Description

Title of the invention: Domestic oven seal clip and oven seal comprising this clip

[0001] The present invention relates to a staple for an oven seal, an oven seal comprising this staple, and a method of manufacturing this oven seal. State of the art

[0002] Domestic ovens are provided with gaskets and seals against which the oven door rests when it is closed.

[0003] Oven door gaskets and seals traditionally comprise a tubular metal mesh over which a textile gasket is braided in a high-temperature resistant material. To fix and hold these gaskets in position on the oven, it is known to use a clip or staple, conventionally made by bending a metal wire. This staple has a retaining part in the gasket and a retaining part in an opening made in the structure of the oven as shown for example in document FR3039255.

[0004] Given the high temperature that can occur in the oven - up to 500°C in a pyrolysis cleaning program - it is important that the door seal cannot be removed by a user.

[0005] It is also important that the assembly of this seal on the structure of the oven is easy.

[0006] In this context, the present invention aims to improve the fixing on a domestic oven of a door gasket and seal.

[0007] The invention relates to a staple for a domestic oven seal formed in a segment of steel wire, the staple comprising a base intended to be inserted into a braided tubular seal, the base having a polygonal geometry inscribed in a plane P and, connected to said base, a head intended to be inserted into an opening made in an oven structure, the head having two uprights inscribed in a plane P' orthogonal to the plane P and a point oriented according to a plane P' ' which forms an acute angle α with the plane P'.

[0008] In a preferred embodiment, the tip comprises two strands which converge from the end of the uprights towards the base. The tip acts as an anchor when the staple is engaged in an opening made in the structure of an oven.

[0009] In a preferred embodiment, the head has a post connected to the base and a post oriented divergently toward the base. The presence of a divergently oriented post allows the head to be constrained in a longitudinal direction and thus ensures additional blocking.

[0010] According to one possibility, the base has a pentagonal geometry which comprises a transverse strand connected to two parallel longitudinal strands; each longitudinal strand is extended by an oblique strand, one of the oblique strands being connected to the head.

[0011] According to one possibility, the upright is connected to an oblique strand ensuring the connection between the base and the head while the opposite upright is oriented in an oblique divergent manner towards the base.

[0012] According to one possibility, the head is provided with a beak which extends the upright perpendicularly thereto.

[0013] According to one possibility, the beak is tangent to the transverse strand.

[0014] According to one aspect the invention relates to a thermal insulation seal for a domestic oven, the seal comprising at least one staple having one or more of the aforementioned characteristics.

[0015] Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will emerge clearly from the detailed description below of an embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended drawings in which:

[0016] [Fig-1] is a front view of a staple according to one embodiment of the invention;

[0017] [Fig.2] is a side view of the clip of [Fig.l];

[0018] [Fig.3] is a perspective view of the clip of [Fig.l];

[0019] [Fig.4] is a view of another embodiment of a staple;

[0020] [Fig.5] is a partially broken away view of a domestic oven seal;

[0021] [Fig.6] is a view of a joint equipped with a staple;

[0022] [Fig.7] is a view showing the installation of a seal in an opening of a structure of domestic oven;

[0023] [Fig. 8] is a view of an interior face of a furnace structure showing a staple engaged in an opening.

[0024] In its various embodiments, the staple 1 according to the invention is formed from a segment of stainless steel wire which may, for example, have a diameter of 0.8 mm. This segment of steel wire is shaped by bending to form the staple 1 according to the invention.

[0025] As can be seen, for example, in [Fig.l], the clip 1 comprises a base 10 intended to be inserted into a joint 200 which will be described later and a head 50 intended to be inserted into a rectangular opening 300 formed in the structure of a domestic oven.

[0026] The base 10 is inscribed in a plane P and the head 50 is inscribed in a plane P' perpendicular to the plane P (cf. [Fig.2]).

[0027] The base 10 has a polygonal geometry which, in the example illustrated, is a pentagon which has a transverse strand 101 connected to two parallel longitudinal strands 102; each longitudinal strand 102 is extended by an oblique strand 103.

[0028] The head 50 has an M-shaped geometry formed by two coplanar uprights 501. The two uprights 501 are preferably non-parallel as shown in the figures while remaining coplanar. An upright 501 is connected to an oblique strand 103 which ensures the connection between the base 10 and the head 50 while the opposite upright 501' is oriented in a slightly oblique divergent manner towards the base 10.

[0029] The head 50 further comprises a tip 503 which is formed of two strands 504 which converge from the end of the uprights 501 towards the base 10 and constitutes the central part of the M.

[0030] One point worth noting is that the tip 503 itself lies in a plane P” which is angularly offset by an angle α from the plane P as shown in [Fig.2]. In practice, the angle α may be between 3° and 15°.

[0031] The head 50 may, moreover, be provided with a beak 506 which extends an upright 501' perpendicularly thereto.

[0032] [Fig.4] shows a variant in which the beak 506 can come to touch the transverse strand 101 of the base 10. In other embodiments, the beak 506 is at a distance from the transverse strand 101 of the base 10.

[0033] The straight strands are connected by rounded portions formed by bending the steel wire segment with a suitable tool.

[0034] The dimensions of the base may be, for example, of the order of 14 mm by 6 mm while the head may have a height of 12 mm.

[0035] The seal 200 may comprise a tubular inner metal mesh 202, and a textile braided lining 204 which comes over the metal mesh 202. The braided lining 204 comprises a thermally insulating textile material adapted to withstand temperatures of the order of 400°C to 500°C; this braided lining 204 may be, for example, made of glass fibers. An adhesive tape (not shown) may be provided at the ends of the seal 200 so that the braid of the braided lining 204 does not form a proliferation of fibers.

[0036] In practice, a series of staples 1 is inserted during the braiding of the seal during its manufacture according to a pitch which corresponds to the distance which separates two openings of the oven. The base 10 is taken between the metal mesh 202 and the braided lining 204. As can be seen in [Fig.6], the beak 506 comes to bear against the braided lining 204.

[0037] The seal 200 thus equipped can be fixed to the oven. For this, the seal 200 is brought closer to the oven so that the staples 1 come opposite the openings 300 made in the structure of the oven.

[0038] As seen in [Fig.7], the head 50 of the staple is introduced into the opening. The tip 503 flexes to approach the plane P' which allows its introduction into the opening 300 and the upright 501' flexes to approach the upright 501. After being fully engaged in the opening 300, the tip 503 elastically returns to its initial position and anchors the joint 200.

[0039] In the event of traction exerted on the seal 200, the tip 503 will tend to move away from the plane P' which will reinforce the retention of the seal 200.

[0040] As shown in [Fig.8] which shows the inner face of the furnace structure, the clip 1 provides longitudinal retention by virtue of the uprights 501 and 501' which are constrained in this direction and transverse retention by virtue of the tip 503 which bears against the inner surface of the furnace structure, making accidental or intentional removal of the seal difficult. In addition, the clip prevents the occurrence of play between the seal 200 and the furnace during the life of the furnace.
