Demands
1. Single jaw: After the failure of the lock, I found that each moving part represents a potential weakness, so my invention has only one moving part! [Fig 5] This gives it increased strength and reliability.
2. An off-center pivot point: [Fig 6] The hammer-shaped moving element of my design pivots around an off-center point, allowing it to close mechanically when the boat's chainplate pulls on it. The stronger the opposing pull, the greater the closing force of the system!
3. A funnel-shaped entry: To guide the padlock in case of slight deviation. This therefore requires less precision than the lock which did not allow much room for maneuver.
4. A powerful spring: This spring keeps the system constantly closed, preventing it from opening in case of impact or a pothole. It ensures the jaw folds back after the boat's chainplate pushes it into the mechanism, thus locking the boat onto the trailer.
5. Less than 2.5 cm thick: My attachment system had to be as thin as possible to allow room for a standard hitch safety device, such as a cable and carabiner. It should also be noted that its thinness makes it lighter.
6. A unique quick-release system: To my knowledge, there is no equivalent to this quick-release system. I have never been able to find similar equipment online, in stores, or in garages.
7. A system entirely made of 316 stainless steel: The choice of 316 stainless steel* gives my invention increased strength and reliability, moreover being completely stainless this makes the Ludox usable with salt water, naturally more corrosive.
8. A dual purpose for the moving part: Indeed, the hammer-shaped moving part serves both to lock the system and as an opening handle. [Fig. 1] [Fig. 2] [Fig. 4] [Fig. 5] [Fig. 71]
