OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The invention, which is a profile cap for a swimming pool covering and assembly, relates to a cap for hermetically closing the ends of the hollow profiles, or longitudinal slats, which, when coupled together in an articulated manner, define the safety covering cover to be deployed on the surface of the water in a swimming pool. The cap has a structural configuration mainly comprising an internal closure piece, which is inserted into the end of the profile and acts as an element that seals the longitudinal cavities of the profile so that it floats, and an external closure piece, with a variable width, which in addition to embellishing the end of the profile, acts as a protective element for protecting the profile against the edges of the swimming pool and between profiles. Optionally, depending on the application of the cover, the cap may comprise a pendulum piece, particularly for infinity pools, which acts as a stop to prevent the cover from going beyond the edge of the swimming pool, and also serves to guide the cover or covering panel in its path when wound up and unwound. [0003] Different profiles or slats are known in the state of the art for covering swimming pools, consisting of a hollow longitudinal body made of plastic material that can float on the water by covering the ends of the same with closure caps and which at one end has a longitudinal opening or slot and at the opposite end has a protruding longitudinal member in the form of a hook, such that the hook of one profile is coupled to or inserted in the slot of the previous profile. By successively connecting several identical profiles, a swimming pool cover, or panel, is formed, taking into account that the connection between profiles allows mobility therebetween in order to be able to wind them up on a shaft at one end of the swimming pool. The swimming pool cover, or panel, covers the water surface, helping to maintain water temperature and prevent the water from getting dirty. To enable these profiles to float, hermetic closure caps are coupled to both sides of the profiles to create air chambers inside the profiles.

[0004] Different documents describing profiles for swimming pool covers are known in the prior art, such as, for example, patent application number EP2295676A2, patent number ES2878018T3 and utility model number ES1275771U, but none of them disclose or show a cap such as the one that is the subject of the present invention.

[0005] Although the caps in the prior art are designed to seal the slats or profiles, they have some shortcomings due to their configuration. For example, the fact that they are made up of a single piece, while achieving the water-tightness objective, does not allow the cap to be easily replaced when it is damaged by rubbing against the ends of the swimming pool, as removing the cap from the profile is complicated, especially if sealing materials, such as silicone, are used to guarantee water-tightness. The present invention is characterised in that is comprises a cap in two parts such that an external part that protects the internal part, which is coupled to the profile, can be replaced when damaged.

[0006] Another problem in the prior art is that when the covers are used on infinity pools, without an edge or with an edge at a different height, the profiles do abut and it is necessary to monitor the length of the deployed cover in order to cover the swimming pool. Thus, a variant of the cap that is the subject matter of the invention allows, by incorporating a pendulum piece or pendular piece on the external part of the cap, the use of covers equipped with the cap that is the subject matter of the invention in infinity pools without an edge or with edges at different heights. [0008] The present invention, which is a profile cap for a swimming pool covering and assembly, relates to a cap intended for use in profiles which, when coupled together, form a cover of a swimming pool, as well as to an assembly consisting of a profile and the caps arranged at the ends of the profile.

[0009] A first subject matter of the invention is therefore a profile cap for a swimming pool covering according to claim 1. Said cap is incorporated into the two ends of each of the longitudinal profiles that make up a safety covering cover, or panel, for swimming pools, which profiles are coupled to each other in an articulated manner, from a first profile, followed by successive profiles, to a last profile connected to a winding shaft, said profiles being wound on a motorised shaft located at one end of the swimming pool, said cover or panel being deployed over the water surface to cover it. The cap essentially comprises an internal closure piece, which is inserted in each end of the profile to seal the longitudinal cavities of the profile allowing it to float, and, in addition, an external closure piece coupled to the internal closure piece which, apart from serving as an embellishment element, acts as a protector for protecting against the edges of the swimming pool and to prevent lateral displacements between the slats.

Claims

1. A profile (2) cap for a swimming pool covering, characterised in that it comprises at least: - an internal closure piece (4), with an internal part (4a) on one side, to be inserted into a cavity (5) at the end of the profile (2), and an external part (4b) on the opposite side, said external part (4b) being provided with at least one hole (6) for the insertion of sealing material into said internal closure piece (4), - an external closure piece (7), and - coupling means for coupling between the external part (4b) of the internal closure piece (4) and the external closure piece (7).

2. The cap according to claim 1, characterised in that the external closure piece (7) comprises a housing (10) between two walls and a first coupling element (9) in said housing (10).

3. The cap according to claim 2, characterised in that the external closure piece (7) comprises a second coupling element (18) of the housing (10) on the side opposite to where the first coupling element (9) is located.

4. The cap according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the internal part (4a) comprises at least one perforation (4.2) connected thereto, at least one, hole (6), for the sealing material to pass through the same.

5. The cap according to claim 1, characterised in that the coupling means for coupling between the internal closure piece (4) and the external closure piece (7) are at least one tab (11) emerging from the external part (4b) thereof for coupling in at least one recess (13) provided in the external closure piece (7).

6. The cap according to claim 1, characterised in that the internal part (4a) of the internal closure piece (4) is divided into at least two bodies (4.1).

7. The cap according to any of claims 2 to 6, characterised in that it comprises an accessory piece (8, 20, 30, 40) with a first coupling element (14, 24, 34, 44) for coupling to the first coupling element (9) of the housing (10) of the external closure piece (7).

8. The cap according to claim 7, characterised in that the accessory piece (20, 30, 40) comprises a second coupling element (23, 33, 43), distanced from the first coupling element (24, 34, 44), for coupling to the second coupling element (18) of the housing (10) of the external closure piece (7).

9. The cap according to claim 7, characterised in that the accessory piece is a pendulum accessory piece (8) with an elongate body with two ends, one of said ends having the first coupling element (14).

10. The cap according to claim 9, characterised in that the pendulum accessory piece (8) comprises an inner metal core (8.1) and an outer coating (8.2) made of polymer material to protect and prevent oxidation of the metal material.

11. The cap according to any of claims 7 to 10, characterised in that the first coupling element of the housing (10) is a transverse shaft between the two walls of the housing (10) and the first coupling element of the accessory piece (8, 20, 30, 40) is a hook to be coupled together by press-fit.

12. A profile assembly for a swimming pool covering, characterised in that it comprises a cap according to any of claims 1 to 11 and a profile (2) for a swimming pool covering, this profile (2) having at least one longitudinal hollow body with two ends defining at least one cavity (5), the shape of the at least one body (4.1) of the internal part of the internal closure part (4a) of the cap being complementary to the shape of the at least one cavity (5) of the profile (2) for the press-fit insertion of the cap (1) into the cavity (5).

13. The assembly according to claim 12, characterised in that the profile (2) comprises several cavities (5) and the internal part (4a) comprises several bodies (4.1) that are complementary to each other.

14. The assembly according to the preceding claims 12 and 13, characterised in that it comprises several profiles (2) connected together to form a covering cover (3) with a cap at each of the two ends of each profile (2), said covering cover (3) having several profiles connected together, arranged immediately behind a first free profile and between said first profile and a last profile, the latter is preferably connected to a winding shaft.

15. The assembly according to claim 14, characterised in that at least the first free profile has a cap with an accessory piece (8, 20, 30, 40).
