Abstract
To provide a relay device and a network system that are capable of enhancing security while suppressing a decrease in communication band.SOLUTION: In a relay device, a connection request packet detection unit 85 detects a connection request packet transmitted from a terminal device and setting a destination IP address of a core device, which is necessary for establishing encrypted communication with the core device. When the connection request packet is detected, a MAC authentication application unit 86 applies MAC authentication to a transmission source MAC address added to the connection request packet. If the MAC authentication is permitted, a MAC filter execution unit 87 passes a frame transmitted from the terminal device based on permission of a MAC filter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5B
