AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional connector holding methods using cushion sheets with self-fusing materials lead to reduced productivity in assembly processes due to discarding of unnecessary components and lack of size flexibility, and they do not adequately address space constraints in narrow vehicle spaces.

Method used

A connector holding structure utilizing a resin sheet wrapped around the connector with a connector protection member and a connector holding member, along with a branch wire holding member, to securely hold the connector and improve assembly efficiency while saving space.

Benefits of technology

The solution effectively suppresses abnormal noise, enhances assembly productivity by preventing connector movement, and optimizes space usage in narrow vehicle compartments.

Abstract

To provide a connector holding structure, a wire harness with an outer casing, and a connector holding method that suppress the movement of the connector which causes abnormal noise, thereby securely holding the connector, improving productivity in the assembly process, and saving space. [Solution] The connector holding structure 1 comprises a main wire 2, a branch wire 3, and a connector 4, and further comprises a connector protection member 5 that covers the entire outer surface 41 of the connector 4 by wrapping a resin sheet around the outer surface of the connector 4 in a non-adhesive, close-fitting state for a length of at least one turn, thereby protecting the connector 4 in a removable holding state; a connector holding member 6 that is wrapped around the connector protection member 5 and the main wire 2 and holds the connector 4 to the main wire 2 via the connector protection member 5; and a branch wire holding member 7 that is detachably wrapped around the main wire 2 and the branch wire 3 and holds the branch wire 3 along the outer surface of the main wire 2.
