Description

Title of the invention: Topical nail compositions, method of using a topical nail composition, method of accelerating or improving the drying time of a nail polish, and use A TOPICAL COMPOSITION FOR NAILS FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to topical nail compositions comprising (a) a mineral oil; (b) a volatile linear Cn-Cu hydrocarbon; and (c) a volatile alcohol. The invention also relates to a method of using a topical nail composition, a method of accelerating or improving the drying time of nail polish, and the use of a topical nail composition. CONTEXT OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Nail polishes are generally applied, in one or more coats, to the surface of a nail, and the solvent is allowed to evaporate to deposit a film on the nail. Immediately after application, the layers of nail polish are susceptible to damage due to friction and / or the adhesion of foreign matter. Therefore, it is advisable to dry these polishes quickly after application.

[0003] Consumers use nail polish to cosmetically improve the appearance of their nails (fingernails and / or toenails) or to protect nails from common external factors.

[0004] It is known that the drying rate can be optimized by selecting components based on their chemical nature and volatility. The components used in this optimization include those that are part of the composition of nail polish, in particular the solvent and possibly the thinner.

[0005] This optimization is limited by the composition of the nail polish, as overly volatile components can impair the quality of the resulting makeup effect. Volatile components can cause defects, such as the formation of lines on the polish layer, and those resulting from the rapid drying of the brush, which can appear during nail polish application. These defects result in an uneven, insufficiently smooth, dull, and unsatisfactory finish.

[0006] To accelerate the drying process of coatings, volatile compounds are generally used to facilitate film hardening. It is known from the prior art that the use of low viscosity silicone oils (less than 20 mPa.s) is These oils are suitable for obtaining a drying agent that exhibits good application properties. They diffuse quickly and evenly across the surface of the varnish film, effectively dry the varnish, and leave no residue on the varnish film.

[0007] However, although silicones, such as dimethicone, used in drying products can accelerate the drying process, it is desirable to obtain nail drying oil compositions that are free or substantially free of silicones and film-forming agents which, when applied to nail polish, show a desirable improvement in the drying time of the colored coating and do not affect important attributes, such as wear and shine.

[0008] Furthermore, an important property of nail polish is its ability to dry quickly once applied. This coating process is time-consuming because the application generally consists of two coats of nail polish, resulting in a total application time, with conventional compositions, of approximately 5 to 10 minutes. An objective of the present invention is therefore to provide nail-drying oil compositions which, when applied over nail polish, demonstrate a desirable improvement in the drying time of the colored coating.

[0009] Some prior art documents, such as WO 2010 / 115973, describe a volatile oily composition comprising, and preferably consisting of, a mixture of paraffins and optionally at least one non-volatile oil. However, the composition described in WO 2010 / 115973 is based on a specific mixture of linear paraffins in the C9, C10, C12, and C24 ranges.

[0010] Furthermore, US patent document 5,804,169 relates to a fast-drying agent for nail polish films. The present invention is a drying agent which, when applied to the surface of a nail polish layer, improves its drying rate. However, that document describes a silicone oil combined with a petroleum ether-type solvent.

[0011] Thus, the inventors of the present invention, surprisingly and unexpectedly, have overcome the drawbacks of the prior art and obtained topical nail compositions comprising (a) a mineral oil; (b) a linear volatile hydrocarbon in Cn-Ci3; and (c) a volatile alcohol, which provide a rapid drying process of a nail polish compared with compositions of the prior art.

[0012] The present invention aims to provide topical nail compositions that reduce the drying time of colored nail coatings (nail polishes) without compromising glossy coverage and appearance. Summary of the invention

[0013] The present invention relates to a topical nail composition, comprising (a) a mineral oil; (b) a volatile linear Cn-Cu hydrocarbon; and (c) a volatile alcohol, which remarkably reduces the drying time of nail polish without compromising glossy coverage. The invention also relates to a method of using a topical nail composition, a method of accelerating or improving the drying time of nail polish, and the use of a topical nail composition.

[0014] Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following more detailed description of desirable embodiments which illustrate, by way of example, the principles of the invention. Brief description of the drawings

[0091] - the first, an application of nail polish;

[0092] - the second, an application of nail polish, followed by the application of the topical composition for nails according to example 1; and,

[0093] - the third, an application of nail polish, followed by the application of the topical composition for nails according to example 2.

[0102] A first colored coating was applied to three nails, followed by a waiting period of one minute. Immediately afterwards, a second colored coating was applied to the three nails, also followed by a waiting period of one minute.

[0103] On one of the three nails, the adhesion and drying speed were evaluated for the nail polish, by touching the nail.

[0104] On each of the remaining nails, the topical nail compositions according to example 1 and example 2 were applied and the adhesion and drying speed were also evaluated by touching the nails.

[0105] The results of the adhesion and drying speed test are presented in the data of Figures 3 and 4. It can be observed that the topical nail compositions according to the present invention show a significant decrease in drying time compared to nail polish, as well as a significant decrease in film adhesion. Example 3C# - Blind self-application test

[0106] A blind self-application test was conducted with 18 volunteers to determine the preferred topical nail composition with respect to coloring time among (a) topical nail compositions according to Example 1 and Example 2 of the present invention, (b) the colored nail polish coating alone, and (c) a comparative composition Cl having the following list of ingredients on the packaging: Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Parfum, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl P-Cresol, Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Extract, and Tocopherol. Composition Cl is "Secante Express" by Risqué, described as "express-drying, which dries the colored nail polish coating in 50 seconds."

[0107] All formulas were subjected to the same application protocol and evaluation criteria at three different time intervals. The protocol consists of applying a first colored coating, followed by a waiting period of 1 minute, and applying a second colored coating, followed by applying a topical nail composition according to Example 1, Example 2, or CL.

[0108] After applying the second colored coating / nail polish or topical nail compositions, a waiting period of 50 seconds was observed, and the test was performed by touching and rubbing the applied nails. The test was performed a second time with a waiting period of 40 seconds after the application of the second colored coating or topical nail compositions.

[0109] Fig. 5 shows the appearance of topical nail compositions according to Example 1 and Example 2 of the present invention and the comparative composition Cl after the application protocol described above.

[0110] The results of the blind self-application test are shown in [Fig.6], on which it can be observed that the topical nail composition according to Example 1 of the present invention showed significantly less damage and staining (i.e., is dry).

[0111] Regarding the preferences of the volunteers among the topical nail compositions according to example 1 and example 2 of the present invention, nail polish or comparative composition Cl, it was observed that, in 40 s, all the volunteers preferred the topical nail compositions according to example 1 and example 2.

[0112] Based on the above examples, it is possible to conclude that the two topical nail compositions applied over the colored nail polish coating gave a final appearance similar to the nail polish.

[0113] Furthermore, there were no statistically significant differences between the nail lacquer and the topical nail composition according to Example 1 after application in this which relates to the glossy appearance. The topical nail composition according to example 2 showed more shine than the nail polish after application.

[0114] With regard to the dryness test, the two topical nail compositions of Example 1 and Example 2 statistically exhibited a faster drying rate and less adhesion than the nail polish.
