Secure agentic payment protocols

Abstract

A system and method 100 for enacting autonomous payments in an AI-enhanced payment environment comprises an autonomous Artificial intelligence (AI) agent controller, a user wallet registered with the controller, and an Artificial Intelligence Agent, AIA. The AIA is registered with the controller, associated with the user wallet, and is authorised to enact transactions on behalf of the user via the user wallet in accordance with user instructions, which further define transaction parameters for the transactions enacted on behalf of the user. The AIA initiating a transaction with a vendor 101, by sending a request for issuance of a pre-authorisation token for the transaction to the user wallet 102, and the user wallet evaluating whether the transaction complies with the transaction parameters 103. If the user wallet determines that the transaction complies with the transaction parameters, the user wallet issues the requested preauthorisation token for completing the transaction to the AIA 104. Also envisaged is a system and method for centralised risk and fraud detection in payment flows. [figure 1]
