Abstract
Description
[0001] SAFE DRIVING SYSTEM
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The invention relates to safe driving system, which is activated when the tail lift and loading cover in the trailer are open.
[0004] The invention relates to the safe driving system, which detects that the tail lift and loading cover in the trailer are open by means of the sensor installed on it and activates if the tail lift or loading cover is open.
[0005] THE PREVIOUS TECHNIQUE
[0006] Today’s trailer vehicles are optionally equipped with a ‘Safe Driving’ function, which prevents the vehicle from moving by automatically braking in loading or unloading situations. Trailers are vehicles that are towed by a motor vehicle and that is equipped at least with one axle designed and manufactured according to the characteristics of the load they are designed to carry, and that are coupled to the towing vehicle by means of a coupling device such as a drawbar, pivot plate, hook, kingpin, etc. The semi-trailers are road vehicles for load carrying, and are classified as 01 , 02, 03, 04 according to the road regulations. Conditions such as a dump truck with a lifted damper or a tanker with the tank door open trigger the activation of safe driving. This function warns the driver with 10 short warning brakes when the preset speed is exceeded. If the vehicle continues to move, the function prevents the vehicle from moving by applying full brake when the second set speed threshold is exceeded. Then, after 20 seconds, the brakes are released and the function is disabled. After the ignition is turned off and on, the safe driving function is reactivated.
[0007] The Van Eck Twindeck vehicles are equipped with a tail lift at the rear of the vehicle and a cover for 220V mains supply on the front right side. During supply via the 220V mains voltage, the right front cover is open and there is a cable connection between the electronic equipment and the mains. The tail lift at the rear is also manually controlled. In some cases, the door of the tail lift may not be fully closed due to a user error. There is no system that prevents the damage that may occur in such cases.
[0008] As a result of researches carried out in the literature, a Turkish patent application with application number “2022 / 006896“ and invention title “Adjustable Tail Lift Connection Equipment” was found. The said application relates to a tail lift connection equipment, which is used in trailer vehicles towed by a motor vehicle to carry load on highways and consists of a kingpin assembly, an intermediate chassis assembly connected to the rear of the kingpin assembly, an axle set connected to the rear of the intermediate chassis assembly, a rear chassis assembly connected to the rear of the axle set and a tail lift, and which allows the tail lift to be connected to the rear chassis assembly both vertically and horizontally. However, the system in the said application does not relate to the safe driving system, which detects that the tail lift and loading cover in the trailer are open by means of the sensor installed on it and activates if the tail lift or loading cover is open.
[0009] As a result of researches carried out in the literature, a Turkish patent application with application number “2020 / 07623” and invention title “Improvements Made on the Hydraulic Loading and Unloading Lift” was found. The said application relates to the hydraulic loading and unloading lift, which saves time, space and labor in any section or area where load is lifted, lowered, transported and unloaded in furniture manufacturing, iron joinery and similar industries. However, the system in the said application does not relate to the safe driving system, which detects that the tail lift and loading cover in the trailer are open by means of the sensor installed on it and activates if the tail lift or loading cover is open.
[0010] As a result, the issues mentioned above and cannot be solved with the current technique made it necessary to make an innovation in the relevant technical field.
[0011] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The invention relates to the safe driving system, which aims to eliminate the above mentioned disadvantages and brings new advantages to the relevant technical field. The main purpose of the invention is to detect that the tail lift and loading cover in the trailer are open by means of the sensor installed on it and stops the trailer for a certain time if the tail lift or loading cover is open.
[0013] The invention, which aims to fulfill the above mentioned and below detailed purposes, is a safe driving system that activates when the tail lift or loading cover in the trailer is open, and includes a distance sensor that changes its position as the magnets in it close to each other and send an electrical signal to the relay in order to detect if the tail lift or loading cover is closed, a distance sensor and a relay to ensure communication, a cable laid between the relay and EBS, a relay that activates or deactivates the safe driving system as the contacts in the relay switch their positions depending on the information received from the distance sensor, and an EBS, which receives the signal from the relay about whether the tail lift and / or loading cover is open by means of a specific software, receives the information from ABS sensor that the vehicle is moving and brakes the vehicle with certain intervals in order to warn the driver and finally supplies air to the vehicle’s bellows to fully stop the vehicle if the tail lift or loading cover is not closed.
[0014] In order to best understand the advantages of the current invention along with the additional components, the invention shall be evaluated along with the figures described below.

[0022] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0023] In this detailed description, the safe driving system (the invention) is described solely for the purpose of a better understanding of the subject matter and without any limiting effects.
[0024] The safe driving system includes a distance sensor (1), cable (2), relay (3), and EBS (4). The distance sensor (1) transmits the electrical signal as the magnets in two parts of the sensor close to each other and change their positions. When this happens, it is detected whether the tail lift or loading (front) cover is closed. The cable (2) is the signal transmitting element that is placed between the distance sensor (1) and the relay (3), relay (3) and EBS (4) to ensure communication. The relay (3) allows activation or deactivation of the safe driving system by changing its position according to the information received from the distance sensor (1), to ensure switching. EBS (4) is an electronic system that receives the information of whether the tail lift and / or the front cover is open via the specific software from the relay (3), receives information from the ABS sensor that the vehicle is moving and supplies air to the vehicle bellows to warn the driver to brake at certain intervals in order to ensure that the vehicle stops completely if the tail lift and / or the front cover is not closed.
[0025] Preferably, the Van Eck Twindeck vehicles are equipped with a tail lift at the rear of the vehicle and a cover for 220V mains supply on the front right side. During supply via the 220V mains voltage, the right front cover is open and there is a cable connection (2) between the electronic equipment and the mains. The tail lift at the rear is also manually controlled. In some cases, the door of the tail lift may not be closed fully due to a user error. In such cases, a warning can be given to the driver via the safe driving function in order to prevent any damage that may occur. A distance sensor (1) fitted on the tail lift detects that the door is fully closed. In addition, the right front cover is necessarily open when the vehicle is being charged with 220V supply. The distance sensor (1) fitted here detects that the cover is fully closed, that the vehicle is not supplied with 220V, and that there is no cable connection between the vehicle and the mains (2). If any of the distance sensors (1) on the tail lift and / or the right cover detect that the doors are not closed, they alert the driver by applying brakes 10 times in a row as soon as the vehicle starts moving. If the driver continues to move the vehicle, the sensors apply full braking and prevents movement of the vehicle. After 20 seconds, the brakes are released and the vehicle can move. After the contact is closed and opened again, the function reactivates.
[0026] Currently, there are no sensors on the tail lift or on the right front cover. There is no system to prevent the movement of the vehicle when the tail lift is open or when it is electrically connected to the mains with 220V power. Moving the vehicle with the tail lift is open and / or being charged with 220V may cause loss of life and property.
[0027] With the safe driving system, full protection will be ensured, preferably at the doors of Twindeck vehicles that open towards outside. The compact structure of the vehicle will be further protected. There are no systemic safety measures in the current situation. The control is completely under user’s responsibility. The most important advantage of the invention is that it offers a systemic protection rather than a user control. A safe working environment will be ensured as the vehicle will not be able to move while the tail lift is running and / or being charged with 220V power.
[0028] The distance sensors (1) check whether the tail lift and right front door are closed. If any of the doors are open, the sensors send a signal to the relay (3) and makes the relay (3) to be pulled. When the relay (3) is pulled, its contacts change their places and this information is transmitted to the EBS (4) via the relay (3). EBS (4) detects that any or both of the doors are open by means of the embedded software and brakes the vehicle. If the vehicle continues to move after 10 consecutive deceleration actions the EBS (4) activates and allows the vehicle to brake fully in order to prevent the vehicle from moving. If the contact is closed and opened again, the function is reactivated.
[0029] The tail lift is the section at the rearmost side of the vehicle and not only serves as the rear door of the vehicle but also used as a lift during loading / unloading operations. All Twindeck vehicles manufactured at the Van Eck factory are equipped with a tail lift system. On the upper side of the kingpin section of Twindeck vehicles there is a compartment where electronic equipment such as Battery / Battery Charger / Fuses etc. are placed. In addition, other equipment such as a spare tire can also be placed in this compartment according to customer’s choice. The opening door is usually located on the right side of the vehicle (based on the driving direction). This compartment has no relation with the tail lift. It is located in the front section of the vehicle.
[0030] There are distance sensors (1) both on the tail lift and on the right front cover. The distance sensors (1) change their positions via the integrated magnet when the tail lift and / or the right front cover are closed or opened. In this way, the status information is transmitted to EBS (4).
[0031] The sensor used in the vehicle is preferably a distance sensor (1). There is a magnet inside the sensor. The distance sensor (1) has two separate parts. If these parts are brought closer to each other less than 7 mm their contacts will be displaced. This information is transmitted to the desired unit via the cables (2) on the distance sensor (1). The relays (3) are circuit elements that ensure switching in electrical systems. When the tip of the coil is energized, its contacts change their places. The contacts of the relay (3) are switched via ELEX GIO 16. When the relay (3) is pulled the circuit is opened and transmission of electrical energy is blocked. This information is transmitted via ELEX to the EBS (4) via the cables (2). EBS (4) supplies air to the brake cylinder as soon as it realizes that the line has been cut off, in order to apply braking.
[0032] EBS (4) is the abbreviation of the Electronic Braking System used in trailer vehicles. It is also known as the brain of the vehicle. All functions of the trailer vehicle are controlled from here. ECU files prepared specifically for the vehicle are loaded into the EBS (4). When creating this ECU file, the functions of the vehicle are processed here. The safe driving system is one of these functions. The operation of the system is controlled by an electrical signal sent from whichever pin this function is assigned to. The ABS sensors on the vehicle transmit the information that the vehicle is moving to the EBS (4). With the safe driving system we have developed, the safe driving function is activated if the vehicle starts to move when the tail lift and / or right front door is open. When the function is activated, EBS (4) applies braking by supplying air to the brake cylinder. If the vehicle continues to move the EBS (4) repeats this action for 10 times successively. After the 10th attempt, it applies full braking to the brake cylinder. When in full braking, the vehicle does not move even when the driver presses the acceleration pedal. The reason for this is that the brake cylinder is completely filled with air and in the braking position. The purpose of this is to warn the driver.
[0033] The vehicle may need to move in case of an emergency. Therefore, the full braking condition is disabled after 20 seconds. The vehicle can move regardless of whether the tail lift and / or the right front door is open or closed. However, the system resets itself if the vehicle’s ignition is turned off and on again. Thus, the safe driving function is reactivated.
