Abstract

The invention relates to a separating unit for a packaging machine for packaging food products. The separating unit is designed to machine a material web being moved in the packaging machine along a transport direction by means of a plurality of separating elements of the same type or different types. The separating unit comprises a plurality of separate assemblies arranged one over the other in the working direction, namely a base part, in particular a cover-like base part; a support frame that is secured to the base part and has a face facing away from the base part on which the separating plane lies; at least one holding plate between the support frame and the base part, said holding plate being movably mounted on or in the support frame in the working direction and having a face facing away from the base part on which at least one separating element, preferably a plurality of separating elements, protruding in the working direction is / are attached, wherein the support frame is provided with openings for the separating elements; and at least one pressure plate, which functions as a drive for the holding plate and which can be supplied with compressed air that can be connected to the separating unit, between the holding plate and the base part, said pressure plate being designed to adjust the holding plate between a passive position, in which the separating elements are retracted into the openings of the support frame, and an active position, in which the separating elements are extended out of the openings and through the separating plane.
