Block for coral growth and aquaculture

Abstract

The article related to the present design is a block for coral growth and aquaculture. This article is used to grow or cultivate (raise) the coral by fixing its main body to the seabed, for example, via an anchor member (such as an anchor post), and then allowing the coral to settle or fixing a part of it on the surface of the main body. This article has a columnar block-shaped base as its main body. In the base, an insertion hole for inserting an anchor member made of steel or the like is formed. This insertion hole is formed in the bottom surface of the base and extends along its axial direction. By means of the communication hole, the base can be securely fixed to the anchor member. A plurality of flat surfaces are arranged on the peripheral side surface of the base. These plurality of flat surfaces, the upper surface, and the bottom surface provide an ideal settlement and attachment surface (cultivation environment for growth and aquaculture) for promoting the growth of the coral. Furthermore, this base is formed in a hexagonal column shape, and all side surfaces are made into its flat surfaces. Thereby, a larger flat surface area is ensured. With this ensured, it becomes possible to provide a cultivation environment for growth and aquaculture that is more suitable for the growth of the coral. Also, the bottom surface of the base is formed in a concave-convex shape, and the concave-convex shape is in a pattern. Further, a communication hole is formed that extends radially inward from the peripheral side surface (flat surface) of the base and communicates with the aforementioned insertion hole. This communication hole permits the flow of seawater between the inside of the insertion hole and the outside of the base. Also, a through hole is further formed in the flat surface on the upper end side of the base. This through hole is formed to extend so as to avoid the aforementioned insertion hole. These communication hole and through hole are used as attachment holes for inserting, for example, a metal wire or a nail to fix the branch part of the coral to the base. By having such an appearance, this article can exhibit various functions (uses) related to the settlement, fixation, growth, and aquaculture of the coral.
