An apparatus for separating waste from wastewater

Abstract

An apparatus for separating waste from wastewater, includes: a main body (12, Fig. 2); an inlet 50 for wastewater containing fats, oils and grease (FOG); a first outlet 36 for FOG; and a second outlet 60 for clean wastewater. The main body defines first and second internal spaces S1, (S2, Fig. 11), the second internal space includes a heater (124, Fig. 11), wherein the second internal space and / or fluid contained therein extends around a portion of the first outlet. FOG is separated from the wastewater in the first internal space, which is downstream of the inlet and upstream of the first and second outlets. The first internal space includes first, second and third portions which define a recess 300 external to the main body. The first outlet directs separated FOG to a position within a periphery of the main body defined by a sidewall of the main body. A first section 220 of the main body includes first and second members 222, 224, e.g. inclined plates or baffles, which define fluid flow paths which extend in different directions. [Figure 6(a)]
