Abstract
Claims
1) A method of configuring uplink transmission of one or more wireless devices by a first network node, the method comprising:receiving from a second network node a trigger request to trigger one or more wireless devices to perform an uplink transmission; andgenerating a trigger message based on the trigger request, the trigger message including identification information identifying the one or more wireless devices and configuration information indicating a resource for uplink transmission for the one or more wireless devices.2) The method according to claim 1, comprising estimating the resource for uplink transmission for the one or more wireless devices based on the trigger request.3) The method according to any of claims 1 or 2, comprising determining a type of trigger request from the second network node based on trigger type information contained in the trigger request.4) The method according to claim 3, wherein when the type of trigger request is a trigger request for uplink data, the method comprises estimating a resource required for uplink transmission for each of the one or more wireless devices based on a type of wireless device.5) The method according to claim 3, wherein when the type of trigger request is a trigger request for tracking, the method comprises estimating a resource required for uplink transmission for each of the one or more wireless devices for transmission of device identification information.6) The method according to any of claims 1 to 5, comprising determining whether the identification information identifies individual wireless devices, a group of wireless devices or any wireless devices.7) The method according to claim 6, wherein when identification information identifies individual wireless devices, the method comprises allocating a dedicated resource for uplink transmission for each individual wireless device.8) The method according to claim 7, wherein the configuration information includes index identification information corresponding to a dedicated resource within a predetermined set of resources for a given one of the one or more wireless devices for performing uplink transmission.9) The method according to claim 6, wherein when the identification information identifies a group of wireless devices, the method comprises determining whether dedicated resources for uplink can be allocated for each wireless device of the group of wireless devices and allocating resource for uplink transmission for each wireless device of the group of wireless devices based on the determination.10) The method according to claim 9, wherein when dedicated resources for uplink cannot be allocated for each wireless device of the group of wireless devices, the method comprises allocating resources based on estimated resources required for uplink transmission and generating the configuration information based on a rule for accessing the resource for uplink transmission.11) The method according to claim 6, wherein when the identification information identifies any wireless devices, the method comprises allocating resources based on estimated resources required for uplink transmission and generating the configuration information indicating a rule for accessing the resource for uplink transmission.12) The method according to any of claims 1 to 11, wherein the trigger message comprises information indicating a type of trigger request.13) The method according to any of claims 1 to 12, wherein the method comprises generating a trigger response comprising information determined based on an uplink transmission from the one or more wireless devices in response to the trigger message.14) The method according to any of claims 1 to 13, wherein the method comprises comparing a number of wireless devices which perform an uplink transmission in response to the trigger message against an expected number of responses and generating a second trigger message when a difference between the number of wireless devices which perform an uplink transmission and the expected number of responses exceeds a predetermined threshold.15) The method according to claim 14, wherein the method comprises i) generating a trigger response, the trigger response comprising aggregated information determined based on an uplink transmission from one or more wireless devices in response to the trigger message and the second trigger message; orii) generating a trigger response, the trigger response comprising information determined based on an uplink transmission from one or more wireless devices in response to the trigger message and a second trigger response, the second trigger response comprising information determined based on an uplink transmission from one or more wireless devices in response to the second trigger message.16) An apparatus for configuring uplink transmission of one or more wireless devices for a first network node, the apparatus comprising circuitry configured to:receive, from a second network node a trigger request to trigger one or more wireless devices to perform an uplink transmission; andgenerate a trigger message based on the trigger request, the trigger message including identification information identifying the one or more wireless devices and configuration information indicating a resource for uplink transmission for the one or more wireless devices.17) A method of configuring uplink transmission of one or more wireless devices for a second network node, the method comprising:sending, to a first network node, a trigger request to trigger one or more wireless devices to perform an uplink transmission; andreceiving, from the first network node, at least one trigger response, the at least one trigger response comprising information determined based on an uplink transmission from one or more wireless devices in response to a trigger message generated by the first network node.18) The method according to claim 17, wherein the trigger request includes, for the one or more wireless devices, at least one of: device identification information, device capability information, and / or device type information.19) The method according to claim 17 or 18, wherein the trigger request includes at least one of: an expected number of wireless devices which will perform uplink transmission in response to a trigger message generated by the first network node, group identification information, group size information, and / or trigger type information.20) An apparatus for configuring uplink transmission of one or more wireless devices for a second network node, the apparatus comprising circuitry configured to:send, to the first network node, a trigger request to trigger one or more wireless devices to perform an uplink transmission; andreceive, from the first network node, at least one trigger response, the at least one trigger response comprising information determined based on an uplink transmission from one or more wireless devices in response to a trigger message generated by the first network node.21) A method of configuring uplink transmission by a wireless device, the method comprising:receiving, from a first network node, a trigger message including identification information identifying one or more wireless devices and configuration information indicating a resource for uplink transmission by the one or more wireless devices; anddetermining a resource for uplink transmission based on the trigger message; andperforming uplink transmission in response to the trigger message.22) The method according to claim 21, comprising utilizing a carrier wave transmitted by the first network node when performing uplink transmission in response to the trigger message.23) The method according to claim 21 or 22, comprising i) determining the resource for uplink transmission based on a dedicated resource for uplink transmission indicated by the configuration information for the wireless device; orii) determining the resource for uplink transmission based on an allocated resource for uplink transmission and a rule for accessing the resource for uplink transmission.24) An apparatus for configuring uplink transmission by a wireless device, the apparatus comprising circuitry configured to:receive, from a first network node, a trigger message including identification information identifying one or more wireless devices and information identifying resources for uplink transmission by the one or more wireless devices; anddetermine an uplink transmission configuration based on the trigger message for uplink transmission in response to the trigger message; andperform uplink transmission in response to the trigger message.25) A computer program comprising instructions which, when implemented by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method according to any of claims 1 to 15;
