[0034] [Fig.6] [Fig.6] illustrates the driving tool of [Fig.4] with the second magazine of the assembly mounted thereon; and

[0035] [Fig.7] [Fig.7] illustrates the driving tool of [Fig.4] with the third magazine of the assembly mounted thereon. Detailed description of the invention

[0036] Referring now to Figures 1 to 3, there can be seen a driving tool assembly 1 comprising a driving tool 2 for driving fasteners, and two magazines 3, 4 for each containing a plurality of fasteners, each magazine 3, 4 being removably mountable on the tool 2 for supplying the tool 2 with fasteners.

[0037] The tool 2 comprises a main body 20 with a firing chamber 21, a handle 22 and a magazine support 23 each depending from spaced locations of the main body 20. The tool 2 also comprises a first magazine connector 24 under the form of a movable hook 24a which depends from the main body 20 adjacent to the firing chamber 21 and an intermediate magazine connector 25 in the form of a recess (not shown) in the magazine holder 23 adjacent to its lower free end. The free end of the magazine holder 23 is connected to the handle 22 by a narrow bridge 26, which constitutes a further connecting feature, as will be seen later.

[0038] Each magazine 3, 4 comprises a guide 30, 40 extending along its length for receiving and guiding strips of fasteners (not shown). Each guide 30, 40 comprises an inlet 30a, 40a into which the strips of fasteners (not shown) can be inserted, and an outlet 30b, 40b through which the fasteners (not shown) are introduced into the firing chamber 21.

[0039] Each magazine 3, 4 comprises a first connector 31, 41 in the form of a recess (not shown) for receiving in engagement the first magazine connector 24 of the tool 2. Each magazine 3, 4 also comprises an intermediate connector 32, 42 in the form of a hook 32a, 42a intended to be inserted into the intermediate connector 25 of the tool 2.

[0040] The second magazine 4 differs from the first magazine 3 in that it is longer, with an extended portion 40c, so that it can hold more fasteners. More specifically, the guide 40 of the second magazine 4 extends over an arc length of more than 90 degrees. This is illustrated more clearly in [Fig.l], where a represents the angle by which the guide 40 extends beyond 90 degrees.

[0041] The second magazine 4 also includes a further connecting element 43, which is in the form of a bracket 44. The bracket 44 includes a securing strap 44a and a pair of diverging arms 45a, 45b extending from the securing strap 44a to connect to spaced portions of the extended portion 40c of the guide 40. The securing strap 44a is configured to wrap around the narrow bridge 26 connecting the handle 22 to the magazine bracket 23, in order to secure the extended portion 40c of the second magazine 4 to the tool 2.

[0042] In use, the assembly 1 has a first operational configuration, in which the first magazine 3 is mounted on the tool 2, illustrated in [Fig. 2], and a second operational configuration, in which the second magazine 4 is mounted on the tool 2, illustrated in [Fig. 3]. In each case, the first and intermediate connectors 31, 41 of the magazines 3, 4 are connected to the first and intermediate connectors 24, 25 of the tool 2. However, when the second magazine 4 is connected to the tool 2, as illustrated in [Fig. 3], the additional connection element 43 is also connected to the narrow bridge 26 of the tool 2.

[0043] Those skilled in the art will understand that the length of the arc of the second magazine 4 is such that there is a vertical slope in the part of the guide 40 adjacent to the entrance 40a. in both primary orientations of use. More specifically, when the tool 2 is used on horizontal substrates, this portion of the guide 40 is substantially vertical, whereas when the tool 2 is used on vertical substrates, there is a slight vertical slope. This prevents the multiple unconnected strips of fasteners (not shown) received in the guide 40 from falling out, without the need for a specific retention mechanism.

[0044] Figures 4 to 7 show a driving tool assembly 101 according to another example similar to the driving tool assembly 1 of Figures 1 to 3, where like references represent like features. The driving tool 101 according to this example differs from that of Figures 1 to 3 in that it includes a handle extension 6 usable in a standing position and a third magazine 5, which is longer than the second magazine 4 so as to contain more fasteners (not shown).

[0045] The third magazine 5 comprises a guide 50 extending along its length for receiving and guiding strips of fasteners (not shown). The guide 50 comprises an inlet 50a, an outlet 50b and an extended portion 50c which is even longer than that of the second magazine 4, but it also comprises an end portion 50b which is substantially straight.

[0046] The third magazine 5 comprises a first connector 51 in the form of a recess (not shown), for receiving in engagement the first magazine connector 24 of the tool 2, and an intermediate connector 52 in the form of a hook 52a intended to be inserted into the intermediate connector 25 of the tool 2.

[0047] The handle extension 6 comprises an elongated bar 60 with a tool holder 61 at one end, an extension handle 62 at the other end, and an actuation line 63 extending along the elongated bar 60 between the extension handle 62 and the tool holder 61. The actuation line 63 is attached to a free end of the extension handle 62, is operatively connected to a trigger mechanism (not shown) of the tool 2, and is slidably guided at a connection between the extension handle 62 and the elongated bar 60. Thus, the tool 2 can be actuated by a user by wrapping his or her hand around the extension handle 62 and squeezing the actuation line 63.

[0048] The third magazine 5 also includes a further connecting element 53, which is in the form of a support 54. The support 54 is connected to the elongated bar 60 by a connecting block 54a and includes a pair of diverging arms 55a, 55b extending from the connecting block 54a to connect to spaced portions of the extended portion 50c of the guide 50.

[0049] Throughout the description, the words "include" and "contain" and variations thereof mean "including but not limited to", and are not intended to (and do not exclude) other parts, additives, or whole or partial components. Throughout the description, the singular includes the plural, unless the context otherwise requires. In particular, where the indefinite article is used, the specification is to be understood as contemplating plurality as well as singularity, unless the context otherwise requires.

[0050] Features, integers, characteristics, compounds or groups described in connection with a particular aspect, embodiment or example of the invention should be understood as being applicable to any other aspect, embodiment or example described herein, unless inconsistent therewith.
