AI Technical Summary
Existing glass containers do not optimize the ratio between weight and volume for holding liquids, limiting their efficiency and recyclability.
The glass container design features a specific height-to-diameter ratio of 1.3 to 1.4 times, with optimized curvature lines for the tapered transition sections, reducing glass weight while maintaining volume for holding contents.
This design achieves a glass weight-to-volume ratio of less than 0.40, enhancing the container's efficiency and recyclability by minimizing material usage.

Abstract
Description
[0001] A glass container, in particular for holding liquids, has a cylindrical main body having an upper end portion and a lower end portion and, between its upper end portion and its lower end portion, a label insertion portion with a diameter slightly reduced compared to its maximum diameter, a base, a tapered lower transition portion arranged between the lower end of the lower end portion of the cylindrical main body and the base and tapering in the direction from the cylindrical main body to the base, a mouth portion with a container opening through which the glass container can be filled and emptied, a tapered upper transition portion arranged between the upper end of the upper end portion of the cylindrical main body and the mouth portion, which tapers in the direction from the cylindrical main body to the mouth section and whose curvature line has an inflection point, above which the tapered upper transition section merges into the mouth section at a connecting section.
[0002] Such glass containers are used in a wide variety of configurations, whereby such glass containers can also be used multiple times as circulating containers.
[0003] Starting from the glass container described above and known from the prior art, the object of the invention is to create such a glass container in which the ratio between the weight of the glass container and the volume of the glass container that can be used to hold ingredients is improved.
[0004] This object is achieved according to the invention for the glass container described above in that the height of the glass container is 1.3 to 1.4 times the maximum diameter of the cylindrical main body of the glass container.
[0005] According to an advantageous embodiment of the glass container according to the invention, the height of the glass container is 1.34 times the maximum diameter of the cylindrical main body of the glass container.
[0006] In a further advantageous embodiment of the glass container according to the invention, the mouth section forming the container opening is cylindrical, wherein the diameter at the connecting section of the upper transition section to the mouth section of the glass container is 0.75 to 0.85 times the maximum diameter of the cylindrical main body of the glass container.
[0007] It is particularly advantageous if the diameter of the connecting section is 0.79 times the maximum diameter of the cylindrical main body of the glass container.
[0008] An optimization of the amount of glass required to design the glass container according to the invention is achieved when the curvature line of the tapered lower transition section and the section below the inflection point of the curvature line of the tapered upper transition section are arranged on a circle.
[0009] The ratio between its glass weight in g and its volume in cm 3 is in the case of the glass container according to the invention advantageously <0.40 and preferably <0.37.
[0010] A ratio of approximately 0.35 has proven to be particularly advantageous between glass weight and volume.
[0011] In the following, the invention is explained in more detail using an embodiment with reference to the drawing, the single figure of which shows a schematic diagram of an embodiment of a glass container according to the invention.
[0012] Figure 1 shows a glass container 1, which is usually used to hold liquids or liquid-containing contents. Figure 1The glass container 1 shown using an exemplary embodiment has a cylindrical main body 2. The cylindrical main body 2 includes an upper end section 3, viewed in the vertical direction of the glass container 1, and a lower end section 4, also viewed in the vertical direction of the glass container 1. The cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container 1 has its maximum diameter d at its upper end section 3 and at its lower end section 4. Between the lower end of the upper end section 3 and the upper end of the lower end section 4 of the cylindrical main body, the latter has a label feed section 5, the diameter of which is slightly reduced compared to the maximum diameter d of the cylindrical main body 2. This reduction in the area of the label feed section 5 of the cylindrical main body 2 protects a label or the like applied to the cylindrical main body 2 against damage.
[0013] A lower transition section 7 is arranged between a bottom 6 closing the glass container 1 at the bottom and the cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container 1. This lower transition section 7 of the glass container 1 tapers between the lower end section 4 of the cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container and the bottom 6.
[0014] At its upper end, the glass container 1 has a mouth section 8 which is cylindrical in the illustrated embodiment and on the upper edge of which a container opening 9 is formed through which the glass container 1 can be filled and emptied.
[0015] Between the upper end section 3 of the cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container 1 and the mouth section 8 of the glass container 1, there is an upper transition section 10 of the glass container 1, which tapers between the upper transition section 10 of the cylindrical main body 2 and the mouth section 8. The curvature line of the upper transition section 10 has an inflection point 11. At its upper end, the upper transition section 10 of the glass container 1 forms a connecting section 12, at which the upper transition section 10 of the glass container 1 merges into its mouth section 8. This connecting section 12 has a diameter d 1 .
[0016] A vertical extension of the glass container 1 with - seen from top to bottom - the mouth section 8, the upper transition section 10 with the connection section 12, the cylindrical main body 2 with the upper end section 3, the label feed section 5 and the lower end section 4, the lower transition section 7 and the base 6 has the height h, which thus extends from the lower surface of the base 6 to the upper edge of the mouth section 8.
[0017] In Figure 1In the embodiment of the glass container 1 shown, the curvature line of the tapered lower transition section 7 and the curvature line of the section of the tapered upper transition section 10 of the container arranged below the inflection point 11 run on a circle. The ratio between the height h of the glass container 1, on the one hand, and the maximum diameter d of the cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container 1, on the other hand, is 1.3 ≤h / d ≤1.4. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the glass container 1, the ratio between the height h of the glass container 1, on the one hand, and the maximum diameter d of the cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container 1, on the other hand, is h / d = 1.34.The ratio between the diameter di of the connecting portion 12 of the upper transition portion 10 of the glass container 1, on the one hand, and the maximum diameter d of the cylindrical main body 2 of the glass container 1, on the other hand, is 0.75 ≤d 1 / d ≤0.85. Preferably, this ratio d 1 / d is approximately 0.79.
[0018] In the case of the glass container 1 described above, a ratio between its glass weight G in g and its volume V in cm 3 can be achieved, where G / V is <0.40 or even <0.37. Preferably, this ratio between glass weight G and volume V in cm 3 can be approximately 0.35.
