Abstract
Rolling element bearing 10 having outer seal ring 18 attached to outer race 12 and inner seal ring 22 attached to inner race 14. The outer seal 48 is multi-part successive seal, ring 48 furthest away from the outer race 16 is an end ring, and rings 40-46 therebetween are intermediate rings. Each seal has through holes 60-68, shouldered counterbore hole 76, and threaded hole 78. At least two intermediate rings 42, 44 (up to five) are twins having the same design. Counterbores 76, threaded holes 78 and adjacent through holes 62, 64, 80, 82 are all separated by angle α (3°). Through holes define a channel 70 from end ring to the outer race. The holes may all be at the same radial position. Diameter of through holes may be 6mm, threaded holes 12mm, counterbore 22mm and 13mm. Threaded holes may be blind. Marks 92, 94, 96, 98 may be on the same level as through holes.
