Abstract
The invention relates to a process for preparing a star copolymer of 1,3-diene and ethylene, the copolymer containing more than 50 mole percent ethylene units. The process comprises the polymerization of a monomeric mixture of 1,3-diene and ethylene in the presence of a catalytic system based on at least one neodymocene borohydride metallocene and an organomagnesium cocatalyst, followed by the reaction of tin tetrachloride with the polymerization reaction product, and then a chain-terminating reaction. The invention also relates to a star copolymer obtainable by the process according to the invention.
