Sub-partitioning associated with template matching

Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems, methods and instrumentalities associated with video coding (e.g., encoding and decoding). A video encoding device or a video decoding device according to the disclosure may obtain an inter-coded video block associated with a current picture and divide the inter-coded video block into at least a first sub-partition and a second sub-partition. The video encoding device or the video decoding device may reconstruct the first sub-partition based on a first motion vector associated with the inter-coded video block, determine a second motion vector based on the first motion vector and one or more reconstructed samples of the first sub-partition, and reconstruct the second sub-partition based on the second motion vector.
