Assistive lifting device

Abstract

An assistive lifting device for aiding entry or exit from a vehicle comprising a platform 101 to support a user, a base 102 to which the platform is moveably mounted, means to attach the base to a structure 103 and lifting means 104 to move the platform from a horizontal position to a vertical one. The platform may be arranged for vertical adjustment or lateral adjustment or may rotate on a turntable. It may provide a seat and the lifting means may be an inflatable airbag, gas struts, pneumatic rams or an electric motor contained in a receptacle. Attachment may be through a rigid mounting, seatbelt or skirt and the platform may pivot. The device may have fixed positions provided by a guide and an air-filled membrane may have rigid circumferential supports.
