Fence base

Abstract

A base 1 for a fence assembly comprising: a lower surface 2 for supporting the base upon a floor surface, a support 5 for supporting ballast, an engaging means 7 (fig 14: 20) for engaging with a fence post or panel so the post or panel is upstanding; a locating feature 8 adapted to cooperate with an end of a fence post or panel; the locating feature is provided with a retainer (fig 4: 54) which is adapted to prevent the end of the fence post or panel from being moved out of cooperation with the locating feature. The retainer may be moveable between conformations in which the fence post or panel is or is not detachable from the locating feature. The locating feature, which may be a protrusion, may cooperate with the fence post or panel by a push-fit arrangement, where the post or panel may be dropped onto the protrusion. The retainer may not be visible when the fence base is viewed perpendicular to the plane of the fence panel when it is attached. The retainer may comprise a protrusion, which may be spring loaded so that it is extendable and retractable. Figure 1
