Description

Title of the invention: Frame for a fixed or opening joinery frame and its manufacturing method

[0001] The present invention relates to a frame for a fixed or opening joinery window forming a frame and its manufacturing method.

[0002] It relates in particular to a frame for a fixed or opening joinery window forming a frame, said frame, intended to be mounted in an opening, comprising a framework and at least one facing.

[0003] Frames for fixed or opening joinery parts forming frames are well known to those skilled in the art. Such a frame is, when it is used as an opening, associated with a filling element of the frame constituting the frame, this filling element generally being in the form of glazing or a panel. Such a frame, when it is used as a fixed part, is simply inserted into an opening, such as a bay window in a building. A distinction is made between frames made of wood, metal, particularly aluminum, and plastic frames, commonly known as PVC frames for polyvinyl chloride. Plastic frames are characterized by good thermal insulation characteristics but by low mechanical strength and manufacturing complexity due in particular to the welding operations required to assemble the sides of the frame, these welding operations then requiring a deburring operation. In addition, plastic frames require, in the case of large plastic frames, the integration of metal reinforcements. Aluminum frames require the presence of two aluminum frames connected to each other by a connection ensuring a break in the thermal bridge. This results in a high cost of such frames due to the presence of two metal frames. Wooden frames or mixed wood / metal frames are not developing due to maintenance constraints and their high cost. Manufacturers are constantly looking for frames of the aforementioned type whose design combines the advantages of the different existing frames.

[0004] An aim of the invention is to propose a frame for a fixed or opening joinery frame, the design of which makes it possible to offer good mechanical resistance and a thinness of the frame without harming the thermal insulation qualities of said frame.

[0005] Another object of the invention is to propose a frame for a fixed or opening joinery window forming a frame whose design allows easy maintenance and easy recycling.

[0006] To this end, the invention relates to a fixed or opening frame of frame-forming nuiserie, said frame, intended to be mounted in an opening of a construction, comprising a frame and at least one facing, characterized in that the frame, preferably quadrangular, comprises metal structural profiles, in that each structural profile is assembled to an adjacent structural profile to form a frame having two opposite faces with each structural profile forming one side of said frame constituting the frame, in that the or each facing forms a covering of the part of the frame constituting the frame used to delimit one of the faces of said frame and called the edge of a face of the frame, this part of the frame constituting the frame being able to be provided with or without a zone for fixing said frame to the opening to be equipped, in that the or each facing is formed of plastic facing profiles,in that the number of facing profiles of the or each facing is equal to the number of structural profiles of the frame, in that, for the or at least one of the facings, each facing profile of said facing is of identical length to within + or - 2% of the structural profile that it covers, each facing profile of said facing is coupled at least by a snap-on connection to the structural profile of the frame that it covers and the facing profiles of said facing form, in the coupled state to the structural profiles that they cover, a covering frame, this covering frame covering the part of the frame constituting the frame used to delimit the face of said frame to be covered by said facing, or completely in the absence of a fixing zone on said part, either partially in the presence of at least one fixing zone on said part to leave the fixing zone(s) exposed. The production of a framework in the form of a metal frame makes it possible to obtain sufficient mechanical resistance. The cladding of at least one of the faces of the framework with a plastic facing, at the rate of one facing profile of said facing per structural profile, with each facing profile coupled to a structural profile by at least one snap-on connection, allows for a plastic cladding in the form of a cladding frame without having to weld the cladding profiles together at the corners of the cladding frame that makes up the cladding. This results in easy manufacturing without compromising the thermal insulation characteristics of the frame. The plastic cladding profiles allow for the formation of a thermally insulating cladding on one side of the frame that makes up the framework and prevent the framework from expanding in high heat. The design also allows for easy replacement of the cladding or each cladding without having to dismantle the framework.

[0007] According to one embodiment of the invention, each structural profile is a hollow body assembled to an adjacent structural profile by an L-shaped connecting piece, the branches of the L forming between them an angle preferably between 70 and 120°. This results in simplicity of implementation for the production of the frame.

[0008] According to one embodiment of the invention, the branches of the L form an angle equal to 90° between them. In this case, the connecting piece is a bracket. Each branch of the connecting piece is deformable by crimping.

[0009] According to one embodiment of the invention, the metal of each structural profile is chosen from the group of metals formed by steel and aluminum.

[0010] According to one embodiment of the invention, the plastic of each facing profile is chosen from the group of plastics formed by polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (CPET).

[0011] According to one embodiment of the invention, each facing profile is coupled to the structural profile which it covers in a removable manner by simple traction. Indeed, ideally, a simple traction exerted on the facing profile allows it to be separated from the structural profile. It is thus easy to replace the facing.

[0012] According to one embodiment of the invention, each structural profile is assembled to an adjacent structural profile by forming with said adjacent structural profile an angle of between 70° and 120°.

[0013] The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a frame for a fixed or opening joinery window forming a frame, characterized in that the frame being in the manufactured state of the aforementioned type, said method comprises a step of coupling by snap-fastening each structural profile with the facing profile(s) used for covering said structural profile and a step of assembling the structural profiles together.

[0014] If necessary, the method may comprise a step of cutting to length at least one of the assemblies formed by a structural profile with the facing profile(s) used for covering said structural profile before assembling said structural profile to at least one adjacent structural profile.

[0015] The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a frame for a fixed or opening joinery window forming a frame, characterized in that the frame being in the manufactured state of the aforementioned type, said method comprises a step of assembling the structural profiles together and a step of coupling by snap-fastening each structural profile with the facing profile(s) used for covering said structural profile. Brief description of the drawings

[0016] The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of exemplary embodiments, with reference to the appended drawings in which:

[0017] [Fig. 1] represents a perspective view of a chassis according to the invention in the exploded position of the elements constituting it;

[0018] [Fig.2] represents a partial sectional view of a frame and a frame openings conforming to the invention.

[0019] As mentioned above, the invention relates to a joinery frame 1 forming a frame. This joinery frame 1 may constitute a joinery frame 1 for a fixed frame or a joinery opening frame 1 for a fixed frame depending on whether or not said frame can be moved.

[0020] An opening frame is also generally characterized by the presence of a filling element 10, such as glazing or a panel inside the frame. Thus, [Fig.2] illustrates both a frame 1 of a fixed part and a frame 1 of an opening part, the two frames being in accordance with the invention. This frame 1 comprises, independently of its function as an opening part or a fixed part, a frame 2 and one or two facings 3. The frame 1 of the fixed part in [Fig.2] is shown with two facings 3. The opening frame 1 in [Fig.2] is a so-called hidden opening part.

[0021] The frame 2 of the chassis 1 is a frame-shaped frame. This frame has two opposite faces. The frame formed by the frame 2 is here a quadrangular frame with four sides. This frame 2 comprises structural profiles 4 with each structural profile 4 forming one side of the frame constituting the frame 2. The frame 2 comprises as many structural profiles 4 as there are sides of the frame formed by the frame 2. Each structural profile 4 is a structural profile made of metal, in particular aluminum or steel.

[0022] In the example shown, the structural profile 4 is made of aluminum. By profile is meant an elongated body of constant section. Each structural profile 4 is assembled to an adjacent structural profile 4 by forming, with said adjacent structural profile 4, an angle preferably between 70° and 120°. This angle is here equal to 90° in the example shown in [Fig.l].

[0023] Each structural profile 4 is a hollow body assembled to an adjacent structural profile 4 by an L-shaped connecting piece. The branches of the L form an angle between them which can be between 70° and 120°.

[0024] In the example shown, the branches of the L form an angle of 90° between them. The connecting piece 7 is therefore a connecting bracket. This connecting piece can be made of metal or plastic.

[0025] Each branch of the L can be inserted into the cavity of the hollow body constituting a structural profile 4. This results in simplicity of implementation for assembly. This fitting of a branch of the L of the connecting piece into the cavity of the hollow body constituting a structural profile can be locked by crimping. In other words, the holding of the branch of the L in the cavity of the hollow body can be carried out by crimping.

[0026] The frame 1 comprises one or two facings 3. Each facing 3 is applied on one face of the frame constituting the framework 2. Each facing 3 thus forms a covering on one face of the frame constituting the framework 2. This covering is a thermally insulating covering. This facing 3 is formed of facing profiles 5 made of plastic. The plastic of each facing profile 5 can be chosen from the group of plastics formed by polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (CPET).

[0027] In the example shown, the plastic is PET. The number of facing profiles 5 of the facing 3 is equal to the number of structural profiles 4 of the frame 2, namely four facing profiles 5 for a quadrangular frame.

[0028] The length of each facing profile 5 of a facing is equal to within ± 2% of the length of the structural profile 4 covered by said facing profile 5.

[0029] Each facing profile 5 is coupled at least by a snap-on connection 6, that is to say by elastic interlocking to the structural profile 4 which covers it. For this snap-on connection 6, the facing profile and the structural profile which covers it comprise one, at least one male shape, the other, at least one female shape, said shapes being able to fit into each other. During this interlocking, the male or female shape of the facing profile deforms to facilitate said connection 6. Examples of male and female shapes are provided in [Fig.2]. Due to this snap-on connection, each facing profile is coupled to the structural profile which covers it in a removable manner by simple traction. It is thus sufficient to exert traction in the direction of removal on the facing profile 5 coupled to the structural profile 4 to remove it from the structural profile 4.This means that the facing can be easily replaced if damaged or for aesthetic reasons.

[0030] In the coupled state of the facing profiles 5 of the facing 3 to the structural profiles 4 of the frame-shaped framework 2 which they cover, said facing profiles 5 form a covering frame. This covering frame covers all or part, that is to say totally or partially the part of the frame constituting the framework 2 used to delimit the face of said frame to be covered by said facing 3 as illustrated in [Fig.2]. Thus, this covering frame completely covers the part of the frame constituting the framework 2 used to delimit the face of said frame to be covered by said facing in the absence of a fixing zone on the part of the frame constituting the framework 2 used to delimit the face of said frame to be covered by said facing 5 as illustrated at the level of the right part of the opening frame in [Fig.2].This cladding frame partially covers the part of the frame constituting the framework 2 used to delimit the face of said frame to be covered by said facing in the presence of at least one fixing zone 8 on the part of the frame constituting the framework 2 used to delimit the face of said frame to be covered by said facing 5 as illustrated on the left part. of the frame of the fixed frame in [Fig. 2] to leave exposed the fixing zone(s). The or at least one of the fixing zones can be used to anchor the frame of the fixed frame in the masonry used to delimit the opening of the construction. Generally, the opening frame is devoid of such fixing zones. Thus, in the mounted state of the fixed frame or opening in an opening, such as a bay, at each face of the frame formed by the frame, in the closed state of the opening, the visible part of the frame is formed by the facing 3. This facing 3 can be completely dismantled and replaced without having to dismantle the frame 2, so that the aesthetics of the frame 1 can be modified in an extremely rapid time.

[0031] The manufacture of such a chassis 1 is also extremely simple. Two implementations can be envisaged.

[0032] Thus, the method may comprise a step of coupling by snap-fastening each structural profile 4 with the facing profile(s) 5 used for cladding said structural profile 4 and a step of assembling the structural profiles 4 together. In this case, the structural profile 4 and the cladding profile 5 may initially each be in the form of a bar. It is therefore sufficient to assemble them by snap-fastening, which can be done without tools, then to cut them to the length of one side of the chassis frame to be produced before assembling the structural profiles together using the L-shaped connecting pieces 7 with each branch of the L inserting into a cavity of a structural profile which is a hollow body. In this method, the facing profiles 5 are assembled to the structural profile but are not assembled together, in particular at each of their ends by welding, as is the case in the prior art. Each facing profile 5 is simply, at each of its ends, in contact with an adjacent facing profile. This contact extends along a surface that is as flat as possible. This contact can result from a miter cut or a straight cut of the ends that are to come into contact with two adjacent facing profiles 5. In the example of [Fig.l], it is a miter cut that is shown.

[0033] Alternatively, the method may comprise a step of assembling the structural profiles 4 together and a step of coupling by snap-fastening each structural profile 4 with the facing profile(s) 5 used for cladding said structural profile 4. Again, the step of assembling the structural profiles together is carried out, between two adjacent structural profiles, using a connecting piece 7, with each connecting branch being inserted into a structural profile to be assembled, each structural profile being a hollow body. The final result is identical regardless of the method implemented. In both implementations, the facing 3 can be easily dismantled and replaced due to the absence of a connection between the facing profiles 5 which are simply in contact with an adjacent facing profile at each of their ends to ensure visual continuity of the frame constituted by the facing profiles 5 in the assembled state to the structural profiles 4.
