Abstract
Description
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADDING DALI DEVICE TO MATTER SYSTEMTECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of lighting and, more particularly, to a method for adding a DALI device to a Matter system and an apparatus for the same.BACKGROUND
[0002] This section introduces aspects that may facilitate better understanding of the present disclosure. Accordingly, the statements of this section are to be read in this light and are not to be understood as admissions about what is in the prior art or what is not in the prior art.
[0003] In the current trend, Matter, a new connectivity standard and Working Group of Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) , becomes the mainstream for Internet of Things (IOT) . For adding a device to a Matter system, the system needs to know the specific information from the device to let it in. A quick response (QR) code is a unique and specific number that allow the Matter system to identify a driver of the device. Therefore, in a current solution, if it is desirable to add a device (especially for a lighting device) to the Matter system, typically, it is needed to scan a QR code on the device by using application in cellphone.
[0004] DALI (digital addressable lighting interface) is a data transmission protocol that defines a digital communication method between lighting devices and controllers. DALI system is an intelligent lighting control system, not only can be used for lighting control in a room, but also can be connected with the building management system (BMS) . The most important feature of the DALI system is that each lighting device has an independent address, and the lighting device can be accurately dimmed through the DALI system.
[0005] The DALI protocol is established through a master-slave control model. DALI controls an entire system through a central controller and is connected to a 2-wire control line through the DALI interface. Each device is addressed separately by a dimming controller, and any lighting device on the control line can be operated independently through addressing.
[0006] The combination of DALI devices and matter systems is currently a major trend, which is beneficial for increasing device sales.SUMMARY

And even if the DALI device can be added to the Matter system before the installment, it is very inconvenience to re-adding it thereto after the installment. That is to say, it may be difficult to add a DALI device to the Matter system by simply scanning a QR code burned on a casing of the device, resulting in issues affecting product sales due to inability to connect to the Matter system.

[0035] First embodiment
[0036] A method for adding a DALI device to a Matter system is provided in the first embodiment. The DALI device is preinstalled with a Matter-Dali-driver including a Matter chip and an MCU.
[0037] Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a method for adding a DALI device to a Matter system with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Fig. 1, the method may include:
[0038] block 101, according to an operation instruction of a user, a query command is transmitted to the DALI device based on (through) a DALI protocol, to ask an identification (ID) number of the DALI device;
[0039] block 102, an identification (ID) number of the DALI device is received based on (through) the DALI protocol; and
[0040] block 103, the DALI device is networked with the Matter system according to the ID number.
[0041] According to the first embodiment, the ID number information of the device for networking with the Matter system may be retrieved through a query command without scanning a QR code burned on the device, which may be convenient to be used for the first configuration or second networking of the device; namely, for those devices that need to pre-installed or already installed in a place that hard to reach, it is the new solution to add them to Matter system, thereby increasing the sales of these devices and making them easy to be maintained.
[0042] In an embodiment, the Matter-Dali-driver itself is a dual protocol device for both Matter and Dali, which includes an MCU and a Matter chip; compared to existing Dali devices, it needs to add a new Matter chip, and for existing Matter devices, it needs to add a Dali driver.
[0043] In an embodiment, the method may be implemented by a computer program, for example, when receiving an instruction for adding a new device to Matter system from a user, a Dali Application in PC through the Dali controller transmits the query command (for example, the command called as 279 Query Matter code) to the MCU of the Dali device. However, this application is not limited to use of PC, any portable device that may be connected to a Bluetooth to Dali converter is included therein.
[0044] Then, when receiving the query command, the MCU asks the Matter chip for the specific identification number; then, the Matter chip sends back the identification number to the MCU and the MCU sends it to the Dali controller of the PC based on the DALI protocol. Therefore, the goal may be achieved only through software changes, without adding a new component to the driver; and also, a Dali system is a robust system, and it is easy to use without additional work.
[0045] In an embodiment, the ID number is binary.
[0046] In an embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, before block 101, the method may further include:
[0047] block 104, the DALI protocol is extended by adding the query command to the DALI protocol.
[0048] Therefore, the goal may be achieved by only adding new Dali protocol. The specific method of extending the protocol may refer to related technology.
[0049] Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of a block 101 with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 2, block 101 may specifically include:
[0050] block 201, an address of the DALI device is acquired based on the DALI protocol; and
[0051] block 202, based on the address of the DALI device, the query command is transmitted to the MCU of the Matter-Dali-driver of the DALI device based on the DALI protocol.
[0052] In an embodiment, a Dali device has its own addresses, and when the device needs to newly add to the Matter system or re-add thereto due to offline or other reasons, this query command is just sent to the desirable address. Therefore, for example, the PC needs to first acquire the address of the DALI device and then sends the query command to the MCU of the DALI device according to the acquired address.
[0053] Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of a block 102 with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 3, block 102 may specifically include:
[0054] block 301, the ID number which is acquired, according to the query command, from the Matter chip by the MCU is received from the MCU; and
[0055] block 302, a quick response (QR) code is generated according to the ID number of the DALI device.
[0056] In an embodiment, the ID number may be prestored in the Matter chip of Matter-Dali-driver.
[0057] In an embodiment, any method of networking through an ID number is included in this application; for example, in block 302, networking is performed by generating a QR code from the ID number; and the QR code may scanned by a scanning device such as a cellphone and a tablet computer.
[0058] Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram of a block 103 with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 4, block 103 may specifically include:
[0059] block 401, a display command is generated to display the QR code;
[0060] block 402, the DALI device is connected to the Matter system according to the displayed QR code.
[0061] In an embodiment, for example, the PC may generate a display command is generated to display the QR code on a displayer and the DALI device is connected to the Matter system by the QR code is scanned.
[0062] In an embodiment, the ID number is binary.
[0063] The specific process of adding DALI device to the Matter system is illustrated below using a PC as an example through Fig. 5.
[0064] Fig. 5 is flowchart of a method for adding a DALI device to a Matter system with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0065] As shown in Fig. 5, the method for adding a DALI device to a Matter system may include:
[0066] 501, the DALI protocol is extended by adding the query command to the DALI protocol;
[0067] 502, an operation instruction of a user is received;
[0068] 503, PC acquires an address of the DALI device to be added based on the DALI protocol;
[0069] 504, the PC transmits, based on the acquired address, a query command to the MCU of the Matter-Dali-driver of the DALI device based on the DALI protocol;
[0070] 505, the MCU asks the Matter chip for the specific identification number;
[0071] 506, the Matter chip sends back the ID number to the MCU;
[0072] 507, the MCU sends the ID number to the PC based on the DALI protocol;
[0073] 508, the PC generates a quick response (QR) code according to the ID number of the DALI device;
[0074] 509, the PC generates a display command to display the QR code;
