Description

[0001] BOTTLE WITH SCREW CAP AND ANTI-DRIP DEVICE

[0002] DESCRIPTION

[0003] The present invention refers to a bottle with screw cap and anti-drip device. The present invention refers to the field of bottles, mostly made of glass, intended to contain wine or oil.

[0004] As is known, traditional bottles have the drawback that when pouring the liquid contained in them, this liquid slips onto the neck of the bottle causing the liquid to drip.

[0005] To solve this problem, various types of anti-drip or drip-catcher systems applied to the bottle are known.

[0006] FR1105956 describes a anti-drip device consisting of a cylinder that is applied to the outside of the neck of the bottle. This cylinder has an upper edge made up of an annular plate which abuts on the upper edge of the bottle neck. This annular plate has a width equal to or greater than that of the upper edge of the bottle neck. Therefore the width of the annular plate is approximately 4- 5 mm. However, such a wide annular plate is unable to break up the drops of liquid which tend to slide on the annular plate and drip onto the neck of the bottle.

[0007] W02014170240A1 describes an anti-drip device in the shape of a cylindrical sleeve, arranged on the outer surface of the bottle neck, such that the upper edge of the anti-drip device is flush with the upper edge of the bottle neck. The upper edge of the anti-drip device is less than 1 .5 mm thick to break the drop and prevent dripping. However, the drip device described in W02014170240A1 is not applicable to bottles with screw caps.

[0008] Fig. 1 illustrates a bottle (100) with a screw cap (200), according to the prior art. That is, the screw cap (200) has an internal thread (220) that screws into an external thread (1 16) of the bottle.

[0009] The bottle (100) has a base (1 10), a body (1 1 ), a tapered portion (112) and a neck (1 13) terminating in an upper edge (1 14). A collar (102) protrudes from the neck, near the top edge (1 14). Above the collar (102) there is the external thread (103) which substantially reaches the upper edge (104) of the bottle neck. Obviously, the presence of the external thread (103) on the neck of the bottle prevents the application of the sleeve-shaped anti-drip device described in W02014170240A1 which in any case has a height of approximately 10 mm.

[0010] JPS56172540U describes a screw cap bottle, provided with an anti-drip device positioned on the neck of the bottle, above the thread for the screw cap.

[0011] The aim of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks of the prior art by providing a bottle assembly which includes a bottle with a screw cap, equipped with an anti-drip device designed to prevent the liquid contained in the bottle from dripping.

[0012] Another object is to provide such a bottle assembly which includes a bottle with a screw cap, equipped with an anti-drip device which is efficient, practical, versatile, economical and simple to manufacture.

[0013] These objectives are achieved in accordance with the invention with the characteristics of the attached independent claims.

[0014] Advantageous embodiments of the invention appear from the dependent claims.

[0015] Further characteristics of the invention will appear clearer from the detailed description that follows, referring to its purely exemplary and therefore non-limiting embodiments, illustrated in the attached drawings, in which:

[0016] Fig. 1 is a side view of a bottle with a screw cap according to the known art;

[0017] Fig. 2 is a side view of a bottle assembly according to the invention showing an exploded view of a bottle, an anti-drip device and a screw cap;

[0018] Fig. 3 is an axial sectional view of the bottle assembly of Fig. 2, illustrating the upper part of the bottle neck and the anti-drip device in an exploded view;

[0019] Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a variant of the upper part of the bottle neck, illustrating a portion of the bottle neck that must be milled and an exploded view of the anti-drip device; and Fig. 5 is an axial section view of the anti-drip device of Fig. 4 assembled on the upper part of the neck of the bottle which has been milled.

[0020] With the help of Figs. 2 and 3 describe a bottle assembly indicated overall with the reference number 300.

[0021] For now with reference to Fig. 2, the bottle assembly (300) includes:

[0022] - a bottle (1 ),

[0023] - a screw cap (2), and

[0024] - an anti-drip device (3).

[0025] The bottle (1 ) includes a base (10) and a body (1 1 ) which rises from the base and continues with a tapered part (12) which is connected to a neck (13) ending with an upper edge (14).

[0026] A collar (15) protrudes externally around the neck (13).

[0027] The neck (13), above the collar (15), ends with an upper edge (14) of the bottle.

[0028] The screw cap (2) has an internal thread (20).

[0029] The anti-drip device (3) has the shape of a cylindrical sleeve and has a lower edge (30) and an upper edge (31 ).

[0030] The anti-drip device (3) is applied to the neck (13) of the bottle, above the collar (15), so that the upper edge (31 ) of the anti-drip device is flush with the upper edge (14) of the bottle.

[0031] The anti-drip device (3) is fixed immovably to the external surface of the neck (13) of the bottle, for example by means of adhesive glues and / or by press fitting. However, in the case of a glass bottle, the anti-drip device (3) could be incorporated into the glass of the neck (16) of the bottle.

[0032] The anti-drip device (3) has a height (h), equal to the distance (D) between the collar (15) and the upper edge (14) of the bottle neck. The height (h) of the anti-drip device (3) is between 8 - 12 mm.

[0033] With reference to Fig. 3, the upper edge (31 ) of the anti-drip device has a thickness (s) less than the average diameter of a drop. Therefore, the thickness (s) of the upper edge of the anti-drip device is less than 1.5 mm, preferably less than 0.5 mm. In this way, the drop of liquid, when it meets the upper edge (12) of the anti-drip device, breaks and does not deposit on the upper edge (12) of the anti-drip device, dripping onto the external surface of the bottle. In particular, the upper external edge of the anti-drip device is substantially equal to 90°, this angle allows the drop to be broken and to prevent it from leaking as in the case of rounded bottleneck edges.

[0034] Preferably, the anti-drip device (3) has a thickness(s) lower than the thickness of the neck (13) of the bottle. It must be considered that the lower the thickness of the anti-drip device (3), the better its performance.

[0035] Advantageously, the anti-drip device (3) is made of metallic material and preferably of aluminum for food use or of brass or stainless steel or PTFE. Preferably, the external surface of the anti-drip device (3) is coated with a material with a low friction coefficient, such as for example polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) known by the trade name Teflon.

[0036] The anti-drip device (3) can be made internally in Teflon. In this case it has a thickness of less than 0.5 mm.

[0037] Furthermore, to avoid the formation of drops on the upper edge (14) of the bottle neck, advantageously the upper edge (14) of the bottle neck can be flared, i.e. the upper edge (14) of the neck has a tapered portion having a thickness decreasing going upwards. In this way, the upper edge (14) of the neck has a minimum thickness which causes the drop of liquid to break. However, if anti-drip device (3) is sufficiently thin, it also performs its function with a rounded upper edge of the bottle neck, as in traditional bottles.

[0038] The neck (13) of the bottle does not have any external threading. Instead, the anti-drip device (3) has the shape of a cylindrical sleeve with an external thread (32) onto which the internal thread (20) of the screw cap (2) is screwed.

[0039] With reference to Figs. 4 and 5, a variant of the bottle group (300) according to the invention is described. In this case, a cylindrical milling (18) is made in the external surface of the neck (13) of the bottle, above the collar (15), so as to reduce the external diameter of an upper part of the bottle neck. The cylindrical milling (18) has a depth (P) equal to the thickness (s) of the anti-drip device. In this way the anti-drip device (3) is placed on the cylindrical milling (18) and therefore the external surface of the anti-drip device (3) is flush with the external surface of the neck (13) of the bottle.
