Description

Title of the invention: MOTOR VEHICLE WITH DYNAMIC LOOP OF PROTECTED WHEEL HUB CABLE HARNESS

[0001] The present invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising a dynamic loop of cable harness connected to a wheel hub carrier, equipped with a protection.

[0002] Motor vehicles generally include on their electrical wiring harnesses dynamic loops connecting two points exhibiting relative movements to allow the movement of one element relative to the other.

[0003] A known type of protection for a dynamic loop, described in particular by document WO-A1-2023144930, comprises a rigid protective cover made of resin, fixed to the control inverter of an electric machine in the powertrain of a vehicle, which covers the dynamic loop entry of the power cable harness supplying this inverter. The dynamic loop allows the cables to follow the movements of the powertrain mounted on elastic mounts to prevent the transmission of noise.

[0004] Another known type of dynamic loop of electrical cable harness connects a starting point fixed to the vehicle body to a wheel hub carrier held by suspensions having a travel, including cables connected in particular to a wheel rotation speed sensor or to brake wear indicators.

[0005] Furthermore, the underside of the vehicle generally includes flat body underbody panels which improve aerodynamics, and on each side of the vehicle, stop before the hub carrier, leaving a free space to allow its movements given by the suspension.

[0006] In particular, the range of motion of a hub carrier can necessitate the formation of a sufficiently long dynamic loop to avoid excessive bending stresses on the cables. In some cases, this results in a dynamic loop with a lower curvature extending quite low, especially when the suspension is fully extended, reaching approximately the level of the body's underbody.

[0007] However, it is not always possible to place a rigid protective cover on this type of dynamic loop, particularly under a lower curvature, because of space constraints.

[0008] There is then a risk of external elements catching on the dynamic loop. In particular, when driving on paths with overhanging branches. At height, with significant suspension travel due to rough terrain, for example with an off-road vehicle, there is a risk of the dynamic loop being snagged by branches that slide along the underbody and then spring back up into the open space, catching on the lower curve of the loop positioned at the height of the underbody. This can result in cable breakage and the loss of certain vehicle functions.

[0009] The present invention aims in particular to avoid these problems of the prior art.

[0010] To this end, it proposes a motor vehicle comprising a wheel hub carrier receiving a wiring harness via a dynamic loop having a lower curvature which, in its lower position, is located at the level of a flat underbody of the vehicle body, and comprising, along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle between a rear edge of the underbody and the lower curvature of the dynamic loop, a free space for accessing fasteners, this vehicle being remarkable in that it comprises a horizontal protective blade having a cutting edge turned towards the front of the vehicle, which is located substantially at the level of the underbody, in front of the lower curvature of the dynamic loop and facing the free space.

[0011] One advantage of this motor vehicle is that, during driving, if a branch slides under the undercarriage when pressed, and then extends upwards past its rear edge, it then reaches the cutting blade, which cuts it. This prevents the upper part of the branch from extending upwards just before the dynamic loop, potentially catching and damaging it.

[0012] By adding a protective blade to each side of the vehicle, forming an inexpensive element, a safety measure is thus obtained which prevents cable breakage and loss of function, particularly for off-road vehicles.

[0013] The motor vehicle, according to the invention, may also include one or more of the following characteristics, which may be combined with each other.

[0014] Advantageously, the vehicle includes a deflector forming a plate located behind the underbody and substantially at its level.

[0015] In this case, the protective blade can be fixed onto the deflector.

[0016] Moreover, advantageously the protective blade is formed by a sheet metal.

[0017] Advantageously, the protective blade is substantially at the height of the lowest position of the lower dynamic loop curvature.

[0018] In particular, the free space can provide access to the fixings of a mudguard positioned above a wheel supported by the hub carrier.

[0019] In particular, the hub carrier can support a rear wheel of the vehicle.

[0020] The invention will be better understood, and other features and advantages will become more apparent upon reading the following description given by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

[0021] [Fig-1] is a view of a rear part of a vehicle according to the invention showing the hub carrier;

[0022] [Fig.2] is a bottom view of this rear part;

[0023] [Fig.3] is a vertical cross-sectional diagram at the level of the free space along a plane of longitudinal section, showing the passage of a branch; and

[0024] [Fig.4] is a vertical cross-sectional diagram at the level of the free space along a plane cross-section.

[0025] Throughout the document the front longitudinal direction AV is relative to the direction of travel of the vehicle, the transverse direction being perpendicular to this longitudinal direction.

[0026] Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4 show a hub carrier 2 connected to the vehicle body by suspension arms 4, equipped with a shock absorber 8, receiving a rear wheel of the vehicle 16 comprising a transverse axis of rotation A, which is arranged in a rear wing having an inner mudguard 6. A flexible brake line 10 has a dynamic loop having an upper curvature facing upwards to connect a fixed point of the body to the hub carrier 2.

[0027] An electrical cable harness 12 includes a dynamic loop arranged in a transverse plane located in front of the hub carrier 2, comprising a lower downward curvature 14 which, during the complete relaxation of the suspension, descends to its lowest level relative to the vehicle body.

[0028] The vehicle's passenger compartment includes a flat floor forming the underbody 20 at the lower level of the body, then a rear deflector 22 protecting the rear axle and improving the aerodynamics of the vehicle, formed by a sheet metal arranged substantially in the plane of this lower level, which has, along the transverse direction on each side, a rising edge 36 including at the end a screw 38 for fixing under the body of the vehicle.

[0029] With the suspension fully extended, shown [Fig.4], the lower beam curvature 14 is located substantially at the level of the floor 20 and the deflector 22.

[0030] A free space 34 for access from below to the mudguard fixings 6 for fixing it in the wing, is left open in the longitudinal direction between the rear edge 32 of the floor 20 and the cable bundle 12, and in the transverse direction outside the rising edge 36 of the deflector 22. The free space 34 is just in front of the lower curve of the dynamic loop 14.

[0031] In the case of a protective cover added under the dynamic loop curvature 14, to protect it from attacks coming from below, it should be positioned sufficiently The lower position is designed so that, in its lowest position, the loop does not bear on it, thus preventing wear. In this case, the ground clearance under the vehicle would be reduced.

[0032] A horizontal blade 24 having a cutting edge turned towards the front, is disposed substantially at the level of the floor 20, after the free space 34 and in front of the lower curve of the dynamic loop 14. The cutting blade 24, disposed substantially at the lowest possible level of the curve of the dynamic loop 14, is formed by a rigid sheet fixed to the deflector 22 which extends outwards its lower plane, so as to cover in the transverse direction this curve of the loop.

[0033] The [Fig.3] shows, during the vehicle's travel on a path, a branch 30 turned towards the rear, which in position A, for example when the vehicle sinks into a hollow, comes to rest by sliding under the floor 20, with a flexion.

[0034] In position B, the advance of the vehicle causes the branch 30 to tilt and straighten in the free space 34.

[0035] In position C, the branch 30 has bumped against the cutting blade 24 arranged behind the free space 34, which cuts this branch leaving a shortened part which can no longer reach the lower curve of the dynamic loop 14.

[0036] A simple protection is achieved, with an addition including the economical addition of a sheet metal on each side, for the cable bundle 12 arriving on a hub carrier 2.
