Human milk fortifier micronutrient supplementation kit

Abstract

The present invention relates to a human milk fortifier (HMF) supplementation kit comprising at least two micronutrients, wherein the kit is for use in supplementing the levels of the at least two micronutrients within a mixture of Mother’s Own Milk (MOM) / HMF or within a mixture of Donor Human Milk (DHM) / HMF. Preferably, the micronutrients are a powder blend in a sachet, a stick pack or a dissolvable compressed powder tablet and the kit comprises a plurality of dosage units. Preferably, the blend comprises at least two minerals, consisting of sodium, chloride, zinc and / or magnesium. Alternatively, the micronutrients are provided separately as discrete powder dosage units in different dosages. Also claimed is an infant nutritional composition comprising (a) human milk; (b) human milk fortifier; and (c) two micronutrients. Preferably the infant is a preterm infant, preferably a Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) infant.
