Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Additive manufacturing machine comprising a system for replacing a window fitted to a wall of the manufacturing enclosure.
[0001] The present invention relates to pollution by different types of deposits of a window equipping a wall of the manufacturing enclosure of an additive manufacturing machine.
[0002] A window fitted to a wall of the manufacturing enclosure of a laser beam additive manufacturing machine can be used so that a laser beam emitted outside the enclosure can penetrate inside the enclosure to achieve the selective melting of a layer of powder.
[0003] In addition, a window fitted to a wall of the manufacturing enclosure of an additive manufacturing machine can also be used by the camera of a surveillance system located outside the enclosure to capture images of the additive manufacturing process which is implemented inside the enclosure.
[0004] When implementing an additive manufacturing process by powder bed deposition and selective consolidation by laser beam in the manufacturing enclosure of an additive manufacturing machine, smoke particles and / or metal vapors may be deposited on the inner face of a window which equips one of the walls of this enclosure. These deposits, which reduce the transmittance of the window, must be avoided or removed from the inner face of the window because they are likely to cause degradation of the molten pool created by the laser beam and therefore degradation of the quality of the manufactured parts.
[0005] When the glass is used by a surveillance system, these deposits must be avoided or removed because they reduce the quality of the images captured by the surveillance system's camera and they are likely to cause false alarms, for example by being identified as coating defects.
[0006] Patent EP 1 998 929 describes a double air blade system for protecting the window through which a laser beam enters the manufacturing enclosure of an additive manufacturing machine.
[0007] The double air blade system described in patent EP 1 998 929 makes it possible to limit the deposition of smoke particles on the inner face of a window, however, it is less effective against other deposits such as deposits of metallic vapors.
[0008] Patent EP 3 296 080 provides for equipping a wall of the enclosure of an additive manufacturing machine with a movable protective window and a device for cleaning this window comprising a brush and / or a scraper. While one part of the protective window separates the laser source and the camera from the manufacturing enclosure, the other part of the protective glass can be cleaned.
[0009] The solution described in patent EP 3 296 080 makes it possible to remove certain deposits such as smoke particles, however, it cannot make it possible to remove other deposits such as metal vapor deposits.
[0010] The present invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of the prior art.
[0011] To this end, the invention relates to an additive manufacturing machine by powder bed deposition and selective consolidation of said powder, the machine comprising a manufacturing enclosure in which additive manufacturing is carried out by powder bed deposition and selective consolidation of said powder, a wall of said manufacturing enclosure being equipped with a window.
[0012] According to the invention, the additive manufacturing machine comprises a replacement system making it possible to automatically replace the window equipping a wall of said manufacturing enclosure with another window.
[0013] The replacement system allows a window dirty with various deposits to be replaced with a perfectly clean window. After replacing the window, the additive manufacturing machine can be used again under optimal conditions. Advantageously, the dirty windows can be removed from the machine and transported to a dedicated cleaning device in which all deposits, including deposits from metal vapors, can be removed, for example by immersing them in an ultrasonic bath or in a chemical bath.
[0014] Furthermore, the invention may also provide that: - the replacement system replaces one pane of glass with another pane of glass by translation of these panes or by rotation of these panes, - the replacement system performs the replacement of a window by moving the replacement window in translation and so that the replacement window moves the replaced window in translation, or the replacement system performs the replacement of a window by moving the replacement window in rotation so that it takes the position of the replaced window, - the replacement glass and the replaced glass move in translation in the same direction and in the same sense, or the replacement glass and the replaced glass move in rotation in the same sense of rotation, - the window replacement system comprises an actuator such as a jack for moving a replacement window in translation, or the replacement system takes the form of a carousel driven in rotation by a motor, - the replacement system includes an upstream loader storing several replacement windows, - the upstream loader is a chain or belt conveyor equipped with em- replacement glass reception locations, - the replacement system includes a downstream loader storing the replaced glass, - the downstream loader is a chain or belt conveyor equipped with locations for receiving replaced windows, or a storage area without an actuator in which the replaced windows gradually accumulate, - the replacement system includes a seal between a window and the wall fitted with this window, - the seal is inflatable and the replacement system includes a mounting gap between a window and the wall it is fitted with, the mounting gap allowing the window to be locked on the wall when the seal is inflated and allowing the window to be released from the wall when the seal is deflated, - the machine comprising a laser source and an optical unit associated with this laser source and / or a surveillance camera, the laser source and its optical unit and / or the surveillance camera are located outside the manufacturing enclosure behind a window fitted to a wall of this enclosure and which can be replaced by another window using a replacement system.
[0015] The invention also relates to a method for replacing a window fitted to a wall of a manufacturing enclosure with another window, the method being implemented in a machine equipped with a window replacement system according to the invention. According to this method, the replacement system replaces a window with another window when an additive manufacturing cycle is completed in the manufacturing enclosure of the machine, or the replacement system replaces a window with another window when an additive manufacturing cycle is in progress in the manufacturing enclosure of the machine.
[0016] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear in the description which follows. This description, given by way of example and not as a limitation, refers to the attached drawings in which: - [Fig.l] is a schematic representation of a first embodiment of an additive manufacturing machine equipped with a first variant of a window replacement system according to the invention, - [Fig.2] is a schematic representation of a second embodiment of an additive manufacturing machine equipped with a first variant of a window replacement system according to the invention, - [Fig.3] is a schematic representation of a third embodiment of an additive manufacturing machine equipped with a second variant of a window replacement system according to the invention, - [Fig.4] and [Fig.5] schematically illustrate the operation of the means sealing of a window replacement system according to the invention.
[0017] The invention relates to the problems of pollution by different deposits of a window equipping a wall of an additive manufacturing machine by deposition of a powder bed and selective consolidation of said powder.
[0018] ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING MACHINE
[0019] A first embodiment of an additive manufacturing machine by powder bed deposition and selective consolidation according to the invention is illustrated in [Fig.l].
[0020] The machine 10 comprises a manufacturing enclosure 12 in which additive manufacturing is carried out by deposition of a powder bed and selective consolidation of said powder.
[0021] For the implementation of additive manufacturing, the additive manufacturing machine 10 comprises a laser source 14 and an optical unit 16 associated with this laser source 14. The optical unit 16 comprises, for example, scanning mirrors for moving the spot of the laser beam over a layer of powder deposited on a support in the manufacturing enclosure and a device for adjusting the focusing of the laser beam. This optical unit 16 may also comprise a sensor for measuring the power of the laser beam and / or a sensor for monitoring the melt pool generated by the laser beam.
[0022] The laser source 14 and its optical unit 16 are located outside the manufacturing enclosure 12 behind a window 18 fitted to a wall of this enclosure. For example, the window 18 is fitted to the upper wall 20 of the manufacturing enclosure 12 and the laser source 14 and its optical unit are located above this upper wall opposite the window 18. The laser beam emitted by the source 14 and directed by the optical unit 16 passes through the window 18 to enter the manufacturing enclosure and carry out the selective melting of the powder deposited inside the manufacturing enclosure 12.
[0023] The manufacturing enclosure 12 is a closed enclosure which can be filled with an inert gas such as nitrogen. Advantageously, a circulation of inert gas can be provided in the manufacturing enclosure to evacuate the fumes produced by the melting of the powder and to cool the manufacturing enclosure.
[0024] Inside the manufacturing enclosure 12, the additive manufacturing machine 10 comprises a work zone 22 defined by a manufacturing plate 24 and a manufacturing jacket 26, the plate 24 translating in the jacket 26 under the effect of an actuator 28 such as a jack.
[0025] The manufacturing enclosure 12 comprising a work surface 30, the jacket 26 extends vertically under the work surface 30 and it opens into the work surface 30 through an opening provided in the latter.
[0026] In order to produce the different layers of powder useful for the additive manufacturing of an object O to be manufactured additively, the machine comprises means for depositing a layer of powder in the working area 22, and therefore above the plate 24.
[0027] In the machine illustrated as an example in [Fig.l], these means for depositing a layer of powder comprise two powder distributors 32, 34 connected to at least one powder reservoir (not shown) and two powder receiving drawers 36, 38 located on either side of the working area 22 and each located under a powder distributor. The means for depositing a layer of powder also comprise a powder spreading device 40 which may take the form of a roller or a scraper. The drawers 36, 38 slide in translation in sleeves 42, 44 provided near the working area 22. Advantageously, the sleeves 42, 44 can also be used to recover the excess powder deposited during the production of the powder layers.
[0028] In order to produce a layer of powder on the working area 22, a bead of powder is delivered by a dispenser onto a drawer, then the spreading device spreads the powder from the drawer towards the working area. To produce a bead of powder on the drawer, a drawer moves in translation under the dispenser with which it is associated.
[0029] MONITORING SENSOR
[0030] For the control of the additive manufacturing process, the additive manufacturing machine 10 may comprise a monitoring sensor 46 for the melt pool generated by the spot of the laser beam on a layer of powder. This monitoring sensor 46 is preferably located outside the manufacturing enclosure 12 and behind another window 48 fitted to a wall of this enclosure. For example, this window 48 is fitted to a side wall 50 of the manufacturing enclosure 12 and the monitoring sensor 46 is located next to this side wall 50 and opposite the window 48. Thanks to this window 48, the monitoring sensor can capture images of the layering of the powder and / or the melt pool generated by the spot of the laser beam inside the manufacturing enclosure.
[0031] FIRST VARIANT OF THE REPLACEMENT SYSTEM
[0032] According to the invention, the additive manufacturing machine 10 comprises at least one replacement system making it possible to automatically replace a window behind which a laser source and its optical unit and / or a monitoring sensor are located.
[0033] In the example illustrated in [Fig.l], a first replacement system 52 makes it possible to replace the glass 18 protecting the laser source 14 and its optical unit 16, and another replacement system 54 makes it possible to replace the glass 48 protecting the monitoring sensor 46.
[0034] As shown by the arrows F1 and F2 in [Fig.l], a replacement system replaces one pane of glass with another pane of glass, for example by translating these panes. For example, a replacement system replaces a glass by moving the replacement glass in translation and so that the replacement glass moves the replaced glass in translation. For example, a replacement system pushes the replacement glass towards the replaced glass and the replacement glass pushes the replaced glass. Preferably, the replacement glass and the replaced glass move in translation in the same direction and in the same sense which are illustrated by the arrows F1 and F2 in [Fig.l].
[0035] For example, the replacement window and the replaced window move in translation in the same horizontal direction F1 when they equip a horizontal wall of the manufacturing enclosure such as the upper wall 20 of this enclosure, or the replacement window and the replaced window move in translation in the same vertical direction F2 when they equip a vertical wall of the manufacturing enclosure such as a side wall of this enclosure. Also, when they equip a wall inclined in a direction which is neither horizontal nor vertical, the replacement window and the replaced window move in translation in this same direction which is neither horizontal nor vertical.
[0036] In order to drive the replacement window and the replaced window in translation, a replacement system comprises for example an actuator such as a jack 56, 58 for moving a replacement window in translation. The piston of the jack 56, 58 makes it possible to push the replacement window towards the replaced window.
[0037] Alternatively (not shown), a replacement system may replace one pane of glass with another pane of glass by rotating the panes of glass. In more detail, a replacement system replaces a pane of glass by rotating the replacement pane of glass so that it takes the position of the replaced pane of glass. For example, a replacement system rotates the replacement pane of glass towards the replaced pane of glass. Preferably, the replacement pane of glass and the replaced pane of glass rotate in the same direction of rotation.
[0038] In order to rotate the replacement window and the replaced window, a replacement system takes the form, for example, of a carousel rotated by a motor, the carousel comprising locations for receiving the windows.
[0039] Preferably, the replacement window and the replaced window are located in the same plane parallel to the wall they equip.
[0040] For example, the replacement window and the replaced window slide in or on the wall that they equip. Advantageously, a replacement system may comprise guide elements, such as rails, for the windows relative to the wall that supports these windows.
[0041] At a minimum, the replacement system comprises two panes: one pane in the use position and intended to be replaced and one stored replacement pane. near the window in the operating position.
[0042] Preferably, a replacement system 52,54 comprises an upstream loader 60,62 storing several replacement panes. Thus, the pane can be changed several times in an automated manner and without human intervention.
[0043] For example, an upstream loader 60, 62 takes the form of a chain or belt conveyor equipped with locations 63 for receiving windows. The upstream loader makes it possible to store the replacement windows one on top of the other in a vertical direction in the case where the replacement window and the replaced window move in a horizontal direction F1 under the effect of the actuator 56 or next to each other in a horizontal direction in the case where the replacement window and the replaced window move in a vertical direction F2 under the effect of the actuator 58.
[0044] Advantageously, during each window change, the upstream loader 60, 62 makes it possible to position a new replacement window behind the previous replacement window which is now in the use position and therefore in the position to be replaced. In more detail, the upstream loader makes it possible to position a new replacement window in the same plane as the previous replacement window which is now in the use position.
[0045] Advantageously, a replacement system 52,54 also comprises a downstream charger 64,66 storing several replaced windows. Thus, the window can be changed several times automatically and without human intervention.
[0046] For example, a downstream loader 64, 66 takes the form of a chain or belt conveyor equipped with locations 67 for receiving windows. The downstream loader makes it possible to store the replaced windows one on top of the other in a vertical direction in the case where the replacement window and the replaced window move in a horizontal direction F1 under the effect of the actuator 56 or next to each other in a horizontal direction in the case where the replacement window and the replaced window move in a vertical direction F2 under the effect of the actuator 58.
[0047] Alternatively, the downstream charger 64,66 may take the form of an actuator-free storage area in which the replaced windows gradually accumulate.
[0048] Advantageously, during each window change, the downstream loader 60, 62 makes it possible to receive a new replaced window in front of the window which is now in the use position and therefore in the position to be replaced. In more detail, the downstream loader makes it possible to receive a new replaced window in the same plane as the window which is now in the use position and therefore in the position to be replaced.
[0049] For example, the upstream 60, 62 and downstream 64, 66 chargers are protected from dust and possible external contamination by protective casings 67 which en- wrap both the windows they store and their conveyor.
[0050] In a second embodiment of a machine according to the invention illustrated in [Fig.2], the manufacturing chamber 12 with its window(s) 18, 48 and the window replacement system(s) 52, 54 are confined in a main enclosure 69. The main enclosure 69 is for example filled with an inert gas. The manufacturing chamber 12 acts as a double skin which is not gas-tight but which makes it possible to protect the window replacement systems 52, 54, the laser source 14 and its optical unit 16 and / or a monitoring sensor 46 from pollution and heat due to the selective consolidation of the powder.
[0051] SECOND VARIANT OF THE REPLACEMENT SYSTEM
[0052] In another variant illustrated in [Fig.3], a replacement system 68 makes it possible to automatically replace several windows behind which several laser sources and their respective optical units may be located, or a laser source and its optical unit and a monitoring sensor.
[0053] In the example illustrated in [Fig.3], the replacement system 68 makes it possible to replace two windows 70,72 protecting two laser sources 74,76 and their two respective optical blocks 78,80.
[0054] As shown by arrow F3 in [Fig. 3], the replacement system 68 for example replaces two panes with two other panes by translating these four panes. In more detail, the replacement system 68 replaces two panes by moving two replacement panes in translation and so that the two replacement panes move the two replaced panes in translation. For example, the replacement system 68 pushes the two replacement panes towards the two replaced panes and the two replacement panes push the two replaced panes. Preferably, the replacement panes and the replaced panes move in translation in the same direction and in the same sense which are illustrated by arrow F3 in [Fig. 3].
[0055] For example, the replacement panes and the replaced panes move in translation in the same horizontal direction F3 when they equip a horizontal wall of the manufacturing enclosure 12 such as the upper wall 20 of this enclosure. When they equip a vertical wall of the manufacturing enclosure such as a side wall of this enclosure, the replacement panes and the replaced panes move in translation in the same vertical direction. Also, when they equip a wall inclined in a direction which is neither horizontal nor vertical, the replacement panes and the replaced panes move in translation in this same direction which is neither horizontal nor vertical.
[0056] In order to drive the replacement windows and the replaced windows in translation, the replacement system 68 comprises for example an actuator such as a jack 82 allowing replacement windows to be moved in translation. The piston of the cylinder 82 allows the replacement windows to be pushed towards the replaced windows.
[0057] Alternatively (not shown), a replacement system may replace several panes of glass with several other panes of glass by rotating these panes. In more detail, a replacement system replaces several panes of glass by rotating the replacement panes so that they take the positions of the replaced panes. For example, a replacement system rotates the replacement panes towards the replaced panes. Preferably, the replacement panes and the replaced panes rotate in the same direction of rotation.
[0058] In order to rotate the replacement windows and the replaced windows, a replacement system takes the form, for example, of a carousel rotated by a motor, the carousel comprising locations for receiving the windows.
[0059] Preferably, the replacement windows and the replaced windows are located in the same plane parallel to the wall they equip.
[0060] For example, the replacement windows and the replaced windows slide in or on the wall that they equip. Advantageously, the replacement system may comprise guide elements, such as rails, for the windows relative to the wall that supports these windows.
[0061] In the example illustrated in [Fig.3], the replacement system 68 comprises two windows in the use position and intended to be replaced and at least two replacement windows stored near the windows in the use position.
[0062] For example, the system 68 for replacing several windows comprises an upstream loader 84 storing several batches of two replacement windows. Thus, the windows can be changed several times in an automated manner and without human intervention.
[0063] For example, the upstream loader 84 takes the form of a chain or belt conveyor equipped with locations 86 for receiving windows. The upstream loader 84 makes it possible to store the replacement windows one on top of the other in a vertical direction in the case where the replacement windows and the replaced windows move in a horizontal direction F3 under the effect of the actuator 82, or next to each other in a horizontal direction in the case where the replacement windows and the replaced windows move in a vertical direction under the effect of an actuator.
[0064] Advantageously, during each change of several windows, the upstream loader 84 makes it possible to position several new replacement windows behind the previous replacement windows which are now in the use position and therefore in the position to be replaced. In more detail, the upstream loader makes it possible to po Position the new replacement windows in the same plane as the previous replacement windows which are now in the position of use.
[0065] Advantageously, a system 68 for replacing several windows also comprises a downstream charger 88 storing several batches of replaced windows. Thus, the windows can be changed several times automatically and without human intervention.
[0066] For example, the downstream loader 88 takes the form of a chain or belt conveyor equipped with locations 90 for receiving windows. The downstream loader makes it possible to store the replaced windows one on top of the other in a vertical direction in the case where the replacement windows and the replaced windows move in a horizontal direction F3 under the effect of the actuator 82, or next to each other in a horizontal direction in the case where the replacement windows and the replaced windows move in a vertical direction under the effect of an actuator.
[0067] Alternatively, the downstream loader 88 may take the form of an actuator-free storage area in which the replaced windows gradually accumulate.
[0068] Advantageously, during each window replacement, the downstream loader 88 makes it possible to receive the replaced windows in front of the windows which are now in the use position and therefore in the position to be replaced. In more detail, the downstream loader makes it possible to receive the replaced windows in the same plane as the windows which are now in the use position and therefore in the position to be replaced.
[0069] For example, the upstream 84 and downstream 88 loaders are protected from dust and possible external contamination by protective casings which envelop both the windows which they store and the conveyors.
[0070] To facilitate the simultaneous changing of several panes, supports 92 may be provided for securing several panes together. In the example illustrated in [Fig.3], the supports 92 make it possible to secure the panes two by two in the same plane. The panes thus assembled form an assembly which can be moved by the pane changing system, its actuator and its loaders as a single pane.
[0071] In a third embodiment of a machine according to the invention illustrated in [Fig. 3], the manufacturing chamber 12 is positioned inside a main chamber 93, but the window replacement system 68 is positioned outside the two chambers. The windows 70, 72 therefore serve as an interface between the outside and the inside of the machine. The manufacturing chamber 12 acts as a double skin that is not gas-tight but makes it possible to protect the main enclosure 93 from the heat and pollution emanating from the manufacturing chamber. The main enclosure 93 is for example filled with an inert gas. In this third embodiment, the window replacement system 68 is preferably protected by a protective casing 95.
[0072] SEALING
[0073] As illustrated in all the figures, and particularly in figures 4 and 5, a replacement system 52, 54, 68 preferably comprises a seal 94 between a window 18, or several windows connected by a support, and the wall 20, 50 equipped with this window or this set of windows. Ideally, the seal 94 is an inflatable seal and the replacement system 52, 54, 68 comprises a mounting clearance J between a window and the wall with which it is equipped, the mounting clearance J making it possible to block the window on the wall when the seal is inflated and to release the window relative to the wall when the seal is deflated. Thus, as illustrated in [Fig. 4], the seal 94 is deflated to release the window or windows for their replacement, for example by translation, by another window or several other windows, and, as shown in [Fig.5], the seal is re-inflated to lock the new window or windows in the position of use in front of an optical unit 16 of a laser source or in front of a monitoring sensor 46. In more detail, when the seal 94 is deflated, the mounting clearance J allows a slight clearance, of a few millimeters for example, of a window between the wall it equips and the optical unit of a laser source or between the wall it equips and a monitoring sensor.
[0074] METHOD
[0075] The invention also relates to a method for replacing a window fitted to a wall of a manufacturing enclosure with another window, the method being implemented with an additive manufacturing machine equipped for example with the first variant of the replacement system described above.
[0076] The invention also relates to a method for replacing several panes of glass equipping a wall of a manufacturing enclosure with other panes of glass, the method being implemented with an additive manufacturing machine equipped for example with the second variant of the replacement system described above.
[0077] Preferably, the replacement method provides that the replacement system replaces one pane with another pane, or several panes with several other panes, when an additive manufacturing cycle is completed in the manufacturing enclosure of the machine.
[0078] Optionally, the replacement method could also provide that the replacement system replaces one pane with another pane, or several panes with several other panes, when an additive manufacturing cycle is in progress in the manufacturing enclosure of the machine.
