Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Support device for a sleeping area in a motor vehicle. Technical field
[0001] The invention relates to a support device for a sleeping surface, in particular a sleeping surface comprising a foam or inflatable mattress, the support device being adapted for use in a motor vehicle. More particularly, the invention relates to such equipment integrated into the motor vehicle, especially such equipment integrated into a seat, and designed to be deployed within the motor vehicle so as to form such a sleeping support.
[0002] Many motor vehicle users may wish to be able to equip their vehicle with a comfortable sleeping space to take a break or get a restful sleep in an unusual location while traveling in that vehicle. Solutions enabling such comfortable sleeping are lacking. Previous technique
[0003] FR3145520 is known to describe a passenger compartment arrangement of a motor vehicle of the type comprising a front row of seats, a rear row of seats, and a luggage compartment extending behind the rear row of seats. The passenger compartment of the motor vehicle of FR3145520 includes a folding sleeping device extending into the luggage compartment when the sleeping device is in a folded configuration and occupying a substantially parallelepiped-shaped volume, and extending from a rear wall of the luggage compartment to the front row of seats when the sleeping device is in a sleeping configuration, with the seatbacks of the rear row of seats folded down. The FR3145520 sleeping unit, in both its folded and sleeping configurations, forms a compartment with an upper surface comprised of panels that fold by pivoting onto one another in the folded configuration. In the sleeping position, these panels are deployed by tilting in line with one another. The interior layout of the FR3145520 presents several problems. Firstly, the sleeping unit in its folded configuration is bulky and occupies virtually the entire luggage compartment of the vehicle. This prevents normal use of the luggage compartment for transporting luggage separate from the sleeping unit. Secondly, the sleeping surface provided by the FR3145520 sleeping unit extends vertically along the Z-axis of a right-handed orthonormal XYZ coordinate system, such that the sleeping surface extends substantially from... from the base of the rear door side windows. The space between the sleeping surface of FR3145520 and the passenger compartment ceiling, which remains available for a person lying on the sleeping surface, does not allow for complete freedom of movement or a good night's sleep. The comfort of this person lying down is not fully guaranteed.
[0004] The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks.
[0005] The invention also aims to provide a support device for a bed that allows the full functionality and / or capacity of the second row seat(s) and / or rear bench seat and luggage compartment to be retained when the support device is in a retracted configuration and integrated into the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. Description of the invention
[0006] The invention relates to a support device for a sleeping area in a motor vehicle.
[0007] The invention relates to such a support device for the rear seat of a motor vehicle, the support device comprising: - a first element, called a fixed comb, rigid and forming a plurality of coplanar and parallel extensions, - a second element, called a mobile comb, rigid and forming a plurality of coplanar and parallel extensions, each extension of the plurality of extensions of said fixed comb being arranged so as to be able to be interposed between two extensions of the plurality of extensions of said mobile comb, in a first configuration, called retracted configuration, of the support device in which said mobile comb and said fixed comb cooperate to form a minimum bulk assembly -in particular in which said mobile comb does not extend vertically above a rear passenger footwell of the vehicle-, - a rigid frame adapted to be able to be secured opposite a rear face -in particular secured with a rear face- of a second row rear seat backrest of a motor vehicle, the rigid frame comprising two parallel concave slides, each guiding by sliding a peripheral extension of the plurality of extensions of said movable comb between said retracted configuration and at least one configuration, said deployed configuration, of said movable comb relative to said fixed comb, in which said movable comb extends vertically above a rear passenger footwell of the motor vehicle - that is to say, extends in cantilever - when the backrest of the rear seat is in a folded-forward position.
[0008] Throughout the text: - The term "integrated device" or "integrated equipment" in a motor vehicle, particularly a seat, refers to a device / equipment which, even if removable from the vehicle, is designed to remain in the vehicle in two states: first, in its deployed state, extending into the vehicle's passenger compartment to support a sleeping area; and second, in its folded state, where it is located within the vehicle's passenger compartment, without supporting a sleeping area and without limiting the number of seats in the motor vehicle. Advantageously, such an integrated device is installed as original equipment in the vehicle so that the support device is permanently available in the vehicle. However, nothing prevents the support device from being able to be separated from the vehicle for the purpose of its temporary storage away from the vehicle. - The expression "concave slide" refers to a profile forming a concave surface, that is to say, a hollow surface having a concave shape along substantially all, and in particular along all, transverse cross-sections of the profile, - The term "rigid" describes an element of the support device that does not deform significantly under the weight of an individual using the support device in its deployed configuration. The element of the support device may be described as "rigid" due to the material(s) from which it is made and / or due to its shape. - the terms "front", "rear", "right", "left", "up" and "down" are to be considered in relation to a vehicle in normal condition to move forward, and - the XYZ reference frame refers to a direct orthonormal XYZ reference frame classically used in automotive design, as represented in [Fig.9] and in which the X axis designates the front-to-back longitudinal direction of the vehicle, oriented towards the rear, the Y axis designates the transverse direction and is oriented towards the right of the vehicle, the Z axis designates the vertical direction, and is oriented upwards.
[0009] The support device for a bed according to the invention: - is adapted to be deployed within the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, from a retracted configuration of the support device integrated into the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, and in such a way as to assume a sleeping configuration, and - is adapted to be able to be compacted from said sleeping configuration so as to take a retracted configuration of the support device, integrated into the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle.
[0010] The support device according to the invention therefore does not constitute a support device added from outside the motor vehicle into the vehicle's passenger compartment and occupying during a motor vehicle journey, a space dedicated to the transport of luggage.
[0011] The inventors discovered that it is possible, by a simple modification of the vehicle's interior, to create a substantially flat surface in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, large enough to comfortably accommodate a person of average height, approximately 190 cm, in a reclining position. This simply requires: - to move forward (along the -X axis of the direct orthonormal coordinate system as shown in [Fig. 9]) the driver and passenger seats of the first row (or row 1) of seats and / or to tilt the seatbacks of the first row of seats forward, - to fold down the seatbacks of the rear bench seat (or second row), whether it is a bench seat with a 100% backrest or a 40%-60% variant or a 40%-20%-40% variant, and - to deploy the support device mounted securely to the rear of the seat backs of the rear bench seat, so that the support device extends vertically to the rear passenger footwell.
[0012] According to the invention, said movable comb and said fixed comb are separate. Said movable comb forms a sliding "drawer" relative to the concave rails and is adapted to provide additional support for a sleeping surface that can be extended, by virtue of said movable comb being deployed, directly above the footwell extending in front of the rear bench seat whose backrest(s) is / are folded forward. The support device according to the invention makes it possible to extend the surface area used to support such a sleeping surface by a few tens of centimeters in length.
[0013] Typically, the upper surface of the backrest of a bench seat or rear seat folded forward has an upward incline relative to a plane orthogonal to the Z-axis of the right-handed orthonormal coordinate system, with a slope of approximately 9° (0.05 ir rad) without compression of the foam forming the seat cushion and backrest. This inclination of the upper surface of the backrest when folded forward reaches approximately 5° (0.02 ir rad to 0.03 ir rad) when the foam forming the seat cushion and backrest is compressed under the weight of a passenger. If necessary, there is nothing to prevent raising the hinge of the rear seat back relative to the seat cushion to bring the upper surface of the backrest of the rear seat folded forward closer to horizontal.
[0014] According to certain embodiments, said fixed comb extends substantially in a plane, said movable comb extends substantially in a plane and the plane of said fixed comb and the plane of said movable comb extend parallel to the rear face of the backrest in said retracted configuration and in said deployed configuration.
[0015] According to certain embodiments, a foam or inflatable mattress is positioned in the vehicle's passenger compartment so as to extend forwards along the upper surface of the support device in said deployed configuration and backwards onto the floor of the luggage compartment. Of course, nothing prevents the foam or inflatable mattress from being stored away from the vehicle, for example, folded or deflated, when the support device is in said retracted configuration.
[0016] According to certain embodiments, each concave slide is a U-shaped slide, having a U-shape along substantially any—in particular, along any—cross-section of the U-shaped slide. [0022] According to certain embodiments, the rigid frame is formed of two concave slides—in particular, two U-shaped slides—and four parallel cross members. Two of the four cross members are fixed to a first lateral face of each concave slide—in particular, each U-shaped slide—and two other cross members are fixed to a second lateral face of each concave slide—in particular, each U-shaped slide—the second lateral face of each concave slide—in particular, each U-shaped slide—extending opposite the first lateral face. The rigid frame forms a sliding and guiding space for said movable comb.
[0023] According to certain embodiments, said fixed comb is mounted integrally with the rigid frame. According to certain embodiments, said fixed comb is interposed fixedly between a first group of cross members fixed on a first lateral face of each concave slide -in particular of each U-shaped slide- and a second group of cross members fixed on a second lateral face of each concave slide -in particular of each U-shaped slide-, the second lateral face extending opposite the first lateral face.
[0024] According to certain embodiments, said fixed comb is mounted securely to the rigid frame by a through-assembly: - a crossbar fixed to the first lateral face of each concave slide - in particular of each U-shaped slide -, - said fixed comb and - a crossbar fixed to the second lateral face of each concave slide - in particular of each U-shaped slide-.
[0025] According to certain embodiments, said movable comb has a light forming a gripping handle adapted to facilitate movement of said movable comb relative to said fixed comb and to place said movable comb in said deployed position.

[0029] In these embodiments, the travel of said movable comb relative to said fixed comb is thus limited so that, in an extreme configuration of said deployed configuration, each free end of each extension of said movable comb extends opposite a cross member of the rigid frame. Said movable comb is held by the concave slides and by the cross member of the rigid frame against which said movable comb abuts.
[0030] In some embodiments, the support device comprises a cover housing enclosing the rigid frame, said fixed comb, and said movable comb. In some embodiments, the cover housing is made of a material whose appearance matches the interior trim of the vehicle.
[0031] In some embodiments, the support device includes means for securing the rigid frame to the rear face of the second-row rear seat backrest of the motor vehicle. In some embodiments, the means for securing the rigid frame and the rear seat backrest are reversible. In some of these embodiments, the concave slides of the rigid frame are provided with lateral bolts adapted to cooperate with a suspension slot or notch of the support device, formed in a tab supported by the backrest.

[0048] A support device 1 according to the invention, schematically represented in exploded view in [Fig. 1], comprises a rigid frame 8, in particular a rigid metallic frame 8. The rigid frame 8 is formed of two concave slides 9, 10 held parallel to each other by rigid cross members 18. The support device 1 comprises a first element, called a fixed comb 2, which is rigid and forms a plurality of coplanar extensions 3, parallel to each other and parallel to each of the concave slides 9, 10 when said fixed comb 2 is associated with the rigid frame 8. Said fixed comb 2 is mounted fixed and integral with the rigid frame 8. Said fixed comb 2 can be mounted fixed and integral with the rigid frame 8 by any means known per se, for example, by attaching each of the longitudinal ends of a transverse base 33 supporting the coplanar extensions 3 of said fixed comb 2, respectively, to one of the concave slides 9, 10.Nothing prevents the provision that said fixed comb 2 be mounted fixed and integral to the rigid frame 8 by securing at least one coplanar extension 3 of said fixed comb 2 to at least one rigid cross member 18. The support device 1 comprises a second element, called the movable comb 4, rigid and forming a plurality of coplanar extensions 5, parallel to each other, complementary to the extensions 3 of said fixed comb 2 and parallel to each of the concave slides 9, 10. Said movable comb 4 includes in particular two lateral end extensions 11 adapted to each cooperate with a concave slide 9, 10 and guide said movable comb 4 in movement between said retracted configuration 6 and a second configuration, called the deployed configuration 12, of the support device 1 in which said movable comb 4 extends vertically above a rear passenger footwell 30 of the vehicle 20, when the rear seat backrest is folded forward. The movable comb 4 also includes a plurality of internal extensions 15, the plurality of internal extensions 15 being framed by the lateral end extensions 11. The plurality of internal extensions 15 is adapted to cooperate with the extensions 3 of the fixed comb 2. The movable comb 4 has a transverse base 44 supporting the extensions 5 of the movable comb 4 and extending opposite the transverse base 33 of the fixed comb 2. The length of each concave slide 9, 10 and of each cross member is adapted so that the support device 1 can. to extend opposite a rear face 13 of a rear seat back 14 of the second-row bench seat 31 of the vehicle 20, the support device 1 being in a first configuration, referred to as the retracted configuration 6, in which the movable comb 4 and the fixed comb 2 cooperate to form a minimum-sized assembly. In the embodiment shown, the movable comb 4 includes means 38 for attaching and suspending the movable comb 4 from a foot 36 in the middle of the vehicle 20. The motor vehicle 20 has, from front to rear along the X-axis of the direct orthonormal XYZ frame: - a front-row seat 27 or "front" seat comprising a seat 28 and a backrest 29 partially folded forward, - a second-row bench seat 31 or "rear" bench seat comprising a seat 32 and a backrest 14 of the second-row bench seat 31, the backrest 14 being folded forward so that the rear face 13 of the backrest 14 - that is to say the main face 13 of the backrest 14 opposite the support face 43 of a passenger seated on the bench seat 31 whose backrest 14 is upright - extends in a plane substantially orthogonal to the Z axis of the direct orthonormal XYZ frame, and - a luggage compartment 34 extending behind the second row bench seat 31 and limited downwards by a floor 42.
[0050] The first row seat 27 and the second row bench 31 define between them a free space, called footwell 30, intended to receive the feet of the passenger(s) seated on the second row bench 31, when the backrest 14 of the second row bench 31 is raised to the seating position of the passenger(s). In the embodiment shown in [Fig.2], the rigid frame 8 of the support device 1 is mounted fixed to the rear face 13 of the backrest 14 of the second row bench seat 31, the backrest 14 being folded forward, the rigid frame 8 being substantially parallel to the rear face 13 of the backrest 14. In the embodiment shown, said movable comb 4 of the support device 1 is in said deployed configuration 12 of the support device 1, said movable comb 4, the rigid frame 8 and said fixed comb 2 (not visible in [Fig.2]) being substantially coplanar. The mobile comb 4, attached to the rigid frame 8, is cantilevered out from under the base 30 at a distance, forming an extended sleeping surface that extends forward beyond the folded-down backrest 14. This makes it possible to comfortably accommodate a tall person. The mobile comb 4 is equipped with attachment and suspension means 38 for attaching and suspending it from a mid-point 36 (not shown) of the vehicle 20. In the embodiment shown, the attachment and suspension means 38 for attaching and suspending the mobile comb 4 are mounted integrally with the transverse base 44 of the mobile comb 4.
[0051] A support device 1 according to the invention is shown in [Fig. 3] in a top view (along the Z-axis of the direct orthonormal XYZ coordinate system), assembled to a backrest 14 of a second-row bench seat 31 of a motor vehicle 20, the support device 1 being in said retracted configuration 6, in which said fixed comb 2 and said movable comb 4 together form a minimum-sized assembly 7. The motor vehicle 20 has a second-row bench seat 31 whose backrest(s) 14 are folded forward. The motor vehicle 20 has, on each of its lateral faces, a central support leg 36 extending forward from the second-row bench seat 31. The support device 1 includes a casing 26 shown in transparency in [Fig. 3] for convenience only, to visualize the underlying elements constituting the support device 1. The casing 26 encloses the rigid frame 8. said fixed comb 2 and said movable comb 4. Preferably, the cover 26 is made of at least one material whose appearance matches the interior trim of the vehicle 20. The rigid frame 8 of the support device 1 comprises two concave slides 9, 10, in particular two U-shaped slides 9, 10 held rigidly parallel to each other by cross members 18. The concave slides 9, 10 and the cross members 18 forming the rigid frame 8 may be made of any suitable rigid material. In the embodiment shown, the rigid frame 8 has two cross members 18 parallel to each other and extending over a first main face of the rigid frame 8, said first main face extending opposite the backrest 14 of the second-row bench seat 31.The rigid frame 8 further comprises two parallel cross members 18 extending over a second main face of the rigid frame 8, said second main face extending opposite the passenger compartment of the vehicle 20, the first and second main faces being parallel to each other. However, nothing prevents the rigid frame 8 from having more than four or fewer cross members 18, whether parallel or not. In the embodiment shown, each cross member 18 of the first main face extends opposite a cross member 18 of the second main face of the rigid frame 8. However, nothing prevents the cross members 18 from being offset from each other, provided that the cross members maintain the parallel concave slides 9, 10. On the support device 1 shown in [Fig. 3], the fixed comb 2 is formed by a transverse base 33 and a plurality of extensions 3 extending parallel to each other from the transverse base 33. The fixed comb 2 shown comprises six coplanar extensions 3. However, nothing prevents the fixed comb 2 from having more than six extensions 3 or fewer than six extensions 3, provided that the number of extensions 3 of the fixed comb 2 is adapted to the number of extensions 5 of the movable comb 4. In the embodiment shown, each extension 3 of the fixed comb 2 is interposed between two cross members 18 of the first main face of the rigid frame 8 and two cross members 18 of the second main face of the rigid frame 8.The fixed comb 2 is held fixed relative to the rigid card 8 by fixing at least one extension 3 of the fixed comb 2 to at least one cross member 18, the extensions 3 of the fixed comb 2 extending parallel to the concave slides 9, 10. The movable comb 4 shown in [Fig. 3] is formed of a transverse base 44 and a plurality of extensions 5 extending parallel to each other from the transverse base 44. The fixed movable comb 4 shown comprises seven extensions 5. However, nothing prevents the movable comb 4 from having more than seven extensions 5 or fewer than seven extensions 5, provided that the number of extensions 5 of the movable comb 4 is adapted to the number of extensions 3 of the fixed comb 2.
