lower edge of the inlet opening.

[0034] The translucent area adjacent to the bottom edge of the front panel may be strip-shaped and extend in the width direction of the front panel. However, this translucent area may also have a different shape, for example, triangular, semicircular, or the like.

[0035] In versions with a translucent area adjacent to the lower edge of the front panel, light from the lighting device can be introduced into the front panel via an optical element provided on the lower edge of the inside of the front panel and emitted via the outside and / or the lower edge. Thus, the lower area of the front panel is illuminated, distinguishing it from the extractor housing and giving the extractor hood a different appearance.

[0036] According to a further embodiment, in addition to or alternatively to a translucent region adjacent to the lower edge, in particular the inside of the front panel, a translucent region is provided which is spaced upwards from the lower edge of the inside of the front panel. This further or alternative translucent region is preferably spaced upwards from the region adjacent to the lower edge of the front panel. This further or alternative translucent region can also be strip-shaped and extend in the width direction of the front panel or have a different shape, for example a triangular shape, a semicircle shape, or the like. In addition, this region can also represent a logo, for example.

[0037] With a translucent area spaced from the lower edge, a light effect can be emitted forwards in the surface of the front panel.

[0038] The optical element has at least one reflective surface that is inclined relative to the inside of the front panel. The reflective surface can also be referred to as a reflector. In particular, the reflective surface is inclined such that the angle between this reflective surface and the inside of the front panel is sufficient to redirect at least part of the light emitted by the lighting device parallel or substantially parallel to the inside of the front panel onto the inside of the front panel. The reflective surface can be formed, for example, by a reflective sheet.

[0039] According to a preferred embodiment, the optical element consists of a base body to which a chamfer is attached to the underside, so that when the optical element is attached to the inside of the front panel, the angle between the inside of the front panel and the surface of the chamfer facing the interior of the base body is less than 90°. The base body can be a strip with a rectangular cross-section that extends across the width of the front panel. The embodiment of an optical element as a base body with a chamfer has a number of advantages. Firstly, in this embodiment, the reflective surface lies inside the optical element and is therefore protected from contaminants contained in the vapors and fumes. Furthermore, due to the chamfer provided on the base body, there are no sharp edges in the flow path of the vapors and fumes. In addition, the base body can serve as a light guide, thus guiding the light emitted by the lighting device to the reflection surface. Finally, the attachment of the optical element is simplified in this embodiment compared to a reflection plate, since the base body can be attached to the inside of the front panel for attachment to the inside.

[0040] According to one embodiment, the optical element is made of a transparent or translucent material. This ensures light transmission within the optical element. The optical element can be made of a plastic, such as polycarbonate, for example.

[0041] According to one embodiment, the surface of the chamfer has a surface roughness that is greater than that of a polished surface. Therefore, complete optical polishing is not required. This allows a certain homogeneity of the light in the base body to be achieved after deflection. Furthermore, the production of the optical element is simplified.

[0042] In addition to the chamfered surface, the other surfaces of the base body can also have a surface roughness greater than that of a polished surface. This can ensure a certain homogeneity of the light entering and exiting the base body. Furthermore, this further simplifies the production of the optical element.

[0043] The edges of the base body, in particular between the chamfer and the adjacent surfaces of the optical element, may have a radius or a bevel, which may, for example, have a width of at least 0.25 mm.

[0044] The invention is described again below with reference to the accompanying figures. They show: Figure 1: a schematic, side sectional view of an embodiment of an extractor hood according to the invention; Figure 2: a schematic, perspective rear view of the front panel of the embodiment of the extractor hood according to Figure 1 ; Figure 3: a schematic sectional view of the front panel, the lighting device and the optical element according to Figure 2 ; Figure 3a: a detailed view of the lower edge of the front panel with optical element made of Figure 3 ; Figure 3b: another detailed view of the lower edge of the front panel with optical element made of Figure 3; Figure 4: a schematic block diagram of the embodiment of the extractor hood according to the invention according to Figure 1 with the front panel in a first position; Figure 5: a schematic block diagram of one of the embodiments of the extractor hood according to the invention according to Figure 4 with the front panel in a second position; Figure 6: a schematic, perspective sectional view of the lower edge region of one embodiment of the front panel; and Figure 7: a schematic, perspective sectional view of the lower edge region of another embodiment of the front panel.

[0045] In Figure 1An embodiment of an extractor hood 1 according to the invention is shown. In the illustrated embodiment, the extractor hood 1 has an extractor housing 10 and a front flap 11. The fan 16 of the extractor hood 1 is accommodated in the extractor housing 10. The front of the extractor housing 10 is inclined upwards from the horizontal. An inlet opening 12 is provided in the front, in which a filter element 15 is inserted. The size of the inlet opening 12 is smaller than the size of the front of the extractor housing 10. In the illustrated embodiment, the inlet opening 12 is therefore formed by the bottom of a recess in the front of the extractor housing 10. As a result, an extraction chamber 14 is formed in the front of the extractor housing 10. Towards the front, the extraction chamber 14 is partially delimited by the front flap 11. The front flap 11 is in the Figure 1shown embodiment parallel to the front of the extractor housing 10 and also parallel to the intake opening 12. The lower edge of the front flap 11 is in the Figure 1 shown state is displaced upwards to the underside of the extractor housing 10 and in particular to the underside of the extraction chamber 14. From this state, the front panel 11 can also be brought into a state in which the front panel 11 is displaced downwards such that the lower edge of the front panel 11 lies in the plane of the underside of the extractor housing, which will be explained later with reference to the Figure 4 and 5 is explained in more detail.

[0046] By offsetting the lower edge of the front panel 11 upwards, an intake gap 13 is formed, through which vapors and fumes can reach the extraction chamber 14 and in particular the inlet opening 12. A gap for the intake of vapors and fumes can also be formed on the lateral edges of the front panel 11, between the front of the extractor housing 10 and the inside of the front panel 11. For this purpose, the front panel 11 can be arranged at a distance from the front of the extractor housing 10. The width of the front panel 11 preferably corresponds to the width of the extractor housing 10 and can also be greater than the width of the extractor housing 10.

[0047] In the embodiment according to Figure 1 A lighting device 2 is arranged on the inside of the front flap 11.

[0048] The lighting device 2 is made in particular of Figure 2The lighting device 2 extends in the width direction of the front panel 11, but in the illustrated embodiment has a smaller width than the front panel 11. In particular, in the illustrated embodiment, the lighting device 2 is arranged between two rails of a holder 18, which are each arranged at a distance from the side edges of the front panel 11 in the vertical direction of the front panel 11. At the upper end of the holder, in the region of the upper edge of the front panel 11, hinges 181 are provided, via which the front panel can be connected to the extractor housing 10.

[0049] The lighting device 2 is connected via a connecting channel 170 to an electronics box 17, which is arranged offset upwards from the lighting device 2 on the inside of the front panel 11.

[0050] The lighting device 2 has a cover 200 which is Figure 2is shown transparent to allow a view into the interior of the cover 200. Light sources 20 of the lighting device 2 are arranged beneath the cover 200. In the embodiment shown, six light sources 20 are arranged next to one another. However, the invention is not limited to this number. The cover 200 can also be a housing that completely surrounds the light sources 20 and, if appropriate, other parts (not shown) of the lighting device 2. Light outlets 2001 are provided in the underside of the cover 200, through which light from the light sources 20 can emerge downwards from the cover 200 and thus from the lighting device 2. An optical element 21 is fastened to the lower edge of the front panel 11 on the inside of the front panel 11. In the embodiment shown, the optical element 21 extends across the entire width of the front panel 11.

[0051] As can be seen from Figure 3 , Figure 3a and Figure 3bThe optical element 21 consists of a base body 210 having a chamfer 211 on its underside, forming a reflection surface 212 that is inclined toward the inside of the front panel 11. In particular, the smallest angle between the reflection surface 212 and the inside of the front panel 11 is, for example, 45°.

[0052] The height of the optical element 21 in the embodiment shown is less than the height of the lighting device 2 but in particular greater than the distance between the inside of the front plate 11 and the light outlet 2001. As a result, the light L emitted by the lighting device 2, which is directed downwards, is split into light L1, which radiates past the optical element 21, and light L2, which enters the optical element 21. As can be seen from Figure 3bThis light L2 is deflected at the reflection surface 212 in the optical element 21 and passes through the lower region of the front panel 11 and can exit at the front or outside of the front panel 11. As a result, the front panel 11 is illuminated in the lower region, possibly also partially above the lower edge 110. The light emitted forward by the optical element is designated L3 in the figures.

[0053] In Figure 4 is an embodiment of the extractor hood 1 according to Figure 1 shown in block diagram. In the Figure 4In the state shown, the front panel 11 is positioned relative to the extractor housing 10 such that the lower edge of the front panel 11 is flush with the underside of the extractor housing 10. Between the inside of the front panel 11 and the front of the extractor housing 10, there is at least a gap at the bottom through which fumes and vapors can be sucked into the extraction chamber 14. As can be seen from Figure 4The light L emitted by the lighting device 2, and in particular by the light source 20 of the lighting device 2, is emitted downwards essentially parallel to the inside of the front panel 11. The light L is partially deflected by the optical element 21, which is arranged on the lower edge of the inside of the front panel 11. This forms two light beams L2 and L3. The light L1 is emitted essentially in the original direction of the light L, i.e. parallel to the inside of the front panel 11, and exits downwards via the intake gap 13. The light L3, on the other hand, is generated by the part of the light L that enters the optical element 21 and is deflected therein. This light exits via the front or outside of the front panel 11 essentially perpendicular to the original direction of the light L.Thus, light L1 illuminates the vapors and fumes flowing toward the extractor hood 1. Light L3, on the other hand, illuminates the lower area of the front panel 11.

[0054] In Figure 5 The extractor hood 1 is shown in a state in which the front panel 11 is displaced upwards relative to the extractor housing 10. In this state, the lower edge of the front panel 11 is offset upwards relative to the lower edge of the extractor housing 10. This increases the intake gap 13. This state of the extractor hood 1 can also be referred to as the operating state. In this state, as with respect to Figure 4As already described, the light L from the lighting device 2, and in particular from the light source 20, is split into a light beam L1 and a light beam L2. The lower edge of the front panel 11 lies in a plane that lies above the underside of the extractor housing 10. However, even in the operating state, the lower edge of the front panel 11 lies below the plane of the lower edge of the inlet opening 12 of the extractor housing 10. Thus, in the operating state, the lower slope 140 of the extraction chamber 14 is visible to the user from the front.

[0055] As in Figure 5 As indicated schematically, the lower slope 140 of the extraction chamber 14 is illuminated by the light L. Since the light L is generally emitted by the lighting device 2 in the form of a light cone, at least a part of the light L is directed onto the lower slope 140. This is shown in Figure 5indicated schematically by the arrow L4. Thus, in the operating state of the extractor hood 1, at least a portion of the vapors and fumes flowing toward the extractor hood 1 is illuminated or illuminated by the light L1, at least a portion of the lower slope 140 of the extraction chamber is illuminated or illuminated by the light L4, and the lower region of the front panel 11 is illuminated or illuminated by the light L3.

[0056] The front panel 11 can be removed from the Figure 4 shown, closed state or rest state in the Figure 5 shown operating state, for example, by the actuating mechanism 182, which is in Figure 1 and 2 shown schematically. The actuating mechanism 182 can also be used to pivot the front panel 11 to allow the user access to the inlet opening 12 and the filter element 15 provided therein, or for other maintenance and cleaning purposes.

[0057] In Figure 6 an embodiment of the front panel 11 is shown in the lower region. In this embodiment, the optical element 21 is arranged on the lower edge of the inside of the front panel 11. In addition, in the embodiment shown, a coating or printing layer 213 is provided on the inside of the front panel 11. In the area of the bevel 211 of the optical element 21, the coating or printing is left out, so that a light-transmissive area 113 is formed. As a result, the coupling of the light L2 deflected in the optical element 21 can be specifically directed to the lower area of the front panel 11. Also on the inside of the optical element 21, Figure 6 A further coating is schematically indicated, through which the light conduction in the base body 210 to the bevel 211 can be supported. Finally, in the embodiment shown, a lower bevel 112 is provided on the front side of the front panel 11.

[0058] In Figure 7 A further embodiment of the lower portion of the front panel 11 is shown. The embodiment according to Figure 7 differs from that in Figure 6 shown embodiment in that in the embodiment according to Figure 7 the optical element 21 is arranged offset upwards from the lower edge of the front panel 11. In addition, in this embodiment, an edge cover 111 is arranged on the outside or front side of the lower edge of the front panel 11, which is opaque. In the embodiment shown, the edge cover 111 is attached to a step provided on the lower edge of the front panel 11. By means of the Figure 7In the arrangement shown, the light L3 emitted by the optical element 21 can be emitted forward through the surface of the front panel 11. Specifically, the light is emitted forward in the area between the upper edge of the opaque edge cover 111 and the upper edge of the light-transmitting area 113 of the printing or coating 114 of the inner surface of the front panel 11.

[0059] The present invention is not limited to the embodiments shown. In particular, the shape and attachment of the optical element may differ from that shown, as long as it has a reflective surface through which at least part of the light emitted by the lighting device can be redirected toward the front panel. The design of the lower edge of the front panel may also differ from the embodiments shown and, for example, have only a rounded portion.

[0060] The lighting device according to the invention with the optical element can also be referred to as line and haze lighting.

[0061] Preferably, the invention serves to create an "atmospheric" lighting, which can also be referred to as mood lighting, in a sloping ceiling.

[0062] In particular, light can preferably be used with the present invention to emphasize or highlight design elements, such as glass edges or unprinted parts in the front panel, in particular glass panel, as well as to illuminate the extraction area of the extractor hood and to illuminate the fumes and vapors that are sucked into the extractor hood.

[0063] The lighting device that can be used according to the invention can have a single light source or a group of light sources, which can then be considered as one. Furthermore, according to the invention, an optical element is provided to split the light and guide a portion of the light through a design element, in particular a portion of the front panel. The light source(s) are arranged at a distance from the edges of the front panel of the extractor hood. The optical element can be designed as a light guide and can be used to split the light beam emitted by the lighting device and guide a portion of the light through the front panel.

[0064] The optical element can be positioned at the edge of the front panel or between the edge and the lighting fixture. The distance between the edge and the lighting fixture, also referred to as the light source arrangement, can be varied but is greater than zero to ensure that the performance of the range hood is not affected.

[0065] In one embodiment, the light is guided through the edge of the front panel. In another embodiment, the light is guided through areas of the front panel, which are preferably made of glass and can therefore also be referred to as a glass front panel, and which, for example, have diffuse printing. It is also possible to guide the light entirely through a completely print-free area of a printed glass panel / front panel.

[0066] The optical element can be made of a transparent or translucent material and can be made of plastic, such as polycarbonate.

[0067] The edges and surfaces of the optical element do not have to be completely optically polished, although theory might suggest otherwise, as it is important for the

[0068] For homogeneity, low roughness can be advantageous. All edges of the optical element that can be touched by the user preferably have a radius or chamfer of at least 0.25 mm to ensure user safety.

[0069] The present invention offers several advantages. In particular, the lighting device or light source is arranged at a distance from the edge of the front panel, so that the airflow into the extractor hood is not obstructed and thus the performance of the extractor hood is not negatively affected. In addition, the optical element is preferably significantly lower in height than the lighting device.

[0070] Furthermore, with the present invention, the light from one or a group of light sources can be split by the optical element to achieve separate effects. In particular, at least two different lighting effects can be realized with one type of lighting device. Furthermore, the back of the front panel is given a clean appearance. Reference symbol list
