Description

Title of the invention: Arrangement for shaping filter media for fluid filtration tools, fluid filtration tools, fluid filtration tool kits, fluid filtration systems, and methods for preparing fluid filtration tools

[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of fluid filtration, and more particularly to an arrangement for shaping filter media for a fluid filtration tool, a fluid filtration tool, a kit for a fluid filtration tool, a fluid filtration system, and a method for preparing a fluid filtration tool.

[0002] Systems comprising one or more filters for filtering a fluid, for example air, have existed for many years. The most commonly used prior art filters comprise a frame, generally made of metal, a mesh, also generally made of metal, arranged within the frame, and a filter medium, for example polyester wadding, shaped accordion-style using the mesh to maximize the filtration surface area. Furthermore, to ensure the filtration efficiency of the systems, the filters must be changed regularly. In addition, existing filters are intended for complete disposal, which entails significant environmental and financial costs.

[0003] Consequently, prior art solutions still have drawbacks and improvements are possible. The present invention aims in particular to solve the problems indicated above by proposing an arrangement for shaping filter media for a fluid filtration tool, a fluid filtration tool, a kit for a fluid filtration tool, a fluid filtration system, and a method for preparing a fluid filtration tool.

[0004] Thus, the present invention relates to an arrangement for shaping filter media for a fluid filtration tool, characterized in that the arrangement comprises: a first grid having an accordion-shaped cross-section forming valleys and peaks, one side of the first grid comprising first elastic interlocking means; and a second grid having an accordion-shaped cross-section forming valleys and peaks, complementary to the cross-section of the first grid, one side of the second grid comprising complementary second elastic interlocking means formed corresponding to the first elastic interlocking means; the arrangement being further configured so as, in use, to allow engagement of the first and second elastic interlocking means with filter media disposed between the first grid and the second grid. in a way to fit the accordion-like cross-sections, without perforation of the filtering medium.

[0005] This configuration allows, in particular, for shaping the filter media to maximize the filtration surface area. Preferably, the first elastic interlocking means are in the form of nipples, and the second elastic interlocking means are in the form of teeth extending from the walls of the second grid so as to trap the nipples. It will be understood that the first and second elastic interlocking means could also take other complementary forms known to allow elastic interlocking between two elements. The first and second elastic interlocking means preferably have rounded external surfaces so as not to puncture the filter media during engagement. Furthermore, according to variations, the male and female elements can be partially or totally reversed between the first and second elastic interlocking means.

[0006] According to a particular embodiment, the first elastic interlocking means and the second elastic interlocking means are configured to allow a releasable engagement of the first grid and the second grid.

[0007] A releasable engagement of the first and second grids allows a user to remove used filter media and replace it with clean filter media, in particular to allow reuse of the arrangement and facilitate the recycling of the filter media. The used filter media is preferably recycled in order to reduce waste and environmental impact. Preferably, the arrangement is configured and sized to allow reuse for at least twenty-four filtration cycles.

[0008] According to a particular embodiment, the first elastic interlocking means are arranged at least some of the valleys and vertices of the first grid, and the second elastic interlocking means are arranged at least some of the valleys and vertices of the second grid.

[0009] According to less preferred variants, the first and second elastic interlocking means can be arranged, corresponding to each other, halfway between the valleys and the peaks of the first and second grids.

[0010] According to a particular embodiment, each means, among the first elastic interlocking means and the second elastic interlocking means, is one among formed locally and formed from one end to an opposite end of the arrangement.

[0011] When a means, among the first elastic interlocking means and the second elastic interlocking means, is formed locally, it extends transversely over only a few centimeters. Alternatively, a means, among the first elastic interlocking means and the second elastic interlocking means, can be formed transversely from one end to an opposite end of the arrangement.

[0012] According to a particular embodiment, the second grid is articulated to the first grid.

[0013] It will be understood that this configuration makes it easier for a user to manipulate the layout.

[0014] According to a particular embodiment, the first grid and the second grid are made of polymer, preferably polyamide or polyester.

[0015] The first grid and the second grid can, for example, be manufactured by molding.

[0016] According to less preferred variants, the first and second grids may be made of other materials, for example metal, such as galvanized steel or stainless steel. Preferably, the first and second grids are made of a water-resistant material to allow the assembly to be washed.

[0017] The present invention also relates to a fluid filtration tool, characterized in that it comprises: a rectangular frame, formed by assembling four profile sections; a rectangular arrangement according to the invention, received between the profile sections of the frame; and filter media sandwiched between the first grid and the second grid of the arrangement, so as to be accordion-shaped.

[0018] Preferably, the filtration tool is demountable to allow reuse and recycling of the filter media.

[0019] According to a particular embodiment, the filtration tool further comprises four fixing brackets, arranged in the corners of the frame so as to assemble the profile sections two by two together, at 90°, to form the frame.

[0020] This configuration allows for a straight cut at the longitudinal ends of the profile sections, which notably facilitates the manufacture of the frame. According to less preferred embodiments, the frame may include fixing brackets arranged in the profile sections so as to join them in pairs with a 45° cut between two adjacent profile sections. According to other embodiments, the profile sections may be joined by other means, for example by gluing, screwing, or riveting.

[0021] According to a particular embodiment, at least some of the profile sections and fixing brackets are made of polymer, preferably polyvinyl chloride or polyester.

[0022] Depending on variations, other materials may be used for the fixing brackets and / or profile sections, for example, metal, such as galvanized steel or stainless steel. Preferably, the fixing brackets and profile sections are made of a water-resistant material to allow for washing of the fluid filtration tool. The profile sections may, for example They can be manufactured by extrusion, and the fixing brackets can, for example, be manufactured by molding.

[0023] The present invention also relates to a kit for a fluid filtration tool according to the invention, characterized in that it comprises: four profile sections, configured to form a frame; two accordion-shaped cross-section grids comprising elastic interlocking means, configured to engage with each other and to be received between the profile sections of the frame; and filter media, configured to be disposed between the two grids.

[0024] A kit according to the invention allows for the assembly of a fluid filtration tool according to the invention.

[0025] The present invention further relates to a fluid filtration system, characterized in that it comprises a fluid circulation path, a fluid circulation device circulating fluid in the fluid circulation path and a fluid filtration zone removably receiving a fluid filtration tool according to the invention.

[0026] According to a particular embodiment, the system is one of an air conditioning system and an air purification system.

[0027] The present invention also relates to a method for preparing a fluid filtration tool according to the invention, characterized in that it comprises the steps of: providing a portion of the frame comprising three of the four profile sections assembled together; placing the clean filter media on the first grid, on the side comprising the first elastic interlocking means, so as to conform to the accordion cross-section; pressing the side of the second grid comprising the second elastic interlocking means against the filter media, and engaging the first and second elastic interlocking means so as to sandwich the filter media; placing the first grid, the second grid and the filter media between the three profile sections of the portion of the frame; and closing the frame with the fourth profile section to obtain a fluid filtration tool.

[0028] As stated above, in an arrangement according to the invention, the first and second elastic interlocking means are preferably configured to allow the first and second grids to be released, in particular to allow reuse of the arrangement and facilitate recycling of the filter media. In this case, the method advantageously comprises the preliminary steps of: opening the frame by dismantling a profile section; removing the arrangement and disengaging the first and second elastic interlocking means; and removing the used filter media.

[0029] We will now describe particular embodiments of the present invention, with reference to the attached drawings.

[0030] On these drawings:

[0032] [Fig.2] is a front perspective view of a fluid filtration tool according to a method of embodiment of the invention.

[0033] [Fig.3] is a front perspective view of a tool fixing bracket filtration of the [Fig.2].

[0034] [Fig.4] is a rear perspective view of a mounting bracket mounted on a section of the profile of the filtration tool of [Fig.2], the profile section is truncated.

[0035] [Fig. 5] is a front perspective view of a fixing bracket mounted on two profile sections of the filtration tool of [Fig.2], both profile sections are truncated.

[0036] If we refer first of all to [Fig. 1], we can see that an arrangement 1 is shown for shaping a filtering medium 12 for a fluid filtration tool 10 according to an embodiment of the invention, comprising a first grid 2 and a second grid 3.

[0037] The first grid 2 has an accordion cross-section forming valleys 21 and peaks 22. One side 2a of the first grid 2 includes first elastic interlocking means 23.

[0038] The second grid 3 has an accordion-shaped cross-section forming valleys 31 and peaks 32. The cross-section of the second grid 3 is complementary to the cross-section of the first grid 2. One side 3a of the second grid 3 includes second elastic interlocking means 33. The second elastic interlocking means 33 are complementary to and formed in correspondence with the first elastic interlocking means 23.

[0039] Furthermore, according to the invention, the arrangement 1 is configured to, in use, allow the first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33 to engage with the filter media 12 arranged between the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 so as to conform to the accordion cross-sections, without perforation of the filter media 12.

[0040] The filtering medium 12 is preferably in the form of a sheet, for example a sheet of polyester wadding, a sheet of fiberglass wadding or a sheet of polypropylene wadding.

[0041] In the embodiment shown in [Fig.1], the first elastic interlocking means 23 are arranged on one vertex 22 out of three of the first grid 2, and the second elastic interlocking means 33 are arranged, correspondingly, in one valley 31 out of three of the second grid 3.

[0042] It will be understood, however, that other configurations are possible, as an alternative, for the first and second means of elastic interlocking 23, 33.

[0043] According to variations, the first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33 can be arranged in a different sequence. For example, the first elastic interlocking means 23 can be arranged on one out of every two vertices 22 of the first grid 2, or on one out of every four vertices 22, or on each vertex 22. The second elastic interlocking means 33 are then arranged correspondingly, that is, in one out of every two valleys 31 of the second grid 3, or in one out of every four valleys 31, or in each valley 31, respectively.

[0044] According to other variants, the first elastic interlocking means 23 can be arranged in valleys 21 of the first grid 2, and the second elastic interlocking means 33 can be arranged, correspondingly, on vertices 32 of the second grid 3. Combinations are also possible, i.e. some first elastic interlocking means 23 can be arranged on vertices 22 of the first grid 2 and others in valleys 21 of the first grid 2, and some second elastic interlocking means 33 can be arranged, correspondingly, in valleys 31 of the second grid 3 and others on vertices 32 of the second grid 3.

[0045] According to other less preferred variants, the first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33 can be arranged, corresponding to each other, halfway between the valleys 21, 31 and the peaks 22, 32 of the first and second grids 2, 3.

[0046] In the embodiment shown in [Fig. 1], the first elastic interlocking means 23 comprise male elements and the second elastic interlocking means 33 comprise female elements. In particular, the first elastic interlocking means 23 are in the form of nipples, and the second elastic interlocking means 33 are in the form of teeth extending from the walls of the second grid 3 so as to trap the nipples. It will be understood that the first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33 could also take other complementary forms known to allow elastic interlocking between two elements. The first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33 preferably have rounded external surfaces so as not to puncture the filter medium 12 during engagement. Moreover, according to variants, the male and female elements can be partially or totally reversed between the first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33. For example, according to variants, all the first elastic interlocking means 23 may include female elements and all the second elastic interlocking means 33 may include male elements, or some first elastic interlocking means 23 and some second means. elastic interlocking means 33 may include female elements and other first means of elastic interlocking means 23 and other second means of elastic interlocking means 33 may include, in correspondence, male elements.

[0047] In the embodiment shown in [Fig. 1], each means, among the first elastic interlocking means 23 and the second elastic interlocking means 33, is formed locally, that is to say, it extends over only a few centimeters in a direction perpendicular to the cutting plane of [Fig. 1]. According to variants, each means, among the first elastic interlocking means 23 and the second elastic interlocking means 33, can be formed from one end to an opposite end of the arrangement, in the direction perpendicular to the cutting plane of [Fig. 1].

[0048] In the first embodiment shown in [Fig. 1], the first elastic interlocking means 23 and the second elastic interlocking means 33 are configured to allow a releasable engagement of the first grid 2 and the second grid 3. It will be understood that a releasable engagement of the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 allows a user to remove used filter media 12 and replace it with clean filter media 12, in particular to allow reuse of the arrangement 1 and facilitate the recycling of the filter media 12. The used filter media 12 is preferably recycled in order to reduce waste and environmental impact. The arrangement 1 according to the embodiment shown in [Fig. 1] is configured and dimensioned to allow reuse for at least twenty-four filtration cycles.

[0049] In the first embodiment shown in [Fig. 1], the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 are made of polymer, preferably polyamide or polyester. According to less preferred variants, the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 may be made of other materials, for example metal, such as galvanized steel or stainless steel. Preferably, the first and second grids 2 and 3 are made of a water-resistant material to allow washing of the arrangement 1.

[0050] Advantageously, the second grid 3 is articulated to the first grid 2, preferably by means of a hinge. When the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 are made of polymer, it will be understood that the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 can be formed as a single piece, for example by molding, the hinge being formed by a thinner portion configured to allow pivoting between the first grid 2 and the second grid 3.

[0051] The arrangement 1 according to the invention is preferably rectangular, such that the first and second grids 2, 3 are rectangular. However, depending on the requirements In use, arrangement 1 can, alternatively, have other forms, for example a circular shape.

[0052] The invention also relates to a fluid filtration tool 10.

[0053] If we now refer to [Fig.2], we can see that a fluid filtration tool 10 is represented there according to an embodiment of the invention, comprising a rectangular frame 11, a rectangular arrangement 1 according to the invention, and filtering media 12.

[0054] The rectangular frame 11 is formed by assembling four sections of profile lia, 11b.

[0055] The rectangular arrangement 1 is according to the invention, for example according to the embodiment shown in [Fig.1] and described above, and is received between the profile sections 11a, 11b of the frame 11.

[0056] The filtering media 12 is sandwiched between the first grid 2 and the second grid 3 of the arrangement 1, so as to be accordion-shaped.

[0057] Although in the embodiment shown in [Fig.2] the fluid filtration tool 10 is rectangular, it will be understood that, depending on the needs of use and as mentioned for arrangement 1 above, the fluid filtration tool 10 can, alternatively, have other shapes, for example a circular shape.

[0058] In the embodiment shown in [Fig. 2], the fluid filtration tool 10 further comprises four fixing brackets 11, arranged in the corners of the frame 11 so as to assemble the profile sections 1a, 11b two by two, at 90°, to form the frame 11. The fixing brackets 11 of the embodiment shown in [Fig. 2] allow a straight cut at the longitudinal ends of the profile sections 1a, 11b, which in particular facilitates the manufacture of the frame 11. According to less preferred variants, the frame 11 may comprise fixing brackets 11c arranged in the profile sections 1a, 11b so as to assemble them two by two with a 45° cut between two contiguous profile sections 1a, 11b. According to other variants, the lia, 11b profile sections can be assembled by other means, for example by gluing, screwing or riveting.

This configuration notably improves the connection between the fixing brackets 1le and the profile sections 1la, 11b. Preferably, the ends of the tabs 1ld and the additional tabs 1ld' are beveled to facilitate insertion into the recesses 11g and the additional recesses 11g'.

[0061] Each tongue 1ld further carries a releaseable locking means lie, for example a lug disposed on an elastic blade of the tongue 1ld, configured to cooperate in a releaseable manner with a through hole 1Ih formed correspondingly in the respective longitudinal end of the profile section lia, 11b and opening into the recess 11g, such that the fixing bracket 1le is releasably secured to the profile section 1la, 11b. Preferably, the releaseable locking means lie are configured to be operated manually by a user, so that the frame 11 can be assembled and disassembled without tools. It will be understood that, alternatively, the releaseable locking means lie and the through holes 1Ih could be replaced by other known elastic interlocking means for releasably joining two elements.

[0062] In the embodiment shown in Figures 2 to 5, each fixing bracket 11c further comprises two pairs of tabs 1 If formed in projection and configured to slide into grip under ribs 1 li of the profile sections 1 la, 11b so as to reinforce the connection between the fixing brackets 1 le and the profile sections 1 la, 11b, in particular in torsion.

[0063] In the embodiment shown in Figures 2 to 5, the profile sections 1a, 11b and the fixing brackets 1le are made of polymer, preferably polyvinyl chloride or polyester. In some variations, other materials may be used for the fixing brackets 11c and / or the profile sections 1a, 11b, for example metal, such as galvanized steel or stainless steel. Preferably, the fixing brackets 1le and the profile sections 1a, 11b are made of a water-resistant material to allow for washing the fluid filtration tool 10.

[0064] The profile sections 11b can for example be manufactured by extrusion, and the fixing brackets 11c can for example be manufactured by molding.

[0065] The invention also relates to a kit for a fluid filtration tool 10 according to the invention.

[0066] The kit for a fluid filtration tool 10 according to the invention comprises four profile sections lia, 11b configured to form a frame 11, two accordion-shaped cross-section grids 2, 3 comprising elastic interlocking means 23, 33 configured to engage with each other and to be received between the profile sections 1la, 11b of the frame 11, and of the filter media 12, configured to be disposed between the two grids 2, 3.

[0067] The invention further relates to a method for preparing a fluid filtration tool 10 according to the invention, for example according to the embodiment shown in Figures 2 to 5 and described above.

[0068] The process comprises the following steps.

[0069] A first step consisting of providing a portion of the frame 11 comprising three lia of the four lia, 11b profile sections assembled together.

[0070] Then, a step consisting of arranging the clean filter media 12 on the first grid 2, on the side 2a comprising the first elastic interlocking means 23, so as to fit the accordion cross-section of the first grid 2.

[0071] Next, a step consisting of pressing the side 3a of the second grid 3 comprising the second elastic interlocking means 33 against the filter medium 12, and engaging the first and second elastic interlocking means 23, 33 so as to sandwich the filter medium 12.

[0072] Then, a step consisting of arranging the first grid 2, the second grid 3, forming an arrangement 1 according to the invention, and the filtering media 12 between the three profile sections 1 of the portion of the frame 11.
