System and apparatus suitable for facilitating communication, and a communication method in association thereto

Abstract

There is provided a communication method (300) suitable for facilitating communication of at least one emergency notification in association with a vehicle. The communication method (300) can include an input step (302) wherein at least one input signal indicative of an emergency event is receivable, a processing step (304) wherein the received input signal is processable to generate at least one emergency notification and an output step (306) including performing at least one backup communication task wherein at least one output signal corresponding to the generated emergency notification is communicable to at least one of: at least one device outside of the vehicle and / or at least one device associated with the vehicle. The backup communication task may be performed when communication network inadequacy associated with location of the vehicle is ascertainable. The device outside of the vehicle may correspond to a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) carried by another vehicle. The TCU may be configurable to relay the output signal to a public-safety answering point (PSAP) when the another vehicle has travelled to another location where the communication network is adequate.
