Description

[0001] The invention relates to a locking system and a method for securing a locking cylinder in a locking element, for example in a control cabinet door. The locking system includes a locking bolt, and the locking bolt is designed to secure the locking cylinder in a position inserted into the locking element by engaging in a bore of the locking cylinder. The invention further relates to a locking element comprising a locking system according to the invention.

[0002] Lock cylinders such as profile cylinders, profile half cylinders, and knob cylinders are secured in a lock, for example, in a lock case, using an M5 faceplate screw, in accordance with DIN 18252. To fix the lock cylinder, the faceplate screw must be tightened using a suitable tool, in particular a screwdriver. The locking element, such as a door or handle, in which the lock case is located, must be opened for tightening, as the faceplate screw is inaccessible from the outside. If a lock cylinder is to be installed in a handle, e.g., a comfort handle of a control cabinet as disclosed in EP 3 234 289 B1, this comfort handle must first be removed in order to insert the lock cylinder and secure it with the faceplate screw.

[0003] A disadvantage of conventional locking systems is that a door or cabinet must be opened to install and secure the lock cylinder, and that installation requires tools. Furthermore, if the lock cylinder is integrated into a handle, the handle must be removed. This is particularly time-consuming if, for example, a control cabinet is delivered with pre-installed comfort handles. In such cases, the comfort handles must first be removed. After inserting and securing the lock cylinder, the comfort handles must then be reinstalled.

[0004] The object of the invention is therefore to provide a locking system that enables quick, easy and preferably tool-free assembly of a locking cylinder in a locking element.

[0005] This problem is solved by a locking system with the features of claim 1. Dependent claim 20 relates to a locking system according to the invention comprising a corresponding locking element, and dependent claim 21 relates to a corresponding method for mounting a locking cylinder. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

[0006] Accordingly, a locking system is provided for securing a locking cylinder in a locking element, wherein the locking cylinder has a bore. The locking system has a locking bolt, and the locking bolt is designed to secure the locking cylinder in a position inserted into the locking element by engaging in the bore.

[0007] Because the locking system has a locking bolt, and the locking bolt is designed to engage in the bore of the lock cylinder, the invention makes it possible to fix the lock cylinder in a retracted position in the locking element by means of the locking bolt, thereby simplifying the installation of the lock cylinder, as screwing in a faceplate screw is no longer necessary. In particular, installation can be carried out without tools.

[0008] For this purpose, it can be provided that the locking bolt automatically engages in the bore as soon as the lock cylinder is inserted into the locking element. This allows for installation even when the locking element is in a closed position, for lock cylinders that are inserted from the front.

[0009] The locking bolt is preferably arranged so that the lock cylinder can only be removed from the inside of the locking element using a tool. This prevents or at least makes unauthorized removal more difficult.

[0010] Furthermore, the invention enables the rapid installation of locking cylinders through the use of a locking bolt. While prior art locking systems require approximately 10 minutes to install a locking cylinder, for example in a comfort handle of control cabinets, the installation time can be reduced to approximately 5 seconds using a locking system according to the invention.

[0011] Instead of having to remove the comfort handle, insert the cylinder, screw in the faceplate screw, and then reattach the comfort handle, the cylinder can be inserted directly without removing the handle. Installing cylinders in the locking mechanism, especially in handles, from the outside also allows, for example, the use of knob cylinders.

[0012] The bore of the lock cylinder is designed in accordance with DIN 18252 and may include an M5 thread. Furthermore, the locking system may have more than one locking bolt.

[0013] A locking bolt, as used here, is a bolt, i.e., a cylindrical connecting element, that creates a positive-locking, releasable connection between a static component (in this case, the locking element) and a movable component (in this case, the lock cylinder). For this purpose, the locking bolt may have a guide with an internal locking pin or bolt. Furthermore, the locking bolt may have an actuating element, such as a pull knob, by which the locking pin or bolt can be moved relative to the movable component to lock or unlock it.

[0014] In this context, a locking element is understood to be, for example, a door. This could be, in particular, a control cabinet door. However, other doors such as interior doors, cabinet doors, front doors, or garage doors are also included within the scope of the invention. Furthermore, the locking element can also be or include a lockable switch, an actuator for alarm systems, a key safe, or a lockable bolt such as a deadbolt. In particular, an actuating element such as a handle, for example, a window handle, is also understood to be a locking element.

[0015] Preferably, the locking system has two locking bolts, the locking bolts being designed to secure the locking cylinder in a position inserted into the locking element by engaging in the bore from opposite sides. This allows the invention to secure the locking cylinder in the locking element from both sides.

[0016] Furthermore, the locking bolt may have two tapered sections spaced apart from each other in an axial direction. The locking system includes at least one bolt that engages in these tapered sections. Preferably, the tapered sections at the two axial positions are symmetrical with respect to a cross-section of the locking bolt, for example, radially circumferential. In particular, it may be provided that the tapered sections at at least one of the two axial positions are located on opposite sides of the locking bolt. It is also preferable to have two bolts that engage in the tapered sections at two different radial positions, particularly preferably on opposite sides.

[0017] The bolt can engage in one of the two tapered sections when the locking bolt is in the unlocked position, and in the position where the locking bolt engages the bore, it can engage in the second of the two tapered sections. This allows the locking bolt to be advantageously positioned for engagement and unlocking. In particular, it can be ensured that the locking bolt, in the unlocked position, does not protrude into a recess in the locking element into which the locking cylinder can be received. This allows the locking cylinder to be inserted and removed without unwanted friction between the locking bolt and the locking cylinder.

[0018] The locking system may also include a through-hole aligned with the bore of the lock cylinder to receive the locking bolt. The locking bolt may have a protrusion on the underside of a head, and the through-hole may have a recess complementary to this protrusion. In an engaged position, the protrusion can then engage in the recess in such a way that rotation of the locking bolt is prevented or at least made more difficult.

[0019] Preferably, the locking pin has an internal thread in a front face of a head. This can, for example, be an M3 internal thread. The internal thread allows the locking pin to be pulled out, for example, from the engaged position. For this purpose, a threaded rod can be screwed into the internal thread, so that by pulling on the threaded rod the locking pin can be moved from the engaged to the unlocked position or even removed completely.

[0020] It is also possible for the locking bolt to have a chamfer at the end that engages in the bore. In this case, the locking bolt is mounted in the locking element such that the chamfer faces one mounting side.

[0021] In particular, it may be provided that the locking bolt, in an unlocked position, protrudes into a recess of the locking element into which the locking cylinder can be received.

[0022] The mounting side is defined here as the side from which the lock cylinder is inserted into and removed from the locking element. Thus, the angled surface of the locking bolt faces the lock cylinder during insertion. The invention therefore allows the lock cylinder to press against the angled surface of the locking bolt when inserted into the locking element, thus moving it outwards. This angled surface reduces the force required to insert the lock cylinder and prevents, or at least makes less likely, jamming between the locking bolt and the lock cylinder.

[0023] Furthermore, the locking system can have a groove in which the locking bolt can be mounted in a rotationally secure manner. This improves the positioning of the locking bolt. In particular, if the locking bolt has a chamfer facing one mounting side, this positioning can be maintained even when the lock cylinder is inserted.

[0024] Preferably, the locking system includes a compression spring designed to apply force to the head of the locking bolt. This improves the engagement of the locking bolt in the bore of the lock cylinder. For example, if the locking bolt has a chamfer, it is pushed outwards against the spring force when the lock cylinder is inserted. Once the lock cylinder is inserted far enough that the bore aligns with the locking bolt, the spring force pushes the locking bolt into the bore, thus securing the lock cylinder.

[0025] The inclusion of a compression spring can also enable the locking bolt to engage automatically in the bore. For example, after inserting the lock cylinder, a release mechanism can be used to release the locking cylinder from the unlocked position. The spring force then moves the locking bolt into the engaged position. To release the bolt, an actuating element such as a pull knob or an internal thread in the head of the locking bolt can be provided, allowing the locking bolt to be moved back into the unlocked position.

[0026] Furthermore, the locking system can have a receptacle for the compression spring. This allows the compression spring to be positioned in the locking element. Preferably, the receptacle is designed as a spring sleeve. The locking bolt itself can also incorporate the receptacle.

[0027] Furthermore, the locking system can include a release element for unlocking the locking bolt. This release element can be, for example, a lever, a button, or a pin. By actuating the release element, the locking bolt can be moved from an engaged position to an unlocked position. The locking bolt itself can also incorporate the release element.

[0028] It is preferably possible to provide that the unlocking element can only be operated when the locking element is in the open position. This can prevent or at least make unauthorized unlocking more difficult.

[0029] Furthermore, the locking system can feature a depth stop for the cylinder. This enables or simplifies the correct and defined positioning of the cylinder. In particular, the depth stop ensures that when the cylinder is pushed in until it reaches the stop, the cylinder bore and the locking bolt are aligned. This allows for virtually resistance-free engagement of the locking bolt in the bore.

[0030] Preferably, the locking system includes an adapter with a recess for receiving the locking cylinder, and the adapter can be inserted into the locking element. This allows different locking cylinders to be inserted into the locking element. For different locking cylinders, only a corresponding adapter is required; the locking element itself does not need to be modified.

[0031] The adapter may be provided with a fastening eyelet, and the adapter can be fastened in the locking element by means of this fastening eyelet. The invention thus enables the adapter to be attached to the locking element.

[0032] Furthermore, the adapter may be provided with a groove for mounting the locking cylinder, a depth stop for the locking cylinder, a receptacle, in particular a spring sleeve, for a compression spring, and / or a release element for unlocking the locking cylinder. This allows for advantageous positioning of the locking bolt, advantageous positioning of the locking cylinder, advantageous positioning of the compression spring, and / or advantageous unlocking of the locking bolt by the adapter.

[0033] Preferably, the locking bolt is removable and replaceable by a set screw. This allows the locking system to be used with a set screw, in accordance with the state of the art, if desired by the end user. Compatibility with existing systems can thus be achieved.

[0034] The locking system may further comprise a lock case or an operating element, in particular a handle, wherein the locking bolt is designed to secure the lock cylinder in a position inserted into the lock case or the operating element by engaging in the bore. Using the locking bolt eliminates the need to disassemble the lock case or the operating element. In particular, the use of the locking bolt allows the lock cylinder to be mounted from the outside of the operating element, so that, for example, knob cylinders can also be used.

[0035] The locking cylinder can preferably be a profile cylinder, a profile half cylinder or a knob cylinder.

[0036] The invention further relates to a locking element, for example a control cabinet door, comprising a locking system according to the invention. This allows a locking cylinder to be quickly and easily inserted and secured into the locking element without tools, using the locking bolt.

[0037] The invention is further directed to a method for mounting a locking cylinder in a locking system or in a locking element according to the invention, which comprises the following steps: Attaching the locking system to the locking element and inserting the locking cylinder into the locking system.

[0038] This allows for tool-free installation of the lock cylinder. There is no need to screw in a faceplate screw, making installation faster and / or easier. If the lock cylinder is inserted from the outside of the locking mechanism, installation can even be carried out with the locking mechanism closed.

[0039] The details and advantages disclosed for the locking system according to the invention are transferable and applicable to the locking element according to the invention as well as to the method according to the invention, and vice versa.

[0040] Further details of the invention are explained with reference to the figures below. These show: Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a lock cylinder and a faceplate screw according to the prior art; Figure 2 shows a schematic representation of securing a lock cylinder in a door according to the prior art; Figure 3 shows a schematic representation of securing a lock cylinder in a comfort handle according to the prior art; Figure 4 shows a schematic representation of a locking system for securing a lock cylinder by means of a locking bolt according to an embodiment of the invention; Figure 5 shows a perspective view (below) and a top view (above) of a locking system for securing a lock cylinder by means of two locking bolts with an adapter according to an embodiment of the invention; Figure 6 shows a perspective view of an adapter for receiving a lock cylinder according to an embodiment of the invention;and Figure 7, a perspective view of a locking system with an adapter for securing a locking cylinder by means of two locking bolts and a locking cylinder according to an embodiment of the invention.

[0041] Figure 1 Figure 10 shows a locking cylinder 10 with a bore 11 and a faceplate screw 12 according to the state of the art. According to DIN 18252, locking cylinders such as profile cylinders, profile half cylinders and knob cylinders are fastened in a lock case, for example, using the faceplate screw 12.

[0042] This shows Figure 2The process involves securing a lock cylinder 10 in a locking element designed as a door by means of a faceplate screw 12, which is screwed into the bore 11. The lock cylinder 10 is inserted into the door from one mounting side. The faceplate screw 12 can then be screwed laterally into the bore 11, as indicated by the arrow, to secure the lock cylinder 10 against unwanted movement.

[0043] Figure 3 This shows another example from the state of the art. Here, a locking cylinder 10 is inserted into a comfort handle 15, for example, for a locking element designed as a control cabinet door. As in Figure 3As can be seen, the locking cylinder 10 can only be inserted into the comfort handle 15 from the rear. Therefore, the comfort handle 15 must first be removed to install the locking cylinder 10. The locking cylinder 10 can then be fixed in an adapter 14 using the faceplate screw 12, and the adapter 14 can be attached to the comfort handle 15 using a fastening screw 13. The comfort handle 15 must then be reinstalled.

[0044] This creates a need to simplify the installation of a locking cylinder 10 in a locking element, so that this can be done in particular without tools and preferably with a closed locking element and / or without prior disassembly of an actuating element, such as a handle.

[0045] The invention proposes a locking system 100 for securing a locking cylinder 10 in a locking element, wherein the securing is no longer effected by a faceplate screw 12, but by a locking bolt 101, 120, 121. The locking cylinder 10 further has a bore 11 according to DIN 18 252 with an M5 thread. The locking bolt 101, 120, 121 is designed to secure the locking cylinder 10 in a position inserted into the locking element by engaging in the bore 11.

[0046] Figure 4 Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the invention. The locking bolt has two tapered sections 105, 106, which are spaced apart from each other in an axial direction of the locking bolt 101. The locking system 100 further comprises two bolts 103, which can engage in the tapered sections 105, 106. Thus, the locking bolt 101 is located in the Figure 4The illustration shows the lock in an unlocked position, with the bolts 103 engaging in the tapered section 105. In this position, the locking bolt 101 does not protrude into the recess 104 for receiving the lock cylinder 10, which is designed here as a profile cylinder. Therefore, the profile cylinder 10 can be inserted into the recess 104 without being obstructed by the locking bolt 101.

[0047] The locking system 100 comprises a lock case 102 and a faceplate 110. The faceplate 110 has a through-hole 107, aligned with the bore 11 of the profile cylinder 10, for receiving the locking bolt 101. Furthermore, the locking bolt 101 has a projection 109 on the underside of a head 108, and the through-hole 107 has a recess (not shown) complementary to the projection 109.

[0048] Finally, the locking bolt 101 has an internal thread in one front face of the head 108. This is here formed as an M3 thread embedded in the head 108.

[0049] A method for mounting the profile cylinder 10 in the Figure 4 The locking system 100 shown can be installed as described below. It is particularly suitable for mounting the profile cylinder 10 in a mortise lock, which is provided, for example, in a locking element designed as a door.

[0050] First, the locking system 100 according to the invention is installed in the door. The locking bolt 101 is mounted in the end plate 110 at the point where a faceplate screw 12 would normally be screwed in. The locking bolt 101 is mounted between the bolts 103 in such a way that the bolts 103 can engage in the tapered sections 105, 106.

[0051] In its initial position, i.e., an unlocked position, the locking bolt 101 is mounted so that it protrudes from the end plate 110, but does not protrude into the cutout 104 for the profile cylinder 10. The profile cylinder 10 can then simply be inserted into the cutout 104 of the locking system 100.

[0052] Once the profile cylinder 10 has reached its final position, the locking bolt 101 is moved into a position engaging the bore 11 of the locking cylinder 10. This is achieved by pressing the locking bolt 101 in until the next tapered section 106 engages between the bolts 103. One end of the locking bolt 101 is then inserted into the bore 11 of the profile cylinder 10 and locks it in place. In the engaged position, the projection 109 and the recess of the through-hole 107 are positively connected to each other in such a way that the locking bolt 101 cannot rotate. The projection 109 can, for example, be designed as a lug.

[0053] To remove the profile cylinder 10 from the lock case 102, a threaded rod can be screwed into the internal thread of the head 108 of the locking bolt 101, allowing the locking bolt 101 to be pulled out using the threaded rod. This restores the initial position, and the profile cylinder 10 can then be removed. However, this removal is only possible with the door open, meaning that the profile cylinder 10 can only be removed by someone who has the means to open the door.

[0054] The locking bolt 101 is designed to be removable, meaning it can be taken out of the locking system 100. This allows the profile cylinder 10 to also be fastened with a standard faceplate screw 12.

[0055] Custom-designed control cabinets for large production facilities in the automotive industry or standard racks for data centers are usually delivered with comfort handles 15, which are designed for customer retrofitting with locking cylinders 10. After installation, the plant operator or data center operator equips all comfort handles 15 with their own locking cylinders 10. To do this, the operator must open each door of every control cabinet or rack, adjust the locking bar to a specific position, loosen two screws, remove the comfort handle 15, and unscrew the lock adapter 14. The locking cylinder 10 can then be attached to the lock adapter 14 using the faceplate screw 12.

[0056] Then the lock adapter 14 must be screwed back into the handle 15. The mounting screws of the comfort handle 15 must be preset, and the comfort handle 15 must be reinstalled. Finally, the door is locked. The installation of a lock cylinder 10 takes approximately 10 minutes.

[0057] Figure 5 Figure 1 shows a further embodiment of the invention to reduce the effort required for mounting a locking cylinder 10, particularly in a comfort handle. For this purpose, the locking system 100 has two locking bolts 120, 121, wherein the locking bolts 120, 121 are designed to secure the locking cylinder 10 in a position inserted into the locking element by engaging in the bore 11 from opposite sides.

[0058] The two locking bolts 120, 121 each have a chamfer 130 at an end that engages in the bore 11 and are arranged on opposite sides of an adapter 122 of the locking system 100. The adapter 122 has a recess 124 for receiving the locking cylinder 10 and is mounted, for example, in a lock case or in a handle.

[0059] The adapter 122 further comprises a groove 129 in which the two locking bolts 120, 121 are mounted in a rotationally secure manner. The two locking bolts 120, 121 are oriented such that the chamfers 130 face one mounting side 131. The locking system 100 has two compression springs 125 designed to apply a force to the head of the locking bolt 120, 121. The compression springs 125 are received in receptacles 132 of the adapter 122, which are designed as spring sleeves.

[0060] Will now, as in Figure 7As shown, when the lock cylinder 10 is inserted from the outside, as indicated by the arrow, for example through a cover plate of a handle set into a lock case or from the outside into a handle, the lock cylinder 10 presses against the angled surfaces 130 and thus compresses the compression springs 125. If the lock cylinder 10 is pushed further inwards, the bore 11 finally reaches the point where the locking pins 120, 121 are located. The pressure on the compression springs 125 decreases and the locking pins 120, 121 are pressed into the bore 11, preventing the lock cylinder 10 from being pushed further inwards or outwards.

[0061] The adapter 122 features a depth stop 127 for the locking cylinder 10, thus enabling defined positioning of the locking cylinder 10. For fastening the adapter 122 in a lock case or handle, the adapter 122 has a fastening eyelet 123. The adapter is also available in Figure 6 shown here without the locking bolts 120, 121 and without the spring sleeves 132.

[0062] If the lock cylinder needs to be removed, this is only possible if the locking element is opened, as the locking bolts 120, 121 can only be unlocked from the inside. For this purpose, the locking bolts 120, 121 each have a release element 126 for unlocking the locking bolt 120, 121. The release elements 126 are located on a side of the locking bolts 120, 121 facing away from the mounting side 131, so that they are only accessible when the locking element is in the open position. This prevents or at least makes unauthorized removal of the lock cylinder 10 more difficult.

[0063] A method for mounting a lock cylinder 10 designed as a profile half-cylinder in the Figure 5 and 7The locking system 100 shown can be implemented as described below. It is particularly suitable for mounting the profile half-cylinder in a handle, which is mounted, for example, on a locking element designed as a control cabinet door.

[0064] The adapter 122 is mounted into a handle using the mounting eyelet 123. On both sides of the adapter 122, the chamfered locking pins 120 and 121 are mounted such that the chamfers 130 face outwards, towards the mounting side 131. The locking pins 120 and 121 are mounted in the groove 129 in such a way that they cannot be rotated. Furthermore, compression springs 125 are held in spring sleeves 132, which press the locking pins 120 and 121 towards the center of the adapter 122, where the recess 124 for the profile half-cylinder 10 is located.

[0065] To mount the profile half-cylinder 10, it is pushed from the mounting side 131 into the recess 124 for the profile half-cylinder 10 until it reaches the depth stop 127. During this process, the locking pins 120, 121 are pushed outwards until they engage in the bore 11 in an end position of the profile half-cylinder 10, thus locking the profile half-cylinder 10 in place.

[0066] To remove the profile half-cylinder 10, the release elements 126, designed as pins, are pushed outwards, for example using a screwdriver. This pulls the locking bolts 120, 121 out of the bore 11 of the profile half-cylinder 10, and the profile half-cylinder 10 can then be removed forwards via the mounting side 131. However, this is only possible with the control cabinet door open; that is, the profile half-cylinder 10 can only be removed by someone who has the means to open the control cabinet door.

[0067] Since the locking bolts 120, 121 are designed to be removable, the locking bolts 120, 121 can be completely removed if necessary, so that the profile half-cylinder 10 can also be fastened with a commercially available socket head cap screw 12 through the bore 11.

[0068] With the in the Figure 5 and 7 With the locking system 100 shown, it is possible to insert a locking cylinder 10 into a handle, especially a comfort handle, from the front while the locking element is closed, until the locking bolts 120, 121 snap into place. The effort required for such installation of a locking cylinder 10 then only takes approximately 5 seconds, even with unskilled personnel. This can save considerable time and therefore costs, especially when installing multiple locking cylinders 10, for example in a large production plant or a data center.

[0069] The application and its associated advantages are not limited to comfort handles, but can be applied to all locking elements suitable for use with profile half cylinders. Thus, the [missing information] can be used in the Figure 5 and 7 The locking system shown, 100, can also be used, for example, in room doors, cupboard doors, front doors, garage doors, lockable switches, alarm system actuators, key safes, lockable bolts and window handles.

[0070] The features of the invention disclosed in the foregoing description, in the drawings and in the claims may be essential for the realization of the invention, both individually and in any combination. Reference symbol list:
