Abstract

The invention relates to the determination by a receiver of a precoding for a transmission from a transmitter to said receiver. The method comprises, for at least a given number of spatial layers, the selection (E1), within a beam dictionary ( ), of a number of beams exhibiting the best performance with respect to a first performance criterion, with a strictly positive integer; the determination (E2) of at least two distinct broadband precoding matrices, each formed from beams among said selected beams; and the transmission (E3), to said transmitter, of at least one piece of information (PMI) identifying the broadband precoding matrix, among said determined broadband precoding matrices, defining a precoding exhibiting better performance with respect to a second performance criterion, compared with at least one precoding defined by another of said determined broadband precoding matrices.Figure for the abbreviation: figure 2.
