Abstract

To provide a sound absorption structure which is simple in structure and compact in size, while achieving a high sound-absorbing effect in a wide frequency band, and a sound absorption method using the structure.SOLUTION: A sound absorption structure consists of an elastic plate supported at its periphery and an enclosure part forming a cavity on the rear side of the elastic plate, and by providing a through hole in the elastic plate that connects the front side of the elastic plate with the cavity, vibration of the elastic plate generates a plate vibration type sound absorption characteristic, and the through hole and the cavity generates a resonance type sound absorption characteristic by Helmholtz resonance of the through-hole and a rear air layer in the cavity, where a natural frequency fp of the elastic plate is in the range of 100 to 2000 Hz, and the loss factor η of the elastic plate is set to be 0.64×fp-0.33 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
