Abstract

This suppresses the appearance of stains caused by toner retransfer to the sheet. [Solution] The system includes an image forming unit that forms a toner image on a sheet, a fixing unit that fixes the toner image formed on the sheet at a nip formed between a fixing member and a pressure member, a cleaning unit that collects toner adhering to the fixing member, and a control unit that controls the fixing member to operate at a set temperature. Before implementing an operation mode in which the fixing member is controlled to operate at a temperature higher than a preset temperature, the control unit performs a warning process to prompt a cleaning operation to clean the nip based on the printing information of borderless printing performed before that operation mode, in which a toner image is formed up to at least one edge of the sheet.
