Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a writing instrument, in particular a fountain pen, comprising a pen point, a writing part, in particular having a pen point, capable of accommodating a (elongated) writing agent reservoir containing a writing agent, in particular a writing cartridge containing ink, and an extraction aid detachably connected to the writing part for assisting the extraction of such a writing agent reservoir positionable or arranged within the writing part, the extraction aid having a particularly hollow cylindrical accommodation space for the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, preferably located at the end, and one or more connection parts for detachably connecting the extraction aid to the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir.

[0002] Writing instruments with an ejection aid that facilitates the ejection of a writing cartridge filled with ink are known from the prior art. For example, US Pat. No. 5,999,999 discloses a writing instrument cap as an ejection aid, which covers the pen point at the front, which is correspondingly releasably connected to the writing part of the writing instrument and which, in the removed state, can be used to release or unscrew a writing cartridge screwed into the writing part, which has an external thread, from the screwed state. For this purpose, the writing cartridge has a rib at the connectable part, i.e. the rear end, which fits into the connecting part of the cap, which is formed as a groove. A (temporary and removable) form-fitting connection is thereby formed between the cap and the writing cartridge, whereby by the user turning the cap a rotational force is transmitted to the rear end of the writing cartridge, which automatically moves the writing cartridge axially outwards from the writing instrument, due to the loosening of the threaded connection between the writing cartridge and the writing part. The disadvantages of this solution are, inter alia, that it requires the obligatory use of the ejection aid shown therein and that the writing cartridge is screwed into the writing instrument via a threaded connection. Standard cartridges with an almost smooth surface and no particular thread cannot be used. The production of writing cartridges with (male) threads is costly and complicated. [0003] [Patent Document 1] Patent No. 5448250 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] In view of the above, the object of the present invention is to improve a writing instrument of the type mentioned at the outset. [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] This problem is solved by a writing instrument having the configuration described in the characterizing portion of claim 1.

[0006] Therefore, according to the present invention, the writing instrument mentioned at the beginning is characterized in that the connection part or each connection part (each of the considered "plurality" of connection parts of the removal aid, which may be all connection parts of the removal aid that contribute to the detachable connection, but not necessarily all connection parts) is configured such that the removal aid is detachably frictionally attachable or frictionally connected to the connectable part while the connection part abuts against the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, in particular while the connection part deforms the wall of the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, preferably while deforming such that an additional detachable shape connection is established between the removal aid and the connectable part.

[0007] The detachable frictional connection between the removal aid and the writing agent reservoir according to the invention makes it possible, in particular in writing instruments such as fountain pens in which the writing agent reservoir is a writing cartridge containing ink or the like, that even (particularly) standard writing cartridges, which, contrary to the prior art, often consist of a plastic container with a more or less smooth outer surface (and in particular without a screw thread), can be removed from the writing part by means of such an removal aid, even if in some cases the writing cartridge cannot be grasped by the user or is very difficult to grasp with his hand.

[0008] It is also conceivable to incorporate the solution of the invention in other writing instruments as fountain pens, possibly with other writing agent reservoirs, for example with various other writing instruments with writing agent reservoirs containing various writing agents, in particular aqueous and / or pasty, such as inks, gels, etc.

[0009] In this case, within the scope of the present application, the writing portion preferably forms or comprises a part of the writing instrument or the part of the writing instrument that the user grasps in order to write.

[0010] It is self-evident that the pen point can be rigidly arranged and connected directly to the writing part, for example in a fountain pen where the pen point is formed by the nib, but it can also be a component part of the writing-agent reservoir (removably arranged in the writing part), for example.

[0011] If the writing agent reservoir is seated in the writing instrument or in the writing part of the writing instrument in a frictionally connected state to the removal aid, the user can, in order to replace the writing agent reservoir, for example, loosen the removal aid, which is detachably connected to the writing part, from the writing part, and then completely remove the removal aid from the writing part together with the writing agent reservoir, which is still connected to the removal aid on the basis of the detachable frictional connection at this point, whereby the writing agent reservoir is automatically completely pulled out of the writing part, without having to forcibly touch the writing agent reservoir first. Following this, the user can in a next step, for example, remove the writing agent reservoir from the removal aid so as to move it away from the writing part, insert a new writing agent reservoir (possibly previously detachably connected to the removal aid by the user) into the writing part, and then reconnect the removal aid to the writing part.

[0012] With regard to the or each connecting part of the removal aid, the removal aid may have an inner surface, in particular essentially round in cross section or essentially (in particular regular) polygonal in cross section, circumferentially surrounding (and defining) the receiving space for the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, in which case the or each connecting part is formed by the inner surface and / or (possibly each) by a particularly flat part of the inner surface and / or in which case the or each connecting part is arranged on the inner surface, in particular integrally connected thereto, in particular being integrally formed therewith.

[0013] In other words, on the one hand, the circumferential inner surface itself (possibly one or more parts thereof) may form the or each connecting part.

[0014] In this case, it can be envisaged, for example, that the circumferential inner surface or inner contour of the receiving space (in this example polygonal in cross section) is square or rectangular in cross section (possibly with rounded corners), in which case a releasable frictional and form-locking connection can be established if the outer contour of the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir is appropriately adapted to the inner contour or to the circumferential inner surface of the receiving space (for example by the connectable part being shaped as a rectangular parallelepiped or its outer contour being correspondingly square or rectangular in cross section) so that the connectable part or its outer surface can be inserted with excess dimensions into the receiving space against the circumferential inner surface or against each of the four flat or non-curved parts of the inner surface.

[0015] Moreover, it may be particularly advantageous if the inner surface is shaped such that it forms one or more webs or ribs, respectively, which webs or ribs form the or each connecting portion.

[0016] On the other hand, it may also be envisaged that the inner surface itself does not form the or each connection portion, but rather that one or more separate connection portions are arranged on the inner surface, in which case the or each web / rib may be formed as an own or separate component and attached to the inner surface.

[0017] Very generally, it can be envisaged that the or each connecting part formed as a web or rib projects into the receiving space.

[0018] Alternatively, the or each web / rib may be aligned parallel to the longitudinal (central) axis of the writing implement and / or removal aid, respectively.

[0019] When the removal aid has multiple connection parts, it is envisaged that the connectable parts of the writing agent reservoir, e.g. when the writing agent reservoir is connected to the removal aid, are arranged in the receiving space of the removal aid, e.g. pressed radially or laterally between possibly multiple pairs of (more or less) respectively opposing connection parts in the receiving space, so that the writing cartridge is thereby held, in particular axially, and cannot be moved axially out of the removal aid.

[0020] In this case, the writing agent reservoir or the connectable part can advantageously be held or fixed radially relative to the removal aid at the same time, so that no relative rotation can occur between the removal aid and the writing cartridge.

[0021] If the connecting portions are formed as webs or ribs as described above, these may be particularly preferably arranged uniformly distributed over the cylindrical inner surface, with each adjacent connecting portion maintaining an angular distance from one another which is the same for all adjacent connecting portions.

[0022] Alternatively, the or each connecting portion may be elongated and each aligned parallel to the central longitudinal axis of the removal aid.

[0023] It is quite common for the ejection aid to be an injection moulded part of plastic, in particular.

[0024] Regarding the detachable connection between the writing part and the removal aid, the writing part and the removal aid may preferably be screwed together.

[0025] This can be achieved, for example, by a thread connection having a thread arranged on the removal aid, in particular configured as an external thread, and a thread arranged on the writing part, in particular configured as an internal thread, whereby the thread of the removal aid and the thread of the writing part are screwed together to connect the removal aid and the writing part. Preferably, the external thread of the removal aid is screwed into the internal thread of the writing part.

[0026] More preferably, in the present invention, the or each connecting part is configured and is especially adapted to the writing agent reservoir seated on or provided for the writing part, such that a detachable frictional connection (and possibly additionally a deformation of the connectable part or a form connection resulting therefrom) between the removal aid and the writing agent reservoir, in particular the connectable part of a writing cartridge, is or can be brought about during the connection of the removal aid to the writing part, in particular during screwing, at the writing agent reservoir arranged in or accommodated by the writing part, in particular after the removal aid has been placed by the user on the writing agent reservoir, in particular a writing cartridge or its connectable part, while previously accommodating the connectable part in the accommodation space of the removal aid, or while the removal aid has thus been placed over the writing agent reservoir or the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, while screwing the thread of the removal aid into the thread of the writing part.

[0027] In this case, this frictional connection and possibly additionally a form-locking is or can be achieved by the fact that the or each connecting part of the removal aid at least partially bites into the wall of the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, in particular during connection or in particular during screwing, so that, as already mentioned above, the writing agent reservoir is held axially in the receiving space of the removal aid, in particular by lateral or radial pressing.

[0028] Within the range of the penetration, a recess extending by and / or for each connecting part, for example in particular axially or parallel to the longitudinal (central) axis of the writing instrument, is formed in the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, in which recess the respective connecting part may be located.

[0029] In this case, the frictional connection and possibly additionally the positive connection, in particular the aforementioned penetration of the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir, in particular the writing cartridge, into the wall, can preferably be brought about during or by the linear and / or axial relative movement of the writing agent reservoir and the removal aid. If the writing part and the removal aid are connected to one another, for example, as described above, by a screw connection, preferably exclusively by the linear or axial relative movement component of the writing part and the removal aid which arises in this case, the or each connecting part is moved linearly and / or axially along the connectable part, in particular while deforming the connectable part, preferably while forming the respective recess.

[0030] Possibly additional deformation of the connectable part or possibly additional form connection with the writing agent reservoir, in particular with the writing cartridge, can in this case, after completion of the connecting or possibly screwing process, bring about an additional sufficient radial fixation or securing of the writing agent reservoir relative to the removal aid, so that the writing agent reservoir automatically rotates together, in particular in a (possibly further or even later) rotational movement of the removal aid performed by the user, and relative rotation between the writing agent reservoir and the removal aid is completely or almost prevented.

[0031] Regarding a further configuration of the removal aid, the removal aid is or forms a preferably rear, cap-like end piece of the writing instrument, which is removably connected to the writing part, in particular via the aforementioned thread connection, preferably at the rear, whereby the cap-like end piece is removably connected to the writing part on the side of the writing part opposite to the side on which the pen point is arranged.

[0032] Furthermore, the inventive configuration of the writing instrument or of the removal aid makes it possible to realize special proportions of the individual components of the writing instrument.

[0033] It can therefore be envisaged that the (axial) longitudinal extension length of the outer surface of the end member from its rear free end to its end adjacent to the writing part (when the end member and the writing part are connected to each other) is less than half, preferably less than 7 / 16, of the (axial) longitudinal extension length of the writing part from its end adjacent to the end member to the pen point.

[0034] It can further be envisaged that the writing part has a receiving space for a writing-agent reservoir, surrounded at least laterally by walls of the writing part and open, in particular towards a (rear or rear) receiving surface (through which the writing-agent reservoir can be inserted), and preferably in the case of a writing cartridge (containing ink or an ink-like writing agent) a piercing wick for the writing cartridge is provided, the receiving space then being able to border directly or via a connecting intermediate space on the receiving space of the removal aid.

[0035] Furthermore, it can be envisaged that when the writing agent reservoir is located in the storage space of the writing part in a position set for using the writing instrument, in particular in a position in which the writing agent of the writing agent reservoir can be directed towards the pen point, not half of its length or at most half, preferably at most 1 / 3 of its length and particularly preferably at most 1 / 4 of its length, protrudes from the storage space (towards the removal aid).

[0036] This relatively small protrusion of the writing agent reservoir, and in particular the writing cartridge, from the receiving space, or its complete immersion within the receiving space, can make it difficult or impossible for a user to grasp the writing agent cartridge by hand, as the case may be, but nevertheless allows the user to easily remove the writing agent reservoir, and in particular the writing cartridge, by virtue of the writing agent reservoir being removably connected to the removal aid.

[0037] When the writing agent reservoir is located within the storage space in a position set for using the writing instrument, particularly in a position in which the writing agent of the writing agent reservoir can be sent toward the pen point, the connectable portion of the writing agent reservoir may be positioned, in whole or in part, within the storage space of the writing part.

[0038] Additionally or alternatively, the connectable part of the writing agent reservoir may (in this position of the writing agent reservoir) be spaced from the rear free end of the writing agent reservoir (particularly within the receiving space of the removal aid) by an end portion of the writing agent reservoir including this free end, and the removal aid and this end portion are not frictionally connected, and possibly additionally are not form-connected, in particular based on the fact that the or each connecting portion is radially spaced from the end portion.

[0039] In other words, in that case, the frictional connection or, possibly, an additional form connection does not occur directly at the end portion of the writing agent reservoir that includes this free writing agent reservoir end, but in an area spaced away from the free writing agent reservoir end.

[0040] Finally, with regard to the writing agent reservoir (or possibly the writing cartridge) itself, preferably, as mentioned above, at least that part of the writing agent reservoir including the connectable part, and particularly preferably the entire writing cartridge, consists of a particularly deformable, preferably elastic, plastic.

[0041] Further features of the present invention will be apparent from the claims, the following description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0042] [Figure 1] 1 shows a schematic longitudinal cross-sectional view of a writing instrument according to the present invention; [Diagram 2] 1 is a perspective view, partially in cross section, of a writing instrument according to the present invention; DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0043] The illustrated writing instrument 10 is in this embodiment a so-called fountain pen. A fountain pen has, in particular in its front region or at its front end, a nib 11 (made of metal in this embodiment) with a pen point 12.

[0044] The nib 11 is part of a writing part 13 of the writing instrument 10, which has a housing 17 that serves as a grip part, according to which the user can hold it appropriately when writing. The housing 17 has in particular a receiving space 14 in which an elongated writing agent reservoir, configured in this case as a writing cartridge 15 as is known, is seated on a piercing core 16.

[0045] The writing cartridge 15 contains ink, and as is well known, the ink is guided to the pen tip 11 via an ink guide groove or the like, and therein is guided in particular to the pen point 12.

[0046] As mentioned at the outset, the invention is described on the basis of the illustrated fountain pen, but is not limited to such a fountain pen, and the invention may also be used in connection with other writing instruments, possibly having writing agent reservoirs of other configurations.

[0047] The illustrated writing instrument 10, in this form, has a cap-shaped end member 18 at its rear end, which is removably screwed onto the writing portion 13, i.e., onto the end of the writing portion 13 or the housing 17 of the writing portion 13 that is closer to the end member 18, specifically via a threaded connection 21.

[0048] In this case, the end member 18 has for this purpose a hollow cylindrical protrusion 19 located at its end in this embodiment, which protrusion 19 engages in a suitable, in particular hollow cylindrical protrusion receiving portion 20 at the rear end of the housing part of the housing 17.

[0049] In this case, the threaded connection 21 between the protrusion 19 and the protrusion receiving portion 20 is created by an external thread arranged on the outside of the protrusion 19, which is screwed into a suitable internal thread arranged in the protrusion receiving portion 20, or which, in the initially unconnected state, is screwed in order to later connect these parts.

[0050] In this embodiment, specifically, the female thread of the projection receiving portion of the housing 17 is disposed on or machined into the inner surface of the projection receiving portion 20, which is particularly substantially cylindrical.

[0051] Obviously, the thread connection 21 may be configured in other ways as well, for example it is conceivable that the end piece 18 has an internal thread and the writing part 13 has an external thread.

[0052] The protrusion accommodating portion 20 forms a portion located at the end of the accommodating space 14 of the housing 17 of the writing part 13, which has an accommodating side that is open (located at the end) when the end member 18 and the writing part 13 are not connected, in which case the writing cartridge 15 is inserted into the accommodating space 14 in this state via the accommodating side.

[0053] 1 and 2, the end member 18 has a (particularly substantially cylindrical) accommodation space 26 in which the rear portion of the writing cartridge 15 is arranged, with the end member 18 and the writing portion 13 connected thereto. In this case, in this embodiment, the accommodation space 26 includes the internal space of the protruding portion 19 of the end member 18 and a further internal space portion of the end member 18 that is flush with and connected to this internal space.

[0054] What is particularly important here is that in this embodiment, the end member 18 is configured as an removal aid for easily removing the writing cartridge 15 from the housing 17 of the writing portion 13 so that the writing cartridge 15 can be easily replaced as needed.

[0055] As can be seen from Figures 1 and 2, in the illustrated position in which ink can be delivered, the writing cartridge 15 in this embodiment protrudes from the storage space 14 by at most ¼ of its length in the proportions selected for the writing instrument 10, making it sometimes difficult for a user to grasp the rear end of the cartridge 15 or sometimes difficult to apply sufficient pressure to the rear end.

[0056] To facilitate removal of the writing cartridge 15, the end member 18 has, in the present invention, a number of elongated connecting portions 27 formed as ribs each extending in the axial direction. The connecting portions 27 are arranged annularly on the inner surface of the receiving space 26 at angular distances from one another and, in the present embodiment, are formed by the inner surface by suitable shaping of the inner surface, protrude into the receiving space 26 and form a detachable connection with a (rearward / in the present embodiment also cylindrical) portion 25 of the writing cartridge 15 which is connectable to the connecting portions 27.

[0057] In this case, the connection portions 27 in this embodiment each define a partial space of the accommodating space 26 which is somewhat narrower, in particular narrower relative to the space defined by the respective radially recessed (disposed radially further outward) portions of the circumferentially extending inner surface of the accommodating space 26.

[0058] Of course, the connection part may also be configured in other ways, since it is particularly important that the detachable connection as a whole is configured in such a way that, on the one hand, when removing the end piece 18 from the writing part 13 after unscrewing or loosening the threaded connection 21, the writing cartridge 15 is automatically entrained in the end piece 18 and is thereby pulled out of the receiving space 14 of the writing part 13, but, on the other hand, the user can subsequently simply release the connection by hand, so that the writing cartridge 15 can be removed again from the end piece 18.

[0059] For this purpose, the diameter of the partial space defined by the narrowed or connecting portion 27 is adjusted to the connectable part 25 of the writing cartridge 15 (in particular to the outer diameter of said part 25), so that said part 25 is held in the receiving space 26 at least in a friction-fit manner while being pressed radially or laterally (excess dimension in relation to the narrowed partial space) and, in this embodiment, also in a form-fit manner, as will be described later.

[0060] In the simplest case, and in theory as an alternative and also by way of example, it is possible to dispense with this type of connecting portion 27 formed as a rib and to use only the (possibly smooth) inner surface of the receiving space 26 as the connecting portion, when the diameter of the receiving space 26 defined by its inner surface is adjusted to the connectable portion 25, at least in the region of the connectable portion 25, so that this portion 25 can be pressed into it with excess dimensions.

[0061] Additionally, in this embodiment, the connectable portion 25 of the writing cartridge 15 does not include the rear free end of the writing cartridge 15 located in the receiving space 26 of the end member 18, but is separated from this free end by an end portion of the writing cartridge 15 that includes this free end. At the free end, the connection portion 27 is radially spaced away from the end portion and accordingly does not abut the writing cartridge 15 or this end portion there and does not form a connection there. This is because the writing cartridge 15 is tapered or has a smaller outer diameter than the connectable portion 25 at this end portion. However, it is self-evident that the connectable portion 25 can extend up to the free end of the writing cartridge 15, including the free end.

[0062] When the rib-shaped connecting portion 27 is used in this embodiment, the wall of the connectable part 25 is, otherwise advantageously additionally, deformed radially inwards to a certain extent, possibly barely imperceptibly, by the connecting portion 27 at the point where the connecting portion 27 acts or abuts on the connectable part 25, or the connecting portion 27 bites somewhat into the wall of the connectable part 25, so that in addition to the frictional connection, the already mentioned positive connection is produced, which in this case additionally prevents a relative rotational movement between the connectable part 25 on the one hand and the end piece 18 on the other hand.

[0063] The connection portion 27 is otherwise configured and adjusted to the writing cartridge 15 so that the aforementioned connection with the connectable portion 25 of the writing cartridge 15 is effected during screwing of the end member 18 and the writing portion 13, or at least can be effected upon proper operation, with the writing cartridge 15 already positioned within the writing portion 13 or within the receiving space 26 of the writing portion 13.

[0064] In this case, in practice, when the connection portion 27 is configured in this manner or is adjusted in this manner to fit the writing cartridge 15, the user can, for example, first place the end member 18 on the writing cartridge 15 or the connectable portion 25 of the writing cartridge 15 while accommodating the connectable portion 25 in the accommodating space 26, or can place the end member 18 over the writing cartridge 15 or the connectable portion 25 of the writing cartridge 15 in this manner, and then screw the end member 18 and the writing portion 13 together, thereby producing a frictional connection and, in this embodiment, additionally a form connection.

[0065] In this embodiment, each connecting portion 27 then bites into the connectable portion 25 or into the (outer) wall of the connectable portion 25 within the range of the linear and / or axial relative movement between the writing portion 13 and the end member 18 (or correspondingly the cartridge 15 and the end member 18) that occurs upon screwing (in addition to or during the relative rotational movement), specifically forming, in this embodiment, an elongated recess oriented parallel to the longitudinal extension length of the cartridge 15 or the writing instrument 10, respectively, in which the connecting portion 27 is located at the end of the screwing.

[0066] In this way, the writing cartridge 15 is correspondingly axially held in the receiving space 26 of the end piece 18 by being pressed laterally or radially.

[0067] Additional deformation of the connectable portion 25 or additional form connection with the writing cartridge 15 additionally provides sufficient fixation or securing of the writing cartridge 15 relative to the end member 18 in the radial direction, so that the writing cartridge 15 automatically rotates together, particularly upon (further or subsequent) rotational movement of the end member 18 by the user, and relative rotation between the writing cartridge 15 and the end member 18 is completely or almost prevented.

[0068] Alternatively to the above-described forms of effecting said connection, it is theoretically possible for the user to establish this connection in whole or in part by applying sufficient axial force to the writing cartridge 15 already in a state where the writing portion 13 and the end member 18 are not yet connected, by pushing its rear end into the end member 18 or until the connectable portion 25 is properly connected to the connecting portion 27 in the manner described.
