Abstract

A novel arrangement of a trigger hanger for a firearm is disclosed. The trigger hanger is configured to attach to a receiver of the firearm and a trigger assembly. The trigger hanger includes a base and sidewalls that extend on lateral sides of the base. Between the sidewalls, the trigger hanger defines a central opening that is configured to receive the trigger assembly. To attach to the receiver, the trigger hanger includes end openings on a first end and a second end. Upper surfaces on forward and / or rearward portions of the trigger hanger can be shaped to complement portions of a bottom surface of the receiver. The sidewalls define a sidewall height and the forward and rearward portions define heights. Further the trigger hanger includes intermediate portions between each end and the sidewalls. The intermediate portions define an intermediate portion height less than that of the sidewalls and forward and rearward portions.

[0002] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention pertains generally to firearms. More specifically, the present disclosure pertains to unique aspects and arrangements of a trigger hanger for a firearm.

[0004] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] A unique trigger hanger has been developed to couple a trigger assembly to a receiver in a firearm. The trigger hanger includes a base that extends from a first end to a second end. The trigger hanger base defines a length between the first end and second end. The trigger hanger defines a width that extends from a first lateral side to a second lateral side. Further, the trigger hanger defines a height between a top side and bottom side. In one embodiment, the length is greater than the width and greater than the height. The base of the trigger hanger defines a central opening that extends from the botom side to the top side. The central opening is positioned between the first lateral side and the second lateral side and between the first end and the second end. On the top side, the base can define a first surface that is non-planar, such as a concave surface. In one example, the first surface is designed to complement a surface on the receiver.

[0006] The trigger hanger further includes a first sidewall and a second sidewall. The first sidewall extends along the first lateral side and defines a first sidewall height. Similarly, the second sidewall extends along the second lateral side and defines a second sidewall height. Between the sidewalls and the first end, the base defines an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion defines an intermediate height, and a forward portion defines a forward portion height. In one embodiment, the height of at least one of the sidewalls is greater than the forward portion height and the intermediate height. A receiver assembly for a firearm, the receiver assembly comprising: a receiver, wherein a lower surface of the receiver is convex, and wherein the receiver defines a receiver opening on the lower surface of the receiver; and a trigger hanger, wherein the trigger hanger includes: a base having a length extending from a first end to a second end, a width extending fixrm a first lateral side to a second lateral side, and a height extending from a botom side to a top side; wherein said base defines a centra! opening ex tending through said heigh t and positioned between said first end and said second end and between said first lateral side and said second lateral side; wherein said first lateral side defines a first sidewall cross-pin opening extending from said first lateral side to said central opening, and wherein said second lateral side defines a second sidewall cross-pin opening extending from said second lateral side to the said central opening; and wherein said upper side has a concave upper surface mating with said convex surface of said receiver.

CLAIMS1 . A trigger hanger for a firearm, the trigger banger comprising: a base having a length extending from a first end to a second end, a width extending from a first lateral side to a second lateral, and a height extending from a bottom side to a top side; wherein the length is greater than the width and greater than the height; wherein the base defines a central opening extending from the bottom side to the top side; wherein the top side of the base has a first surface that is nompianar along a direction extending along the width,2. The trigger hanger of claim 1 , wherein first surface is concave,3. The trigger hanger of claim 1 , wherein the first surface is positioned between the central opening and the first end.

4. The trigger hanger of claim 3, wherein the first surface defines a first opening extending from the bottom side to the top side,5. The trigger hanger of claim 1, wherein the base defines first and second sidewalls extending along at least portion of the length; and wherein said first sidewall is on a first side of the central opening and the second sidewall is on a second side of the centra! opening; wherein the first sidewall has a height greater than a height of the first surface.

6. Hie trigger hanger of claim 5, wherein a portion of said base located between said first end and said first sidewall has a height that is less than the first sidewall and the first surface.

7. The trigger hanger of claim 5, comprising a second surface that is separate .from the first surface and that is non -planar along a direction extending along the width,8. The trigger hanger of claim 7, wherein the second surface is concave,9. The trigger hanger of claim 8, wherein the second surface is positioned between the central opening and the second end,10. The trigger hanger of claim 9, wherein the second surface defines a second opening extending from the bottom side to the top side.1 1. 15. The trigger hanger of claim 1 , wherein one or more upper surfaces of said first and second ends are compl imentary to a portion of a surface on a cylinder.

A. trigger hanger for a firearm, the trigger hanger comprising: a base having a length extending from a first end to a second end, a width extending from a first lateral side to a second lateral side, and a height extending from a bottom side to a top side; a first sidewall extending along said first lateral side, having a height extending from said lower side of said base to an upper side of said first sidewall, and having a length extending along said length of said base; and a second sidewall extending along said second lateral side, having a height extending from said lower side of said base to an upper side of said second sidewall, and having a length extending along said length of said base; wherein said base defines a central opening extending through said height and positioned between said first end and said second end and between said first lateral side and said second lateral side; and wherein the base has a first portion positioned between said first sidewalls and said first end, said first portion having a height lesser than that of said first sidewall and of a second portion of the base positioned between the first portion and the first end.

17. The trigger hanger of claim 16, wherein the trigger hanger is monolithic in construction.

18. The trigger hanger of claim 16, wherein said height of said first sidewall is greater than said height of said first portion.

19. .A receiver assembly for a firearm, the receiver assembly comprising: a receiver, wherein a lower surface of the receiver is convex, and wherein the recei ver defines a receiver openi ng on the low- er surface of the receive r; and a trigger hanger, wherein the trigger hanger includes:a base having a length extending from a first end to a second end, a width extending from a first lateral side to a second lateral side, and a height extending from a bottom side to a top side; wherein said base defines a central opening extending through said heigh t and positioned between said first end and said second end and between said first lateral side and said second lateral side; wherein said first lateral side defines a first sidewall cross-pin opening extending from said first lateral side to said central opening, and wherein said second lateral side defines a second sidewall cross-pin opening extending from said second lateral side to the said central opening; and wherein said upper side has a concave upper surface mating with said convex surface of said receiver,20, The assembly of claim 19, wherein said trigger hanger further includes: a first sidewall extending along said first lateral side, having a height extending from said bottom side of said base to an upper side of said first sidewall, and having a length extending along said length of said base; and a second sidewall extending along said second lateral side, having a height extending from said bottom side of said base to an upper side of said second sidewall, and having a length extending along said length of said base; wherein said sidewalls extend into said receiver opening,21 . The receiver assembly of claim 20, wherein a space in the receiver opening between sidewalls and said receiver along said length is greater than a space in the receiver opening between said sidewalls and said receiver along said width.
