Abstract
Description
[0001] Device for covering a light shaft opening
[0002] The invention relates to a device for covering a light shaft opening for the interior of a building or similar structure, wherein the cover is provided with a housing frame and a laminated safety glass or the like tightly fastened therein, wherein the housing frame is provided with at least one passage opening for the passage of air between the interior and the exterior space.
[0003] A device of this type is disclosed in Swiss Patent No. 705 884. Such permanently installed floor glazings generally have the peculiarity that they cannot be opened, thus preventing access to the interior for ventilation by opening them. Such ventilation would generally be desirable to allow fresh air to enter the building's interior and expel the air present in the room to the outside.
[0004] For this purpose, it is generally known to equip the building with one or more separate ventilation shafts or, in a simple design, to provide one or more openings in the casing frame of the light well cover instead of separate ventilation shafts. However, such a design has the disadvantage that it does not allow, or only allows to a limited extent, control of the intake of fresh air or the discharge of indoor air.
[0005] The invention is based on the object of avoiding these disadvantages and of creating a device of the type mentioned at the outset which, with a compact and thus space-saving design, enables ventilation and, if necessary, control of the air quantity from the interior to the exterior and / or vice versa using structurally simple means.
[0006] This object is achieved according to the invention in that the at least one passage opening in the housing frame can be adjusted from an open to a closed position or vice versa by a closing member of the device which is integrated in the housing frame and can be actuated manually and / or by motor.
[0007] With this device according to the invention, it is achieved that the housing frame not only accommodates the laminated safety glass of the light shaft in an absolutely tight and robust manner, but with this passage opening in the housing frame, which can be adjusted from an open to a closed position or vice versa by means of the actuatable closing element of the device, an air supply and / or air discharge can be effected or a closed state can be set.
[0008] In the interests of simplicity, it is advantageous if the device's closing element is designed as a flap equipped with an adjustment mechanism, which can be pressed against a support surface of the housing frame that contains the passage opening. This support surface is preferably arranged in the housing frame in such a way that, when the flap is closed or open, no water penetrates into the building, even during rain.
[0009] For the purpose of a structurally simple and reliable design, the invention further provides for the flap's adjustment mechanism to be implemented with a lever deflection, one end of which is preferably pivoted centrally on the flap and the other end of which is mounted on the rotational axis of a pivoting element of the adjustment mechanism. The latter can be operated manually and / or by a controllable motor drive. With a motor drive, the ventilation can also be controlled automatically, for example, according to a predefined program, preferably depending on the outside temperature.
[0010] The invention also provides that the housing frame is designed in the shape of a frame, has support surfaces for the laminated safety glass inserted therein and is provided with adjacent cavities for receiving the locking member including the adjustment mechanism of the device, the upper support surface of which is flush with that of the laminated safety glass, wherein it is provided there with opening slots for the passage of air.
[0011] The housing frame thus fulfills a dual function: firstly, as a support frame for the glass cover and, secondly, as an air vent with the device, including the adjustment mechanism and its associated drive motor. Furthermore, the entire structure is mounted flush with the floor, so there are no steps and it can be walked on or driven over unhindered, regardless of whether the flap of the closing device is open or closed.
[0012] To collect water penetrating the cavity of the housing frame during rain, for example, the invention further provides that the support surface and the flap, when closed, are inclined outward toward the horizontal and open into a channel underneath to collect the wastewater. To drain any accumulated water, the channel underneath is connected to at least one laterally projecting drain nozzle for discharging the wastewater.
[0013] For active ventilation of the room inside the building, the device can be equipped with at least one fan for sucking in outside air and / or for blowing away inside air through the at least one passage opening of the housing frame.
[0014] Within the scope of the invention, the open areas of the housing frame are provided with slotted openings or grille covers on the inside and outside for air passage. The invention and further advantages thereof are explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings. They show:
[0015] Fig. 1 is a partial perspective view with a cross section of a cover of a light shaft opening of a device according to the invention;
[0016] Fig. 2 shows a cross-section of the cover and the device according to Fig. 1 in the open position of the passage opening; and
[0017] Fig. 3 shows a cross-section of the cover and the device according to Fig. 1 in the closed position of the passage opening.
[0018] Fig. 1 to Fig. 3 show a cover for a light shaft opening 25 as a skylight with a rectangular cross-section for the interior of a building or structure. It essentially comprises a housing frame 2 that can be fastened to the concrete ceiling 1 of a building and a laminated safety glass 3 tightly inserted therein, which is composed of two laminated glass units 4, 5. These are supported and sealed on internal supports 6, 7 of the housing frame 2. The latter is mounted on an insulating frame 8 in the concrete ceiling 1 of the building. Pressure distribution plates 9 are arranged between the insulating frame 8 and the housing frame 2 standing on it, which ensure that the housing frame with the laminated safety glass inserted therein rests evenly. The housing frame 2 can be made in one or more parts. Such covers are particularly suitable as floor coverings. They can also be installed on roofs, as flat roof windows with a comparable base frame in buildings or similar structures. Of course, they can be designed differently than shown. For example, the light well opening 25 and, with it, the housing frame 2 can be square, polygonal, round, oval, or similarly shaped, as required, instead of rectangular. Likewise, instead of laminated safety glass 3, only one or more individual glass panes or similar transparent materials can be used.
[0019] The housing frame 2 is frame-shaped and has a cavity 29 adjacent to the laminated safety glass 3 on the outside. This cavity is delimited at the top by a cover 14 of the housing frame 2, which is flush with the outer surface of the laminated safety glass 3 and is provided with opening slots 15 for air passage. A bracket 28 supported on the insulating frame 8 is positioned with an elongated opening 11 for air passage between the interior 25' and the exterior 26 of the building.
[0020] According to the invention, the passage opening 11 can be opened or closed by a device 10 integrated into the housing frame 2 with a closing member 12. The closing member 12 comprises an adjusting mechanism 16 and a flap 17 adjustable by the latter, which can be pressed tightly all around onto a support surface 18 of the bracket 28 surrounding the passage opening 11 for closing or can be moved away from it for opening. The adjusting mechanism 16 has a single- or multi-armed lever deflection 19, one end of which is preferably pivotally connected to the flap 17 and the other end of which is rotationally connected to a drive on a rotation axis 13' of a pivoting member 13. The flap 17 is mounted in the cavity 29 above the bracket 28 on a pivot joint 17' on the housing frame 2 and can be actuated by this lever deflection 19 extending through the passage opening 11.The pivoting member 13 and a drive motor 21 connected to it for rotation are fastened in a recess of the insulation frame 8 in a chamber 22 located below the bracket 28.
[0021] The drive motor 21, in turn, enables continuous control of the ventilation, if necessary according to a predetermined control or regulation, preferably depending on the outside temperature. The device can be equipped with active ventilation by means of a fan (not shown in detail) for drawing in outside air and / or discharging inside air. The arrows 27 in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 indicate one direction of air movement.
[0022] This device 10 has the fundamental advantage that, even with firmly and tightly installed glazing, it allows a closable ventilation passage through the housing frame. The cover can still be flush with the floor, allowing unhindered access to the area, regardless of whether the flap 17 of the device 10 is open or closed. Furthermore, the surrounding housing frame 2 and the flap 17 are designed to ensure good thermal insulation of the frame. In a simpler design, the pivoting element 13 could be equipped with a manually operable pivot lever or the like instead of a drive motor.
[0023] The flap 17 is arranged in the housing frame 2 in such a way that no rainwater can penetrate into the interior of the building when the flap is open or closed. Accordingly, the support surface 18 of the bracket 28 is arranged at an angle relative to the upper cover 14 of the housing frame 2, so that any water flowing in is drained away when the flap is closed, as well as when the flap is open. Accordingly, the support surface 18 and the flap 17 in the closed state are inclined outwards towards the horizontal as shown in Fig. 3 and open into a channel 20 running underneath the flap 17 to collect the wastewater, which can flow away through one or more lateral outlet nozzles 24, each with a drain line on the outside of the housing frame 2. When the flap 17 is open, rainwater can flow through the opening slots 15 and this further cavity 29' into the channel 20 running underneath and through the drain nozzle 24.Preferably, a fine grid is installed between the cavities 29, 29', which primarily prevents small animals and dirt from entering the interior space 25'.
[0024] The device 10 is provided with a removable grille cover 23 in the area facing the interior 25', primarily as a visual barrier. Removing the cover 14 provides additional access to the device 10 for cleaning and maintenance. In the illustrated embodiment, the device 10 is arranged on one long side for rectangular light well covers. It could also be arranged on two or all four long sides of the housing frame 2. By providing multiple devices and passage openings 11, the ventilation could be operated with increased airflow.
[0025] As illustrated, the flap can be pivoted by this multi-armed lever mechanism. A lever mechanism could also be attached to each side of the flap, which preferably extends approximately the entire length of the housing frame.
[0026] The flap adjustment mechanism could just as well be equipped with a linear drive and the flap would then be movable perpendicular to the support surface of the console.
[0027] In principle, the device and the console with the passage opening could be installed in the chamber 22 or below the laminated safety glass.
