System and method related to access of data related to the construction industry

Abstract

A system 2 comprises a primary electronic display device 6, e.g. a floor-standing unit, located at a first location 8. The display device includes a user interface 10 for allowing a user access, by way of computer software stored on a computer at the first location, to one or more user-defined items of an electronic collection of data, e.g. a digital library of product information. The data is stored at one or more remote locations 12 to the display device and relates to the construction industry. The software allows the user to view and transfer the or each user-defined items to a secondary electronic display device 16 of the user, e.g. a personal portable electronic display device. The software further serves to notify owners of the or each accessed data item and provides means for contact between the owner of the or each accessed item and the user. [Fig. 1]
