Description

Title of the invention: Distribution assembly for a seeder and associated emptying method

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of distribution assemblies for a seeder and the field of emptying methods.

[0002] The invention thus relates more generally to the field of single-seed sowing, which is also called precision sowing, i.e. sowing in rows of seeds one by one. Single-seed sowing finds its application in the cultivation of corn, beetroot, soybeans or the like.

[0003] A single-seed seeder is generally in the form of a beam-frame on which are fixed sowing elements which are most often between 4 and 12, or even more, thanks to a parallelogram. The spacing between these sowing elements varies according to the crops, preferably between 37.5 centimeters and 80 centimeters, but allows for the formation of very distinct rows. For this reason, it is common in this case to speak of row crops, as opposed to crops such as wheat where the spacing is much smaller.

[0004] In a known manner, a distribution assembly for a single-seed seeder operates generally in the manner set out below.

[0005] A two-part sealed housing comprises a perforated distribution disc preferably driven in rotation by a motor which forms a distribution member for a plurality of granular elements. The distribution disc separates the housing into two chambers in which the air pressures are different, a pressure difference which can be positive or negative is therefore created on either side of the perforated distribution disc. The housing is connected to a blower which makes it possible to manage the pressure difference according to the type of seed, the forward speed, and other parameters.

[0006] At the bottom of the perforated distribution disc, that is to say at the bottom of the housing, there is a reserve area for granular elements, for example seeds, which is most often supplied by a hopper. These seeds are in contact with the rotating perforated distribution disc, which, as it rotates, will draw the seeds one by one into its perforations.

[0007] The diameter and shape of the perforations of the distribution disc are made so as to be able to accommodate a single granular element, for example a seed, the granular element is held in the perforation by the pressure difference between the two sides of the distribution disc. The perforations are often bordered by special shapes which are, for example, raised and / or hollow and are arranged in the distribution disc so as to guide and / or direct the seeds towards the perforation. These areas around the perforations are commonly called agitators.

[0008] Once the seeds have been distributed into the perforations of the distribution disc, a so-called selection system makes it possible to eliminate the excess seeds to avoid duplicates, since it may happen that several seeds are lodged in a single perforation, which is not desirable. The selection can be carried out using teeth, brushes, or the like which are fixedly mounted and are located outside and / or inside the path of the seeds. As a result, the excess seeds fall back into the reserve area.

[0009] Once the seeds have been selected, they are transported to the last zone of the distribution which is generally located in the last quarter turn of the distribution disc, where the pressure difference is no longer present. As a result of this absence of pressure difference, the seed leaves the perforation and exits the distribution towards the ground. The ejection of the seed can be assisted by a wheel which makes it possible to cut the pressure difference and possibly to push the seed out of the perforation using spikes.

[0010] After using the seeder, it is common for a remainder of granular elements to be present in the reserve area. The distribution assembly may, under certain conditions, require emptying of the granular elements still present in the reserve area after using the seeder. This situation may arise, for example, when the door of the sealed housing must be opened to change the distribution disc and / or to carry out a cleaning and / or maintenance operation.

[0011] Usually, when opening the door and / or removing the disc depending on whether it is in the door or not, then the remaining granular elements will fall to the ground outside the distribution assembly.

[0012] This results in multiple problems, namely that the seeds on the ground have to be collected and / or are wasted, which is inconvenient and messy.

[0013] To avoid the aforementioned problems and facilitate emptying, emptying chutes inclined towards the ground are already known, but they only allow the remaining seeds to be poured into a container such as a bucket, bag or similar. This type of emptying chute is therefore not optimal for cases where the operator does not have a container at hand and because the operator must be able to place it in the correct position before opening the door.

[0014] Draining can be done with the door open or closed if the distribution assembly has a lower drain hatch at its outlet.

[0015] Existing drain chutes are generally added parts which are attached to the distribution when needed.

[0016] Document EP3610714A1 already describes a drain chute as described previously. In particular, the drain chute can be mounted on both sides of the distribution, which allows the distribution to be drained from both sides.

[0017] The present invention aims to overcome at least one of these aforementioned drawbacks and aims to provide a solution allowing better preparation of the emptying operation to improve emptying.

[0018] To this end, the invention relates to a distribution assembly for a seeder comprising at least:

[0019] - a waterproof housing comprising at least one fixed part and a movable door between an open position and a closed position,

[0020] - a distribution member for a plurality of granular elements arranged for distribute a plurality of granular elements in a discrete and singular manner,

[0021] the dispensing member being arranged inside the housing to separate the interior of the housing into a first chamber and a second chamber, which are distinct, the first chamber being configured to receive all or part of the plurality of granular elements at least in a reserve zone and the second chamber being closed by the door in its closed position and being opened by the door in its open position,

[0022] - a drain chute mounted on the outside of the fixed part of the housing, preferably on the side of the second chamber, by at least one mounting element,

[0023] the distribution assembly is characterized in that the discharge chute is configured to be positionable in an intermediate discharge position, in which the discharge chute is configured to allow the flow of all or part of the plurality of granular elements initially present in the reserve zone towards a buffer zone of the discharge chute and to allow the storage of these granular elements in the buffer zone without the latter flowing directly out of the discharge chute, the buffer zone having a buffer height lower than the reserve height.

[0024] The invention also relates to a sowing element comprising at least one hopper arranged to contain a plurality of granular elements and being connected by conduction means to said distribution assembly, characterized in that the distribution assembly is according to the invention.

[0025] The invention also relates to a seed drill comprising at least one chassis on which is mounted at least one sowing element, characterized in that the at least one sowing element is according to the invention.

[0026] The invention also relates to a method for emptying a distribution assembly for a seed drill comprising a plurality of granular elements at least in the reserve zone, characterized in that the distribution assembly is according to the invention and in that the method comprises at least:

[0027] - a step of preparation for emptying, during which the emptying chute is po located in an intermediate emptying position, in which the emptying chute allows the flow of all or part of the plurality of granular elements initially present in the reserve zone towards the buffer zone of the emptying chute and allows the storage of these granular elements in the buffer zone without the latter flowing directly out of the emptying chute, the buffer zone having a buffer height lower than the reserve height.

[0028] The invention will be better understood from the following description, which relates to several preferred embodiments, given as non-limiting examples, and explained with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:

[0032] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] represents a side view of the distribution assembly of the [Fig.3],

[0038] [Fig. 10] [Fig. 10] represents a bottom view of the drain chute illustrated in [Fig.7].

[0039] A distribution assembly for a seeder comprises at least:

[0040] - a sealed housing 1 comprising at least one fixed part 2 and a movable door 3 between an open position and a closed position,

[0041] - a distribution member for a plurality of granular elements arranged for distribute in a discrete and singular manner a plurality of granular elements,

[0042] the distribution member being arranged inside the housing 1 to separate the interior of the housing 1 into a first chamber 5 and a second chamber, which are distinct, the first chamber 5 being configured to receive all or part of the plurality of granular elements at least in a reserve zone 7 and the second chamber being closed by the door 3 in its closed position and being opened by the door 3 in its open position,

[0043] - a drain chute 8 mounted on the outside of the fixed part 2 of the housing 1, preferably on the side of the second chamber, by at least one mounting element 9.

[0044] According to the invention, the distribution assembly is characterized in that the emptying chute 8 is configured to be positionable in an intermediate emptying position PI, in which the emptying chute 8 is configured to allow the flow of all or part of the plurality of granular elements initially present in the reserve zone 7 towards a buffer zone 10 of the emptying chute 8 and to allow the storage of these granular elements in the buffer zone 10 without the latter flowing directly out of the emptying chute 8, the buffer zone 10 having a buffer height lower than the reserve height.

[0045] Advantageously, in the intermediate emptying position PI of the emptying chute 8, the latter is in a position in which the buffer zone 10 is designed so that the remaining granular elements, for example seeds, from the reserve zone 7 flow out, without it flowing directly out of the emptying chute 8 and therefore downwards and potentially to the ground. In this intermediate emptying position PI, the operator is for example able to carry out preparations before the emptying operation such as placing a container nearby or in the correct position before positioning the emptying chute 8 in a flow position P2 as described below. This configuration makes it possible to prepare the emptying so that it can then take place under the best conditions.

[0046] Preferably, at least in the intermediate emptying position PI, the emptying chute 8 is mounted removably from the fixed part 2 of the housing 1 by the at least one mounting element 9 preferably operable with one hand so as to be detachable from the fixed part 2 of the housing 1.

[0047] Advantageously, in this configuration it is possible to detach the emptying chute 8 from the housing 1, then to pour the contents of the emptying chute 8 into the hopper or into another container. The provision of a container for emptying is therefore not necessary in this case. Furthermore, it is therefore also not necessary in this configuration to move into the flow position P2 described below to carry out the emptying operation.

[0048] Preferably, the discharge chute 8 is positionable in a flow position P2, configured to allow the flow, towards a discharge zone 11 of lower discharge height relative to the buffer height, of all or part of the plurality of granular elements initially present in the reserve zone 7 or the buffer zone 10, the discharge zone 11 being located outside the discharge chute 8.

[0049] Advantageously, in this position, the discharge chute 8 allows the flow of the granular elements initially contained in the reserve zone 7 or the buffer zone 10 towards the discharge zone 11 located below. A container can be placed at the level of the discharge zone 11 to collect said granular elements.

[0050] Preferably, in the intermediate emptying position PI the emptying chute 8 is horizontal or inclined at an intermediate angle of inclination preventing the flow of granular element(s) out of the emptying chute 8.

[0051] Preferably, in the flow position P2 the discharge chute 8 is inclined at a so-called flow angle of inclination allowing the flow of granular element(s) which is greater than the so-called intermediate angle of inclination.

[0052] Advantageously, depending on the value of the angle of inclination, the discharge chute 8 is either in the intermediate discharge position PI or in the flow position P2. In the flow position P2, the flow angle of inclination is greater than the so-called intermediate angle of inclination in the intermediate discharge position PI since a sufficient inclination is necessary to form an inclined plane which allows the granular elements to slide in the discharge chute 8 towards the discharge zone 11 located below.

[0053] Preferably, the drain chute 8 comprises a first part 12 and a second part 14 comprising a second free end 15 of the drain chute 8, the second part 14 has a geometry arranged to prevent flow outside the drain chute 8 in the intermediate drain position PI.

[0054] Thanks to this configuration, the granular elements remain in the discharge chute 8 in the buffer zone 10 in the intermediate discharge position PI.

[0055] Preferably, the bottom 16 of the first part 12 of the drain chute 8 is flat and the bottom 16' of the second part 14 is inclined upwards relative to the bottom 16 of the first part 12.

[0056] Advantageously, in the intermediate emptying position PI, the granular elements are prevented from sliding downwards due to the existence in the second part 14 of the upwardly inclined plane. This configuration also makes it possible to avoid overflow in the case of maximum filling.

[0057] Preferably, the first end 13 of the drain chute 8 is configured to be mounted on the fixed part 2 of the housing 1 by the at least one mounting element 9 preferably operable with one hand.

[0058] Advantageously, the emptying chute 8 can be mounted or dismounted from the fixed part 2 by the mounting element 9. Thus the emptying chute 8 is completely dismountable and can be detached either after emptying in the intermediate emptying position PI, or for storage. In the first case, it is possible to take the emptying chute 8 for example by hand and empty its contents at the desired location. In the second case, the emptying chute 8 is dismounted and stored outside the distribution assembly when it is not in use. It is for example possible to fix it on another component of the sowing element, such as on one of the walls of the hopper, inside the cover of the hopper or even on the frame of the sowing element.

[0059] If the mounting element 9 can be operated with one hand, then this results in better ergonomics, since the operator can use one hand to unhook the discharge chute 8 and the other hand to hold a container or open the hopper to pour the granular elements into it.

[0060] Preferably, the second part 14 has a cross-section narrowing towards the second end 15.

[0061] Advantageously, the second part 14 narrows towards the second free end 15 to facilitate the guiding and flow of the granular elements towards the discharge zone 11 and towards a possible container such as a bag or a bucket located in this discharge zone 11.

[0062] Preferably, the drain chute 8 is positionable in a folded position P3, in which it is configured to be arranged folded against the door 3 in its closed position.

[0063] Advantageously, in this alternative configuration to disassembly, the drain chute 8 is folded against the movable door 3 when it is not in use. This avoids having to disassemble the drain chute 8 to allow it to be stored. The drain chute 8 is stored on the distribution assembly.

[0064] Preferably, the drain chute 8 is mounted to be movable, preferably in rotation, by the at least one mounting element 9, preferably operable with one hand to be positionable in the intermediate drain position PI, in the flow position P2 and between said positions without requiring the drain chute 8 to be detached from the fixed part 2 of the housing 1.

[0065] Preferably, the drain chute 8 is mounted to be movable, preferably in rotation, by the at least one mounting element 9, preferably operable with one hand to be positionable in the intermediate drain position PI, in the position flow P2 and in a folded position P3 and between said positions without requiring detachment of the drain chute 8 from the fixed part 2 of the housing 1.

[0066] Advantageously, in these configurations the drain chute 8 pivots relative to the fixed part 2 to move into the different positions without requiring the drain chute 8 to be detached from the fixed part 2 of the housing 1 to move from one position to another.

[0067] The housing 1 comprises the fixed part 2 and the door 3 which is movable relative to the fixed part 2 and allows the housing 1 to be opened or closed.

[0068] The dispensing member which is not shown preferably usually comprises a perforated dispensing disc driven in rotation preferably by a motor. The dispensing disc separates the housing into two chambers, the first chamber 5 and the second chamber, in which the air pressures are different.

[0069] The reserve zone 7 is located in the first chamber 5. It can contain a certain quantity of granular elements coming from the hopper which must be emptied and can be emptied thanks to the emptying chute 8. The reserve zone 7 is located at the bottom of the fixed part 2 of the housing 1.

[0070] The drain chute 8 may be in the form of an open conduit, for example in the form of a gutter as illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5 and 7 to 10.

[0071] The drain chute 8 preferably comprises two side walls 17 joined by the bottom 16, 16' and has a substantially U-shaped section.

[0072] The drain chute 8 is mounted on the housing 1 at the level of the fixed part 2. It preferably consists of an attached part which can be removed in a removable manner using one or more mounting elements 9.

[0073] The function of the mounting element(s) 9 is to enable the drain chute 8 to be fixed to the fixed part 2. Furthermore, this or these mounting element(s) 9 may enable the drain chute 8 to be mounted and dismounted in a reversible manner so that it can be detached from the fixed part 2. Furthermore, this or these mounting element(s) 9 may also enable the drain chute 8 to rotate relative to the fixed part 2 in and between said positions P1, P2, P3. This or these mounting element(s) 9 are preferably arranged on the fixed part 2 on the one hand and on the drain chute 8 on the other hand.

[0074] The mounting element(s) 9 may comprise a pair of pins 19 mounted on the fixed part 2 by fixing means 20 and a pair of slots or openings or slides 18 located at the first end 13 in which the pair of pins 19 engages when the drain chute 8 is mounted on the fixed part 2.

[0075] Preferably, the pair of slots or openings or slides 18 is provided on the side walls 17 at the first end 13. The slides 18 allow the drain chute 8 to be easily mounted / dismounted.

[0076] The buffer zone 10 is preferably located inside the emptying chute 8 in the intermediate emptying position PL. Its function is to allow the storage of the granular elements in the intermediate emptying position PL.

[0077] The discharge zone 11 is located outside the discharge chute 8. The discharge zone 11 is below the buffer zone 10. The discharge zone 11 may be at ground level or at the level of a container such as a bag, bucket, etc. for example.

[0078] The second end 15 of the discharge chute 8 is open and forms an outlet 21 from which granular elements can flow, unlike the first end 13 which is closed by a wall 22 which laterally connects the two side walls 17.

[0079] The discharge chute 8 is dimensioned so that the maximum volume of granular elements of a distribution can approximately be stored in the discharge chute 8 in the intermediate discharge position PL

[0080] The drain chute 8 may comprise an elbow (not shown) to orient the second end 15 towards the front or towards the rear depending on the orientation of the distribution.

[0081] Figures 1 and 2 show the distribution assembly comprising the discharge chute 8 in the intermediate discharge position PL. The housing 1 is devoid of the door 3. In the fixed part 2 of the housing 1, the first chamber 5 can contain in the reserve zone 7 all or part of the plurality of granular elements, which are not shown. The discharge chute 8 is arranged under the reserve zone 7 and can collect the granular elements coming from the reserve zone 7 in the buffer zone 10. The storage of these granular elements in the buffer zone 10 is done without the latter flowing directly out of the discharge chute 8. In this example, the discharge chute 8 is horizontal in the intermediate discharge position PI which prevents the flow of granular elements towards the discharge zone 11 which is located below. In fact, the bottom 16 of the first part 12 is horizontal and the bottom 16' of the second part 14 is inclined upwards.

[0082] Figures 3 and 4 show the distribution assembly comprising the discharge chute 8 in the flow position P2. In this example, the discharge chute 8 is inclined towards the discharge zone 11 in the flow position P2, which allows the flow of granular elements towards the discharge zone 11. Indeed, the bottom 16 of the first part 12 and the bottom 16' of the second part are inclined downwards. The second free end 15 is oriented downwards.

[0083] [Fig.5] shows the distribution assembly comprising the drain chute 8 in the folded position P3. In this example the housing 1 comprises the fixed part 2 closed by the door 3. The drain chute 8 is arranged against the door 3. The second free end 15 is oriented upwards. The side walls 17 are in look at door 3.

[0084] [Fig.6] shows the distribution assembly without the drain chute 8. In this example the housing 1 comprises the fixed part 2 closed by the door 3. The fixed part 2 comprises the fixing means 20 allowing the mounting of a pair of pins 19. The fixing means 20 are in the form of two protruding plates of the fixed part 2 in a lower part located under the reserve zone 7 which is not visible.

[0085] Figures 7 to 10 illustrate the drain chute 8 illustrated in Figures 1 to 5 according to the invention. The drain chute 8 is an added part and separate from the housing 1. In this example, the drain chute 8 comprises the first part 12 comprising the first end 13 and the second part 14 comprising the second end 15. The drain chute 8 comprises two side walls 17 joined by the bottom 16, 16' and has a substantially U-shaped section. The first end 13 is closed by the wall 22 which laterally connects the two side walls 17. Furthermore, the bottom 16 of the first part 12 of the drain chute 8 is flat and the bottom 16' of the second part 14 is inclined upwards relative to the bottom 16 of the first part 12. The first part 12 has a cross section widening towards the second part 14.The second part 14 has a cross-section narrowing towards the second end 15. A pair of slides 18 is provided on the side walls 17 at the first end 13. The second end 15 of the discharge chute 8 is open and forms the outlet 21.

[0086] The invention also relates to a sowing element which is not shown comprising at least one hopper arranged to contain a plurality of granular elements and being connected by conduction means to said distribution assembly, characterized in that the distribution assembly is according to the invention described.

[0087] The invention also relates to a seed drill which is not shown comprising at least one chassis on which is mounted at least one sowing element, characterized in that the at least one sowing element is according to the invention described.

[0088] The invention also relates to a method for emptying a distribution assembly for a seed drill comprising a plurality of granular elements at least in the reserve zone 7, characterized in that the distribution assembly is according to the invention and in that the method comprises at least:

[0089] - a step of preparation for emptying, during which the emptying chute 8 is positioned in the intermediate emptying position PI, in which the emptying chute 8 allows the flow of all or part of the plurality of granular elements initially present in the reserve zone 7 towards the buffer zone 10 of the emptying chute 8 and allows the storage of these granular elements in the buffer zone 10 without the latter flowing directly out of the drain chute 8, the buffer zone 10 having a buffer height lower than the reserve height.

[0090] Advantageously, thanks to the method according to the invention, during the emptying preparation step the granular elements are stored in the buffer zone 10 without them flowing directly out of the emptying chute 8 and therefore downwards and potentially to the ground. The emptying step can then take place under the best conditions.

[0091] Indeed, then during the emptying step, the emptying chute 8 is either detached so as to empty the contents into a container or into the hopper, or the emptying chute 8 is positioned in the flow position P2 and the granular elements initially contained in the reserve zone 7 or the buffer zone 10 flow towards the discharge zone 11 located below.

[0092] Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown in the attached drawings. Modifications remain possible, in particular from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
