Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0004] In the configuration described in Patent Document 1, at the joint between the backboard and the back pad provided on its surface, a step is likely to occur due to the collapse of the back pad. Therefore, on the back cover covering these surfaces, highlight lines or meandering of sewing lines due to the step are likely to occur. Thus, the present invention provides a seat back capable of reducing the step that can occur at the joint between the backboard and the back pad.
Means for Solving the Problems
[0005] As means for solving the above problems, the seat back of the present invention takes the following means.
[0006] That is, the first invention of the present invention is a seat back having a backboard, a back pad provided so as to be applied to the backboard from the front side of the seat, and a back cover covering the back pad and the backboard, wherein the backboard has a peripheral overhang portion that protrudes from its periphery so as to bend toward the front side of the seat, the back pad has a pad convex portion that bulges so as to protrude outside the peripheral overhang portion and is applied to the peripheral overhang portion from the front side of the seat, and the back cover is a seat back that covers the pad convex portion and the peripheral overhang portion so as to accompany a pressing-in that crushes the bulge of the pad convex portion.
[0007] According to the first invention, the amount of crushing by which the pad convex portion is crushed as the back cover is stretched can be set to the position where the back cover is pressed against and locked to the peripheral overhang portion of the backboard. As a result, the step that may occur at the joint between the pad convex portion after crushing and the peripheral overhang portion of the backboard can be reduced. Therefore, the back cover can be properly stretched.
[0008] The second invention of the present invention is the seat back according to the first invention, wherein the backboard further has a back support portion that protrudes to the front side of the seat so as to support the pad convex portion from the inside in the bulging direction.
[0009] According to the second invention, it is possible to provide back support so that the pad convex portion is not excessively pushed in against the load applied from the outside or the stretching force of the back cover. Thereby, the step that may occur at the joint between the pad convex portion and the peripheral overhang portion of the backboard can be more appropriately reduced.
[0010] The third invention of the present invention is the seat back according to the first or second invention, wherein the periphery where the peripheral overhang portion of the backboard is formed is the upper edge of the backboard.
[0011] According to the third invention, the upper edge portion of the seat back, which is likely to catch the user's eye, can be finished to look good.
[0012] The fourth invention of the present invention is that in the above first or second invention, the peripheral overhanging portion of the backboard is a seat back that bends so as to curve toward the front side of the sheet.
[0013] According to the fourth invention, it is possible to prevent a highlight line that deteriorates the appearance from appearing in the portion that covers the periphery of the backboard of the back cover.

Embodiments for Carrying Out the Invention
[0015] Hereinafter, embodiments for carrying out the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0016] 《First Embodiment》 (Schematic Configuration of Seat Back 1) First, the configuration of the seat back 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4. In the following description, when indicating directions such as front-back, up-down, left-right, etc., the respective directions shown in each figure shall be referred to.
[0017] Also, when indicating each direction with "sheet" such as "sheet width direction", it shall refer to each direction based on the seat back 1. Further, in the following description, when no specific reference figure is shown, or when there is no reference symbol corresponding to the reference figure, any one of FIGS. 1 to 4 shall be appropriately referred to.
[0018] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the seat back 1 according to the present embodiment is configured as a backrest portion of a rear seat that forms a seat in the last row of an automobile. The seat back 1 has a metal back frame 2 that forms its skeleton, and a back pad 3 made of foamed urethane that is placed on the front portion of the back frame 2.
[0019] In addition, the seat back 1 has a resin flat plate-shaped back board 4 provided on its back surface, and a back cover 5 that covers the entire surface of the seat back 1. The back board 4 is attached to the back frame 2 from the back side and is configured to form a substantially flat hard surface on the back surface of the seat back 1. The back frame 2 is assembled in a shape that forms a frame shape when viewed from the front.
[0020] The back pad 3 is assembled so as to be placed on the front side of the back frame 2 that forms a frame shape when viewed from the front. And the back pad 3 has its upper, lower, left, and right peripheral edges drawn backward so as to enclose each frame side portion of the back frame 2 from the outer peripheral side. Thereby, each peripheral edge portion of the back pad 3 is set to be applied to the back board 4 from the front side (seat surface side) as the back cover 5 covering its surface is stretched.
[0021] The back cover 5 has a bag shape including a back cover portion 5A that covers the back surface of the seat back 1, and a top cover portion 5B that covers the upper, lower, left, right, and front surfaces excluding the back surface of the seat back 1. The back cover portion 5A is made of a single carpet material. The top cover portion 5B is configured such that cover pieces made of a plurality of fabric materials cut according to the shapes of the surfaces excluding the back surface of the seat back 1 are joined together into one piece. The top cover portion 5B is configured to be softer than the back cover portion 5A.
[0022] The top cover portion 5B and the back cover portion 5A are joined together by sewing their upper edges together (see the sewing line S shown in FIG. 3). The side edges of the top cover portion 5B and the back cover portion 5A are joined together so as to be openable and closable by the connection of wire fasteners (not shown) provided along their respective edges.
[0023] After the above-described backboard 4 and back pad 3 are set on the back frame 2, the back cover 5 is set so as to cover them from above. Then, after the covering, the space between the side edges of the top plate cover portion 5B and the back cover portion 5A of the back cover 5 is closed by a wire fastener (not shown).
[0024] Thereby, the back cover 5 is closed in a bag shape, and the back cover portion 5A and the top plate cover portion 5B are stretched so as to closely adhere to the backboard 4 and the back pad 3, respectively. By this stretching, as shown in FIG. 3, the back pad 3 is positioned and fixed so as to be pressed against the back frame 2 and the backboard 4. The lower terminal of the top plate cover portion 5B of the back cover 5 is drawn backward so as to enclose the back pad 3 and is fixed so as to be joined to the lower terminal of the back cover portion 5A.
[0025] When the back cover 5 is stretched, if a step is generated at the joint portion of the peripheral edge where the back pad 3 and the backboard 4 are joined, the sewing line S that stitches the upper edges of the top plate cover portion 5B and the back cover portion 5A is likely to meander. In addition, a highlight line where the line of the peripheral edge of the highly rigid backboard 4 floats on the surface of the back cover 5 is likely to occur.
[0026] Therefore, in order to address such a problem, a structure capable of reducing the step that may occur at the joint portion between the back pad 3 and the backboard 4 is provided therebetween. Since the side edges between the top plate cover portion 5B and the back cover portion 5A are joined by a highly rigid wire fastener (not shown), such a problem is less likely to occur.
[0027] Hereinafter, the structure of the joint portion between the back pad 3 and the backboard 4 will be described in detail. As shown in FIG. 4, on the upper edge of the backboard 4, a peripheral overhanging portion 4A is formed so as to project toward the front side that becomes the sheet front side and bend. The peripheral overhanging portion 4A is formed so as to continuously extend along the upper edge of the backboard 4 with a uniform cross-section over substantially the entire width of the sheet in the sheet width direction.
[0028] The peripheral overhanging portion 4A is not formed to project in a bent shape from the upper edge of the backboard 4 toward the front side, but is formed to project in a curved shape so as to form a gentle curved surface A3 on the outer peripheral surface of the base portion. As a result, it is difficult for a highlight line that deteriorates the appearance to appear on the surface of the back cover 5 covering the periphery of the backboard 4.
[0029] On the upper edge portion of the back pad 3, a pad convex portion 3A that bulges upward so as to project outside the peripheral overhanging portion 4A is formed at a portion that is applied to the peripheral overhanging portion 4A of the backboard 4 from the front side. The pad convex portion 3A is formed so as to continuously extend along the upper edge portion of the back pad 3 with a uniform cross-section over substantially the entire width of the sheet in the sheet width direction.
[0030] The pad convex portion 3A has a shape in which the rear surface A1 facing the peripheral overhanging portion 4A rises upward with a rounded shape so as to be slightly curved forward. The upper surface A2 of the pad convex portion 3A is a curved surface that is curved in a convex curved surface shape in a side view so as to gently descend toward the front. In this way, the pad convex portion 3A has a shape that bulges in a substantially right-angled triangle shape in a side view, in which the rear side portion facing the peripheral overhanging portion 4A bulges the most and the bulge gradually decreases toward the front.
[0031] As shown in FIG. 3, as the back cover 5 is stretched over the surface of the pad convex portion 3A, the pad convex portion 3A is pressed downward from above so as to be crushed by the top plate cover portion 5B. Specifically, as the back cover 5 is stretched to a position where it is pressed against and locked to the peripheral overhanging portion 4A of the backboard 4, the pad convex portion 3A is pressed downward by the top plate cover portion 5B so as to be crushed to a height position substantially the same as that of the peripheral overhanging portion 4A.
[0032] At this time, the pad convex portion 3A is regulated so that it is only crushed to a position where the amount of its crushing is at most the same height as the peripheral overhanging portion 4A. The reason is that the back cover 5 presses the pad convex portion 3A downward only to the position where it is pressed against and locked to the peripheral overhanging portion 4A of the back board 4.
[0033] Therefore, the pad convex portion 3A is actually crushed by the stretching force of the back cover 5 to a position substantially at the same height as the peripheral overhanging portion 4A of the back board 4 or slightly above the peripheral overhanging portion 4A. As a result, the step that may occur at the joint between the pad convex portion 3A after crushing and the peripheral overhanging portion 4A of the back board 4 can be reduced. Therefore, the back cover 5 can be properly stretched.
[0034] The back pad 3 has a shape in which the rear surface of the portion corresponding to directly below the pad convex portion 3A is recessed forward from the rear surface A1 of the pad convex portion 3A. And on the back board 4, a back support portion 4B is formed so as to project in a flat plate shape so as to be in surface contact with the upper surface of the recess of the back pad 3, that is, the seat portion 3B, from below. The back support portion 4B is formed so as to project from the front surface portion below the peripheral overhanging portion 4A of the back board 4.
[0035] The seat portion 3B is formed so as to continuously extend with a uniform cross-section over substantially the entire area except for both ends in the sheet width direction of the back pad 3. The back support portion 4B is also formed so as to continuously extend with a uniform cross-section over substantially the entire area except for both ends in the sheet width direction of the back board 4.
[0036] Due to the support of the seat portion 3B of the back pad 3 from below by the back support portion 4B, the pad convex portion 3A is supported from below, which is the inner side in its bulging direction. Thereby, it is possible to provide back support so that the pad convex portion 3A is not excessively pushed in against the load applied from the outside or the stretching force of the back cover 5. As a result, the step that may occur at the joint between the pad convex portion 3A and the peripheral overhanging portion 4A can be more appropriately reduced.
[0037] Summarizing the above, the seat back 1 according to the present embodiment is configured as follows. Note that the reference numerals in parentheses below correspond to the respective configurations shown in the above embodiment.
[0038] That is, the seat back (1) includes a back board (4), a back pad (3) provided so as to be applied to the back board (4) from the seat front side, and a back cover (5) covering the back pad (3) and the back board (4). The back board (4) has a peripheral overhanging portion (4A) that projects so as to bend from its periphery toward the seat front side. The back pad (3) has a pad convex portion (3A) that bulges so as to project outside the peripheral overhanging portion (4A) and is applied to the peripheral overhanging portion (4A) from the seat front side. The back cover (5) is covered on the pad convex portion (3A) and the peripheral overhanging portion (4A) so as to accompany a pushing-in that crushes the bulge of the pad convex portion (3A).
[0039] According to the above configuration, the amount of crushing in which the pad convex portion (3A) is crushed as the back cover (5) is stretched can be retained until the position where the back cover (5) is pressed against and locked to the peripheral overhanging portion (4A) of the back board (4). As a result, the step that may occur at the joint between the pad convex portion (3A) after crushing and the peripheral overhanging portion (4A) of the back board (4) can be reduced. Therefore, the back cover (5) can be properly stretched.
[0040] Further, the back board (4) further has a back support portion (4B) that projects toward the seat front side so as to support the pad convex portion (3A) from the inside in the bulging direction. According to the above configuration, it is possible to support the pad convex portion (3A) so that it is not excessively pushed in against the load applied from the outside or the stretching force of the back cover (5). Thereby, the step that may occur at the joint between the pad convex portion (3A) and the peripheral overhanging portion (4A) of the back board (4) can be more appropriately reduced.
[0041] In addition, the periphery where the peripheral overhang portion (4A) of the backboard (4) is formed is the upper edge of the backboard (4). According to the above configuration, the upper edge portion of the seat back, which is likely to catch the user's eye, can be finished beautifully.
[0042] Also, the peripheral overhang portion (4A) of the backboard (4) bends so as to curve toward the front side of the seat. According to the above configuration, it is possible to prevent a highlight line that deteriorates the appearance from appearing in the portion of the back cover (5) that covers the periphery of the backboard (4).
[0043] 《Regarding Other Embodiments》 As described above, the embodiments of the present invention have been described using one embodiment. However, the present invention can be implemented in various forms in addition to the above embodiments.
[0044] 1. The seat back of the present invention is applicable not only to seats mounted on vehicles such as automobiles and railways but also to seats mounted on vehicles other than vehicles such as airplanes and ships. Further, the seat back is applicable to seats other than vehicle seats.
[0045] 2. The periphery where the peripheral overhang portion formed on the backboard and the pad convex portion formed on the back pad are combined may be a location corresponding to the side edge in addition to the location corresponding to the upper edge of the seat back. Further, it may be a location corresponding to both the upper edge and the side edge.
[0046] 3. The back cover may be made of the same material for both the back cover portion and the top plate cover portion. The back cover may be made of a leather material such as synthetic leather or natural leather.
