Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Hinged shutter articulation device and hinged shutter equipped with such a device
[0001] The invention relates to the field of shutters, in particular hinged shutters, and in particular the field of devices for locking these hinged shutters when the latter are in the open position.
[0002] The invention relates more specifically to a hinged shutter device for locking and unlocking hinged shutters intended to equip a bay, such as a door or window of a dwelling.
[0003] In a known manner, a hinged shutter is schematically composed of at least one flat panel, or leaf, often made of wood, PVC or aluminum, said panel being supported by hinges, at least two per panel.
[0004] Said shutter hinges are engaged, by their end knot, or eye, in hinges composed of a shaft, corresponding to the base of the hinge, and a metal rod, themselves supported by fittings sealed in the wall of the dwelling.
[0005] The hinges therefore allow the leaf to be fixed to the axis of the hinge formed by the metal rod, on which the shutter hinges turn.
[0006] In the case of a hinged shutter intended to equip a window, it generally comprises a pair of panels, positioned on either side of the window, each of these panels being fixed by hinges.
[0007] Traditionally, the shutters are each held, when in the open position, by a locking device with swinging hooks or by a device with tilting hooks, such devices being sealed in the wall of the dwelling.
[0008] Regardless of the hook device used to hold the shutters in the open position, with the leaf against the facade of the dwelling, said device is generally positioned at the level of half the width of the shutter furthest from the window, in order to ensure that the leaf is correctly held against the facade. Consequently, such devices are difficult to operate for a user inside the dwelling.
[0009] It is then often preferable to leave the home in order to position yourself in front of these devices to operate them, rather than leaning out of the window. However, for shutters located on the upper floors of a home, blocking the shutters from inside the home remains mandatory.
[0010] Furthermore, the installation of blocking devices at the level of the facade of the dwelling can prove to be particularly delicate; it is particularly advisable to seal the device in the facade, which requires the intervention of a specialist.
[0011] In the state of the art, attempts have been made to propose various locking solutions for hinged shutters.
[0012] We thus know, from the French patent application published under number FR 2 481 350, a device for locking, in the open position, the hinged shutters of a bay, intended to replace the pivoting latch traditionally fixed to the facade.
[0013] Such a device consists, on the one hand, of an orifice pierced diametrically through the eye of at least one hinge supporting each shutter, and through the cylindrical part, or metal rod, of the hinge on which said hinge pivots.
[0014] On the other hand, the locking device of document FR 2 481 350 consists of a pin, intended to be housed, in a removable manner, in said drilled orifice at the level of the eye and the cylindrical part, so as to secure the knot of the hinge with the cylindrical part of the hinge and to prevent the hinge from pivoting around the axis of the hinge, when the leaf is in the open position.
[0015] The holes may be drilled along an axis parallel to the shutter when it is open, while the pin may be formed of a rigid cylindrical rod, held to the shutter panel by means of a chain, a ring being provided to be arranged between the pin and the chain.
[0016] The document published under number FR 2 494 756 constitutes a complementary application to the previous document, specifying that the end of the pin intended to be introduced into the orifice has a conical shape.
[0017] These devices have the disadvantage of comprising a pin, constituting an added element, which must be fixed to the shutter and require the user to lean out to position or grasp it.
[0018] Furthermore, such a pin is not connected to the locking device, and can therefore become detached from it and be misplaced.
[0019] Another disadvantage of the presence of such a pin is that it is likely to get stuck in the holes in the locking position, requiring the user to make a particular effort to remove it.
[0020] In the international application published under number WO 02 / 088501, a device is described for locking the rotation of a shutter hinge around the hinge on which it is mounted, thus making it possible to immobilize the shutter in the open or closed position.
[0021] The aim here is to replace a tilting lock system, fixed to the hinge, which is placed, at the time of locking, in a groove made at the bottom of the hinge, thus blocking the shutter. Indeed, for such a system to function correctly, it is necessary for the lock and the groove of the hinge to be perfectly aligned, the hinge sealed perpendicular to the masonry.
[0022] A device is then proposed comprising a grooved adapter ring, and adjustable in rotation before its attachment to the hinge, so that its groove is always perfectly aligned with the plane of rotation of the lock.
[0023] The ring is therefore provided with a groove, a hole and a groove, and is positioned on the bottom of the cylindrical part of a hinge, before being fixed there by means of a self-drilling screw.
[0024] French patent application FR 2 775 723 describes a similar device, making it possible to lock the rotation of the hinge of a shutter around the hinge on which the hinge is mounted, so as to immobilize the shutter in the open position.
[0025] More particularly, in this device, a lock is mounted on the hinge using a pivot, and pivots around this pivot to be inserted, in the locking position, between the hinge and the hinge, thanks, on the one hand, to a groove made on the top of the loop of the hinge and, on the other hand, to a flat part machined on the top of the hinge.
[0026] In patent application FR 2 789 720 another device for locking the rotation of a shutter hinge is described.
[0027] This locking device makes it possible to immobilize the shutter in the open or closed position. It is more particularly made up of a grooved hinge, fixed to a shutter, intended to be mounted on a single-piece hinge, at the level of which two flats have been machined.
[0028] A lock formed by a spring steel wire is wound onto this hinge, one end of which can be placed in a housing located either on the top of the hinge or on the bottom of it, thus locking the rotation of the hinge.
[0029] The lock surrounds the axis of the hinge, and forms two loops, one having a torsion spring effect, and the second serving as a handle. One of the ends of the steel wire engages in a housing created by the alignment of a groove, made in the hinge, and a flat, machined on the hinge, which locks the mechanism.
[0030] To unlock the mechanism, push on the large loop, which will cause the steel wire to be released from the housing formed by the groove and the flat, and the hinge to be released.
[0031] A second flat, made on the hinge, allows the shutter to be locked in the closed position.
[0032] Such devices can be complex to develop, and / or require machining, to obtain grooves, flats, in the parts making up the hinged shutter, machining which can also prove complex to produce.
[0033] In order to respond, at least in part, to the drawbacks of the state of the art, it has been imagined, in an inventive approach, to develop a device for blocking a hinged shutter, when the latter is in the open position, which is of simple design and use, while making it possible to control the blocking and unblocking of a hinged shutter, without having to leave the home, or to lean out of the window to reach and maneuver it.
[0034] Thus, the present invention relates more particularly to a hinged shutter articulation device, comprising a hinge and a strap, where said strap comprises an eye and said hinge a nipple introduced into said eye to allow said shutter to pivot from a so-called open position to a so-called closed position, and vice versa.
[0035] Said articulation device according to the present invention is more particularly characterized in that said hinge comprises a movable element in a direction parallel to the pivot axis of said shutter, elastically returned, manually maneuverable by constraint of the elastic return means when said shutter is in the so-called open position, while said hinge comprises, at the periphery of said eye, on the side of introduction of said nipple, an indexing zone capable of receiving said movable element when said shutter is in the open position, so as to ensure the locking of said shutter in this position.
[0036] According to a particular embodiment of the present invention, said hinge of the articulation device comprises an eye and said hinge a nipple introduced into said eye to allow said shutter to pivot from a so-called open position to a so-called closed position, and vice versa, and is characterized in that said hinge comprises a movable element in a direction parallel to the pivot axis of said shutter, elastically returned, manually maneuverable by constraint of the elastic return means when said shutter is in the so-called open position, while said hinge comprises, at the periphery of said eye, on the side of insertion of said nipple, an indexing zone capable of receiving said movable element when said shutter is in the open position, so as to ensure the locking of said shutter in this position.
[0037] Most preferably, said movable element comprises a rod sliding in a groove coaxial with the pivot axis of said shutter, the end of said rod outside said groove being provided with a gripping means and the opposite end of said rod, inside the groove being integral with an indexing finger capable of sliding, on the one hand, in said indexing zone on the periphery of the eye of the hinge and, on the other hand, in a hole made right through and perpendicular to the axis of said hinge.
[0038] Advantageously, said indexing finger slides in a first bore made right through and perpendicular to the axis of said nipple and, simultaneously, in a second bore made in an element for anchoring to the masonry of a dwelling, which said hinge comprises at the base of said nipple.
[0039] The indexing finger may consist, more particularly, of a key, while said elastic return means may consist of a spring.
[0040] The invention also relates to a hinged shutter characterized in that it comprises a lower articulation device according to the invention and as described above.
[0041] The hinged shutter may, advantageously, in addition to the lower articulation device, comprise an upper articulation comprising, like said lower articulation, a hinge and a strap, where said strap comprises an eye and said hinge a nipple inserted into said eye to allow said shutter to pivot from a so-called open position to a so-called closed position, and vice versa, as well as an elastic means for returning from the so-called open position to the so-called closed position.
[0042] It is also conceivable that said lower articulation of said hinged shutter comprises, in addition to the elements already described above, an elastic means for returning it from the so-called open position to the so-called closed position.
[0043] In addition to the advantage provided by the present device and already mentioned above, which consists of making it possible to avoid the user having to lean out of the dwelling to lock the shutters in the open position, the device of the invention makes it possible to cause the shutter to move towards its closed position when it is unlocked.
[0044] Other aims and advantages of the present invention will appear during the description which follows relating to embodiments which are given only as indicative and non-limiting examples.
[0045] Understanding of this description will be facilitated by referring to the attached drawings in which:
[0046] [Fig.l] schematically represents a perspective view of a first variant of a first embodiment of a part of the hinged shutter articulation device according to the present invention, namely the hinge of said articulation device.
[0047] [Fig.2] schematically represents, on the one hand, a longitudinal sectional view tudinal of the hinge of the articulation device of [Fig.l] and, on the other hand, a view of the eye of the hinge intended to pivot around the nipple of said hinge.
[0048] [Fig.3] schematically represents another view of a device articulation as shown in Figures 1 and 2.
[0049] [Fig.4] schematically represents a second variant of the first mode of embodiment of the articulation device according to the present invention.
[0050] [Fig.5] schematically represents a second embodiment of the hinged shutter device according to the present invention, the eye of the hinge intended to pivot around the nipple of said hinge being shown in a cutaway view.
[0051] With reference to these drawings, the present invention relates more specifically to an articulation device 1 for a hinged shutter.
[0052] Such a shutter traditionally comprises, among other elements, two hinges including a lower hinge 2 and an upper hinge, not shown in the attached figures. A hinged shutter also comprises a lower hinge 3, visible in figures 2, 3 and 5 of the attached drawings, and an upper hinge, which equip a flat panel of the shutter.
[0053] Said lower hinge 3 is provided with an eye 4, while said lower hinge 2 comprises a nipple 5 which is intended to be introduced into said eye 4. The same applies to the upper hinge, not shown, the nipple of which engages in the eye of the upper hinge. Thus, through these hinges and hinges, the swing shutter is able to pivot from a so-called open position, in which the shutter is folded against the masonry of a dwelling, to a so-called closed position, in which the shutter is positioned in front of a bay, and vice versa.
[0054] It should also be noted that, in addition to the nipple 5, a hinge 2 of a hinged shutter also comprises, at the base of said nipple 5, an element 6 for anchoring said hinge 2 to the masonry of a dwelling which is intended to be equipped with said hinged shutter.
[0055] According to the present invention, said hinge 2 of the articulation device 1 for a hinged shutter essentially comprises a movable element 7 in a direction parallel to the pivot axis 8 of said shutter, which corresponds to the axis of the nipple 5.
[0056] This mobile element 7 is linked to an elastic return means 9 and can be operated manually, by constraint of said elastic return means 9, when said shutter is blocked in its so-called open position.
[0057] As regards the hinge 3 now, which is more particularly visible in figures 2, 3 and 5, the latter is provided, on the periphery of its eye 4, and on the side of introduction of said nipple 5 into said eye 4, with an indexing zone 10.
[0058] This indexing zone 10 has the function of receiving said movable element 7 when said shutter is in the open position, so as to ensure the locking of said shutter in this position.
[0059] Thus, in a particularly interesting manner, when the hinged shutter is in the so-called open position, with the shutter locked, the movable element 7 is raised upwards, under the action of the elastic return means 9, and engages in the indexing zone 10 formed in the base of the eye 4 of the hinge 3, thus preventing any rotation of said hinge 3 around the axis 8.
[0060] In a first embodiment, which is shown in Figures 1 to 4, when the user wants the hinged shutter to move into the so-called closed position, in front of a bay of his home, he simply has to manually pull said movable element 7, in the direction opposite to the return force of the elastic means 9, in other words to constrain said elastic return means 9, so as to release the indexing zone 10 of the movable element 7, and thus allow the rotation of the eye 4 of the hinge 3 around the axis of rotation 8.
[0061] It should be noted that, in a very preferential manner, a single indexing means 10 is fitted to the hinge 3 so that the movable element 7 can slide therein only when the hinged shutter is in the so-called open position. Once the hinge 3 has rotated carried out, said hinged shutter having passed into the so-called closed position, the movable element 7 can no longer engage in the indexing means 10, which has moved under the effect of the rotation, so as to prevent the shutter from also being blocked by said movable element 7 in the so-called closed position.
[0062] The hinged shutter is then held in the so-called closed position in front of a bay by any type of means conventionally implemented for this purpose and known to those skilled in the art, such means being operable from inside the dwelling when the shutter is closed.
[0063] In a first variant embodiment of this first embodiment, with reference to the attached figures 1 to 3, the movable element 7 of the articulation device 1 for a hinged shutter according to the invention is in particular in the form of a rod 11 sliding in a groove 12 arranged, preferably, coaxially with the pivot axis 8 of said shutter, corresponding to the axis of the nipple 5 of the hinge 2.
[0064] A first end of said rod 11, more particularly the end 11a which is external to said groove 12, in the lower part of the hinge 2, is integral with a gripping means 13, the latter advantageously consisting of a handle.
[0065] As regards the second end 11b of the rod 11, opposite the end 11a, the latter is located inside the groove 12, and it is made integral, in particular by screwing, with an indexing finger 14.
[0066] This indexing finger 14 is in particular capable of sliding, to move from one position to another, in said indexing zone 10 which the hinge 3 comprises, on the periphery of its eye 4, but also in at least one first drilling made right through and passing perpendicularly to the axis 8 of the nipple 5 of said hinge 2, this first drilling not being visible in the figures.
[0067] Even more preferably, said indexing finger 14, preferably in the form of a key, slides in the first bore made right through and perpendicular to the axis 8 of said nipple 5, as mentioned above, and, simultaneously, in a second bore 15 which is made in the anchoring element 6 to the masonry of a dwelling, which said hinge 2 comprises at the base of said nipple 5.
[0068] A particularly preferred embodiment is that shown in Figures 1 to 3.
[0069] Said indexing finger 14 is thus movable between two positions, a so-called locking position in which it is engaged in the indexing zone 10 of the eye 4 of the hinge 3, and an unlocking position in which it is outside this indexing zone 10, to allow rotation of the shutter.
[0070] The transition from the locking position to the unlocking position of the finger indexing 14 is done by manual maneuver against the action of the elastic return means 9, preferably a spring, surrounding the rod 11 in the groove 12, said elastic return means being put under tension preferably by means of a nut 16 fixed around the rod 11 of the movable element 7, under the anchoring element 6 of the hinge 2 to the masonry of a dwelling.
[0071] It should also be noted that said indexing finger 14, when it is in the form of a key, may include a machined part 17, visible in [Fig.2], in order to prevent the shutter from being prevented from reaching its so-called open position.
[0072] In [Fig.4] of the attached drawings is shown a second variant embodiment of this first embodiment, just as advantageous, of the hinged shutter articulation device of the invention, in which the movable element 7, still in the form of a rod 11 sliding in a groove 12 formed, this time, parallel and offset from the pivot axis 8 of said shutter.
[0073] The end 11a of the rod is secured to a handle 13 while the second end 11b of the rod 11 is secured to a key which slides in the indexing zone 10 which the eye 4 of the hinge 3 comprises and in a bore in the hinge 2, in particular in the nipple 5 and in the anchoring element 6 of the hinge 2.
[0074] In a second example of embodiment of the hinge device 1 for a hinged shutter according to the invention, particularly preferred and now described with reference to [Fig. 5], the indexing zone 10 is produced in a ring 18 independent of said hinge 3 and fixedly secured to the latter.
[0075] The securing of said ring 18 to said hinge is preferably carried out by means of a set screw 19.
[0076] Said ring 18 engages on the nipple 5 of the hinge 2 and the base 181 which this ring 18 comprises is inserted between the base 6 of the hinge 2 and the eye 4 of the hinge 3. Said base 181 of the ring 18 is surmounted by a sleeve 182, of diameter smaller than that of the base 181, said sleeve 182 filling a gap between the nipple 5 of the hinge 2 and the eye 4 of the hinge 3, so as to avoid there being any play between said eye 4 and said nipple 5.
[0077] In this second embodiment, said movable element 7 still comprises a rod 11, sliding in a groove which is coaxial with the pivot axis 8 of said shutter.
[0078] The end of said rod 11 which is external to said groove and is located at the top of the nipple 5 is provided with a pressure means 20, advantageously in the form of a push button.
[0079] In this embodiment, the elastic return means 9, preferably consisting of a spring, is positioned between said pressure means 20 and the top of the nipple 5 of the hinge 2.
[0080] Most preferably, a bellows, or flap, can surround the spring to protect it. Such a means of protecting the spring is however not shown in [Fig.5].
[0081] The second end of said rod 11, the one which is inside the groove and not visible in [Fig. 5], is secured to an indexing finger 14. The latter is able to slide, on the one hand, in said indexing zone 10 on the periphery of the base 181 of said ring 18 which is secured to the hinge 3 by engagement in said nipple 5. On the other hand, said indexing finger 14 slides in a bore made right through and perpendicular to the axis 8 of said hinge 2.
[0082] More particularly still, and as illustrated in [Fig. 5], said indexing finger 14 is sliding in a first drilling made right through and perpendicular to the axis 8 of said nipple 5 and, simultaneously, in a second drilling 15 made in the anchoring element 6 to the masonry of a dwelling, which said hinge 2 comprises, at the base of said nipple 5.
[0083] Just as for the first embodiment, said indexing finger 14 may consist of a key.
[0084] In this embodiment, in the relaxed position, the elastic return means 9 in the form of a spring pulls the indexing finger 14 upwards, so that the latter is engaged in the indexing zone 10 formed on the periphery of the base 181 of said ring 18 secured to the hinge 3, thus preventing any rotation of said hinge 3 around the axis 8.
[0085] When pressure is applied to said push button 20, the spring 9 is compressed and the indexing finger 14 is lowered.
[0086] Just as in the first embodiment described above, said indexing finger 14 is thus movable between two positions, a so-called locking position in which it is engaged in the indexing zone 10 of the eye 4 of the hinge 3, and an unlocking position in which it is outside this indexing zone 10, to allow rotation of the shutter.
[0087] The transition from the locking position to the unlocking position of the indexing finger 14 is done here by manual maneuver against the action of the spring 9, surrounding the rod 11, at the top of the nipple 5 of the hinge 2.
[0088] The present invention also relates to a hinged shutter comprising a lower articulation device 1 having the characteristics of the first or second embodiment which have been described above.
[0089] Even more particularly to the invention, such a hinged shutter comprises, in addition to the aforementioned lower articulation, an upper articulation, not shown in the figures, and comprising, like the lower articulation, a hinge and a strap.
[0090] Traditionally, at the level of this upper articulation, said hinge comprises an eye, and said hinge a nipple, intended to be introduced into said eye to allow said shutter to pivot from a so-called open position to a so-called closed position, and vice versa.
[0091] According to a characteristic particular to the invention, said nipple of the upper hinge comprises an elastic means for returning it from the so-called open position to the so-called closed position.
[0092] More particularly, said nipple of the upper hinge is surrounded by an elastic return means in the form, advantageously, of a spring, one of the ends of which is fixed in a housing made either at the base of the nipple, or in the element anchoring the upper hinge to the masonry of the dwelling.
[0093] The second end of the elastic return means is fixed in a housing made in the eye of the upper hinge, so that said elastic return means is put under tension when the hinged shutter is open.
[0094] Thus, when the lower articulation device 1, in accordance with the invention, is unlocked by the user wishing the hinged shutter equipped with said device 1 to move from its so-called open position to its so-called closed position, the elastic return means of the upper articulation which also preferably equips said hinged shutter will cause said hinged shutter to automatically fold back towards its closed position.
[0095] Such an elastic return means driving the flap into the closed position of the shutter can also equip the lower articulation of the shutter.
[0096] It is clear from the above that the invention described above not only has the advantage of proposing a simple solution for allowing a hinged shutter to be locked in its so-called open position, easily manoeuvrable by a user from inside their home, and without the risk of losing an added element of the device, but also the possibility of causing the shutter to make a folding movement when it is unlocked.
[0097] This facilitates the transition from the so-called open position of the hinged shutter to its so-called closed position, by allowing an automatic return of said shutter to its closed position.
[0098] It should also be noted that the articulation device 1 for a hinged shutter according to the invention also makes it possible to adjust the position of the cylindrical part of the hinge, according to a particular angle relative to the open shutter, which makes it possible to adapt said device 1 to facades forming an angle less than or greater than 180° with the window.
