Abstract

Automated medication dispenser and dispensing method. The invention describes an automated medication dispenser configured to work with a blister pack (2) having radially arranged compartments (4) containing pre-filled medication and sealed by a frangible membrane. The dispenser comprises: a blister holder (10) for housing the blister pack (2); a rotation means (20) for rotating the blister pack (2); a release means (30) for applying pressure to a target compartment of the blister pack (2) to break the membrane and release the corresponding medication; and a controller configured to control the rotation of the blister pack (2) to align the target compartment of the blister pack (2) with the release means (30) and to activate the release means (30) according to dispensing requirements, preferably at the user's request via a control element (60).The invention also describes a dispensing method using the automated medication dispenser.
