Transfer aids

Abstract

This article is a transfer aid made substantially of hard plastic (e.g., ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) and used to transfer a person (patient) from a bed or the like to a wheelchair (or seat), or vice versa. The transfer aid (10) comprises a floor plate body (11) having a longitudinal length of approximately 400 to 1000 mm and a thickness of approximately 4 to 10 mm. A buttocks interference prevention part (12) is provided in the center of one side of the floor plate body (11), and under-buttocks insertion parts (13) are provided on both ends. The buttocks interference prevention part (12) has a through-hole and a handle (12a), and is configured to be bendable via a recess (12b) between it and the floor plate body (11). In addition, notches (14) are formed between the main body (11) of the floor plate and both sides of the buttock interference prevention section (12) to the under-buttock insertion section (13), making it easier for the caregiver to hold the item and insert it under the buttocks of the person being transferred. Furthermore, hook holes (15) are provided on both ends of the main body (11) at positions on the center of gravity, improving convenience for storage and portability. A non-slip plate (16) can be provided on the back of the main body (11), thereby increasing stability during use. Reference rear view 1, showing the state in use, shows the main body (11) with two non-slip plates (16) attached, while reference rear view 2, showing the state in use, shows the main body (11) with one non-slip plate (16) attached. The reference perspective view and the reference front view show the buttock interference prevention portion (12) folded and flat with the floor plate body (11).
