[0042] Detailed description of the invention

[0043] Referring now to Figures 1 to 3, a driving tool set 1 can be seen comprising a driving tool 2 for driving fasteners, and two magazines 3, 4 each for holding a plurality of fasteners, each magazine 3, 4 being removably mountable on the tool 2 to feed fasteners to the tool 2.

[0044] The tool 2 comprises a main body 20 with a firing chamber 21 , a handle 22 and a magazine holder 23, each attached to points spaced apart on the main body 20. The tool 2 also comprises a first magazine connector 24 in the form of a movable hook 24a that hangs from the main body 20 adjacent to the firing chamber 21 , and an intermediate magazine connector 25 in the form of a recess (not illustrated) in the magazine holder 23 adjacent to its lower free end. The free end of the magazine holder 23 is connected to the handle 22 by a narrow tie bar 26, which is another connecting feature, as will be seen below.

In each case, the first and intermediate connectors 31 , 41 on the magazines 3, 4 are connected to the first and intermediate connectors 24, 25 on the tool 2. However, when the second magazine 4 is connected to the tool 2, as illustrated in Figure 3, the additional connecting element 43 is also connected to the narrow tie bar 26 on the tool 2. The person skilled in the art will understand that the arc length of the second magazine 4 is such that there is a vertical slope in the portion of the guide 40 adjacent to the inlet 40a in the two primary orientations of use. More specifically, when the tool 2 is used on horizontal substrates, this portion of the guide 40 is almost vertical, whereas when the tool 2 is used on vertical substrates, there is a slight vertical slope. This keeps the multiple unconnected strips of fasteners (not shown) received in the guide 40 from falling out, with no need for a specific retention mechanism.

Claims

CLAIMS1 . A driving tool set (1 ) comprising a driving tool (2) for driving fasteners, and at least two magazines (3, 4, 5) each for holding a plurality of fasteners, each magazine being removably mountable on the tool to feed fasteners to the tool and a second of the magazines being longer than a first of the magazines so as to hold more fasteners, in which the second magazine (4) comprises a guide (40) comprising an inlet (40a, 50a) and extending over an arc length of more than 90 degrees along which the fasteners move, when in use, towards a firing chamber (21 ) on the driving tool (2).

The driving tool set according to claim 1 , in which the two magazines (3, 4, 5) are removably mounted on the tool (2) by one or more connecting features (31 , 32, 41 , 42, 43, 51 , 52, 53) and the second magazine (4, 5) has at least one connecting feature (43, 53) more than the first magazine (3), which is located on a portion of the guide (40, 50) on the second magazine that extends beyond the length of the first magazine (3).

The driving tool set according to claim 2, in which the tool (2) comprises a first connecting feature (24) adjacent the tool's firing chamber (21 ) to cooperate with a connecting feature (31 , 41 , 51 ) on the first or on the second magazine (3, 4, 5) and a second connecting feature (26, 54a) spaced apart from the firing chamber to cooperate with a second connecting feature (43, 53) on the second magazine (4, 5), but not on the first magazine (3).

4. The driving tool set according to claim 3, in which the tool (2) comprises a handle (22) and a magazine holder (23) spaced apart from the handle and the second connecting feature (26) is located on the magazine holder, on the handle or between the two.

5. The driving tool set according to claim 3, in which the tool (2) comprises a handle (22) and a handle extension (6) that can be used in an upright position, the second connecting feature (54a) being located on the handle extension.

6. The driving tool set according to claim 5, in which the inlet (50a) is adjacent to an operating end (60) of the handle extension (6) when the second magazine ismounted on the tool (2) to enable the fasteners to be loaded into the inlet from an upright position.

7. The driving tool set according to claim 4 comprising a third magazine (5), in which the tool (2) comprises a handle extension (6) that can be used in an upright position and a third connecting feature (54a) on the handle extension to cooperate with a connecting feature (53) on the third magazine (5) but not on the first or on the second magazine (3, 4), the third magazine being longer than the second magazine (4) so as to hold more fasteners and the connecting feature on the third magazine is located on a portion of the magazine’s guide (50) that extends beyond the length of the second magazine.

8. A magazine (4, 5) designed to be used with a driving tool (2) for driving fasteners, the magazine comprising a connector (41 , 42, 43, 51 , 52, 53) for mounting the magazine on the driving tool, and a guide (40, 50) along which the fasteners move, when in use, towards a firing chamber (21 ) on the driving tool, in which the guide comprises an inlet (40a, 50a) and extends over an arc length of more than 90 degrees.

9. The magazine according to claim 9, in which the connector (43, 53) comprises a holder (44, 54) with a pair of diverging arms (45a, 45b, 55a, 55b) connected to the guide (40, 50) at points that are spaced apart.
