Abstract
Description
Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a refuse receptacle shoe, in particular a device for preventing the base of a refuse receptacle or skip from contacting an underlying surface. Background Increasing numbers of small and large construction sites are a feature of many societies. Each site needs to typically dispose of a significant quantity of waste and / or surplus material. This can be either collected using bags, cranes or refuse receptacle / skip. Where a refuse receptacle is used often this will be on a construction site for some time. When a refuse receptacle is needed on a job, the ground it sits on can be damaged and scratched when the refuse receptacle is being lifted into place or removed. Prior Art US 2008 0 042 025 (BROUARD et al) discloses a set of quickly interchangeable pads, which can fit to furniture or appliances, composed of a round cup in which a textured rubber puck and a felt puck are inserted. US 2001 0 040 206 (FERENCZ) discloses a slidable support for an article comprising: a. a first elastomeric element for elastic engagement with a leg of the article to be supported, said first elastomeric element having a base portion and a circumferential inwardly extending rim for gripping the periphery of a leg of the article to be supported. CN 102 217 862 (CHUNJIAN) discloses a chair sleeve gasket, comprising a sleeve body and nonwoven fabric, wherein the sleeve body is an all-in-one injection moulding, the bottom part of the sleeve body is provided with a bottom surface, and the nonwoven fabric is arranged below the bottom surface; jacks matched with chair legs are arranged at the top part of the sleeve body, the jacks are provided with a plurality of outward open slots, the sleeve body is provided with a cover side, and the sleeve body can be square or in a circular truncated cone shape. The present invention arose in order to overcome problems suffered by existing devices. Summary of the Invention According to the present invention there is provided a refuse receptacle shoe comprises a magnetic block provided within a housing which attaches magnetically to an underside of a refuse receptacle, the shoe has a top face and a bottom face, spaced apart by one or more sides, wherein at least one indentation is provided at joining edges between the faces and the sides to provide a hold for removal of the shoe from the refuse receptacle. In some embodiments the indentation may be envisaged to comprise a finger groove, sized appropriate a standard finger or thumb size. The shoe thereby saves builders and contractors money; wherein by using the shoe they will no longer have to buy materials to go under refuse receptacles or skips, which material is then wasted. Additionally or alternatively surfaces below the refuse receptacle are protected from damage or scraping. It may be envisaged that the shoe may comprise a substantially rectangular block. This block may have rounded or radiused corners and edges so as to ensure that the block is not prone to wear the housing. In some embodiments the housing comprises rounded or radiused corners and edges so as to ensure that the housing is not prone to wear. In some embodiments the housing is formed in a rubber, silicone, elastomer or plastic. In some embodiments the housing is formed in more than one part, which parts may be permanently sealed, bonded or closed around all or most of the block, so as to limit potential or accidental dislocation of the housing from the block. 5 For example the parts of the housing may comprise two substantially identical openfaced trays into which the block is inserted, such that the depth of the block is deeper than the depth of the open-faced tray in either part. In this way the block may be envisaged to stand proud of the housing part when within the tray. As a result the parts may be bonded together around the block, particularly around the sides of the block. 0 In some embodiments the faces of the housing are substantially flat, and substantially parallel. The faces are spaced apart by the depth of the block and the depth of the faces. The 15 faces may be envisaged to be relatively deep to provide sufficient padding around the block. The block may comprise a neodymium iron boron (NdFeB or NIB), cobalt (SmCo), CM alnico ceramic or ferrite permanent magnet. "1“ 20 The ground contacting face may include a resiliently deformable material. CO The block may be envisaged to be over moulded with rubber so that is it completely sealed within the rubber. The rubber may be envisaged to be a high hardness, for example 80-90% Shore hardness rubber. The rubber housing may provide branding 25 opportunities for example embossed or debossed information. In this way the shoe of the present invention may be envisaged to be easy to place on a refuse receptacle underside, such that the shoes may act as feet for the refuse receptacle. In some embodiments the shoe comprises an indentation such a finger groove in the middle of each edge, or so that the pad can be placed any way round and still be easily removed. 35 In some embodiments the shoe comprises finger grooves on every side of the shoe. I n use therefore the shoes of the present invention are envisaged to sit under the refuse receptacle with the depth of the shoes accommodating any uneven surfaces or bowing in the refuse receptacle’s base, where the positioning of the shoe in the base is not of great importance provided the shoes are attached to the base. In some embodiments the shoe may be envisaged to be circular and / or comprise a multitude of sides in a substantially symmetrical shape, so as to aid in easy placement. In some embodiments the shoe may comprise a light source, for example one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs), which may be powered by an internal and / or rechargeable or displaceable battery. In this way the shoe may illuminate the refuse receptacle and its environs, safely and without danger of theft or tampering. In some embodiments the shoe may provide a hook, clip, anchor or other lashing point to enable a cover to be easily fastened over the refuse receptacle, for example anchored to the shoes. A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which: Brief Description of Figures Figure 1 shows an isometric view of an embodiment of the shoe according to the present invention; Figure 2 shows an exploded isometric view of the embodiment shown in Figure 1; Figure 3 shows a plan view of the embodiment shown in Figure 1; Figure 4 shows an end view of the embodiment shown in Figure 1; and Figure 5 shows a side view of the embodiment shown in Figure 1. Detailed Description of Figures With reference to the figures there is shown an embodiment of the shoe according to the present invention generally comprising a magnetic block 9 provided with a housing 3, wherein the housing provides a top face 2 and a bottom face 2, separated by four sides 8, with each side sharing an indentation 7 with a face 2, such that the indentation provides a hold for removal of the shoe from a refuse receptacle or skip (not shown). In particular reference to the pictured embodiment the embodiment comprises a substantially rectangular block 9 and housing 3, the block internal the housing wherein the housing and the housing and block both have rounded corners 5 and joining edges 1 between the faces 2 and sides 8. The indentations 7 are midway on the edges 1 between the corners 5. The indentations are scooped concave segments of a sphere. The faces 2 of the block and housing are both flat and parallel with the sides sharing indentations with a ground contacting face in use. The housing 3 is formed of two identical open faced trays, which are bonded together to face one another, along the top faces of the sides of the tray. The sides and faces of the housing trays have an equal depth of material so as to form an overall depth of 60mm. The trays' internal shape 4 includes rounded corners and edges, which mirror the blocks’ corners and edges. The block is wholly contained within the housing permanently. In this way the embodiment provides pads to protect the surface beneath a skip. The embodiment thereby attaches magnetically to the underside of the skip or refuse receptacle in each corner of the skip’s base. The embodiment lifts the skip off the ground by 60mm, meaning that the skip never touches the ground, eliminating any chance of surface damage. In this way the shoe means that builders and contractors no longer have to find materials such as planks of wood to put under the skip and the size of the embodiment allows the shoe to be stored and transported easily until needed. 5 The rounded edges of the block and the internal form of the housing prevent the block from cutting its way through the rubber over time. The indentations comprise finger grooves on each all four edges of the faces, shared with the sides, so as to help when removing the embodiment from the underside of the 10 skip. In use therefore: When lowering the skip to the ground, stop a metre or so before it touches down. 15 Press a shoe onto each corner on the underside of the skip. Ensure the magnetism of the block has full hold. 20 Lower the skip until it is on the ground. The shoes will thereby prevent any scratches on the driveway during its removal, accounting for any uneven surfaces or bowing of the base of the skip whilst it is sitting on the ground. 25 When the skip is ready to be taken away, lift it enough to remove all shoes. Use the finger grooves to get good grip on the shoe. 30 When removed, store all shoes in the cab, vehicle or equipment ready for the next job. The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of invention as defined by the claims, in particular but not solely combination of features of described embodiments. 13 11 24
