Description

Title of the invention: Care and / or makeup composition comprising a polyphenol, a compound capable of reacting by hydrogen bonds with the polyphenol, a monoalcohol and an antioxidant agent

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of care and / or makeup of keratin materials, and aims to propose compositions more particularly dedicated to makeup of the skin, in particular of the face, the eye contour, the eyelashes or the eyebrows.

[0002] Compositions dedicated to care and / or makeup are commonly used to provide beautification and / or aesthetic color to keratin materials such as the skin and areas of the face, eyelashes, eyebrows and nails.

[0003] Consumers are looking for care and / or makeup products that are stable over time and that produce, after application to the keratin material, a homogeneous deposit, pleasant sensory properties such as the perception of a very thin film and having good durability over time of the care and / or makeup effect obtained after application. The presence of polyphenols and in particular those of natural origin is particularly sought after for their beneficial properties for keratin materials such as the skin or keratin fibers such as eyelashes or eyebrows. Compositions comprising polyphenols do not give complete satisfaction in terms of stability over time because they tend to yellow or darken over time, probably due to a phenomenon of oxidation of the polyphenol.

[0004] There therefore remains a need to find new compositions for caring for and / or making up keratin materials based on polyphenols which are stable over time, produce after application to the keratin material a homogeneous deposit and pleasant sensory properties such as the perception of a very thin film, as well as good durability over time of the caring and / or make-up effect obtained after application without the disadvantages of yellowing or darkening mentioned above.

[0005] Unexpectedly, the inventors found that it is possible to achieve these objectives by using a composition comprising, in particular in a physiologically acceptable medium: 1) at least one polyphenol X comprising at least two different phenol groups, and 2) at least one non-ionic compound Y comprising at least two groups functional groups Gy, identical or different, capable of forming at least two hydrogen bonds with said phenol groups of polyphenol X; and (3) at least one mono-alcohol having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms at contents ranging from 40% to 90% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition; and (4) at least one antioxidant agent in a total amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition; said antioxidant agent being chosen from ascorbic acid, sodium metabisulfite, erythorbic acid, and mixtures thereof; and (5) water in an amount less than or equal to 30% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0006] The inventors have in fact discovered that the compositions of the invention were not only stable over time without observing any yellowing or darkening phenomenon but that they also produced, after application to the keratin material, a homogeneous deposit thanks to the formation of a coating agent resulting from the interaction by hydrogen bonds, at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, between the polyphenol X and the compound Y. This coating agent allowed excellent durability of the expected cosmetic effects on keratin materials, which could range from the day involving makeup removal at the end of the day, to durability over several days which is resistant to mechanical friction, water, sebum, oil, cleaning products such as shower gels, shampoos, bi-phasic products and certain micellar waters.

[0007] This discovery is the basis of the invention. Objects of the invention

[0008] Thus, a first object of the present invention is a composition comprising, preferably in a physiologically acceptable medium: ( 1) at least one polyphenol X comprising at least two different phenol groups, and 2) at least one non-ionic compound Y comprising at least two functional groups Gy, identical or different, capable of forming at least two hydrogen bonds with said phenol groups of polyphenol X; and (3) at least one mono-alcohol having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms at contents ranging from 40% to 90% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition; and (4) at least one antioxidant agent in a total amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition; said antioxidant agent being chosen from ascorbic acid, sodium metabisulfite, erythorbic acid, and mixtures thereof; and (5) water in an amount less than or equal to 30% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0009] A second subject of the present invention is a process for coating keratin materials comprising a step of applying to said keratin materials at least one composition as defined above. Definitions

[0010] In the context of the present invention, the term "keratin material" is understood to mean in particular skin such as the face, body, hands, cheeks, eyelids, the contour of the eyes, keratin fibers such as eyelashes, eyebrows, hairs such as those of the beard, nails. This term "keratin materials", within the meaning of the present invention, also extends to synthetic false eyelashes and false eyebrows.

[0011] By "physiologically acceptable" is meant compatible with the skin and / or its appendages, which has a pleasant color, odor and feel and which does not generate unacceptable discomfort (tingling, tightness), likely to deter the consumer from using this composition.

[0012] For the purposes of the invention, the term "hydrogen bond" means an interaction involving a hydrogen atom of one of the two reactants and an electronegative heteroatom of the other reactant such as oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and fluorine. In the context of the invention, the hydrogen bonds are made between the hydroxyl (OH) functions of the reactive phenol groups of polyphenol X and the reactive Gy functional groups containing these electronegative heteroatoms and capable of forming hydrogen bonds with said phenol groups of polyphenol X.

[0013] By “room temperature” we mean 25°C.

[0014] By “atmospheric pressure” we mean 760 mm of Hg or 101,325 Pascals. Polyphenol
