Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Multi-function suction device, and infant teething relief kit based on such a device
[0001] The invention relates to the field of infant soothing devices and methods, of the sucking and / or biting type to calm the infant.
[0002] In this field, pacifiers or teats have been proposed, generally made of two blocks, namely a teat block fixed to a very rigid disc-shaped guard forming the second block. The guard can be associated with a gripping ring.
[0003] These pacifiers have only one function, namely to soothe the infant by sucking on the teat.
[0004] Working with infants, the inventor was able to observe that an infant wants to bite the entirety of his pacifier in addition to sucking on the teat, which is not pleasant with a conventional pacifier due to the rigid guard in particular.
[0005] Furthermore, the inconveniences and discomforts of infants are often linked to teething. The use of a pacifier according to the prior art is generally not sufficient to soothe the infant in this case.
[0006] Thus, one objective of the invention is to propose a device making it possible to significantly improve the soothing of infants experiencing discomfort or other inconveniences.
[0007] To achieve these objectives, the invention provides a sucking device for infants, comprising a teat, a guard secured to the teat, and a teething ring secured to the guard.
[0008] In one aspect, the nipple, guard, and teething ring are made of a single piece of flexible material. This allows the entire device to be chewed without being hindered by the strength of the guard as in the prior art.
[0009] According to another aspect, the teething ring comprises an alternation of bulges and protrusions of substantially pointed shape, configured to contact and massage the growing gums and / or teeth of the infant. This makes it possible to soothe the teething infant.
[0010] According to other aspects taken in isolation or combined according to all technically feasible combinations: - the protuberances form centrifugal projections in reference to the circular core of the teething ring; and / or - the protrusions and bulges have an accordion shape; and / or - the suction device comprises silicone; and / or - the suction device comprises a material configured to accumulate cold; and / or - the guard measures more than 4 cm, preferably more than 5 cm; and / or - the guard includes at least one ventilation hole; and / or - said ventilation orifice is arranged more than 2, and preferably less than 3 cm, from the location of the teat; and / or - the bulges are configured to receive a product to soothe infant teething pain
[0011] The invention further relates to an infant teething relief kit, comprising a suction device according to the invention, and a teething relief product to be applied to the teething ring of said device.
[0012] The invention will be further detailed by the description of non-limiting embodiments, and on the basis of the appended figures, among which: - [Fig.l] is a view in space of a suction device according to a preferred variant of the invention; - [Fig.2] is a side view of the device of the previous figure; - [Fig.3] is a rear view of the device of the preceding figures; and - [Fig.4] is a front view of the device of the previous figures.
[0013] The invention relates to a sucking and / or biting type suction device for calming an infant. The suction device of the invention makes it possible to implement a method for calming an infant, when the latter is bothered by teething in particular.
[0014] The suction device comprises a teat T, a guard G secured to the teat T, in a usual arrangement. The suction device is distinguished from the teats generally used by a teething ring A secured to the guard G.
[0015] Furthermore, the invention proposes to implement the teat T, the guard G and the teething ring A made in one piece from a flexible material. Preference is given to silicone, for example medical silicone.
[0016] In particular, the suction device can be one-piece, made entirely of silicone so as to be very soft and pure, meeting European standards.
[0017] The invention further proposes a particular configuration of the teething ring A. In the invention, the latter comprises an alternation of bulges R and protuberances P, where the protuberances are of substantially pointed shape. By "pointed shape" is meant a shape whose apex may have a radius of curvature of less than 7 mm, preferably less than 5 mm, more preferably less than 3 mm, while not causing injury to the infant.
[0018] The pointed protrusions P are configured to contact and massage the infant's growing gums and / or teeth.
[0019] In a preferred variant, the alternation of protuberances corresponds substantially to the centers of the infant's gums.
[0020] Advantageously, the suction device has the function of soothing by sucking on the teat side but also of relieving the doubling of the gums and the dental push by the teething ring A which has a design designed for this purpose. The entire suction device can be chewed. It is a multifunctional device, both a pacifier and a teething ring A.
[0021] The suction device is suitable for infants with and without teeth. The T-shaped nipple is also suitable, in terms of softness and rigidity, for infants with and without teeth.
[0022] In the illustrated variant, the protuberances P form centrifugal projections with reference to the circular core of the teething ring A. Thus, they form rings in the form of substantially pointed rings around the teething ring A. This shape facilitates the manufacture of the teething ring and makes it possible to have circular protuberances P, usable in all directions.
[0023] As can be seen in the figures, the protuberances P and bulges R have an accordion shape. This shape is designed to have a soothing effect during several cycles when the baby is teething. The shape allows during the period when the infant's gums are doubling, to have a massaging effect (non-continuous shape unlike commercial teething rings in the shape of spheres which are only used to be chewed).
[0024] Furthermore, the accordion shape allows for a structure that can be easily folded without tearing the teething ring A.
[0025] In the preferred variant, the guard G measures more than 4 cm, preferably more than 5 cm in span, in particular in diameter. This makes it possible to limit the risk of suffocation by placing the guard G on the infant's nose when sucking on the nipple.
[0026] Preferably, the guard G comprises at least one, more preferably two, ventilation orifices O. The ventilation orifices O are preferably sufficiently spacious to avoid any suction effect with the infant's skin which may be caused by saliva. Furthermore, the ventilation orifices O further limit the risk of suffocation. The placement of said ventilation orifice O may be more than 2 cm from the implantation of the teat T. It is preferably done less than 3 cm from the implantation of the teat T. This makes it possible to be in contact with the infant's nostrils.
[0027] The material of the suction device further allows it to be placed in the freezer or refrigerator to have an anesthetic effect by the cold. Thus, it is possible to envisage a variant where the suction device further comprises a material configured to accumulate cold. This type of material is known in itself and will not be discussed further.
[0028] Furthermore, in the design of the teething ring A, spaces of the bulges R may be configured to receive a soothing product, such as anesthetic gel. For example, a commercially available anesthetic gel may be used.
[0029] Thus, in this variant, the suction device makes it possible to massage the infant's gums by supplementing the massage with anesthesia to relieve the infant. This makes it possible to calm the infant during periods of discomfort and inconvenience during teething.
[0030] Thus, the design of the suction device, in addition to being chewed, has a massaging effect like a kind of wave.
[0031] The infant can chew the soft but relatively rigid teething ring A. This can relieve the gums, which often cause inflammation during teething.
[0032] The teething ring A helps to encourage the baby's gums to pierce through the pointed shape of the protuberances P.
[0033] The invention further relates to a teething relief kit for infants. The kit comprises a suction device as described above and a teething relief product to be applied to the teething ring A of said device.
