Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Roller shutter box partially insertable between the uprights of a bay window
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of building renovation, particularly roller shutter boxes for such renovations. In particular, the invention relates to a roller shutter box that can be partially inserted between the uprights of a window or door opening and a method for manufacturing such a box.
[0002] As part of the renovation of a building, it is common to replace the windows and associated shutters.
[0003] In some cases, the frame of the old window cannot be removed without difficulty. The frame of the new window is then installed on top of the frame of the old window.
[0004] When a roller shutter box is installed during a renovation, it is common practice to use a renovation wing or an added cover to conceal the old window frame. It is also common to install a box with corner brackets to minimize the visible space between the window frame and the box, primarily for aesthetic reasons. However, creating these corner brackets is complex.
[0005] In particular, the dimensions of the old door frames vary greatly. Therefore, the corner chests available are not always perfectly suited, or even suitable at all.
[0006] One object of the invention is to offer a roller shutter box with corner fitting suitable for adapting to a wide range of bays.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a roller shutter box partially insertable between the uprights of a window opening, said box comprising an elongated hollow body and end closure plates, said body being delimited by a top slat, a bottom slat, a front slat and a rear slat, said box having at each end a corner forming an angle, one of the longitudinal facets of which is intended to support the box against an upright in the partially inserted state of the box between said uprights, and the other transverse facet of which is formed at least partially by one of the closure plates, referred to as the first closure plate, characterized in that the box has, at each end of the box, a second closure plate to at least partially close the part of the end of the box disposed outside the corner, and in that the box comprises, at each end,a partition element that can be positioned inside the safe to isolate the corner from at least part of the inside of the safe, this partition element including at least one locking mechanism, configured to cooperate with a complementary locking device fitted to the first closing plate for snap-fit coupling of the first closing plate and the partition element.
[0008] The design of the box allows for easy adaptation to the opening by cutting the slats to create the corner recess, while ensuring a good seal thanks to the partition element without compromising the aesthetics of the box. The coupling of the partition element and the first closing plate ensures secure positioning of the partition element using the first closing plate. The partition element isolates the portion of the box's interior extending on one side of the partition element from the corner recess extending on the other side of the partition element.
[0009] The positioning of the partition element is done by snapping it into place, making it simple to implement.
[0010] The first and second plates can be made by cutting from a single closing plate. Thus, the dimensions of the two corner pieces can be perfectly adapted to the opening while ensuring a perfect match between the dimensions of the first and second plates. The first and second plates can be cut during the corner construction process.
[0011] According to one embodiment of the invention, the partition element comprises a base plate with an outer face turned towards the first and second closing plates, and one or more of the locking members of the partition element is a tab extending projecting from the outer face of the base plate. The partition element acts as a closing element for the end of the chest below the corner.
[0012] According to one embodiment of the invention, said at least one leg includes an entry guide configured to deform the leg when mounting the partition element on the first closing plate.
[0013] According to one embodiment of the invention, said at least one locking member of the partition element comprises at least one hollow part and the complementary locking member of the first plate comprises at least one protruding part inserted into said hollow of the locking member.
[0014] According to one embodiment of the invention, the partition element includes a peripheral seal surrounding the partition element, and the seal is supported on an inner face of the top slat, on an inner face of the bottom slat, on an inner face of the front slat and / or on an inner face of the rear slat.
[0015] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first plate and / or the second plate is fixed, in particular by one or more screws, on at least one of the top blade, the bottom blade, the front blade and the rear blade.
[0016] According to one embodiment of the invention, the partition element is fixed, in particular by one or more screws, on at least one of the top slat, the bottom slat, the front slat and the rear slat.
[0017] According to one embodiment of the invention, the partition element, the first plate, the second plate, the top blade, the bottom blade, the front blade and the rear blade define a cavity accessible from the outside at the level of one of the corner sections.
[0018] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first plate extends in a first plane, the second plate extends in a second plane, the first plane and the second plane being parallel and spaced apart from each other.
[0019] The invention also relates to a method for installing a box between the uprights of a bay window, said box comprising an elongated hollow body and closing plates for the ends of the body, said body being delimited by a top slat, a bottom slat, a front slat and a rear slat, the method comprising the following steps: a) cut each end of the chest to form a corner, b) divide, at each end of the body, the closing plate into a first and a second closing plate; c) fix the first closing plate to at least one of the top blade, bottom blade, front blade and rear blade; d) couple by snapping the first closing plate and a partition element, this partition element being configured so that, in the positioned state of said partition element inside the box, it isolates the corner from at least a part of the inside of the box.
[0020] The part of the interior of the chest isolated from the corner by the partition element extends on one side of the partition element, the corner extending on the opposite side of the partition element.
[0021] Indeed, according to one embodiment of the invention, after step d) the chest extends along a longitudinal axis, and, during an additional step, the partition element is inserted into the cavity of the chest by a translation along the longitudinal axis of the body of the chest.
[0022] According to one embodiment of the invention, the method includes a step of inserting the partition element into the cavity of the chest by a translation along a longitudinal axis.
[0023] According to one embodiment of the invention, steps a) and b) are simultaneous.
[0024] According to one embodiment, step d) is carried out before step c).
[0025] According to one embodiment, step c) is carried out before step d). Brief description of the drawings

[0035] In the following description, identical elements or elements with identical functions bear the same reference numeral. For the sake of brevity, they are not described opposite each figure; only the differences between the embodiments are described.
[0036] In the figures, the actual proportions have not always been respected, for the sake of clarity.
[0037] Figures 1 to 5 illustrate an example of a chest 1 according to the invention.
[0038] Chest 1 is partially insertable into bay B of a building. As As illustrated in [Fig. 3], bay B has a frame on each side of the opening. Each frame has a width Ca that can vary. Similarly, this frame can incorporate a fixed element whose characteristics can vary. The roller shutter box 1 must be capable of accommodating these dimensional variations.
[0039] The chest 1 is formed by a top blade 2, a bottom blade 3, a front blade 4 and a rear blade 5 delimiting an elongated hollow body along a longitudinal axis XX'.
[0040] At least one of the blades can be obtained by extrusion, in particular from polyvinyl chloride or aluminum. At least one of the blades can be honeycomb.
[0041] The chest 1 has two ends 10 opposite each other. Each end 10 of the chest 1 is generally shaped by a cutout to provide a recess 11 intended to partially fit a jamb of the opening B when the chest 1 is inserted, generally from inside the structure, into the opening. This recess 11 must be adapted to the dimensions of the jamb.
[0042] Ideally, the corner cut 11 is made with the end of the box closed by a closing plate, such that the closing plate is separated into a first and a second closing plate parallel to the cut of the corner 11. Alternatively, the corner 11 can be made independently of the cutting of the closing plate, but this solution is not preferred. The cut of the end of the box for making a corner 11 includes a cut along the longitudinal axis XX' of the box body and a cut in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis XX' of the box body. These cuts are active on the rear slat 5, the bottom slat, and the top slat. The resulting corner 11 forms a right angle whose dimensions are adapted to the frame of the opening B to partially fit said frame.
[0043] More specifically, the corners 11 have a transverse face 13 at a distance Da from an outer face of the rear blade 5 substantially equal to the distance Ca. In addition, the corners 11 have a longitudinal face 12 parallel to the rear blade 5 of length Lb substantially equal to the length Cb taken in the direction of the depth of the opening of the bay B to be concealed by the box 1.
[0044] When the chest 1 is inserted into the bay B, the longitudinal panel 12 rests on the upright of the bay B. The closing plate cut parallel to the shape of the corner 11 or not is separated into a first closing plate 15 and a second closing plate 16.
[0045] At each end 10 of the chest 1, the first closing plate 15 forms at least part of the transverse face 13, and the second closing plate 16 closes at least partially a part 17 of the end 10 of the chest 1 arranged outside the corner 11. Indeed, the first closing plate 15 forms the part of the end of the chest cut along a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis XX' of the body of the chest 1 and thus forms the transverse plane 13 of the corner 11. The longitudinal plane 12 of the corner 11 forms, for its part, a solid surface.
[0046] The first closing plate 15 and / or the second closing plate 16 are for example made of polyvinyl chloride or aluminum.
[0047] The first plate 15 and the second plate 16 each extend in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis XX'. The plane of extension of the first plate 15 and the plane of extension of the second plate 16 are spaced apart by a length equal to the length Lb of the corner 11.
[0048] The edge of each end 10 of the box 1 thus has a contour similar to the contour of the bay B opposite the corresponding end 10. The box 1 therefore fits perfectly into the dimensions of the bay B, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing assembly.
[0049] In the illustrated example, the first plate 15 is fixed, in particular by one or more screws, on the top blade 2, on the bottom blade 3 and on the rear blade 5. The second plate 16 is fixed, in particular by one or more screws, on at least the top blade 2 and on the bottom blade 3.
[0050] The box 1 also includes a partition element 20, which can also be described as a plug, at each end 10. The partition elements 20 allow, in particular, the corners 11 to be isolated from at least part of the interior of the box to form a "closed" cavity at the level of the interior of the box, i.e., a cavity that is watertight with respect to the exterior of the structure. This closed cavity can, in particular, house a roller shutter, a roller shutter winding axle, a motor, and various electronic components.
[0051] The partition elements 20 are in the form of a plate whose outer contour corresponds substantially to the inner contour formed by an inner face of the top blade 2, an inner face of the bottom blade 3, an inner face of the front blade 4 and an inner face of the rear blade 5.
[0052] Each partition element 20 can include a peripheral compression joint 21 with the inner face of the top blade 2, the inner face of the bottom blade 3, the inner face of the front blade 4 and the inner face of the rear blade 5.
[0053] The partition elements 20 may also include ribs 22 for stiffening them. The ribs 22 are, for example, arranged on an internal face 23 of the partition element 20.
[0054] As illustrated in [Fig.2], the partition element 20, the first plate 15, the second plate 16, the top blade 2, the bottom blade 3, the front blade 4 and the rear blade 5 define a cavity 25 accessible from the outside at the longitudinal pane 12, which is therefore open.
[0055] As illustrated in [Fig. 5], on an external face 26, each partition element 20 comprises a locking member 27 configured to cooperate with a member of additional locking 28 equipping the first corresponding plate 15 for snap-fit coupling of the first plate 15 and the partition element 20.
[0056] In this example, the locking member 27 includes a tab 30 extending outward from the outer face 26. The tab 30 can be split to form two elastically deformable tabs 31.
[0057] Each of the tabs 31 includes a recess 32 into which engages a protruding relief 33 of the complementary locking member 28 equipping the first plate 15 when the partition element 20 is coupled to the first plate 15.
[0058] Preferably, the shape of the hollows 32 is complementary to that of the protruding reliefs 33.
[0059] Each tab 31 may also include an entry guide 34, the function of which will be described later. Each entry guide 34 is formed by an inclined portion of the free end of the tab 31. These inclined portions of the free ends of the tabs converge towards each other in the direction of the free end of the tab. These convergent portions of the tabs tend to move closer together during interaction with the complementary locking member 28 equipping the first closing plate before elastically separating from each other to ensure locking of the tab with the complementary locking member.
[0060] Each partition element 20 is also fixed, in particular by one or more screws, on at least one of the top blade 2, the bottom blade 3, the front blade 4 and the rear blade 5.
[0061] An example of a method for installing a box 1 between the uprights of a bay B according to the invention is illustrated in figures 6 to 8.
[0062] First, the top blade 2, the bottom blade 3, and the rear blade 5 are assembled together to form part of the box 1. Two closing plates (not shown) are also provided. At this stage, these closing plates can be mounted on the box 1 so as to close the ends 10.
[0063] Each end 10 of the chest 1 is then cut to form the corners 11. This cutting step may be preceded by a step of measuring the dimensions of the uprights of the bay B.
[0064] The cutting can be carried out in the factory, based on the measured dimensions, or directly on site by the installer.
[0065] If the closing plates were mounted on the case 1 before cutting, they are cut at the same time as the blades to form the first plates 15 and the second plates 16. Since the closing plates were fixed to the blades during cutting, the first plates 15 and the second plates 16 thus obtained have dimensions perfectly adapted to the corners 11.
[0066] Alternatively, the closing plates can be cut separately from the blades. In this case, care must be taken to ensure that the cut is made in the correct location.
[0067] Next, each first plate 15 is fixed by snapping it onto a partition element 20, as illustrated in [Fig.6].
[0068] In particular, the first plate 15 is brought close to the partition element 20 until the locking member 27 comes into contact with the complementary locking member 28.
[0069] During this movement, the tabs 31 will deform elastically in the direction of a rapprochement thanks to the action of the entry guides 34.
[0070] The movement is continued until the protruding reliefs 33 engage in the hollows 32. This engagement is achieved partly through the elastic return of the tabs 31. At this stage, each partition element 20 is coupled by snapping it into a first plate 15.
[0071] Next, as illustrated in [Fig.7], the partition elements 20 and the corresponding first plate 15 are inserted into the cavity of the chest 1 by a translation along the longitudinal axis XX' of the chest 1 until the first plate 15 comes to rest against the blades.
[0072] A step of fixing the partition element 20 and the first plate 15, in particular using screws, on at least one of the blades can be carried out, as illustrated in [Fig.8].
[0073] Finally, the second closing plates 16 are positioned at the level of the parts 17 of the end 10 of the chest 1, then fixed, in particular by screwing, on at least one of the blades.
